Report: Howard Won’t Go Back To Magic

HANG TIME, TEXAS– No matter where he plays next season, Dwight Howard should have his agent sign an endorsement deal with IHOP. Only a pancake griddle has more flip-flops than his story.

He’s going. He’s staying. He’s going. He’s staying. He plans to retire and become a coconut farmer on an island in the South Pacific. OK, we made that last one up. We think.

After meeting on Wednesday with new Magic general manager Rob Hennigan, the word is that the All-Star center wants to be in L.A. in this summer, Brooklyn in January or Dallas next July.

But according to Jarrod Rudolph of RealGM, the one scenario that Howard will not consider for a moment is a return to Orlando for the 2012-13 season:

Hennigan’s pitch to Howard had a heavy focus on the two men developing a relationship that would be valuable to the Magic moving forward. He expressed a sincere interest in getting to know the six-time All-Star and working with him to improve the team. Howard, however, was expecting an outline of how the team planned to improve and get back to a championship-contending level, something he didn’t receive during the hour-long meeting, according to sources.

Howard was staunch in his stance and again made it clear to Hennigan that he has no desire to return to Orlando. He told the 30-year-old general manager that he would “never sign another contract with the Magic,” according to sources that spoke with RealGM.

During the meeting, Howard informed Hennigan that he would be willing to re-sign with the Lakers at the end of the 12-13 season if the two teams were able to complete a trade.

The scenarios Howard was open to during the meeting were: An immediate trade to the Lakers, a January trade to the Brooklyn Nets or a clean break at the end of the 2012-13 season. But he was clear that he would not return to the Magic, choosing to leave as a free agent after the season, sources told RealGM.

Hennigan informed Howard that he didn’t have any deals in the works and wasn’t quite sure how to respond to what he was told, according to sources. Hennigan was noncommittal on any of the discussed scenarios as the meeting ended.

Hennigan’s noncommittal approach has only frustrated Howard more as it’s believed that several acceptable offers have been presented to the Magic only to be turned down due to a lack of a true intent to trade him, sources said.

As if all that weren’t enough to dump in the lap of Hennigan, who has been on the job for just over a month, Howard said that if a deal satisfactory to him could not be reached by the trade deadline, he plans to play out his contract and sign with Mark Cuban’s Mavericks when he becomes a free agent in 2013. That comes from Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports:

“Dwight remained unchanged in his want to be traded,” a source with knowledge of the meeting said. “And he has no intention of signing another contract extension with Orlando.”

Dwight Howard remains steadfast in his demand to be traded to the Lakers.

Without a deal that would deliver him to the Lakers in the near future, sources said Howard wants Henningan to revisit trade talks with the Brooklyn Nets in January, when center Brook Lopez is eligible to be traded. If deals don’t surface with the Lakers or Nets, Howard plans to sign with the Dallas Mavericks as a free agent in the summer of 2013.

While the Lakers and Nets won’t have the salary cap space to sign Howard, nor the opportunity to execute a sign-and-trade deal under new CBA rules, the Mavericks will be flush with cap space next summer. Mavs owner Mark Cuban plans to make a run at Howard, and potentially another star player, to join Dirk Nowitzki.

While we feel for Hennigan, who is only trying to examine every possibility and do what’s best for the Magic franchise going forward, it’s pretty clear now that he has reached at least one dead end. After all that he’s put the loyal fans of Orlando through over the past eight months, including the disingenuous act of signing away his ability to “opt out” as a free agent last March, did anyone really think Howard was going to face the music and wear a Magic jersey onto the floor at the Amway Center in the long term?

Henningan is now in virtually the same position as Masai Ujiri, another first-year GM, in Denver two seasons ago when Carmelo Anthony had the Nuggets over a similar barrel. He’s talked, he’s cajoled, he’s pleaded, he’s given it his best shot. Now it’s time to simply sit down and hammer out the best deal that he can make for Howard.

In the end, Ujiri got a nice package of Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, Wilson Chandler and Raymond Felton, along with draft picks from the Knicks. When he flipped Felton to Portland for Andre Miller a few months after Denver’s 2011 playoff appearance, the Nuggets had a core of their playoff team that is happy going forward.

It’s time for the Magic to start moving forward as well and without delay. By waiting until January to deal with Brooklyn when Lopez becomes trade eligible, he would be continuing an untenable situation that could become ugly in Orlando.

The choices seem to be either swapping Howard to the Lakers or taking the bundle of young players and draft picks he could get from Houston and letting the erstwhile Superman become the Rockets’ problem.

Except for orders at IHOP, the time for flip-flipping is done.

If the nba could do this that would be crazy-

    PG: RAJON RONDO
    SG: JOE JOHNSON
    SF: CARMELO ANTHONY
    PF: TYSON CHANDLER
    C: DWIGHT HOWARD

TRADE AMARE STOUDIMEIRE FOR DWIGHT HOWARD

  2. NYKnicks says:

Lets all be foreal and stop targetting Dwight Howard. Now let me just tell you something Dwight is a good man. He is also very kind because he didnt want to do what lebron did. lebron left cleveland with nothing and just went to miami. but Dwight he didnt want to leave orlando he loved orlando and wanted them to have some good players that can help orlando out so thats why he signed a one year deal and was told that would be traded before the season starts. ok so lets just get this clear and get him to another team.

  3. MVP 24 says:

kobe is better than lebron way more clutch better shooter and better 1one 1 defender and has 5 rings by the time lebron gets his second ring jared sullinger will be a hall of famer, and i think bynum is more skilled than dwight and has better footwork

  4. Choker says:

Dallas should get him. (not a dallas fan, i just dont want the rockets to get him and have the trouble or the lakers get him because bynum is great and has room to improve. Dallas trade Kaman, Brand, 2 1st round draft picks and cash

  5. heat 6 says:

Come on people I do not care where Dwight go a just guarantee that Ray allen in the heat that it now body can beat the heat this season. Yes I know everyone talks his a old man (bla, bla, bla) but we are talking about the greatest three ponit shoterr in the league. And talking about lebron remember if you are a free agent you can go anywere but you know the difference, that james never ask to trade remember that so for the hater you better star to showing some love for this men becase this year he silence the critics and for those kobe fans when kobe win his first championchip he dont came a nba final mvp.

  6. BynumSupporter@Manila says:

C’mon guys.. LA is NOT in need of Dwight.. Shooter, shooter, shooter is what they need.. Bynum has more moves than Dwight and he will become the best center in 2 to 3 yrs.. Don’t do the trade!! PLEASE!!!

  7. bullfrog says:

Hey Orlando, for win-win solution and to make everyone happy… why don’t you trade “Big cry baby” Diwght to Real Madrid Spain or Guangdong Southern Tigers China? I just want to see real NBA game but not an soap opera.

      Heats
      Pg Nelson
      Sg Allen

      Pf bosh
      C Howard
Miami would do much better wt Lebron and Howard instead of wade n James

      • extremedriver says:

They would never, I repeat, never give up Wade unless it was the last option on Earth. And I’m a llllooonggg-time Knicks fan who knows the Knicks would do the same by never giving up Melo unless it was the last option on Earth.

Get lost already. He doesnt even know where he wants to play… “I want Brooklyn”… “I want the Lakers”… “Ill leave and sign with the Mavericks”. As a long time Magic fan, I dont care where he goes or who they get in return, just go.

  15. This is Ridiculus says:

This sickens me.Howard is a big cry baby.He wants ONLY the Nets now the Lakers then wait til’ free agency now either trades to L.A,Brooklyn OR he’ll go to the Mavs in the 2013 summer.Glen Davis is more mature then him.Dwight’s nickname should be Dwight “Big Baby” Howard.

  16. Milkyway says:

Trade Howard in exchange for spiderman and batman..BEST TRADE EVER!!!..

  17. M.O.B. says:

i totally agree wit the guy at the top…kobe is the best player in the nba pple. lebron is good but i feel as though he is ah lil punk for leavn the cavs to get an easy win. i think durant is way talented than him also.

  18. JL says:

Trade him to the Lakrs. Sure the Lakers don’t have draft picks, but they do have an endless list of young guards sitting on the bench. JOhnson-Odom shows he can help on D, Goudelock is a shooter, Eyenga is starting to remind people of the old number 8, and MOrris has a ton of upside if he gets playing time. GIving up 1 or two of theses players and packaging them with Bynum for Howard and Jason richardson’s contract, they can get the deal through. Or they can just have a three team trade with the Cavs once Bynum gets an extension. THen since they resigned Hill, they can trade Gasol for a package of bench players to bolster the bench, move Hill to starting forward, and get this S*it over with.

  19. Rovict says:

    Starting five:
    PG: Nash
    SG: Kobe
    SF: Gasol
    PF: Bynum
    C: Howard

Trade Howard for MWP and Murphy and Blake..

  20. heat fan says:

I heard rumors that the heat are picking up the HULK, IRON MAN, AND INVISIBLE MAN. hulk down low in the post no one can stop him!!! Iron man can hover above the rim and receive alley oops all day long!! Finally invisible man NEED I SAY MORE he’ll set the record for steals in one game!!!!……………Alright that was dumb everyone else was making absurd comments so I wanted to add my two cents too. But ???? and House are right every championship team had two or more superstars so quit hating on the heat. the heat may not win 5, 6, 7,……..but AT LEAST they will be A MAJOR threat to go to the finals every year bar any injuries.

  21. Bok says:

Trade Howard to the Lakers for Gasol, Artest & Blake. Better than nothing.

  22. House says:

The HEAT are no different from past champions. People forget Birds rookie year the celtics were not good then they get Parrish and Mckaleand DJ, Bulls Pippen and grant, then second time they get Rodman. Kobe didn’t win till Shaq was there and then they went and got Gasol, Bynum, Odom. The only one who didn’t have to get players was Magic because the team was already stacked they just needed a leader. So to say what the Heat did is wrong. It has been done throughout the history of the game. I think people are up in arms because it involves one of the best in the league. If you ask all the stars of those teams every one will tell you they could not win it alone. At some point they all realized and some publicly stated they needed help. Stop hating on LBJ and the Heat. They did what all champions have done. You build teams in professional sports and that is what took place.

    • Fan says:

McHale and Perish were acquired through the draft and trading of picks. Pippen and Grant had to be developed from the draft. The only good comparison would be the Lakers getting Shaq or Gasol and even Gasol was acquired through trades. The difference is that the Heat managed to do it through free agency. Is it wrong? Absolutely not. But most people don’t see it as the “right” way. Back than, lots of teams had all stars. Seattle, LA, Hornets, Knicks, Bulls, Spurs, Pistons, Celtics, Heat, 76er’s, Hawks, the list goes on. They all had role players as well but none had the same free agent swing as the Heat. That’s probably the only reason why fans these days don’t appreciate a championship. The only teams I see building properly through the draft are SAS and OKC. Although I’m no fan of the Heat, they earned it this year after getting beat by the Mavericks so respect is given when it’s earned.

  23. ???? says:

hey guys, just lettin you know, no team has ever won a championship with only one superstar.
    KOBE=SHAQ
    JORDAN=PIPPEN (RODMAN)
    DUNCAN=PARKER GINOBILI
    PIERCE=ALLEN GARNETT
    WALLACE= HAMILTON BILLUPS
    LEBRON=WADE BOSH
    BIRD=MCHALE PARISH

    when you win, you win!!
these superstars can do whatever they want and did what they want its really up to them

ALL TEAMS WITH CHAMPIONSHIPS HAD 2 OR 3 SUPERSTARS.

    ALWAYS!!!!!!

  24. Lakerland says:

I’m a Laker fan , just give that superwomen to the Rockets already !!!
We don’t need need that fool , our team is complete enough to compete against any other NBA team.
Think about it … our starting 5 and our bench…
    PG Nash
    SG Bryant
    SF World Peace
    PF Gasol
    C Bynum

and we still got Blake , Jamison , Barnes , Murphy and a couple of new guys of the bench , who’s complaining ? not me …
PS sorry for My English i’m from Belgium

  25. Chris says:

Funny stuff. All these “reporters” and fans having a different story to tell about somebody maybe going somewhere and the next day it’s a new story to tell… And then you put it like the player changes his mind every single day… I mean, I don’t know. I wasn’t there, I’m from Germany. But I don’t feel all this guessing stuff. All this nonsense every single day is seriously hollarious.

I am not da Dwight-fan. And I don’t like the Magic anyways. So I really don’t care how this summer movie ends. But what if Dwight isn’t even the bad guy in this whole story???

Why didn’t he opt out in the first place? At that point he already knew he wasn’t gonna resign with Borelando. Makes me come to two possible cenarios: 1: He is flat out dumb and loves the drama (not very realistic); 2: Otis told him bulls%§t and he did the Magic a favor to get something back for him in a trade instead of just leaving them with empty pockets…and nothing happened and that’s the main reason why Otis is gone now (seems more realistic, at least to me)!

  26. mhac says:

    go to the heat……..

  27. santoryuu says:

dont worry guys.. dwight howard will be traded to L.A.

    The L.A Sparks

  28. deee12 says:

Howard doesn’t really want the to go with the best chance of winning. He just wants to punish the Magic for not giving him the right pieces to compete. Im with Dwight in this.

  29. SHARK says:

After Dwight Howard expressed his intentions of leaving Orlando, the ball went to the teams who wants, and CAN do something about getting Howard.
Are the Lakers willing to give up either Bynum or Gasol for Howard?
Are the Nets ready to make the winning decision and make the gamble for Howard?
Are the Rockets interested in going back to rebuild their team with a dominant center and get Howard?
Are the Magic ready to move on and give their fans the peace-of-mind, and just move Howard?
Or did the NBA decide to wait for Dwight Howard to make another LeBron “…bring my talents to South Beach…” media day?

  30. REDOWL says:

    Fran BlinBurry,

Everyone writes about Dwight Howard’s drama, but what about the dust Kevin Love kicked up in Minnesota?…….

Kevin Love wants to win now…

    Michael Beasly: gone
    Wesley Johnson: gone
    future 2nd round pick: gone
    Derrick Williams: in trade talks……..?

    So much for potential……..

  31. All u guys, CELTICS is my team…i like too ask u guys how many titles CELTICS have got…We are the best…but the moment are different…we must luck aead… the momment change…Bird, MJ, and Magic time is best past time…this is new time. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GREN.

  32. Christiaen says:

Please, just stop this nonsense about Dwightmare.
He’s just a spoiled brat, nothing more.
I hope Orlando works out a trade with a team he doesn’t want to go to, and let him sort it out afterwards.
Then, if he doesn’t come to an agreement with that team, he’ll just have to return to Orlando for the final year of his contract and face the fans he’s been letting down. That will bring him down from the clouds he’s been residing on. Just a total shame this guy.

  36. D12 need to come to LA for the best chance of him getting a ring soon. If he was smart he’ll come to LA then it will be his team once Kobe leaves in a couple of years. It never rain in southern California d12 HAHA sunshine and palm trees no hurricanes …

  37. Chris says:

He’ll come to LA. He’s too much drama not to. We’ve got hollywood and the Kardashians, he’ll fit right in!

  38. Dew says:

Howard to Spurs is best. Rebuild twin towers and have Pop coach the big men to victory once again. Trade Blair, Neal or just about any combination not involving the big 3 of SA while adding some future picks. Parker, Manu, Leonard, Duncan and Howard would dominate! Jackson and Diaw still coming in off the bench for more fire power. Howard would give the Spurs the inside edge in the paint they need in combination with Timmy to get it done against OKC and Miami. We were close last year. Within a couple close buckets and some OKC flop calls of the finals. SA still going to be in the competition with or without him. This is certain. Would be a guarantee with him though.

  39. Mark says:

The smart and honourable thing for Dwight to have done would have been to go to free agency, find a team he wanted to sign with, then have the Magic and that team negotiate a sign-and-trade… Dwight goes were he wants, the Magic gets something in return, and everyone can get on with their lives…

  40. HeyHey says:

Media turning people against a great player, using the fact there are so many haters to spin a story. It’s hard to leave a fanbase. It’s not easy for Howard and the fact he flip flops over staying with a terrible team and management says something about the fact he is choosing whats best for him over trying to pelase people and is at odds. Hate all these banwagon hate fans here

  41. Mark says:

If I’m the Magic I’d be tempted to treat Howard with the same disregard as he’s treated the franchise, and just amnesty him… Start all over again. Surely that would be better than enduring this ridiculous circus for the entire season because Dwight didn’t sign off on any “satisfactory” trades.

    • Fan says:

What has the franchise done for him? Bring in players like Arenas, big baby Davis, Richardson, and Turkoglu. All of which besides Davis are all on the wrong side of the NBA careers.

      • Mark says:

The Orlando Magic is run for the Orlando Magic and its fans… Not for Dwight Howard. On top of that, they’ve paid him a ridiculous amount of money, and put up with all of his garbage for some time now… They also (misguidedly, in my opinion) sacked Stan Van Gundy and Otis Smith for him.

      • Fan says:

The Magic as an organization failed to build a contending team. Simple. Smith didn’t bring anyone to help Dwight. SVG stuck with 4 out 1 in for so long, I think anyone would’ve figured out how to stop it if it weren’t for Dwight being so dominant. Plus, I’m still not sure what he was thinking when he played Nelson over Alston in the 09 Finals. Alston was on a roll. Of course they pay him a lot of money, there aren’t a lot of players with his caliber of skill. If we all could do that the NBA would be a joke.

    • MackDaddy says:

Orlando hasnt done ANYTHING to warrant holding on to Howard in the years he’s played there.

Howard is under no obligation to play somewhere he doesnt want to be, so the arguement that he’s done Orlando wrong somehow is false.

Orlando wouldnt be in this situation if they made improvements over the years to surround Howard with calibre players. That’s their job… and they didnt do it. So why should Howard stick around and waste his time with them?

Furthermore, Orlando has had ample chances to trade Howard with reasonable return in quality players. Howard did them a favour by signing away his right to walk, and what did it get him?? Headache and feeling cheated out of goodwill he gave to the organisation.

Nup… Orlando stuffed this up long ago. And now they are going to pay for it. And the way they are going right now, they are going to get NOTHING for Howard- just like Shaq.

You’d think you’d learn from that history lesson- but maybe Orlando didnt.

  42. awardwriter says:

@ John Some of what you say is true, but some of it is teams not knowing how to build contenders. Teams like Lakers and Celtics don\’t have problems keeping their franchise players. I firmly believe that super star players know better who can help them win, and when the team is always going in a differe direction, what\’s a player to do? Waster the prime years of his career LOSING? I really think players want to help build a contender with the teams they are drafted by, but if after 5 or 6 years go by and you still can’t get over the hump and they are not bringing in the players you think you need to win…. Well, what would you suggest they do? I’m with them, I’m going where I can win if you won’t put me in position to do it here. Their not just fleaing to play with other superstars (though it might appear that way), they are going to play in organizations that kow how to put winning products on the floor. Miami, LA, NY and Boston, these are all winning franchises, who not surprisingly have attracted and/or been able to keep other superstar players.

  43. Broderick says:

Those Celtics, Pistons and Lakers teams had some of the greatest players of All Time so you people are all biased. MJ didn’t win until he got Pippen and Grant. Lebron went to the finals by himself and younger than Jordan. Kobe had the most dominant player in the game, the most clutch player in the game, the best defender in the game and another top 5 big man, respectively at different times. The Suns, Kings, Knicks, Magic, Hornets, and Blazers and T’Wolves loaded up. Great teams come together on way or another. If you think not you people are idiots. If an owner can do whats in the interest of his team why can’t a player sell his brand. It’s business but I don’t think you should complain in public. If you’re not happy move on. Btw Kobe whines all the time and D Rose in not on Lebrons level

  44. Beast says:

If I was the gm of the Miami heats I would trade wade and charmers for Nelson and Howard wade is a great player but I believe Miami would be unstoppable with Nelson a good pg ray Allen their sg Lebron sf bosh pf and Howard in the C position r if I was the knicks gm I would trade stardom ire and a few first n second round piks for Howard I don’t believe lakers need Howard the jus need a few good role players and a good consistent sixth man.

I like Dwight, but all this drama is nonsense. As soon as possible once the season starts, just amnesty the ….. (I know that isn’t going to happen, but it would be funny because he’d need to get picked up by a team under the cap and most likely find out what it means to play for a sub500 team)

  50. D says:

Without been made fun of for not 100% understanding the cap but dont the lakers care about the new luxury tax penalties? Also, there has to be a line when the NBA should block a trade that would put lakers wages closer to $100mil. Its double other team wages and really makes the NBA as a sport look like a joke This isnt soccer where its the same two teams every year. All teams should be on the same playing field

  51. BUlls fan says:

Dwight Howard needs to get back to REALITY. There is only one place for him and that is the Lakers. I really don’t see why he is not coming

  53. spurs fan says:

why all the heat fans wants all the superstar on there roster?are you scared or anything?everytime there was a superstar trade rumor the heat fans wants the superstar go to heat and then they post there imaginary roster again come on…leave on reality all the heat fan think before you comment there’s no way that D12 will go to the heat PERIOD..the best D12 trade is go to the nets because the magic get young talent and i think future round pick..im not a magic fan but Howad is too much demanding..im glad to see that howard have a devastating injury that will end his career then if he recover he want to go back and play in nba then the teams dont want him anymore..1st im a howard fan but now his to much cry baby i want to teach him a lesson :)

Yall Crazy The Magic Aint Getting My Jeremy Lamb No Time Soon Or Terrence Jones, Or Royce White They Can Have Whoever They Want But Those 3 Are A No Go Best Believe That.!

  56. lolakers says:

Dwight will probably go to the lakers, because he wants to win and the Magic want something in return for losing Howard. Howard will probably solidify his career as a Mutombo-level center (very good defense, mediocre offense), especially with the kobe show shouldering the offensive load. At the end of the day, this is all just blown out of proportion because people expect Dwight to be one of the all-time greats. Sorry to break it to you, he’s not worth that much. Want to see a truly talented center with a higher ceiling? DeMarcus Cousins!

  57. matt says:

The magic need to sort themselves out. Howard was basically gone a while ago now, we haven’t made the most of what we could get for him…and also all the other stuff like no coach and Anderson…this is getting to be a joke. Sort it out!

  58. BUlls fan says:

trade loul deng and jokim noah for dwight , there not gona get 2 all stars any where else

  59. BUlls fan says:

y is everyone calling dwight names when ithe gm is making a big drama about it about how they are gona trade him to houston then no then to lakers then no , all he said he will leave after the season , tbut its the magic gm making a big drama about it

  60. Look, is it possible to just leave that fool out there, maybe he won’t play with anybody and the Magic can head back toward sane. Just sayin’. Howard is a cracked pot.

  61. TTKIN says:

Orlando cant be stupid enough to think that after the last year or so he would be willing to actually sign long term.

That being said, I honestly think Orlando is just keeping him on the roster to piss him off. they could trade for bynum and “be in the same situation”, the difference is that Bynum isnt creating a scene like Dwight. Meaning they clearly dont mind having his attitude around for a little while longer. Flip him to Houston and let him bitch and cry there.

  62. Lalaker says:

like all the stupid Heat fans haven’t had enough…

they keep begging for even more.

FOR THE LAST TIME>> HOWARD IS NOT GOING TO MIAMI!!!! SHUT UP!

  63. lbj says:

Dwight to miami for haslem and 2 first round picks and turiaf and joel anthony and dexter pitman and juwan howerd. BEST TRADE!

  64. for fck sake stop that wishful thinking lbj non sense dude says:

i came here to kill this lbj dude

ontopic: just make a damn deal already,

  65. DHAM says:

YOU OLD SCHOOL GUYS IN YOUR 40′S AND UP NEED TO GET OVER IT. YOU HAD DYNASTIES WITHOUT FREE AGENCY IN THE 80′S WITH BIRD, PARRISH, MCHALE, MAGIC, KAREEM, WORTHY. NOW YOU ANGRY CAUSE NO BIG FREE AGENT’S WANNA HIT CLEVELAND NOT CAUSE OF LEBRON BUT CLEVELAND LOL. LETS BE REAL IF I WAS BORN IN RAISED IN CLEVELAND I WOULD CHOSE SOUTH BEACH. AT LEAST LEBRON STEPPED UP AND MADE A DECISION. DWIGHT HOWARD FOR HIS INDECISION SHOULD BE BOOED ON A NIGHTLY BASIS CAUSE OF HIS INDECISION.

  66. BigGGG says:

Ok what if OKC traded ibaka and harden for Howard. Wouldnt that be a great placve to win

    • rich says:

Ibaka, Harden and next 2 early draft picks, now that’s a deal if Magic want to rebuild at the same time having playoff chances !

  67. Rog says:

I dont care what anyone says, my personal opinion is that dwight howard… when he’s actually into the game..is a 23 points and like 13 rebound player.. throw in 2 blocks.. but the issue with this is when he scores a lot of points.. its soooooooooooooo unefficient that its actually hurting the team. Dwight Howard doesn’t deserve to get put on to a good team and he doesnt deserve to be given what he wants. He talked down jameer nelson, he talked down everyone on the team and he went behind stan van gundy and wanted him fired. He use to be one of my favourite personalities in the NBA, now i just cant stand the guy. Given his track record in the last 2 seasons he’s not the kind of guy I’d want on my team. On top of all that he’s saying he’s not going to sign an extension with anyone… but thats just so the magic wont be able to trade him. Everyone knows he’ll sign an extension.. but for what ever reason he doesnt want to let orlanda decide where he’s going. Quit being a baby your getting paid millions. YOURE LIVING IN ORLANDOO. beautiful weather. Put some effort in the game, hit some free throws and stop trying to get everything easy.

  68. Cab says:

A coconut could have decided faster.

  69. dwight.coward says:

ok i don’t think anybody cares about DWIGHT COWARD anymore. his little princess tactics are getting kinda ugly. i have no clue why he signed an extension like an idiot only to cry about it at the end of the season. just remember dwight, karma is a bitch. lets hope u don’t have a bad injury to end the season and lose out on a lot of money once ur contract is up. and don’t forget, you may be one of the best players right now so you feel like the power is in your hands, but don’t expect to play great forever. once your skills diminish a little don’t be surprised when teams don’t show you any respect and you have a hard time finding work.

  70. Alessio says:

Trade him to the Lakers, the man said it himself he wants the Lakers!

Orlando’s manager Hennigan must be the most stupid manager i’ve ever see in the NBA.

It’s obvious Orlando is playing with Dwight.

  71. Heat fan says:

    I have one question
Why does everyone hate on the heat but for forming thebig three when lakers if they got howard would be doing the same thing
If anything lakers would be better because they have kobe nash pau and howard
    Can anyone tell me

    • MIAMIWHO says:

Dwights nick name isnt King neithr is Kobes or Gasols. If you are a King you shouldnt have to run to another SUPERSTARS team to win a ring. You are suppose to be a King, you should be able to do it with anyone. But reality is, he is far from a King or a real SUPERSTAR.

    • MHM 35 says:

Don’t worry bro I’m an LAL fan but I don’t hate on your MIA team. LAL has a big 4.

LeBron is a talented dude. He and his Big 3 earned that ring. I will admit I actually like the dude (though I don’t see why a true basketball fan would have a problem with admiring the game of someone outside their favorite team).

Here’s the deal. I respect your MIA squad and don’t hate on them, but i will want LAL to beat you every time haha!

  72. Common Sense says:

Wait!!!! Orlando might trade Dwight Howard?!?!?!?!? Can we seriously stop this. Nothing new is coming out of these posts and everyone that once made great posts is losing all of their sizzle. Let’s turn off the TV and stop logging in to NBA.com until the decision has been made.
    Cheers!

  73. kidkastle says:

The Lakers and the Nets have devised a 3 team deal that will send Bynum to the Nets Howard to the Lakers and Lopez to the Magic

  74. 2LiveNdieNLA says:

    Make it happen already then!

  75. Hmmmm says:

Nets,Dallas,L.A.L hmm ok Nets – they wont win a ring if even DH12 going to Nets bc there would be only 2 good players D.Will and DH12 now Dallas- So and Dallas cant get a ring bc meaby dallas goan trade Terry to Celtics and another players is old Dirk, Kidd, Marion so it doesnt fit right L.A.L – best deal Kobe at this age is still one of the best players top Top1-3 L.A.L now have Nash great PG ,World Peace great defender , Pau good player so if DH12 going to Lakers its gonna be a ring thats for sure .

  76. BlaqDan says:

I’m not a big howard fan, but i understand how he feels. The magic have made some pretty bad decisions in the past, from letting nelson start in that finals gamandletting alston go to trading gortat, lewis, and carter then giving old man turkoglu a new contract. Add that to all the promises they made howard that theyd improve the team and refusing his opt out clause, he has a right to want a trade. After his recent injuries i bet he’s aware that he cant play forever and that he wont ever win a ring in orlando. Howard has been great for the city on and.off the court cuz he constantly showed his love for the fans in a very playful manner, not just thru charity. He might b a diva but magic mgmt truly dropped the ball with him. They should have been committed to signing quality players and keeping the onws they had.

  77. Tilney1004 says:

Agreeing with one of the first comments, what is it now with all-stars wanting to play with all-star’s. Whatever happened to beating the best to win title’s, and not just joining 2 other all-stars to win an easy title year in year out. As Bird said about the LBJ/Bosh trade comparing it to his generation, he wanted to beat Magic and Michael to prove he was great, not join them and win a pointless title year in year out, and it also gave us the greatest basketball in history. It’s almost like it’s an easy option, legendary status doesn’t attract these guys, winning easy does.

I hope the Howard situation is sorted soon, it’s becoming boring as hell, I hope he doesn’t go to L.A. just because it represent’s everything that is wrong with current players, no loyalty to a city, no care of the damage they leave, just in it for themselves, the easy option. Legends like John Stockton took salary cuts to help improve the Jazz in the 90′s, Timmy Duncan took a pay cut to help the Spurs get under the tax line. If Howard was to re-sign on a smaller deal, and work with the GM to build a franchise that could contend, even if it took 3-4 years, he’d be twice the player in my eyes than he would be if he just took the easy option of L.A, regardless of how many rings he has in 10 years time. It’s just my opinion, I understand why others want him in their city, he’s a great player, I just think the principle’s of playing for a team have been lost in recent years, and loyalty is sadly becoming non existent.

  78. Swishlem says:

Go to dallas howard! we are waiting for you. dirk and dwight is like duncan and robinson. more better than tim duncan i guess?

  79. Bob says:

Magic general manager ROB HENNIGAN you want to do justice to the Orlando fans??? Please make a smart and good move and workout a trade that bring a good point guard and a strong forward, a center can work out with dos two stars. Trade HOWARD is the best thing that will happened to the club, but a good “”T R A D E”” and let’s move on this chapter of history is close

  80. kobe says:

howard12 should take less money to go to lakers. just saying

  81. DHAM says:

PERSONALLY, I WOULD TRADE DWIGHT FOR A BOOZKA JOE WRAPPER!!! U CAN SAY WHAT U WANT ABOUT LEBRON, U HATERS, BUT HE AT LEAST MADE A DECISION. NOW HE HAS A RING AND U CAN ALWAYS REVAMP IN SOUTH BEACH,(SEE RAY ALLEN, HI BOSTON!!!! LMAO!!!!). AS REAL B-BALL HEADS AND I HAVE BEEN SAYING HOUSTON HAS THE BEST DEAL AND PIECES TO AUTOMATICALLY BE IN THE PLAYOFFS. IF HOUSTON WANTS A BAD BACK RENTAL THAT WONT BE READY MAYBE TILL JANUARY U CAN HAVE HIM. HIT THE SWITCH!!!, ROB HENNIGAN.

  82. Mr. Magic says:

I need to be the GM of the magic:

Houston Martin/ Morris/ Patterson/ Lamb plus draft picks for Howard/ both Richardsons and Dohun

Call Utah get Jefferson/ Milsap and either Hayward or Burks draft pick for Howard/ Davis/ Richardson

Lakers Bynum/ Artest for Howard/ Turk

    GET IT DONE HENNIGAN

  83. Nick Pickering says:

Get rid now and start the re-build. Dwight Howard bottles in big games anyway. What’s the point of scoring 40 points against the likes of the bobcats then going missing against Heat and Celtics.
    GET RID NOW #OverRated

  84. who cares says:

who cares? basketball is the one sport that is obviously fixed its not even entertaining anymore to inconsistent and all the superstars are babies who complain about everything. bunch of little bitche$

  85. yooo says:

THE MAGIC ARE IDIOTS FOR TURNING DOWN THE NETS DEAL…THEY GON LEARN TODAYYY

  86. Cessroy says:

You know I’ve been a raptors fan forever, and I have seen us lose superstars like its water under a bridge, and you know what, you rebuild. Does this guy have a no trade clause, i think not, so trade his a@# anywhere you can get the best deal from. Why accommodate him when he has no intention of doing the same.No player is bigger than the game and he is like a child, just get rid of him and let it be some other teams issue. Loved the old days when you paid a guy millions he actually had respect for the team/city, miss the old days.

  87. BOSSDON says:

Why did you have to throw IHOP under the buss.

  88. jaime says:

  92. Kobe-z says:

Bynum will never be as good as Howard…period….

Since Shaq, Howard has been the best centre to come….these only happen every 10-15 yrs….an elite centre…..

Bynum is very childesh, and his attitude aint what Lakers are about….

    • boy sibuyas says:

what do you think howard a mature person? he is a crybaby he needs to wear diaper instead of basketball pants

  93. GJ says:

Now Hennigan is playing the groveling game at Dwight’s feet again? Really? Trade him immediately to the Rockets and end this drama now. Or to the Lakers for Bynum.

  95. Yeahokaylol says:

Eveyone stop lying to themselves and face the fact he’s going to be a net its the best chance they got now especially since lopez is locked for four years.

  96. notshorey says:

Any team dumb enough to take Howard at this point deserves what they get – a self-centered wanna be great center who needs to be #1 on the team and get all the attention. Watching Dwight’s immature antics over the years in Orlando – all the stupid technical fouls that cost the team wins – and his demand that the team play through him – when that isn’t the best for the team. It is Carmelo Anthony all over again – obviously the guy can play but he is not mature enough to be a true winner. I love the idea of Dwight sitting on the bench for part of the year at Orlando backing up Daniel Orton!

  97. JD says:

Are you kidding me? Throughout this whole drama, Dwight has not only damaged his “brand”, but he’s proven to not be mature enough or basketball-savvy enough to make the best and wisest decision of his career, which would be to become part of the Laker legacy and tradition of great centers. Dwight could further that incredible history by becoming the most dominant DEFENSIVE Laker center ever. Dwight Howard, by your actions, you’ve proven you don’t deserve to join the ranks of the great Laker centers! Let’s keep watching Andrew Bynum mature, grow and develop.

  98. Joao Paulo says:

I’m sorry magic fans but your GM is the stupidest man i have ever seen in my life.

  99. Seamen says:

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=c4x8j3j

Have the Rockets give some draft picks to the Magic

    Then it’s a good trade.

  100. NBA info says:

If i was the orlando magic mangement
i would do a 3 team trade that includes the magic rockets amd cavs

send howard to the rockets and some bad contracts and orlando gets young talent the cavs would get
some bad comtacts from houston ex kevin martin

This is ridiculous. Anyone who thinks Kupchak would trade Bynum to get Howard for a season is OFF THEIR ROCKERS!!! Like the Lakers would make a stupid move like this??!! Give me a friggin’ break!! “Duh, the Lakers are really dumb and they’d totally go for this…DUH!!!!!” Get real people!

  104. basket ball says:

ihop pancake? does this writer even know what he’s writing?

  105. Dave says:

This article makes the GM sound reasonable and Dwight like a monster, the Orlando organization has to understand, that if they wanna play hardball, so might the player…. bad situation… even if they wanna flip flop the role, and suddenly act like benevelont/ reasonable saints, from a business stand point, why would the the player believe them. Howard… take a break.. sort things out.. then come back… but none of that, well… I wanna go here…nnnnooo.. here….no here…

  106. BOY Bawang says:

I’m a MIAMI HEAT fan and I don’t care where D12 gonna end up…. But for L.A. fans who’s hoping for D12 so much where’s your LOYALTY … I got a news for you…. D12 is not alone with that situation…. don’t you even care about BYNUM… Remember ODOM mixed up on trading block to CP3…. What if D12 really wants to be a NETS?… And the trade don’t get through… You might as well gonna lose BYNUM… 2 time NBA champion… and then D12…. Lakers may end up as well NOTHING… The only chance they have to land D12 in Lakers is through trade…. but that won’t guarantee He will sign an extension… D12 can sign as much as 108 million dollars in Brooklyn and then play along with Joe Johnson, D.WIll G. Wallace and Humpries…. Pretty much more contender team than the lakers nash kobe metta world war pau …. Plus Lakers don’t have cap room space to sign D.Howard….

  107. Orlando native says:

poor Rob he is only 30 and has been on the job only for a month and he has to tackle a superstar situation i personally would just try to make the magic better instead of making them worse how about hedo jrich for harden and ibaka what rob has to do is instead of using his words to convince dwight to stay use his actions dont trade dwight the magic have to take a risk and go for it all this coming season or it will be lebron all over again

  108. hooplover says:

ok, so i no longer blame howard alone! it seems to me that hennigan is as much at fault here as howard himself. he’s deliberately held out on offers trying to keep howard in orlando. what? let him go, immediately! he’s made it perfectly clear that he wants out so why try to pursuade him to stay. even if he wanted to stay, he couldn’t, he’s betrayed his fans and getting boo’d everytime you hit the homecourt wouldn’t be good at all. hennigan is not being wise in this matter at all. take a stand and let howard know that the earth doesn’t revolve around him or his wishes! LET HIM GO!

  109. John says:

Honestly, today’s players talk so much about wanting to win and being ready to do anything to win. REALLY??? Have you all considered talking less and hitting the gym more often during the summer to work on your game????? Perhaps, like working on your free throws!!!! This trend of franchise players moving to a different team to pair up with others in order to, hopefully, win, is aboslutely BS. This heat’s title isn’t worth the same as MJ’s, Magic’s or Bird’s titles. It’s not so much about winning titles as it is how you win then, or does anything think that Horry was better than MJ???? My respect goes to ROSE, he’s old school. Works hard and doesn’t kiss up to LBJ when the stupid decision on where to take his talents came about

  110. kobeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee says:

@Denzo yes its a contract but DH is big ballin so he wouldnt mind to sit it out the rest of the year

@bradders read the article at realgm.com or hoopshype.com he does not want to go to houston or else they will be foolish enough to take DH and knowing he’s not committing to them in the end of the year..

My thought will be a 3 team deal which includes BYNUM and DH as the centre piece its either CLE/HOU/LAkers trade to MAgic thats all the options they have right now.. and i dont think they will wait for brook lopez on jan 15 he might be injured at that time!! Remember he broke his foot TWICE ALREADY!!

  111. alx says:

    Trade him to Toronto

  112. markangelo says:

Dwight is the new bad guy in the nba, Orlando will hate him, just give what he demands he’s the real quitter

  113. rye-ian says:

Howard will sing an extension for lakers…heat and lakers for finals….sound interesting…..

  114. rye-ian says:

Go to Lakers Howark and get that ring….

  115. Moker says:

Seriously, I say trade Howard to the worst team in the league and make him play there for a whole season. Star players shouldn’t be allowed to be so picky. I’m tired of hearing these players getting to go where they want, if that’s the case who on earth will want to play for a team other than NY or LA.. I say keep him for 2012-2013 and send him to the D-League.

  116. lets go says:

laaaaaaaaaa gettt dwight i rather have him then bynum

  117. lets go says:

get dwight hes the best nba player hes better then everybody

  118. Kobe-z says:

Trade him to LA kIngs for a bag of hockey pucks…

  119. Celtic fan says:

houston would be dumb to trade straight up for D.H they should work something out to get bynum from the lakers and send the bundle of young pieces to orlando n everybody will be happy .. the diva to lal lakers can contend with okc, bynum will make the rockets a better team n oorl starts to rebuild fast

  120. Yeahokaylol says:

No matter what Dwight Howard will be a net in 2013 they hold the upper hand in all of this do to the fact the main place he wants to be is brooklyn and that is what the other teams are scared about. Which is why nobody is trying to trade for him if the lakers are dumb enough to think he is going to sign for five more years when Kobe and Nash only have 2 more years at their prime there out of there mind. If they send him to houston then 1000% dwight will be a net because he will not sign extension and as the trade deadline draws near they will have no choice but to trade with the nets because they will lose everything if they don’t. Bottom line is Dwight will be a Brooklyn Net in the 2013 season.

  121. MGIC CORE says:

THIS DWIGHTDRAMA IS MAKING EVERYBODY TO PUKE . THIS SITUATION STINKS NEITHER OF THEM ARE ACTING AS PROFESSIONALS. HEY!!! MR MARTIN YOU STILL ON TIME TO GET RID OF THIS UNFIT
GM POSITION GUY NAMED HENNIGAN HE JUST DON’T QUALIFY TO BE IN THAT POSITION. TOO BIG FOR
HIM, PERIOD. THE MAGIC TEAM DOEN’T NEED PRETTY FACES. WE NEED PROFESSIONALS WHO
CAN DELIVER. MR. MARTIN IS YOUR DECISION.

  122. Kingdom says:

    just get rid of him
    he complains soo much

  123. sirsparhawk says:

This author is very biased and really has no idea what he is talking about. RealGM has spoken with dwight throughout this whole ordeal and said taht dwight wanted to stay but orlando kept lying to him to try and get him to sign extensions, finally the straw that broke the camels back was when they said they wouldnt trade stephan jackson and then an hour later did it. Id want to leave as well, Good for you DH, gtfo of there and move on to a real organization. Id like to see him on the lakers just so I can stand watching them since all I get are LA games, but as long as he goes to a real team idc where he goes.

  124. DMVNYC12 says:

They just need to let his butt sit down and not play…Dwight is a big baby, throwing tantrums. He’s not man enough to play in the NBA!!!

  125. Rene says:

You joked about Howard retiring to become a coconut farmer in the South Pacific. You know what, he was down here in Tahiti two summers ago and loved it here! Maybe that scenario is not that far fetched….

  126. luke24 says:

I think this “drama” will end seeing Howard in LA. At all, is my hope, I would really see a nice new boost at Lakers with Superman under the rim, and young Bynum at Rockets, and some draft picks to Magic. I would see Lakers in Finals versus Heat and would be something cool imo. With G Nash, G Bryant, F Artest, F Gasol and C Howard, Lakers would be really hard to be beaten, Anyway, they need a good bench, even they’re working on this tho. Currently with veteran Jamison, chilled Barnes, big Hill, old PG Blake, new shooter Goudelock, Murphy, McRoberts, Ebanks, Morris, Eyenga and drafts, we could see nice Lakers. Hope that Howard will be a Lakers in coming days, I love Bynum so much and he’s too good, but I think Lakers need something like Howard to have a new boost in team. #GoLakers

    p.s I’m Lakers fan.

    • danny thomas says:

Dwight Howard and Dirk Nowitski will be a very dangerous team and will change the west and will also be a play off team. Dallas can afford to give him the maximum pay.Is it possible i don’t know but if it happen they will be a threat to any team.

    • c'z says:

if the magic trade howard for bynum there geting ripped off!! the only time i hear anything about bynum is when he’s hurt or has that one great game every other month. i just wish people would stop talking about him already like he’s anygood, cause if he was the lakers would be in the finals every year..am i wrong?? good score with nash though.

  127. bey krews says:

    Borelando should kick this crybaby!!
Trade him to Houston and get rid of your bad contracts with either turkoglu, richardson or nelson.
That’s the best thing for your organization.
Lakers could’nt absorb the other players contracts so that would be unwise or you could wait till January to trade this primadonna to the nets.

  128. Knorr says:

Trade Dwight to Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, and Britney Spears..
People will flock at Amway Center!

    #ROFL!

  129. join pistons!!! says:

just join pistons and let’s see if they are contender again

    • LAKERS all day says:

the pistons already have two good centers in monroe and drummond! plus dwight wants to go to a team he can win rings with. knight is a solid and future pg, prince and maxiell are both ageing, and gordon is out of his prime! He would be a way better fit with LA they got nash and kobe for one of the best backcourts in the nba and if this trade were to go down they would have gasol and dwight one of the best frontcourts in the nba. He will probbally end up as a laker by november who could resist a great offer like bynum many Future draft picks maybe (troy murphy). Thats the best offer they could get.

  130. cire says:

howard is a person who can’t decide better trade him and orlando will be in the playoffs especially if they will get a young adn talented player who are superstar…..

  131. bradders says:

As a Magic fan I have to think Hennigan is doing exactly what he needs to for the good of the organisation.

He’s got to at least try to convince Howard to stay, after all, the teams prospects going forward have to better now Otis Smith is out the door. And he’s certainly got to meet Howard face-to-face at least a few times, what with Howard’s propensity to change his mind every few days. However now it’s becoming clear Howard will not sign an extension he knows he must make the best trade possible.

The Nets previous trade offer was never good enough; an over-paid rebound-shy Brook Lopez, an unproven MarShon Brooks (who’s ceiling appears to be decidedly less than all-star caliber), a selection of mostly garbage draft picks, and the ability to absorb only one bad contract from the Magic. It seems unlikely the Nets will be able to improve their offer this January.

The Lakers have Bynum but the Magic don’t seem too interested in him, perhaps because of his knees, perhaps because they’ve received indications that he won’t resign with the Magic. Any doubt on those fronts will surely dissuade the Magic from acquiring Bynum. So the Lakers may need help from a third-party (someone to take Bynum and offer good draft-picks) to make a deal work.

If I was in Hennigan’s position I’d consider Houston the best option right now. Their ability to offer a combination of their rookies (Lamb and White), several expiring contracts (K-Mart, Livingston etc), good future draft picks, and their ability to absorb two or three bad Magic contracts makes a trade with them a better long-term option than the Nets.

  132. lets go says:

Oh No….please don’t wake the bear!!! I’m a die hard Heat fan, and I am soooo sick and tired of his Howard to the Heat comments. I was hesitant to even read the article along with the comments because I was afraid he would post that silly comment again.

    • lbj says:

posted. I’m waiting for it :)

      • Rocket33 says:

LBJ, you just keep coming back for more. I almost admire you.

Look, I think there are only a handful of teams who have suitable players to offer and any chance of convincing him to stick around for more than the term of his current lease.

Atlanta – Horford and Teague (plus other pieces from each side). Playing with Smith might be enough to convince him to stay.

Chicago – They need to keep Deng so I’d say Noah and Boozer, possibly Gibson as well and take back Turkoglu.

OKC – Perkins, Harden and Maynor or Perry Jones III.

New York – Stoudemire and Shumpert (plus others from each side again).

Lakers – Bynum (and others again).

Brooklyn (in January) – Lopez if healthy, Humphries and Brooks.

All of the above will most likely need adjusting and probably involve additional teams.

      • Turk (not Hedo, but of the same nationality) says:

        oh god, not again!

      • D Lion says:

You love all this attention, don’t you lbj? You’re probably the most well-known poster on this site! I bet you are just posting this comment repeatedly because you love our reaction. Well, I have to say, now that I know this is a joke,”Congratulations, lbj, you have officially added just enough humor to the endless Dwight Howard misery to make it bearable. Thank you” ;)

  134. Denzo says:

I would make him play with Orlando. Its a contract. He signed it. You dont like it? PAY the PRICE and walk out. Otherwise shut up and play.

Do you even know what a contract is? Its an agreement between 2 parties. Once consideration is given – thats it – face the consequences.

  135. HIT says:

Trade him, get the best pack as possible and move on !! As Enrique says, get the diva out … Start a new plan for the future and re-build this brocken team.

  136. Bob says:

Rob Hennigan has just one option left: Trade that Superidiot a.s.a.p. and take whatever young talents and draftpicks you can get.

This is better than any soap opera ever. Dwight has the whole package for a successful career in LA…drama and even more drama.

Who really thinks that Cuban will get a shot at signing Howard as a FA next summer? This could only happen if Hennigan traded him to a team where Howard does not want to resign…aka Houston.

  137. Jim says:

Will Brooklyn trade brook Lopez for Howard when Brook Lopez is a better offensive player and is younger as well???

Howard keeps struggling at the free throw line along with having difficulty making easy open Jump shots or lay ups.

Yes we know Howard is a good defender but thats it and because hes only good at defense and not offense or even good at both brings down his value.

In The NBA i would compare Dwight Howard to a Ben Wallace, Dennis Rodman, marcus camby, Mutbumbo,

You cant even compare Shaq to Howard because although shaq was not good at free throws, Shaq was dominant in the offensive and defensive end as well. Shaq made those easy jump hooks, lay ups, Dunks.

    • QuestionMark says:

Ummmm you do realize Howard averages about 22 ppg and 13 rpg right? How do you call 22 pts not good offensively? Yes, he isn’t a good FT shooter, but niether was Shaq. And Wallace, Rodman, Camby and Mutumbo, non of them averaged anywhere close to 20 pts, so maybe you should actually start watching Dwight play, then make comparisons.

  138. Daniel says:

Just a scenario to put forward. Challenge Howard to prove that he is all about winning. Offer him the Chicago Bulls, for Noah, Deng, Gibson and a combination of picks, including the Charlotte pick that they hold.

A team of Rose, Hamilton, Butler, Boozer and Howard seems pretty much championship caliber to me. As well as a decent bench (though weaker than last seasons, but still very solid). At the same time, the Bulls would have to take on Turkoglu, giving them a decent 6th man, and might be able to pickup a shooter off the Magic as well.

Let him say no to that, and prove that he is an absolute joke. Between Rose, Boozer and Howard, there are three players that can combine for 60ppg, whilst covering the two most important positions in the league (PG and C).

    • Turk (not Hedo, but of the same nationality) says:

that’s actually a fair idea, but one that the Bulls and Dwight Howard will not consider in my opinion for two reasons:

      1) Derrick Rose (who is in my opinion the second best player currently in the NBA after Kobe, haters gonna hate, I don’t care) is out until March. So Dwight Howard won’t like that.
      2) The Bulls made a LOT of trades this offseason and weakening the bench any further will not help out in a championship run, even with Howard and Rose.

  139. orlando says:

i hope that he ends up going to OKC only because then i could see him and kevin durant getting titles :)
I don’t care how many people hate on Dwight in my eyes he is still by far the best center in the game

It would be awesome to see him join a team that hasn’t won a title in years and help them to get the ring that everyones after

    • QuestionMark says:

They don’t really need Dwight, they already made the Finals and lost, meaning they got the Finals experience and is ready next year to win. Plus if getting Dwight means trading away Westbrook or Harden, no thanks. Westbrook is no deal. If they trade Harden, Ibaka and Perkins, I’ll be fine with it as long as they can replace Harden and Ibaka.

      • wadefan says:

nah.. if he goes to okc.. i would think it’d be with hedo.. for perkins, harden and money.. okc cant keep ibaka and harden when they are up for new contracts.. perkins is just a big body.. and orlando wants to dump hedo’s contract.. i doubt it will happen.. but seeing as okc cant keep both harden and ibaka anyways. trade harden from something good

    • MIAMIWHO says:

Mark my word, Dwight will be a Laker!

  140. Hitler says:

    put Dwight on WNBA. period.

  141. gocharles says:

To hell with Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic. I’m sick of them both!!

  142. NBA IS FIXED says:

He is going to eventually end up in L.A long term.

  143. JG says:

Really Orlando? You thought you could convince him back after scrutinizing all trade options? I mean, really?

Hey don’t worry, just wait until the end of next season, I’m sure he’ll sign with you guys. Even though he has firmly stated he won’t, I’m sure you can fly to L.A. and convince him!

    LOL

    • Dom says:

Haha, Hennigan. What a rookie mistake.

    • sirsparhawk says:

They are idiots, they are just making it worse for themselves. When he leaves as a free agent they wont get jack, their best bet is to get something for him leaving, Id go with bynum, or houston deal.

    • JG says:

Although I would have loved him to go to the Nets, a Lakers/Rockets trade with the Rockets getting Bynum and Orlando getting Houston’s picks (since they are lottery for sure) would have worked best for them… but hey, I’m no GM.

      Heat fan, out.

  144. enrique says:

trade DH already and move on. We are all sick of reading about this day after day.get the Diva out of Orlando

  145. KB24 says:

Really hard to say…..maybe the Lakers could get a deal with the magic or envolving Houston or Cleveland…..

  146. DHAM says:

ROB HENNIGAN PLEASE GET THE HOUSTON DEAL GOING AGAIN!!!. ITS NOT ABOUT D.HOWARD AND HIS BAD BACK. IM NOT EVEN A MAGIC FAN BUT U OWE IT TO THE FANS AND THE MAGIC ORGANIZATION TO MAKE A MOVE WITH SO MANY GOOD YOUNG PIECES INVOLVED, I DONT KNOW WHAT THINK BUT THOSE PIECES ARENT CHUMPS. YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT A 6-8 ALREADY IN THE EAST AND YOU MIGHT DELEVOP FASTER THAN OKC HAS.

    • magicman101 says:

I would have to agree with you 100%. If Rob doesn’t make this deal soon the Orlando fans will want his head on a platter and he will be no better than Otis at this point. All they have done is lose their 2nd best player and about to lose their best player… Not to mention they don’t even have a coach, and have turned down the best candidate in Shaw… I’m really not liking the Magic right now…

    • John says:

Honestly, today’s players talk so much about wanting to win and being ready to do anything to win. REALLY??? Have you all considered talking less and hitting the gym more often during the summer to work on your game????? Perhaps, like working on your free throws!!!! This trend of franchise players moving to a different team to pair up in order to, hopefully, win, is aboslutely BS. This heat’s title isn’t worth the same as MJ’s, Magic’s or Bird’s titles. It’s not so much about winning titles as it is how you win then, or does anyone think that Horry was better than MJ???? My respect goes to ROSE, he’s old school. Works hard and didn’t kiss up to LBJ when the stupid decision on where to take his talents came about

      • Zach says:

The Heat’s title is worth exactly the same. It’s called FREE agency. Players can go where they like. I remember when Al Sharpton referred to the Cavs owner’s malice towards LBJ after the decision and compared the attitude to that of a slave owner, I thought it was a ridiculous notion. But comments like yours make me revisit it. The guy had a contract with the team, then left when it was over. I do hate players demanding to be traded, especially in Howard’s case where he could have left after this offseason, but I have no issue with a guy going elsewhere in free agency. He had a contract with the Magic, it will expire, and then he can do what he wants. He doesn’t owe the city of Orlando anything once that contract ends.

This is business, people, get real.

      • MIAMIWHO says:

@John i agree 1000% The Heats championship is completely meaningless. You cant even put there championship in the same breath as Kobes Jordans and Birds. But hey its a championship, not much of a respectable one, but a championship none the less. Me personally i would rather have a respectable championship as appose to just championship.

      • pakyaw says:

@MIAMIWHO when the Heat didnt win on their 1st year alot of critized(blah, blah, blah),and when they won this year youre saying is MEANINGLESS? come on now!…LBJ decision is a smart move, this is a new era of basketball…basketball EVOLVE,most people in here dont know that meaning coz they live in the past….and please never put Kobe in same category with Jordan,Bird or Magic is just disrespectful, remember when Kobe crying to be traded and they give him Gasol and Phil J again..umm yeah

      • Jokers says:

Really so does that mean that some of MJ’s where meaningless when they went and got Rodman, Longly for example, or Kobe’s when they got Shaq and a heap of players. Or Boston when they went after KG an Allen..? Will be the same this year if LA win it will be pointless cause they went and got Nash…. Have a think about things a little…

      • ... says:

@pakyaw wth who wouldnt have complained about the team kobe had remember Kwame, Smush Parker, Mihm, Turiaf etc. it was a joke. And its absurd to say Kobe isnt on the same level as Jordan, Magic, or Bird.

      • MIAMIWHO says:

You kids on this website are so funny! We are entering a horrible era of basketball when you have people who think Lebron is better than Kobe. There is no more respect for the players who were men and stuck with their teams to win. Not run to another superstars team to chase rings. Kobe Jordan Bird and Magic days are over. You will never have a player like these guys again. Too bad.

      • Koupilias says:

people u got to get your levels straight… 1st level Michael Jordan … Nobody else !!! He is the greatest player ever to play this game. He won 3, retired, went to play some baseball, then he came back and won 3 more… and just remember this … The guy is the TOTAL winner!!! 6 times in NBA finals guess what – he never lost and was the best player all of the times …

So yeah Bird & Magic are 1 step down but still unique players that changed the game … Magic quote “When Michael came into the league this what happened : You had Bird and Me (Magic) taking over games by playing on the ground … But he changes it all , Michael takes over games flying in the air…”

Kobe is a great player but is no way near MJ… Just my opinion…
That doesn’t mean that he WAS the best player in the league for many years…

But the new guys are now better especially Durant and LBJ

      • Chris says:

@John I totally agree. It’s the fact that all three of them planned it out and LBJ & Bosh didn’t sign long term contracts with their former team. LBJ just gave up. He couldn’t win by himself so he jumped ship.

@pakyaw Both Kobe and Paul Pierce were both complaining that year about wanting to be traded during the off season. But once the off season was over, they both shut up-ed and let their game speak for them. That year, the Lakers had a great start even before they got Gasol. Odom was playing like the #2 guy like he was suppose to. Kobe never asked to have certain players traded to LA, except for maybe trying to get Fisher & Odom back.

      • Adam says:

        What Zach said.

Did the Heat win a championship? Yes. it’s a championship…period.

Did every other organization have the same opportunity to make offers to LBJ, Wade and Bosh that the Heat did? Yes, and they couldn’t come up with a more compelling argument. The three players in question had the right to go where they wanted and to sign with whomever they wanted for whatever dollar amount they deemed fair. That’s free agency. You want to be pissed off at someone? Blame the other 29 GMs who couldn’t come up with arguments to split these guys up. They were unrestricted free agents. They could go where they wanted.

Howard, on the other hand, should just shut up. He had his chance, he re-upped, and now he’s miserable. The only reason the Magic should trade him isn’t to make him happy, but to avoid him being a team cancer. Get whatever you can for him now, kill the drama, and move on. Even if he changes his mind and wants to stay, he’s still a head case.

Besides, the guys you listed didn’t do it on their own either. Jordan had Pippen, Magic had Kareem, Bird had McHale and Parish. Championship teams need at least two, ideally three very-good-to-great players on them.

      • Rocket33 says:

I agree with John and those who agree with John. LeBron’s situation was similar to that of Jordan’s when he couldn’t beat the Pistons. But instead of grabbing his friends Barkley and Ewing, Jordan worked harder and his team picked up their game as well.

Jokers, I’m an Aussie but I’m not putting Luc Longley’s name in there with Bosh or James. Also he was brought in via trade (for Stacey King I think). Rodman had worn out his welcome in San Antonio and was traded for as well. As for the Lakers, Kobe wasn’t Kobe when Shaq came over. Boston got KG and Allen via trades as well.

The reason we old school folk don’t value Miami’s championship so highly is because 3 elite superstars positioned themselves to gang up like this. In my opinion and I’m obviously not alone, this has broken the league. Other superstars want to do the same thing now. Look at Melodrama and Dwightmare. All this is doing is leading to a handful of stacked teams and a majority of bottom feeders and those aiming for the bottom to strike lucky in the draft.

With the Superfriends in Miami we have been robbed of what could have been some amazing ECF series between Cleveland and Miami. James and Wade going hard against each other like Magic and Bird used to. Two of the best of friends who wanted nothing more than to beat each other for bragging rights.

Best of luck to OKC next year… a team built in the right way.

      • corleone says:

@MIAMIWHO are u serious. Kobe was bitchin right after the lakers traded shaq. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaPr7DNaNS4 jordan, bird, magic and kobe all played with other superstars so i do not understand why you don’t think miamis title is worth just as much as any other title. and this nba era is not BS this era is great. you have so many great teams now with several superstars. you don’t kno who is gonna win, in the east you have Chi, mia, bk, nyk, bos young teams like phi and ind. in the west you have the 2 teams in LA that are great, okc, SAS, dal
the nba is great now and it is exciting watchin these superstar teams

    • lbj says:

that’s what I keep on telling about. howard will not resign to orlando he wants to get a ring so he will play with the king. “Lebron”. howard will be traded in exchange to haslem, turiaf, anthony and future round picks.

      PG: Wade
      SG: Allen
      SF: James
      PF: Bosh
      Center: Howard

      6th man: Battier
Strong Reserve: Lewis,Chalmers,Cole,Miller and Juwan Howard

      Back to back championship

First of all, I am a big HEAT fan, and I think that the heat acquiring D-wight is farfetched…. VERY… But as for people thinking that the HEAT championship is meaningless thats just rubbish. As for Jordans championship, his partner, Scottie is considered to be one of the best at his position, Kobe had Shaq, at the pinnacle if his career. Bird played with how many future hall of famers.

In my opinion the road to a championship is a hard road no matter who is in your team.

        Centre: Superman

BEST TEAM EVER! Re-peat for 100 years! (If you forward this comment 10,000 times, welcome to Superhero NBA next season!)

      • Chris says:

        You’re stupid.

1st: Howard doesn’t want to get traded to Miami.
2nd: LBJ & Wade might handle the ball, but they would never be the permanent PG. Allen is old and barely getting over injuries. Allen would definitley come off the bench.

I’m definitely interested in the Allen thing. Allen said he signed with Miami because he was frustrated and/or pissed off that he didn’t get his starting position back immediately when he came back to the Celtics. I want to se how he’ll fell coming off the bench.

      • D Lion says:

I believe this is the 8th time you have posted that, lbj. bro that is a major stack if that happens maimi would be most hated team in the NBA!!!!

      • JL says:

good luck with that, considering the Heat have no cap space left. Plus it’s been decided allen is coming off the bench. Right now, if the Lakers can wrap up contract extension talks with Bynum they have the best chance of completing a deal.

      • guy says:

        First of all,

      • c'z says:

hahahahahaha..the funniest part of all this is Wade at the point!!!!! than none of those guys will ever score.

    • Miami Guy says:

I agree with you, and your OKC example. Magic need to trade Howard to get some return, and start to build. You can not keep trying to save the day, you have to think long term. Look at Riley, he planed to get James, and Bosh after 2006 title.

    • LakersftwKB says:

Ok heres the deal, Howard is going to sign with the lakers on a long term deal. He clearly stated he hates the magic organization and he does not want to go back. Magic will finally give in on the trade deal with the lakers and L.A and Miami will be favorites to play for the title. Dwight wants to go to the lakers. The lakers want dwight. Its that simple but the magic are just making it difficult smh… there whole organization is skrewd up and hopefully they can figure out what they are doing before the season starts or they will get absolutley nothing in return for howard. Cmon Orlando figure it out!!!!!

    • Slider821 says:

      Rob Hennigan is an idiot.

      Dwight Howard is a primadonna.

Fans hate this part of the NBA.

      Report: Nothing has changed.

      • Philly says:

        Bit rough on Hennigan man.
The guy has to deal with the Dwightmare, hire a new coach & clean up Hurricane Otis’ many many contractual mistakes.
I think he’s taking his time because he has too. We aren’t going to accept peanuts for the biggest chip on the table.
The posturing is solely a power play to ensure he has what he needs to build for a future.
        Relax guy.

    • reprezentedmami says:

Rob Hennigan is an idiot. Wasting time trying to salvage a marriage that is irreconcilable. Dwight Howard wants to divorce the Orlando Magic and he’s made it clear several times that he wants to skip town. All this wishful thinking, and prolonged efforts are useless. It’s become annoying and ridiculous that Hennigan refuses to cut the umbilical cord. Dragging out the inevitable only makes the situation more worse. A real GM would not put all his eggs in one basket. Howard is not going to save that franchise even if he stayed. This is the perfect opportunity to trade him for some valuable pieces and look toward building for the future. This is the perfect time to start over with a new coach and a new system, but instead Hennigan has “Dwight Vision” which is sad and pathetic to the business of basketball.

      • Bryan says:

um, have you ever thought that Hennigan would love to do just that, ship Howard off and let the circus end, so he can start rebuilding his team? Has it ever crossed your mind that Martins, and the entire Devos family have the final say? Has it ever crossed your pathetic little brain that he presented the Nets, Lakers, and even the Houston trade to the holy Devos family and they in turn said “No, i have faith that Howard will still resign, you need to fly out to California and give him a presentation!” Hennigan does not strike me as an idiot, and maybe, just maybe he is walking around thinking “What the hell is wrong with these Devos people and why won’t they let me do my job and what is necessary???” Lay off Rob. And as far as everybody pissed at the Anderson trade, the guy is going to flop without Howard and Rob knows this. After last year teams are going to pay big bucks for Anderson, too much money than what he is worth, and Rob wants to shed big contracts, i thought it was a good move in the overall scheme of things, Lay off his back just a bit. Like somebody else stated, he jumped into this job and had to immediatly have to start dealing with the clean up of hurricane Otis and all the horrible contracts, and plus the biggest story in NBA history. I am going to wait about a year and a half before i judge him so harshly, give the guy a fair shake at thiings, i think he might suprise us
