In the wake of the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., NBA players took to Twitter to share their grief and also some thoughts on the unthinkable events.

  1. Fallyn says:

To everyone, feeling such a void this christmas because of this tragedy, keep God close, your family closer and remember to hug them. I don’t think I can FULLY comprehend what the Newtown’s family are going through.

Compare the murder rate in the USA to China, then tell me that.

  5. My prayers go the families who lost their loved ones, condolences from portugal!

All I can think of is these children never had a chance, a chance to experience their dreams. I feel sorry for the families that will have their hearts broken forever. God Bless them all.

  7. Ben says:

Such a tragic event.. My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected.. Much love from Australia

  8. Saddam Hussein says:

On the same day a man in China(who has VERY strict gun regulation) stabbed 22 adolescents at a school. Guns laws don’t do anything, lol.

  9. Dre says:

So many sick people out there it’s scary. I have no idea how someone could have the nerve to start shooting little kids (or anyone else for that matter) just for the sake of it.

Obviously those events, sadly, have always happened but I was thinking that we’re approaching December 21, 2012, the day some nuts believe the world will end. So I’m a bit worried that there could be more people out there planning to do something along those lines in the next few days since their mindset could be: “Oh, who cares, in a few days everything will be over anyway so I’m not really hurting anyone”. We’ve already seen something similar, though on a much smaller scale (thankfully), in Portland a few days ago.

We’re at a point that, whenever we plan to go outside, even just to take a walk, we should wear a bullet-proof vest or something. It’s getting ridiculous.

  10. Mohd Eesa says:

This is Madness, poor little Angels… This is the cause and effect of too much freedom!!! Prayers and sympathy to those parents and relatives for their lost…

  11. erwin says:

My prayers and condolences to the victims family. Im not an American but I do hope your government finds a solution to this kind of tragedy, this is not a force of nature that cannot be prevented. Im a father of four and it makes me sick to read news like that shooting in Connecticut.

  12. Ross says:

I don’t know how some people think its okay to do this is in a elementary school it makes you sick to your stomach they should always think at first who they are pulling the trigger on not on someone’s child they should know how sick that is prayers to the familes in CT to those loved ones.

  13. vennessa says:

what kind of sick individiual would do this?????? my prayers go out to all the families.

  14. TS says:

Many modern day video games are very realistic and horribly violent. Perhaps these sick people can’t turn them off?

  15. Marco Polo says:

it’s really so sad for me. I’m agaonst shooting. they are shouting kids!!!!!! Praying for kids and families in CT

  16. Sad day says:

Change the weapon rights and politics, establish security checks at all education facilities nation wide, and clean the streets. Better to invest in this sector, than army and weapon sectors. Sad day for entire nation, god help you.

My Condolences to all the families who lost someone in that tragic accident, and also MY PRAYERS TO THE LAKER HOPEFULLY THEY CAN MAKE IT TO THE PLAYOFFS HEHEHEHEHE…..

  18. Lie Xiao Han says:

I am not American citizen, but hearing this news is a nightmare for every human being. I have a 3 year old niece, and i just can’t imagine how, of all things, people can killed so many children. They are innocent, yet they had gone before their time.

My deepest condolences to all those families affected by the tragedy. This is, indeed, a dark day for us all, because humanity shows its dark side. The world is no longer safe, and you can’t make it better by making guns banned. People can still harm others with other means than gun.

  19. AltH85 says:

It’s so sad…but even more sad is the fact, that nothing will change over there. Condolences from Germany.

  20. FroGi says:

So many kids died, how is this even possible to have happen in a school, if im remembering correctly there ware few more shootings in schools before, why not prevent this from happening, where was the police, why was there no security in the school…
There is nothing any1 would say or do to make thous families feel any better,
When i read the part where the children ware screaming they dont want to die they just want Christmas to there teacher i literally busted in to tears…

  21. Martin says:

My condolences for everyone who is affected by the shooting in Connecticut. This is a monstrous act committed by inhumane creature. May God be with you! Prayers for everyone!

  22. Zeke says:

WHY! This is just disgusting, how could someone even kill another human other than self defense in a life or death situation, let alone harm a child who is completely innocent. What is wrong with these psychopaths! I’m from UK and don’t agree with death for another death but these people should be locked in a box room 24/7 for life with nothing (no bed, no sheets), no people to talk to and the same food everyday and maybe atleast they’ll see how twisted they’re. I seriously hate seeing this stuff.

  23. Need guns?!

For what Jacob?! The primary and sole use of a gun is to maim or kill another being. Unless you intend to do so what use could you possibly have for one?

That’s the thing most people own it for the sake of owning it, they won’t ever use it. How can you be surprised when someone is mentally disturbed and can access a gun that easily, with intent they will kill others.

Get it out of your heads america that you are victims! Stop living in fear! Stop watching fox news and the propoganda of fear! Demand change from your Government!

There is no point allowing such a tragedy to happen and doing absolutely nothing about, otherwise it’s just another waste of life and opportunity. And all those well wishes are empty and meaningless without action!

Come on NBA players use your status to instigate change! Would you forgive yourself if it were your kids!?

  24. iivviiccaa79 says:

there si something terribly sick in USA society and you need to address it….it happens too often!

  25. edawg says:

cant blame the gun laws…the law is already on the books….you cannot posses a firearm anywhere near school property

  26. Jacob says:

No do not ban guns, we need guns…# FALSE FLAG

  27. SynByn says:

I teared up when I read these.

  28. manuel rodriguez says:

prayers go out to those families affected in this tradgety and know that the world understands your pain caring lets us feel your pain and we are witj you every step of the way

  29. God? says:

This is awful, it really is, but what is with all of these ‘prayer’ comments?

Do they ACTUALLY think there is a God out there worth worshipping who would allows something like this to happen? Face it people, if God does exist, he sure as hell isn’t listening

    • fdjlakers1 says:

Maybe He is distant because it is we who are not listening. Our country has gone off the deep end and no longer worship or respect the God you say is not listening. We don’t want Him in our schools, our government, or in our entertainment…..and we are getting what we want.

This shooting is something that depresses me deeply. I am not easily brought to tears, but I can’t watch the news or even mention this incident without breaking down. I am sure most of us feel this way, for it is excruciating to hear of a child being hurt like this…..let alone a whole school of children.

Wow. What a choice: take guns away from the public, forget the 2nd Amendment, and hope for a little more safety…..or keep the freedom upheld by the 2nd Amendment and wait for another nutcase to get noticed by doing something like this again. We are truly a lost nation and crumbling Empire…..from within.

  30. francis93 says:

    yesterday ….it wasn’t a game….just the horrific reality………the end of our world

  33. ronron says:

I avoided looking at the news once this broke, this is insanity, these are our babies………I am physically sick

  34. Ilan says:

We must confiscate all guns. Is Obama a good pres? If he is he needs to show it to us. Change the lawsof being able to own a gun. There should be a new rule. If you want a gun go to the police station.

  35. justin says:

this is just sicking to my stomach as well i cant imagine how can one guy can kill little accident kids mines prayers will go out to all the people who was lost in this tragic

    • Kobe is GOAT says:

Can you rephrase that? It made no sense.

OT: Yeah that was stupid of him, why would you do that? Most illogical.
Agree with other’s, there needs to be more gun laws.

  36. JP says:

i live in CT and this jus made me realize how precious life is, and how it can quickly be takin away from u smfh…ma prayers goes to those who lost their kid(s), all i can do is look ma daughter in the eyez and jus hold ha tight

  37. Yave says:
