Timberwolves Catch The Injury Bug

VIDEO: Kevin Martin’s Injury

The injury bug which is currently being felt by the Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs now seems to have found its way to Minnesota.

All-Star forward Kevin Love will miss tonight’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers with a left quad contusion. Love reportedly suffered the injury in Friday night’s loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.

Joining Love on the bench is second-leading scorer Kevin Martin, who broke his left thumb Friday night. Martin is averaging 19.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game for the Timberwolves.

Center Nikola Pekovic will miss his sixth straight game with bursitis in his right ankle.

The Timberwolves’ offense has sputtered as of late, and injuries to their top two scorers certainly won’t help. At 24-26, Minnesota will need to weather through this storm if they hope to still be in the playoff conversation come March.

I do agree that T-Wolves wouldn’t make the playoffs if they keep playing like that: 1. No rim protection. 2. Terrible bench depth. But I don’t think it’s fair to say that no one can step up when two kevins are down. My point is, imagine both Harden and Howard are down in Houston, both Curry and Lee are down in GS, both Durant and Westbrook are down in OKC, James and Wade are down in Miami…who can step up and fill the gap left? They do have a third best player , but losing the two most important ones is not anything a third guy can erase. Any team in the league, having lost the 1st and 2nd scorers, would be a totally different team, no matter who they have stepping up.

this is BULL$H!T!!! tha’s all i can say.. i’m a diehard Minnesota fan and i can’t watch this.. it’s just so hard getting over a hump like this.. it’s like to reach the playoffs we have to be champions on some sort.

twolves are a better team than their record… someone amongst the players must take the leadership role… i guess much too young… need more veterans… world peace is available. trade him for mbah moute or much better, muhammad…

This is the beginning of the end for the Wolves which is a shame. To be fair they weren’t going well enough with their full compliment of players.

i don’t think t-wolves could get into play-offs in their present condition. they only rely on two or three players and no one steps up if the two kevins are injured! and they also don’t have leadership in the team. i guess minnesota is better during the kevin garnett era!

I thought the Minnesota Timberwolves would have a much better year, with Kevin Love back and acquiring Kevin Martin from OKC. Not the case. But I also had high hopes for Detroit, Cleveland and the Nets. Just based o the changes they made too.

    • rubio needs to shoot! if AK was on this team then they could be much better! their line-up was way better last year…if not for the injuries

rubio’s actually been shooting well in the past three games, especially when klove and kmart were out. Which leads me to think that when playing with the two offensive machines, he just prefers to defer to them, maybe. But yeah, he def needs to step up consistently.
