Trail Blazers Send Camby To Houston

HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS – Veteran center Marcus Camby is on the move again, this time to Houston that continues the Portland Trail Blazers’ roster trade deadline roster makeover. The deal was first reported by Yahoo! Sports.

The Trail Blazers will receive Hasheem Thabeet and point guard Jonny Flynn from the Rockets. Portland will take a totally new team on the floor after this afternoon’s trade deadline, including Mehmet Okur and Shawne Williams from an earlier deal with New Jersey.

The Trail Blazers are also in discussions with several teams about moving veteran guard Jamal Crawford as well.

Blazers had to trade whomever they could not named Aldridge (star player) or Batum (underpaid talent). The front office here in Portland worked tirelessly to call all 29 other NBA teams. “Hey guys, OK, here’s the deal. You want Felton?” – “NO.” – “Aight, how ’bout Matthews?” – “NO. We’re hanging up now Chad.” – “Wait, just gimme a sec now guys. Here, what about Jamal Crawford?” – “Hmmmm, 2nd round, 2013.” – “Really, uhhhhhhh…” – ” Chad, we gotta let you go buddy, call us if can think of anything else allright buddy?” – “Great, appreciate it, thanks for your time today, thank you.”

    is jonny flyn good?\

    Great trade for the Blazer.

Thabeet is alot like Perzebella. He’s not an offensive center, but he is a rebounding machine based on his 48 minute performance. If Perzybella can mentor Hasheem he can potentially be a more productive center. Ben Wallace was a Center for Detroit and his main skill was rebounding and defense so I think he’s got valuable skills.

  5. MG says:

Sorry Portland, but if you think Hasheem Thabeet is a good pick up, you are crazy. We hoped for the same thing in Houston, but it didn’t take long to see that he just can’t play. Jonny Flynn showed flashes of being a decent player but will never be more than a rotation guy at best. Our GM has had his eyes on Camby for the past couple of years, but he’s only got a couple of years left at best. This trade is a wash, probably a contract thing.

This is one of the worst written articles I have ever read…And to think, it’s not even from a no-name random blog…This is NBA.com!!!! The sentences literally do not even make sense, with key words just blatantly left out, and some words thrown in there in over abundance therefor making the first sentence non-sensical. WOW! Maybe NBA.com should look at who is writing these things, or hire an editor!

    • Aristotle says:

jonny, judge not lest ye be judged. Your second to the last sentence is not only a run on – it is barely understandable. It also has “some words thrown in there in over abundance”. Don’t waist your time with that novel, screenplay or whatever; stick to being a gaffer.

  7. DP says:

So sorry to see Marcus go. He has been a rock for our team. Sorry to see you go Marcus. Thank you for your time with us. DP

Horrendous grammar Sekou. C’mon man NBA.com should have higher standards than this.

“The Trail Blazers will Hasheem Thabeet and point guard Jonny Flynn from the Rockets”

“The Trail Blazers are also in discussions with several teams about moving veteran guard Jamal Crawford as well.” = Redundant

“Veteran center Marcus Camby is on the move again, this time to Houston to join the Houston that continues the Portland Trail Blazers’ roster trade deadline roster makeover.” Huh?

I hate the Wallace deal, I mean I understand that it will probably be a lottery pick from the Nets, but I actually like this Camby deal. A young BIG man, will really help also Johnny Flynn can be a solid point guard I think. I hope we trade J crawford and Felton for some nice picks or young talent and restart rebuilding.

Can we hire Pritchard back or Fire Allen?

  10. ottomatic says:

i dont care who we trade as long as batum is still a blazer

  11. tony12314 says:

obviously these trades aren’t meant for this year. Looks like they’re getting an early start for next season lol. Gotta blow some spots up and remove a few. As long as we have Batum and Aldridge i’m fine.

    • dd def says:

true dat, i was initially devestated by the wallace trade, but now i see what they’re doing and it’s all good. more time (and space/dollars) for batum williams babbit and noland. it’d have been nice to keep camby and wallace but i’d rather have LA and batum, and those 4 are really our only considerable trade leverage.
but we need to remember: BE SMART WITH DRAFT PICKS!!!

  12. nba.insider4482 says:

Portland gets what will probably be between the 4th and 7th pick of the first round as well from new jersey.

  13. Baller101 says:

Interesting, though the last bit about Crawford was based on the Lakers don’t see this happening right now

  14. noface says:

    why!

  15. boombooroomboomboom says:

    blazers are breaking their team

  16. PDX Wolfeman says:

What are the Trial Blazers thinking! Hasheem Mehmet Okur! Really. I know they also got rid of Gerald Wallace. he was a good glue guy but his deal is expiring at the end of the year. This year is just going to go from bad to worst! I see that they have some pieces for 2012-13. Who will they go after for free agents this summer?

  17. MyBloodIsSilverAndBlack says:

LOL the Blazers are imploding. Again.

On another note, why doesn’t Camby stick with one team?

    • dd def says:

camby didn’t trade himself. he got traded you silly. that’s like asking why a pair of shoes for sale on craigslist don’t just stick with one pair of feet.

  18. Jack says:

It’s clear the Blazers are on the rebuilding track now, but these trades (this and the Wallace trade) get them little to nothing… and they haven’t actually moved anyone that’s hot on the block and rumors: Crawford, Felton to be exact. What. the. bleep.

  19. Jeremy says:

Portland is plummeting, McMillian probably will not survive this,; Batuum will get to start since Wallace is gone. He is one heck of a player.

  20. Mish says:

    Poor Trailblazers!.. But Why????

  21. charles says:

Great Trade. Clearly the trailblazers are not going anywhere this year. Even if they do, it will be a first round loss. It is better to have Hasheem Thabeet who has long-term potential and has never really played significant minutes to prove himself than Camby who is better off helping houston keep the 8th spot and continue to help their youth grow.
