HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS – Hall of Famer and Boston Celtics great Bill Russell is recovering from a recent heart procedure and “feeling better,” according to an ESPNBoston.com report.
Russell’s business manager Stuart Layne cleared up previous reports about Russell’s status to Chris Forsberg:
Celtics vice president of media relations/alumni relations Jeff Twiss spoke with Layne on Monday and relayed that Russell is on the road to recovery.
Former New York Post columnist Peter Vecsey Tweeted on Monday that Russell underwent two heart procedures that left him unable to travel from Seattle for a golf event in Long Island.
Layne noted that Russell is up and about and feeling better each day.

Is this going to delay his comeback? He’s still better than the true centers the Celtics have on the roster.
you want him to comeback and play in the court? are you crazy? the guy is old! lol
Bill Russell never ages. He’s too awesome to age, just like Highlander!
Yes, he’s scheduled to play this coming season. Although he may be traded to LA, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Get well soon coach, you’re the best ever.
The winning standard bar none 11 rings player/coach. Never took digs at the others who came after him, some of these players today need 2 take a page from him. Where did the professionalism go? Guess it went with the shoe deals, media marketing. Just think Bill and the others played when there wasent outside deals paying you more than your contract, and no free agency. Through it all they remained true to the game. Get well Bill.
Well these days russell in his prime would have been a power forward, but i think he still would lead the league in rebounding & won at least 1 ring, the guy was so good defensively.
I’m just waiting for LBJ to say that he should sign with the heat. That just might make my day. Go Lakers
Mr. Russell,
Get well soon!!!
Hope you get better Bill
Wishing you a speedy recovery, ‘Big Brother Bill.’
Good job, but you’ll never be better than me
Try me..
