MVP Ladder: Tony Parker Rising!

HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS – No theme music is needed for Tony Parker‘s long overdue move up the KIA Rae to the MVP Ladder this week.

Parker has been the catalyst this season for a Spurs team that ranks as one of the league’s best, despite Manu Ginobili‘s injury issues and Tim Duncan‘s fade into a supporting role.

Parker’s rise (to the sixth spot from No. 10) is the biggest jump of any player on the list this week, but not the most dramatic move. Reigning MVP Derrick Rose fell out of the rankings completely and Kevin Durant slipped past LeBron James for the top spot this week (Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade also made moves up).

Click here for a closer look at this week’s order and share your thoughts (below), as well. And remember, this is a fluid list. You can play your way on or you can play your way off, but nothing is guaranteed.

  3. kendell says:

lbj complete stat but #2 seed with wade & bosh but not the scoring leader ouch.

  4. v says:

you cant have two guys on the same team in the mvp race …. the question is” where would the ________ be without __________”…. without lebron the heat would be in about the same place (eastern conference blows), without durant the thunder would probably be a few spots lower, without kevin love the timberwolves would be exactly where the bobcats are, but without kobe bryant so would the lakers ….

    KOBE FOR MVP

  5. Im a Kobe fan but I really think that Lebron earns it than any body else he could play pg if you asked him he could play sg, sf, pf, and even center if he wanted to Lebron is a MVP player and Kobe is a winner
Kobe for the ring and Lebron for MVP

  6. pitBULL says:

Every One in the list deserved to be MVP…..how cud u Rate a player to be an MVP?…basketball is a TEAM GAme…!!!.LB,KOBE,KD cannot won any single without any help of other player…

  7. parker is old. OKC and LAL are way better off

  8. Tonyp4mvp says:

So Wade gets no love, the guy who consistently saves Miami when Lbj consistently flops in the 4th quarter. The real Leader of the Heat. & Tony Parker is the mvp this season he has his spurs playing at a level nobody expected, we all knew the Heat were gonna be nice, look at there killer line up including 3 superstars, & they still aint number 1 in the east smh.

  9. Bustillos33 says:

Heat vs okc who wins okc for me bet kd gets thirty points tonight

  10. john says:

I agree for the writer this week…KD is on the top due to the contribution percentage on the game.im LBJ big fan but this week he did not contribute very well on the team……………hopefully the king will return on the the top……but in over all he is the best player when it come to stat……..goodluck heat

  11. Mr.D says:

Kevin Love is NOT no.7… A consistent double-double machine, reviving a long dead pack of wolves (of course with Roobio and rising C Pekovic) He took the team into playoff talks that nobody really thought just hoped and cheered for! And jokes like Kobe at no. 3?? (no disrespect, but he is not an MVP candidate this year) Sure with a “losing” team no MVP for him, but Kevin Love deserves a higher spot for this year, Next year Twolves will stalk the league!!! Go Love!

  12. Georgio says:

This is absolutely ridiculous this KIA MVP Rankings. This whole media system is screwing up the award completely. How can you suddenly put Kevin Durant in front of LeBron because he played better in the most recent couple of games, when LeBron has been an absolute domination this whole season. Get it right Sekou man fix it up. Give LeBron the credit he deserves.

  13. kendell says:

SO WHO DO U GUYS THINK WILL BE IN THE FINALS

  14. Bustillos33 says:

I know dat but kd is awesome and who doesn’t have 51 one points in a game this season

  15. Bustillos33 says:

No doubt I’d all day every Day is a MVP

  16. RISING SUN says:

LBJ is the MVP!! look at the stats COMPLETE BASKETBALL PLAYER

    • kendell says:

lbj for mvp look at the stats blah blah the mvp should be the scoring leader and the top seed in the conference or overall.so were is lbj at 2.excuse me #2

  17. kendell says:

COME ON GUYS YES LEBRON IS PLAYING GOOD BUT HE HAD THE TOP SEED FOR TWO YEARS AND WON MVP BOTH YEARS WITH HIS EX CLEVELAND SQUAD NOW HE’S IN MIAMI WITH A BETTER SQUAD AND CAN’T EVEN BE THE SCORING CHAMPION AND THE TOP SEED IN THE EAST OR OVERALL.NO MVP FOR LBJ

  18. kendell says:

ITS KD FOR MVP NOTHING ELSE

  19. tony has had a great season and has been a pivotal part to the rebirth of the ageless spurs so to speak..he deserves to be in the mvp argument, but there r others that deserve it more..he is a top ten pg tho http://www.mindofmattman.com/2012/03/best-pg-in-nba-2012-year-of-pg-cont.html

  20. Mr. Excitement says:

They robbed Lebron last year for the MVP.They gonna do it again.Stop robbing LBJ. LBJ for MVP!

    • kendell says:

no mvp for lebron.if he get the mvp its probably favourtism..just look at the stats and where his team at.but looking past kd and give the mvp to lbj who already won two mvp with cleveland two years straight and within those two years his ex team wasthe top seed.so why not give it to kd who took okc from below the map to the top.

  21. Ben says:

I don’t get it, why KD on the leader list, LBJ play better then KD,you can’t judge player by one or two games he scored lowed points.I believe LeBron deserve mvp this season,he is the best player this season. He show us what he can do as player.I love KD,but I think LBJ deserve it more.

    • kendell says:

NO MR BEN KD FOR MVP NOT BECAUSE I LIKE HIM LOOK WHERE LEBRON COME FROM TO WHERE HE IS AND LOOK WHERE KD CAME FROM TO WHERE HE IS.KD WAS AT THE BOTTOM WITH OKC TO THE BEST TEAM IN THE WEST.WHILE LEBRON JAMES TOP SEED WITH CLEVELAND NOW IN MIAMI AND CANT TAKE HIS TEAM TO BECOME TOP SEED NOT ONLY IN THE EAST BUT OVERALL.LEBRON DID’NT PLAY HIS BEST BASKETBALL SEASON THIS YEAR . I THINK IN CLEVELAND.BUT I’LL ADMIT NO REGULAR SEASON MVP FOR LBJ.BUT AM FOR SURE LBJ GONNA WIN FINALS MVP AND THEY GONNA WIN 4-2 WHOEVER THEY PLAY IN THE FINALS

  22. kendell says:

hey lebron already won back to back mvps.look at what kd did he took one of the worst team in the nba to one of the best team in the league.yea he got russel but lbj got wade and bosh and they are second in the east.also look at the stat kd is second in scoring and russel is fifth.lbj is third so how lebron could even be mention as mvp when he’s not even first in scoring and his team not even first in the east.

  23. Jonathan says:

Wait, and Kobe moved up the board after his 3-20 and 10-27 performances where he clearly shot the Lakers out of both games? First they lost to Utah even though Bynum and Gasol were beasting (20-26 combined for 51 points and 21 boards), and then they blew it against Houston when Kobe went shot-happy after Sessions had total control of the game. Of course, they did manage to beat the Timberwolves and Mavericks. Note that all four teams the Lakers played last week were missing key starters, and yet the Lakers still only went 2-2. There’s an argument for Kobe being Least Valuable Player in the NBA last week.

  24. WHAT ??? says:

yeah .. sekou smith .. ? Durant loss 2 games last week , Against the rockets and the spurs . ??? ??

I’M A BIG FAN OF KEVIN DURANT BUT IN THIS WEEK I COULD’NT IMAGINE WHY HE TAKES OVER THE # 1 SPOT ..

    overrated this .. .
    LBJ FOR MVP

  25. In it to win it says:

Dropping Rose from 5 – 11 due to injury, thats ridiculous

  26. pacersfan21 says:

it is ridiculous to say that Lebron James is not the MVP. he has been the best player all season on the team with the second best record behind (no idea how it is happening) Chicago. His playmaking goes so underrated and this season has been his most efficient ever. with a PER of almost 32 (which is better than some of Jordan’s best) to say that he is not the MVP is a farce.

  27. Samtotheg says:

Lebron is the MVP, you have to judge the season on a whole, and Lebrons body of work is much more impressive than Durants, and kobe should not be in the rankings AT ALL, the guy is just shooting shooting shooting and hes not even doing that well, his team got an upgrade at point gaurd and the two bigs have been consistent all year, if anything kobe has shot his team out of several games, like against 76ers he had a 1 for 10 4th quarter and their lead went away , against the wiz and the pistons ,against the rockets just thee other night, he also had that 3 for 20 game , hes had a lot more negative impact than positive , and now becuase he shot over 50 percent for a game , he gets 3rd in the mvp race ,ha ,this sekou guy doesnt know jack .

  28. Tim says:

There is no argument for Durant over Lebron at this time. All he does better is hot free throws. The media trying to make KD the MVP is a joke.

  29. Fr3D says:

When mentionning Tony Parker, you have to look at the consistency, he’s been doing this for years and years, guys like Westbrook, Rose and others are younger and play much more off athleticism, we’ll see if they can still get it done when they’re 29. And let’s see if they get a couple NBA championships including a finals MVP in the process.

  30. bdub says:

interesting how Josh Smith is #15 on the list and somehow did not make it on the all-star team. Worst snub ever!

  31. asd says:

I hope the NBA will not get rigged again. Last year Rose was overrated and now they are trying to make KD MVP.

    • MOMS says:

They will give the MVP trophy to KD for sure even though JAMES deserves it more than anybody in the NBA
But hopefully he will win the finale mvp. GO KING JAMES GO

  32. TM says:

So Westbrook is more important to the Thunder than Rose is to the Bulls? Even with Durant on top of the ladder?

  33. steve says:

I still don’t understand how you can have guys so hi on the MVP race when you have a teammate up there too.I look at it as if he’s not that valuable as one that is on a team that only has one MVP candidate.Dwane Wade and Lebron James, Kevin Durant and Russel Westbrook wouldn’t you look at it like it’s a co MVP deal with these guys because one makes the other better and vice versa. That is not fair because that just gives them an advantage.

  34. Arky says:

Moving Durant ahead of LeBron on the basis of the last couple of games is ludicrous. I guess it will get people talking. OKC is what, 4-4 in the last 8 games, and Durant’s had a couple of good ones and a couple of average ones in that time. LBJ had one down game against Orlando for 14-12-7 with 5 steals in a double digit win- OMG! That’s terrible!

  35. asd says:

Oh no! How is Durant 1st if he lost 2 games last week?

  36. prix says:

    Kinda slow but luckily he got recognize..I´m sure he will finish 8th or 9th…Lebron will win it againts Durant..Rose 4th…Kobe 7th…KG 99th…Paul 11th…Lin 21st…Nash 10th…Love 15th..Gasol 57th…
