Air Check: The Best Of Clyde

HANG TIME NEW JERSEY — For NBA fans like us, there’s nothing better than League Pass. Having the ability to watch every game every night (and then again the next day) is heaven.

Of course, with local broadcasts, you get local broadcasters, which can be good and bad. It can be good, because these guys know their teams better than most national broadcasters. It can be bad, because these guys love their teams more than most national broadcasters. And they’re usually not afraid to show that love.

Air Check is where we highlight the best and worst of NBA broadcasts.

This week, we have a special edition of Air Check, solely dedicated to the verbal stylings of one Clyde Frazier, who provides color commentary for Knicks broadcasts on MSG.

There was so much good stuff, we had slice it and dice it into two separate videos.

Part I

Part II

A couple of my favorites: “And then the neophyte. He’s been a delight tonight!” and “That play is indicative of their continuity, their spontaneity, their altruism.”

If the players listen carefully to Clyde’s comments they will find a lot of great advises to improve their game

  2. lbj says:

  4. Mark says:

I am from Chicago. In the height of the Knicks success, I followed Clyde. As a college student in the 70 s, I admired his team play, offensively. I enjoyed his lifestyle from afar…the fashions from head to toe. He had the coolest hats. I loved his Puma gym shoes, esecially his suede jumpers. I bought other Puma shoes as well, for running, riding bicycles, etc. I also made an acrylic painting, which I still have. Also, I am aware of his color commentator for Knicks games in New York, as shown by NBA tv. I think he styles in fashion now. His use of language for Knicks games are excellent, reflecting the personality he displays.

The GOAT of color commentators and snappy dressers.
