Hang Time Podcast (Episode 65)

HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS — If no one else is prepared to make a big deal of the Philadelphia 76ers and the moves they are making in the Eastern Conference, we’ll gladly take up that cause here at HT.

And with the way Doug Collins has his crew playing these days, it’s a cause well worth championing (before Utah Jazz fans go crazy, we see you there, too, and we’re coming there next if you keep it up).

But Episode 65 of the Hang Time Podcast is heavy on the team that should have folks Philly smiling about at least one of their professional teams this week.

espnW’s Kate Fagan, formerly of the Deep Sixer blog on, joined us to break down the Sixers and the culture change that’s taken place within the franchise since Collins (and new ownership) came aboard.

With the results of’s annual GM Survey and USA Basketball’s announcement of the 20 finalists for the 2012 Olympic team dropping on the same day, we had to try to make sense of it all.’s John Schuhmann joined us and decipher all the pertinent data. (Jerry Colangelo, Coach K and all the folks at USA Basketball can rest easy now that Schuh has taken care of cutting the roster to the 12 guys that need to be in London.)

And in an effort to bring peace and harmony to all people, we decided to help end the spirited debate Shaquille  O’Neal and Charles Barkley have been battling about on the TNT set since last week.

As always, we welcome your feedback. You can follow the entire crew, including the Hang Time Podcast, co-hosts Lang Whitaker of SLAM Magazine and Sekou Smith of, as well as our superproducer Micah Hart of’s All Ball Blog.
