The Numbers On The East Playoffs

HANG TIME NEW JERSEY – The playoffs are here. And to get you ready, we’ve got statistical nuggets for each series, courtesy of NBA.com/Stats.

Eastern Conference basketball was slower and less efficient than Western Conference hoops. Five of the eight East playoff teams ranked in the bottom eight in pace, while four of the eight ranked in the top seven in defensive efficiency.

Yet, a couple of these series (Knicks-Celtics and Nets-Bulls) can be seen as offense vs. defense.

  1. @ PatAloysius-Celts 4-2
    CELTICS-HORAAH-UBUNTU!!!

  2. heatfan says:

Melo was def more valuable to the knicks than LBJ was to the heat. Both teams would still be in the playoffs, but the knicks wouldve fallen further in the rankings than the heat. Seems that the most valuable should actually influence a teams performance more.

    • Pakyaw says:

Cause melo shoot 1/3 of the shot for the entire team,,Lebron makes every one better eveytime he’s on the floor, just imagine if Lebron same take shot with melo,he could probably avg.40 a game ,but probably will hurt his team..

  3. PatAloysius says:

Here is my Eastern Conference preview :

Heat-Bucks : 4-0. Heat are the best postseason team, Bucks the worst… Woud be surprised if Bucks won one game.

Knicks-Celtics : 4-1. We never know with the C’s,wouldn’t be surprised if they won but right now it’s hard to imagine them win more than 1.

Pacers-Hawks:4-2.Pacers ain’t as good as they used to but they still seem far superior than theHawks.Don’t think Hawks can win more than 2.

Bulls-Nets : 4-3. If Noah’s the only Bulls big out I think Bulls will still win, if another Bulls big is out then the Nets will win IMO.

  4. NBA FAN says:

The MVP should be, as stated the Most Valuable Player of the team. If not for this player the team will suffer, and with him they over achieve. Just like the case of DRose in 2011. I like the MVP title of Lebron when he was still on Cleveland. Obviously, he is the MVP of that team. But now, there are so many stars playing with him, and he can just focus to pile up the stats to get to the top. But, even without him, this team is still a great contender.

    • HeatAllTheWay says:

First of all D-Rose should have nerver won that MVP award. If it wasnt for “The Decision” LeBron did he will still be the MVP. If all those great players before acknowledge LeBron as MVP so should you. Because first of all they know basketball more than anyone of us so stop crying. LMFAO

  5. Jack says:

dont ever use HEAT because you are a HATER!!haha it is so obvious your that stupid not the NBA stats who are giving those awards,…learn before you spit on someone.!

  6. Aram says:

Please do some research before placing comments.

  7. HEAT says:

The people that deserves MVPs are S. Curry, Harden, Irving, and many more on the list before Lebron should come up. These guys don’t get as much help as Lebron does and they play great. Lebron would never win a title by himself and he has proven that for many years in Cleveland. He doesn’t carry a team, he only helps a team.

    • sick says:

      jealous much???? moron

    • HeatAllTheWay says:

Look at the Cavs record. How could Irving win MVP in a team with a losing record. If he can carry the cavs they should have been in the playoffs like LeBron did in Cleaveland. GO cry to your mama.

  8. HEAT says:

The whole MVP rating in the NBA is all screwed up. It looks like you only earn an MVP if you play on a good team, where you, day in and day out, get your stats much easier than other people. Example, Lebron himself never won back to back MVPs when he was in Cleveland. The game was tougher on him than it is now. Now he gets rewarded with the MVP for playing easier games. Stupidest thing ever award. This goes the same way to many other great players playing tough games on small market teams, like Westbrook, Duran, Harden,

    • asdasd says:

hmm he did win back to back mvp’s in cleveland. 2009 and 2010 seasons, then d-rose won 2011 and LBJ won it again in 2012

    • Aram says:

You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about. Please do some research. You mentioned it is a “stupid” award for lebron to have an MVP this year? See the mirror please.

    • sick says:

LBJ won back2back MVPs in Cleveland IDIOT… Lol
