Rose, Bulls Eager For Divine Intervention

CHICAGO — First it was the doctors. Then it some sort of mutual decision involving the team and the player. Then for a spell, it seemed as if the marketing execs and the shoe manufacturer might hold sway over Derrick Rose‘s return to the Chicago Bulls’ lineup from knee surgery last May.

Turns out everyone was wrong.

“Nobody knows but God,” Rose told reporters Thursday when asked, yet again, about his likely comeback date.

And The Big Guy apparently hasn’t leaked the info to his favorite blogger.

Rose’s return game remains unknown – will it be this week, before the regular season ends, sometime in the playoffs or as far away as October? – because the Bulls’ franchise point guard still doesn’t feel quite right. The good news is, he apparently is close: “It could be tomorrow and I feel like I can play the next game,” he said. The bad news is, he still is experiencing soreness in his left knee, site of his repaired anterior cruciate ligament, that prevents him from playing as instinctively and freely as he did before the injury in Chicago’s playoff opener last April 28.

“It’s still about the same where you warm up a little bit, it’s loose,” Rose said. “Then, the activity picks up and it gets back sore. Just fighting through that.”

Time would seem to be running out – the Bulls have just 15 games left after their Thursday night home clash with Portland. But Rose repeated his openness to coming back even if the playoffs have begun.

Then again, his return might sync up with the preseason rather than the postseason, with a fully healed but even more rusty Rose showing up in October.

Way back in 1996, when Stephon Marbury was introduced in Minnesota after being drafted by the Timberwolves, the Coney Island product talked about the specialness of those who play his position best. He said: “Point guards are delivered from God.”

The Bulls were hoping more FedEx than parcel post.

  1. Unquestionably consider that that you said. Your favorite reason seemed to be on the net the simplest factor to have in mind of. I say to you, I certainly get annoyed whilst other folks consider worries that they plainly do not recognize about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the highest and defined out the whole thing without having side effect , other people could take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thank you

somebody should tell this guy what’s the meaning of team sport.Scared little girl

  3. needisaymore says:

to the dummies who say Rose should play even if he’s not yet ready…you’re a dummy. he’s not the selfish one….you are! he came out of college after his first year so technically he’s three years ahead of the game. he ain’t got nothing to prove to you or nobody else. as for the $20 million…so what! it’s called karma. the owner never paid Michael Jordan what he was worth when Mike was a Bull so i guess karma caught up with his cheap arse. it’s a business, but if you don’t believe me go ask Brian Urlicher. look how the Bears management disrespected him after he gave them his all for ten plus years. basketball is no different. they use you up then ship you out to the d-league so i don’t blame Derrick. you crybabies are selfish and only thinking of yourself. you just want something to talk about and look forward to. get a life losers and find you some business and stay out of his.

  4. Renz says:

Why do you people want Rose to play despite knowing he’s not yet fully recovered?!
How can you say he’s selfish? If you we in his position, will you play even if there is something bothering you in your knee?

  5. W/E says:

Fake mvp DRose is a huge disapointment, he should stop hiding and come back and help his team, hes becoming the next Brandon Roy the guy is hopeless.

D-Rose trade him to Damian Lillard…
Rose time is up, he’s been an mvp…
    Time to move now… Bulls.

  7. patrick bateman says:

they pay this guy nearly 20 million US dollars just to sit back and take a rest!?!?I’ve never seen a player so selfish,When the guy is cleared he has to play and help the team.I’m tired of overpayed losers and crybabies

  8. NBAChicago says:

Im going to use that line at work today..

Boss~”When will that project be done?

    Me~”No one Knows.. but God…”

    Boss~” You’re fired.”

  9. Matthew says:

Derrick Rose stay off the court until you’re ready dude. I want to see you in the league for the next 10 seasons at least. 1. God. 2. Wife 3. Children. 4. Job 5 Everyone else. You’re priorities have to stay straight or you’ll be blowing in the wind.

  10. sick says:

Rose the next Brandon Roy ..

  11. Rose fan says:

I remember when Jordan got broken foot he was asking the front office to come back and play so just the Bulls could make the playoffs. I love Rose and I think we are all blesed to to have him in our team but i dont understand why he doesn’t try to get into the action? If it works it works , if it doesn’t then fine. But how would you know if you dont try? Nobody is going to push him to play 30 or 40 min, just go out there and give it a chanse. I understand he is scared about his fiture but anybody could get injured at any time, it’s not like next year you will can sure its not going to happend again, you just don’t know.
The Bulls organization did everything they could for him, 20 million dollars for not even a game and you can’t at least try atfer almost a year????
Some people say that we dont have a chanse for a title this year so why risk him at all??? What up with that, we dont deserve to watch our team in the esternconference final. How about Noah, Boozer and the other guys. Is that fear to them????

  12. DC says:

Rose cannot hold back like this anymore. He needs to come out.

  13. Big Dizzle 213 says:

What – does he even lift?! Tell him to harden up and get out there!

PS – He’ll be back for the playoffs, you’ll see

    • Child's play says:

Shut up, rose will do what he needs to do. you just continue been an a grade loser in your own pitiful existence…

  14. sports fan says:

Isiah Thomas’ comments about Rose were spot on in the podcast. Rose knows his body better than anyone else on this planet & good for him to not listen to anyone but himself.

  15. TT says:

Derrick Rose is afraid of playing for the wrong coach. Remember last season’s first round playoff against Philly in game 1. Remember who stubbornly refused to pull him out of the game when the Bulls are leading big at the end of the game. TOM THIBODEAU!!! BULLS FANS WILL NEVER FORGET AND FORGIVE WHAT YOU’VE DONE!!!!

  16. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  17. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  18. Derrick Rose says:

Sorry Rose you have to put your fans and the NBA that pays you above anything, it seems to me that its all an excuse. You will feel better once you’re on the court man, any basketball player can tell you that man.

    • Matthew says:

“Sorry Rose you have to put your fans and the NBA that pays you above anything” <<< Above Jesus Christ? Above his family? Above his health? And any basketball player can tell you the court makes it all better? Yeah? T-Mac would say that? Stevie Franchise? Yao Ming? Greg Oden? Brandon Roy? How many others hit the court and played through pain only to have their hopes and careers blown out like a candle? I can understand wanting to see a great player on the court because that makes the NBA so awesome but the NBA is a business and should continue to operate like one. Extend your career for as long as you can because once it's over, the paychecks get smaller and smaller and soon you'll find your self playing for the Shanghai Dongfang Sharks.
