The San Antonio Spurs are so accustomed to flying under the radar by now that it’s surprising they haven’t changed the name of the team to the Stealth Bombers.
So in a way, it’s business as usual as one of the biggest questions when the reserves for the 2013 NBA All-Star Game are announced tonight on TNT (7 p.m. ET) is whether the longtime partners Tim Duncan and Tony Parker will somehow get overlooked for their sterling work in the first half of the season.
The 36-year-old Duncan has been spry, spirited and splendid in his work at both ends of the floor and Parker continues to raise the level of his game with each season.
Yet the Spurs, who currently have the third-best record in the NBA, did not have a player voted onto the Western Conference starting lineup in the fan balloting. The reserves, seven for each team, are selected by poll of the league’s coaches.
Much of the focus in the Eastern Conference will be in the middle of the lineup, where Miami’s Chris Bosh hopes to join Heat teammates LeBron James and Dwyane Wade in the All-Star Game, but faces strong competition from Tyson Chandler of the Knicks, Joakim Noah of the Bulls and Brook Lopez of the Nets.
The 62nd NBA All-Star Game will be played Feb. 17 at Houston’s Toyota Center (8:30 p.m. ET).

What about Kyrie Irving you piece of
Quite a few people are picking Kyrie, but honestly I’d be upset if he gets in. The mantra for years, over and over, has been that guys putting up good stats on bad teams don’t get to play. This has worked against Monta Ellis for years. But now that Ellis (and his teammate Jennings) are playing well on a reasonably good team, people seem to be avoiding both of them and going for Holiday and Irving. Plus, I’m not even convinced Irving was the MVP of his own team before Varejao got injured.
It would be a pretty significant double standard for the league to put Irving in there, and to me it would undermine a lot and would force an end to the mantra.
he has to be on a winning team…
I want Joakim Noah….
Yeah Joalim Noah and Luol Deng!
PAUL GEORGE
If Joakim doesn’t go, then it will be confirmed that the coaches are all idiots and don’t send people who deserve to go. Clearly, the fans don’t know how to vote either. Kevin Garnett is starting? really? Popularity clearly over powers deserving players.
Tim Duncan!!!
I would be astonished is Jrue Holiday doesn’t make the Eastern squad.
GREIVIS VASQUEZ!
WHAT??? He wouldn’t even make the NBDL All-star teams…LOL
umm… no
Time for J-Smoove
what about SCALABRINE you piece of
Kyrie. Irving. That is all
Timmy deserves to be a starter but because so many kids prefer high flying stars like Blake Griffin and Dwight Howard, these two were voted to start first. Timmy is 36 while Blake is 23, yet the former is putting better numbers than the latter. While Dwight? give me a break. I wish it were only coaches who get to pick who starts the game. imo it is still a complete waste of time – I hope no player gets injured.
If Noah does not make the all-star team and Lopez does over him..That is a disgrace…Noah is the BEST CENTER IN THE EAST along with Chandler at second… CHANDLER AND NOAH BOTH DESERVE TO BE IN THE ALL STAR GAME..
DID YOU SEE THE PLAY NOAH HAD LAST NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tyson Chandler is a must
no Chris Bosh
Kyrie Irving. If he can drop 40 on Rondo, he can beat every point guard in the NBA.
and the cavs still wont be in the playoffs this year, or next year
Brook Lopez better make it tonight for the reserves, hes def playing like an all star.
Nets All Day!
Lopez over Noah or Chandler? i think not
Kyrie Irving !!!!!!!!!!
brandon jennings is carrying the bucks to the playoffs!!!!!
Brook Lopez is way underrated. 18.6ppg 7.4rpg 2.1bpg in only 29 minutes per game. 4th in PER behind only LeBron, Durant, and CP3. One the main reasons why Nets are 3rd in the East right now. I think he deserves a spot
7.4 rebounds for a center……………..and hes a shooting center………weak…………not physical like Chandler and Noah…You can look at the stats, but you cant compare the play of Chandler and Noah with Lopez….Lopez is reallly overratedd.
Tim Duncan should be in!! end of discussion
Agreed.
The Spurs Get Over Looked Every Year Because the All Star Game is the same in every sport. Its All About The Players Names. If You aint A House Hold Favorite You Dont Get In. The Spurs Could Be Undefeated and Still Wouldnt Have anyone on the roster.
um can i get a AMEN
Yo put UNCLE DREW in the all star game!!!! You Youngbloods don’t know how to vote! Uncle Drew gets bucketsssss!!!!!
How about my man LaMarcus Aldrige? I will be hurting someone if doesn’t make the Western reserve squad.
no
Curry and Lee better be announced.
paul george and david west!!!
Anyone who knows the NBA can tell you its not the All Star Game. It is the Most Popular Players Game. Sorry Spurs, nobody likes you… I do feel your pain though, being a bucks fan. To bad for Jennings.
David Lee and Curry
naw.. just curry
Kyrie Irving….HE GETS BUCKETS!!!
Dumbtoni west all star coach !!
Kyrie Irving got my vote to be the allstar
Brook Lopez is a beast…….Brooklyn Rules…….The knick fans know it and the bull fans will know it soon
hahahhaha The Nets are reallllllyyyy overrratted and so is Brook Lopez..The only reason why Lopez is soo well known is bz he was mentioned 100 times a day when the Nets were trying to get Dwight..8 rebonds a game for a center is not gonna cut it..Hes weak like Pau Gasol..
BTW I DO THINK NETS ARE BETTER THAN THE KNICKS THO..
East Reserves:
Joakim Noah
Brook Lopez
Tyson Chandler
Paul Pierce
Paul George
Brandon Jennings
Kyrie Irving
West Reserves:
Tim Duncan
David Lee
Zach Randolph
James Harden
Stephen Curry
Russel Westbrook
Tony Paker
That seems very reasonable but i think one big is going away so bosh is in there
replace daivd lee with Jamal Crawford and instead of zach randolph it should be Andre Iguodala
I is hopin dat my son Gerald “The Bicyclist” Wallace makes it. Boy’s puttin up staggerin #’s on da Nets!!?!! What!??!! Its uh brand new team!?!!?
Stephen Curry and David Lee all the way
Also to add, this will give josh smith the ability to be noticed if atlanta is looking to trade him
I think randy foye on the Utah Jazz should be in the 3 point contest!
and I also think Al Jefferson should be a reserve if not a damn starter hes a true center!
Utah Jazz fan right here screw all the band wagon fans!
curry, lee, parker, duncan, bosh and lopez. deserves to be an all star.
I’ll tell you what!
There should be a limit of 2 All-Stars per team. Too much rep from one team takes away from one of the only compelling things about the All-Star game–the one time you get to see some of the best talents compete together as teammates, instead of against one another. If you want to watch Dwade, LeBron, and CBosh play together, watch a Heat reg season game!
BROOK LOPEZ IS DESERVER TO BE AN ALL-STAR GAME.
BROOK LOPEZ IS BEAST IN EASTERN CONFERENCE AS CENTER.
EAST RESERVES:
Noah
Chandler
Irving
Paul George
Jennings
Holliday
Josh Smith, Deng, or Bosh
NATE ROBINSON!! =p Just kidding
Monta ellis! 2nd best scoring shooting guard in the east!
It´s even better for the Spurs not having someone for this game, would be more time for rest x)
On the roster are the most famous players but not necessarily the best
I think damian lillad should make the all-star team! Every night he puts up good stats and you’d compare him close to micheal Jordan. I think lillard as a rookie should get atleast some votes!
DAVID LEE AND CURRY BETTER BE IN
DAVID LEE AND CURRY SHOULD BE IN
GREIVIS VASQUEZ
DAMION LILLARD thats whats uo…
I think it should be for my opinion these one’s
James Harden : west
Kyrie Erving :east
Tyson Chandler :east
