Spain Outlasts Stubborn Australia 82-70

LONDON – Spain followed up their opening day win over China with another strong effort in a 82-70 win over Australia.

Pau Gasol led Spain with 20 points. Rudy Fernandez added 17 points. Marc Gasol finished with 12. And they did all of this without the services of their captain and one of their leading scorers. Juan Carlos Navarro sat out with a sore left foot.

Australia (0-2) got 12 points each from Joe Ingles and Brad Newley.

If only we could breed some big 7 footers Down Under who are not injury prone???? Luc Longley and now Andrew Bogut both seemed to miss a lot more international games than they play. Anyone out there over 7foot, can play basketball and has a great grandmother who was Australian should immediately contact Basketball Australia.

I dont think Australia isnt that bad if we had Kyrie Irving (if he played for Australia) and Bogut basically everyone healthy Australia couldnt be underestimated

      imagine it
      PG – Irving
      SG – Mills
      SF – Ingles
      PF – Andersen
      C – Bogut

along with ok bench but unfortuately i can only dream and hope

Yeah, but the reffing was terrible! How the heck does Australia not get their first free throw shot until midway through the third quarter?

I think the “reputation” of playing against the Gasols and Ibaka didn’t help. Plus we’re too undersized at the 4/5.

nba is the league for the big boys, and these american team is from that league, so world vs. usa will probably have the same result, not a chance for the world, sad but true!
