Innovative Therapy For Bryant’s Knee

HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS – Kobe Bryant has opted for an innovative assist to relive pain in his oft-injured right knee, per a report from the Mike Bersnahan and Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times.

Bryant had the procedure done a month ago in Germany, according to the Times:

The treatment is a derivation of platelet-rich plasma therapy. PRP procedures are less invasive than many surgeries involving the knee and are viewed as either an emerging solution to knee problems or a financial gamble on unproven science.

Bryant, who turns 33 next month, has been bothered in recent seasons by an arthritic joint in his right knee. He has undergone three other knee procedures since 2003, including surgery last July to remove unspecified loose bodies.

He sat out an overwhelming majority of the Lakers’ practices this past season and saw his scoring, shooting percentage and minutes decrease in his 15th NBA season. He has three years and $83.5 million left on his contract with the Lakers.

A report by ESPNLosAngeles.com cited several other notable professional athletes as having undergone the same procedure, including Tiger Woods, New York Giants defensive tackle Chris Canty and Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Cliff Lee. There was a much more descriptive definition of the procedure.

Kobe will always be one the best player I’ve ever seen. I just don’t understand why you guys keep insisting that
Lebron is the best player when he has proven time and time again that he can never be that guy. He is only good
in bragging himself. Money for him, thanks to you, he’s got your cash. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.

  7. Nosleeptillbrooklyn says:

You can’t blame Kobe for accepting such a large pay packet, however in doing so meant he and the bosses hurt the team ! Especially with a new CBA on the way !

  8. JR says:

Damn Kobe is both a ballhog and a money hunter. He’s far from being in the top5 SGs in the league in any way. Lakers are shooting themselves in the foot putting their destiny in his hands.

  9. Diego says:

kobe will be ok because of the lock out he will have more time to recover . he is one of the greatest there is no worry about him . but yall should be worry about how the Lakers are going to do next year . they have one one of the worst coshes ever . and the team is getting old .

my heats need therapy for one of the star players too. my boy wade and big man bosh are fine but i think King James need to have some therapy to cure his throat injury caused by boston celtics in 2010 and again in 2011 by dallas. heat would have been champion if king james didn’t have that injury.

    • wtf are you talking about…throat injury, he didn’t have a throat injury, it was more of a mind thing where he would just trip out in the fourth quarter…

      • NMOLL says:

hahahahaha, c’mon HEATWADE, throat injury? He choked, that’s why his throat has been hurting. Kobe will be fine though. Hes the last of my worries on this new laker’s team. We need to pick up another piece.

      • Lance says:

are you idiots that stupid?… by “thoat injury” he meant he choked… hahahaha

Something fishy going on here. Why Germany? PRP can be done in the states. Since HGH is ilegal here. I bet it was mixed in the PRP process.

    • Rick says:

another conspiracy theory? u haters just never cease to amaze with the excuses you can come up with

    • J says:

Do you even have a brain that can function on inductive logic over brash ambiguity?, aparrently not. Why anyone go to a certain doctor over another? or move to a certain state to be near a hospital… Hmmm lets see it’s probably because they specialize in the opertain that person needs. It’s not hard to comprehend the logical reason Kobe went to germany to get it done. The only ephemeral bit of logic you states was that it could be done anywhere, suffice to say he it done by someone who’s a known specialist on the operation.

  15. marl says:

I think there is still enough gas left on the tank of Kobe Bryant i think he will win atleasr two more title and maybe with the all time scoring title….

  16. rysam says:

there’s no next season coz of the lockout so its a wise move, all players with lingering injuries should do what kobe did haha

    • Ventruck says:

Indeed, it is the smartest thing to do in this lockout: recover. But regardless, Kobe should’ve done this. A lingering injury isn’t going to get any better by continuing to beat it up. I think Kobe’s stroke/shot will still last without much practice if that has to be the case. He just really needs to recover his athleticism.

Wonder if they can save his finger, too. He hasn’t stacked up the turnover sheet, but he sloppily has lost the ball on dribbles at times.

  17. Chris says:

Yeaahhhh Kobe gunna be ready for next season

  18. gary sucks says:

kobe deserves those big bucks bcoz he is the best baller in d planet! Unlike haters which is like u,u dont have any talent thats gonna get you even a buck.

    • Stop it says:

      man your mad over nothing
kobe will always be kobe its the rest of the drama queen lakers that will do you fans a disservice.

  19. gary says:

    83.5 million for 3 years?!

    • ray08 says:

      yeah how is that possible…..i tght 21 mil is the maximal contract….i think it’s 63 mil…..not 83 mil….

    • LATILLIDIE (LAKERS 20113PEAT) says:

thsi is funny, and shows how you two know NOTHING about whats going on in the NBA

when Kobe was going to be a free agent in that july of his last contract year, he was offered an extension while the season was still going on, which was 3 yrs for 90million ….this is the start of those 3 exta extended years….

      get your knowledge up!

  20. David Beyer says:

I have to admit Kobe is getting old, and thats hard to say because it seems like yesterday when he came into the league. I guess it has been longer. You should check out http://littleurl.net/cffc1a it offers a little more detail on Kobe. Great read once again by Sekou. If this works this could help many other players besides Kobe. Any new treatment has its risk but also has rewards.
