HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS — You’re supposed to respect your elders.
And no one has more respect for Pacers president and Hall of Famer Larry Bird. But his choice of Kobe Bryant for the player he’d like to play one season with if he could, doesn’t jive with the KIA Race to the MVP Ladder.
We’ve got LeBron James, Kevin Durant and then Bryant in a 1-2-3 finish this week. Sure, James and Durant are five championship rings behind Bryant right now. But if we’re talking about the here and now, the youngsters are currently ruling the day.
That Bryant remains in this realm is a testament to not only his game but his ability to persevere while some of his peers that came into the league around the same time (Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan come to mind) clearly look their age.
Speaking of the old heads, we had another one join the party this week. Check out the list to see who fits where. And remember, this is a fluid list. You can play your way on or you can play your way off, but nothing is guaranteed.
