The Dallas Mavericks and Mark Cuban are continuing their support of the Texas Rangers on through the World Series.
The Mavericks open the regular season Wednesday night at home against Charlotte at 7:30 p.m. CT. The Rangers also open the Fall Classic, against either San Francisco or Philadelphia, the same night at 6:30 p.m.
Just as the Mavs did during Friday night’s preseason finale against Houston at American Airlines Center, the Rangers score will be continuously updated throughout the Bobcats game. And should Mavs-Cats end before Game 1 of the World Series does — likely considering the length of baseball games — the Rangers are going up on the arena’s massive hi-def video screens.
The Mavs did the same thing Friday night, treating fans that bonus coverage as the Rangers clinched the American League pennant by beating the New York Yankees.
Mavs players and coaches have openly backed the local baseball team throughout its playoff run. Dirk Nowitzki and J.J. Barea attended one of the home games during the Yankees series. Cuban did the same in the Bronx. Mavs players even taped a video message for the Rangers.
Cuban added that opening up American Airlines Center for fan watching parties while the Rangers are on the road is under consideration. That could happen as soon as Thursday for Game 2. The Mavs aren’t playing at home during a possible Game 6 or 7 (Nov. 3-4).
