Ankle injury sidelines Stephen Curry

VIDEO: Curry injures ankle in the third quarter against Thunder

OAKLAND — The amazing hot streak of Stephen Curry was at least momentarily cooled by a sore left ankle that sidelined him for Tuesday night’s game against the Hawks at Oracle Arena.

The injury is not believed to be serious, with the Warriors listing him as questionable earlier in the day, leaving open the slight possibility Curry could have played, before he was declared out about an hour before tip-off. The decision came after coach Steve Kerr noted he would err on the side of caution — it’s March — again suggesting the reigning MVP is not looking at a long layoff.

Curry was named the Western Conference Player of the Week Monday after averaging 43.8 points while leading the Warriors to a 4-0 record. He scored 36, 42, 51 and 46 points and made at least five 3-pointers each time, including 10 or more twice.

Andre Iguodala also missed the game against the Hawks with tightness in his left hamstring.

The Warriors play the Thunder on Thursday in Oakland.
