VIDEO: Jeff Teague talks about the Hawks clinching a playoff berth

HANG TIME NEW JERSEY — The Atlanta Hawks are the only playoff team that finished below .500. The Indiana Pacers basically led the Eastern Conference from start to finish. So there shouldn’t be much intrigue in this 1-8 series.

But the Pacers been rather mediocre over the last two months, struggling on both ends of the floor against good teams. And the Hawks have played Indiana rather well. In fact, no Eastern Conference team has scored more efficiently against the league’s No. 1 defense.

Here are some statistical notes to get you ready for Hawks-Pacers, with links to let you dive in and explore more.

I don’t see any problems in this for the pacers… This is similar to the heat vs the bobcats… although if the pacers, play like they use do in the last 10 games, the hawks can win some games. But at the end of the day, just too much talent on the pacers side.

  2. rich says:

Uh, can everybody gang up on Vegas and let the ATL Hawks win all the way ?!

  3. Atlhawksprophet says:

I see a seven game series no road wins basically a repeat of 2008 but a predictable one. As much as I want my hawks to win I know it wont happen everyone’s against us. For the sake of ratings (Even though atl has a larger market) It would be terrible for the nba. The popularity for the nba would go down a lot of Paul George Roy Hibbert and David West cant make it out of the first round. GO HAWKS!

  4. TROYBOY says:

The PLAYOFFS is a different animal. Games will be slower and fouls are not gonna be called when the games are close. Will work to the Pacers advantage. Hawks played Indiana well during the regular season but then again, this is the PLAYOFFS. Defensive teams always have an edge especially when the oppenent does not have a SUPERSTAR for NBA RATINGS purposes. I know it sounds stupid but the NBA, like everything else on TV, is all about RATINGS. Pacers in 5.

  5. hammar says:

Pacers will overcome their past two month decent and move on into the second round

  6. thespectator says:

man indy gets bumped out the first round? on top of that they get bumped by the hawks? oh man talk about an epic flop! this is gonna be a very interesting playoffs

  7. yellowdart24 says:

It’s amazing how bad of homers you Hawks fans are!!! Pacers clearly have a huge talent advantage and it will show. This isn’t the regular season where the Pacers are playing back-to-back and have little time to prepare for them. In the playoffs, defense wins out and since the Pacers have plenty of time to prepare for Atlanta, this series won’t go past game 5. Pacers win this series pretty easy 4-1 with 2 blowouts. Round 2 is when things will become a challenge for the Pacers. Go Portland!!!

  8. goldishgreen says:

The Pacers aren’t lacking talent, and definitely not lacking depth. If they come into this series mentally and emotionally ready, I think this series will be won by Indiana. If things are still going to be shaky for them, look for more veteran presence. This is normally the time of the year when David West steps up as the leader of the group and puts everyone where they should be.

  9. kz says:

Hawks have many players who crumble in clutch moments. Pacers excel in the clutch. Pacers all day all night.

  10. HeartBreakingUpset says:

Hawks in 6. Then Larry Bird decides to blow up the Pacers and Tanking Era begins

  11. calvin says:

Hawks in 5. Pacers are everyone’s upset alert pick. They have not had any major player injuries or any other excuse for playing as bad as they have. The Knicks started out super hot last year and they are at home now. Pacers are better than the Knicks, but still overrated. Stevenson is a joke, Hibbert would foul out by half time if he didn’t get bailed out by refs every play at the rim, P. George has potential but way too inconsistent, and there’s too many issues with George Hill to list. They better hope the saying “Defense wins championships” stands true this year because they have the worst offence in the playoffs. They worked so hard to get the #1 spot and home court advantage, but may not get past the Hawks. The #8 seed has won only 5 times in the last 30 years. That’s a win/loss record of 5 and 55, but the Hawks have a great opportunity to get the 6th series win for a #8!!

  12. NashHawk says:

The Hawks must control the paint on defense and be lethal beyond the arc consistently to win this series. Call me a dreamer – but I believe that ATL can take the series in seven. The rest of the league will soon see that this isn’t a powder puff first round matchup. Say goodnight Indy.

  13. okc2014 says:

I’m a Hawks fan but I have eyes. They will all be back in their nests by the end of this month. But I give them all the credit what they for and wish them a restful summer, Caw Caw!

  14. VMbball says:

This is going to be a stinger. Hawks pull win in 6. Pacers are too emotionally unstable and have shown their vulnerability over the last 3 months barely winning about .500. This is a VERY beatable team and playing a Hawks team with a lot of playoff experience.

  15. This isn’t much of matchup unless the Pacers decide to make this a matchup! If they Pacers are clicking on all cylinders then the Hawks should be dispatched in 5 games! Check out HeKnowsHisSport’s page for rich and controversial videos covering the NBA playoffs and other NBA related topics.

  16. MaFox says:

Indiana in 6 games, i feel indiana’s lack of offence will carry over to the playoffs, coupled with ATLs performances against Indy during the season. indiana don’t get out of the 2nd round, YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST NBA FANS!

    • potalita says:
