Report: Rockets acquire Corey Brewer

HANG TIME BIG CITY — One day after reportedly coming up just short in their pursuit of Rajon Rondo, the Houston Rockets appear to have found a second option.

According to a report from Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski, the Houston Rockets will acquire veteran Minnesota swingman Corey Brewer.

The Timberwolves traded Kevin Love in the offseason and have dealt with several injuries this season, most significantly to point guard Ricky Rubio. Just a few weeks ago, Wolves coach and head of basketball operations Flip Saunders said Brewer would not be traded.

Acquiring the 28-year-old Brewer will give Houston the wing depth they sought, and Brewer should initially contribute primarily via his ability to defend multiple positions. Brewer, in his eighth NBA season, is averaging 10.5 points per game in 24 games this season.

The Wolves have clearly thrown in the towel and should now be focusing on rebuilding.

I am really looking forward to Brewer helping the Rockets. He will have a great combination with Terry in the second unit, because their styles can annoy opponents and both can also score when needed.

Wiggins and Lavine, got talent, it’s raw right now all athletic, but if they can take there skills to the next level, thats a nice duo.

Corey Brewer is a system player. The Rockets will be better with him, adds depth, but it’s not that big of a move, if the Rockets were smart i would send him to the Cavs for Dion Waiters, Waiters is a better offensive player, and when the playoffs come and Harden is double teamed in the half court there going to need someone to score for himself off the dribble and Waiters can score and create his own shot, he would be a great 6th man for them off the bench.

    Good for the Rockets!

Lakers are in tank mode so why in the world would they get him? Lakers have many expiring contracts this year…Boozer, Hill, Lin and perhaps even Nash (retirement)

Celtics made a smart move by investing in marus smart ( see what I did there) and Shipped rondo off to the west.

Ok brewer would play behind ariza or ariza will play behind brewer…But all in all if wolves are sending brewer along tiwth turiaf then its a bad deal for the wolves…the rebuilding process for them will take much much much more longer…I hope bennett and wiggins develops fast like davis did in pelicans…I don’t think that brewer is a big upgrade for houston…Brewer would have worked perfectly in cavas or lakers but not in houston…Not that much i mean…Kings could have had better use of brewer..

If lakers it would be like this…

    J.Hill
    C.Boozer
    C.Brewer
    K.Bryant / N.Young
    J.Lin

    If it was in cavs

    K.Love / A.Verajao
    L.James / S.T.Thompson
    C.Brewer / S.Marion
    M.Miller / J.Jones
    K.Irving / D.Waiters

This seems like a bad deal for Wolves why in the world would they accept this.
