NBA reacts to the death of Pat Summitt

NEW YORKΒ — The basketball world lost a giant last night with the passing of Pat Summitt, the legendary former women’s coach at the University of Tennessee. In nearly four decades with the Vols, Summitt collected 1,098 wins, more than any other Division I coach, and was named NCAA Coach of the Year seven times. Summit’s teams won eight National Championships, and in her 38 seasons her teams never finished with a losing record. Summit retired in 2012 after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, and dedicated herself to raising funds and awareness in the fight against Alzheimer’s. Summitt was 64 years old.
