MVP Ladder: Lillard Comes Up Roses!

VIDEO: Damian Lillard drains the game-winner against Cleveland

HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS —  Four and counting.

Four game-winning shots this season and counting, that is, for Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard, who is coming up all roses these days in the City of Roses. Lillard, the second-leading point guard scorer in the league behind Golden State’s Stephen Curry, has done a masterful job avoiding the sophomore slump after winning Rookie of the Year honors last season.

Lillard’s fingerprints are all over the Trail Blazer’s resurgence, too. That’s a huge part of what led to his rise to the ranks of the KIA Race to the MVP Ladder this week, where he checks in at No. 10. His appearance also gives us a second straight week when teammates move into the Top 10 together. Lillard joins LaMarcus Aldridge a week after Russell Westbrook joined the man at the top of the list, Kevin Durant.

LeBron James, Paul George, Aldridge and Chris Paul round out the top five this week.

LBJ will win it no matter what he does or any body else does the MVP is rigged for LBJ last 2 years it should of went to Durant but James got it because there trying to make him the next Jordan, Jordan chalenged him to a one on one game for one milillion dollars and he backed LBJ is over ratted

    • Bigwes95 says:

The MVPs were rigged for LeBron? Hahaha that’s funny, he was easily the MVP the last two years and no one was even close. And Jordan was the one challenged, not LeBron. Jordan was too afraid to go up against another owner, so maybe Jordan is the overrated one.

Still a sophomore player but playing like a veteran. And a very exciting and athletic player too. Portland is very fortunate they got Lillard. GREAT Player!!

  5. TS says:

People always trying to compare Lillard’s game to another NBA star. Whether it’s Chauncey Billups, Tony Parker, or Derrick Rose. But from what I’ve seen, Damian Lillard is carving out his own unique groove in the NBA.

  6. Ryan says:

Lillard just has the whole package, hard not to put him in Top 5. But this is golden era of MVP players in Western Conference, that even if you gave MVP to both a Western and Eastern player, you would still be puzzled.

  7. Zain Ali says:

Russell Westbrook isn’t leading point guards in scoring???

  8. okc2014 says:

I think MVP should be awarded to the player who is not only most valuable to their team, but empowers their own teammates to also be the best they can be, hence, win a championship. This is not gonna be Lillard. He is getting there, but not this season. Most likely a Paul George, Kevin Durant or of course, the best player in the galaxy, Sir Lebron James.
