Report: Knicks get Kyle O’Quinn

The Knicks continued to re-work their front line Saturday by reaching a contract agreement with Kyle O’Quinn as part of a sign-and-trade that will send him from Orlando to New York, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reported.

The contract is worth $16 million over four seasons, Yahoo said, with the Magic to receive money and the right to swap second-round picks in 2019.

The Knicks had previously drafted power forward Kristaps Porzingis with the No. 4 choice and agreed to terms on a four-year, $54-million deal with center Robin Lopez, the Trail Blazers’ starter in 2014-15.

O’Quinn averaged 5.8 points and 3.9 rebounds in 16.2 minutes over 51 appearances last season as a reserve power forward-center in Orlando.

The deal will be made official when the league-wide moratorium is lifted Thursday.

I agree with the first comment. Let’s get David Lee. He does everything Jackson would want. Hope they are aggressively pursuing him.

  2. mark says:

What ‘s doing with David Lee??

  3. Polak from Poland says:

Ok…I think nice move for role player, but knicks need more scorers, Carmelo’s 30 per game won’t give the playoffs

  4. JosephMagic says:

The Knicks really got a steal picking up O’Quinn (if they’ll actually play him). He was pretty good in the 13-14 season for the Magic. We will miss you O’Quinn.

  5. Billy D. says:

Blame, blame, blame, Phil has done what he could under the circumstaces giving to him. A team can win with the right chemistry, it does not have to be super stars all the times, and yes, quit blaming Melo.

  6. I actually like what the knicks are doing here

  7. dustydreamnz says:

I think the Knicks are going in the right direction, they’re not going to be contenders for a while.

  8. Estevan says:

Too many unbelievers here. These signings are cool! If the Zen Master could have lured any of the big name guys here, obviously that would have dramatically changed the team. But since those players chose to sign elsewhere, Zen Master Jackson got the second best options available. I like snatching up Robin Lopez because he’s improving himself into one of the better defenders in the league. But with Aflallo, Derrick Williams, Porzingis, and O’Quinn adding even more depth to the roster, there’s no reason to doubt PJ.

The way I see it, as long as everyone stays healthy this season the Knicks will most likely be right back in the playoffs again. In fact! I really hope they make the playoffs this year just so the Zen Master can say I told you so.

    • Shintaro says:

I strongly agree with you Estevan. People are so pessimistic. Give PJ a chance to prove himself. Don’t be judgmental guys. It’s not over until it’s over. GO NY KNICKS!

  9. harriethehawk says:

The New York Knickerbonkers. Have done it again. Sunk deeper in the hole. What is the plan here? To look more ridiculous? What was Carmello Anthony thinking when he decided to stay. Wrong choice. I’m not looking forward to his post game press conferences: “we just have to play harder” c’mon, no more verbal diarrhea!!!

  10. Joe says:

Wow. Now they got O’Quinn! Now the Knicks are going to win a championship, right? What news! Really rebuilding there PJ! LMAO!

  11. Chuck says:

Phil is really putting together a potential juggernaut for the Knicks faithful. Four more years of lottery picks will have his team ready for the playoffs.

    • Joe says:

No. This team will never be ready for the playoffs. This year they blew it on Frederic Weis… Oh, sorry, I meant poringicitis. It’s all the same. They are going NOWHERE QUICKLY!

      • U don't understand says:

You have no idea what you are talking about. The reason why the Knicks did bad was because Melo was playing with a
tear in his knee. He also had nobody good that was playing around him. Every superstar needs other good players to be a great team. Lebron has Love and Erving. KD has Westbrook. Steph has Klay. LeMarcus had Lillard. Harden has Howard. Paul has Griffin. But know melo has at least some good players, like Robin Lopez who is a top defensive center and Arron Afflalo who is a good three point shooter and defender. The Knicks will at least win 45 games, and make the playoffs. Melo receives too much criticism.

Similar to the T Wolves, Cavs, Phila, and New Orleans? Rise of the Small Markets after the collective barganing agreement.
