Four Teams Pursuing Warriors’ Williams

The Bobcats, Raptors, Trail Blazers and Rockets are the four teams in hottest pursuit of unrestricted free agent swingman Reggie Williams, according to a league source. Williams became unrestricted over the weekend when his former team, the Warriors, rescinded its qualifying offer to him in order to clear room for a four-year, $43 million offer sheet Golden State made to Clippers center DeAndre Jordan. The Clippers matched the sheet on Jordan Monday.

The 25-year-old Williams is one of the better shooters still available in free agency. He made 42 percent of his three-pointers at Golden State last season, averaging 9.2 points, mainly off the bench, for the Warriors. The two-time NCAA scoring champ from VMI burst onto the NBA scene out of the Developmental League in 2010, averaging 15 points in 24 games for the Warriors after being called up. He worked out for the Bobcats in Charlotte on Sunday.

The Blazers are also interested in free agent guard Jamal Crawford, who is being pursued by the Pacers, Knicks and Timberwolves.

Reggie should sign with the Bobcats : Charlotte absolutely needs a sharp-shooter who can score… and Reggie needs to develop his play / confidence and show how good he is
Can you imagine the trio Augustin – Magette (when not injured) – Williams ? + 2 solid rookies and Boris Diaw who could supply at 3 and 4… Just need a good center (Dalembert ? Biedrins ?) and some bench … Could make another playoff apparition next season, why not ?

  2. Andrew says:

Reggie parted ways because the Warriors only gave him junk time. He needs to do what is best for him. The Warriors didn’t give him a go. He would make one mistake and sit on the bench the entire game. Radmanovic would make 5 mistakes and still keep playing. Klay Thompson will replace Reggie. Runs off screens a little like Reggie Miller…. Guess who is coaching!! A man that played with Reggie miller.

  3. Javier says:

The Warriors are idiots, plain and simple. They consistently have the WORST EXECUTIVE STAFF IN THE LEAGUE, BAR NONE. It’s always the same, bad moves, cutting loose good players with tons of potential: Stephen Jackson, Jason Richardson, Baron Davis, Arenas, Antawn Jamison…the list is endless.
All the players listed above, not to mention Erick Dampier..
The Warriors should have been in minimum 2 Championships with all the talent they’ve let go over the last 10 years.
And they wouldn’t have to be signing has been’s like Kwame Brown…and paying him that kind of money for under performing wherever he goes.

Way to go Warriors. Who needs 42% 3pt shooting when you have an ALL-STAR and future Hall of Fame ICON Kwame Brown..

    • Megan says:

i agree kwame is one of the best

    • jenn says:

That’s sarcasm about Kwame, right? I don’t mind that the Warriors signed him because it is only for a year. They need a big man. Since they need a big and they struck out with the other two attempts; who else would you suggest they sign? Nene, did you see what he signed with the Nuggets today? Ridiculous! See what’s in free agency next year…. BTW, Warriors parted with Reggie due to his lack of defense and his streakiness. I do like Reggie and I wish him the best of luck.

  5. Javier Rubio says:

He has just came from Spain, from Caja Laboral. He did not play, he was injured. This player is a fake, i cant understand with all the players and rumors that he is taking a headline in the nba.com web

    • jenn says:

Really? He rarely got injured with Golden State. Maybe because he did not have a training camp. Players are more likely to get hurt if they do not condition themselves first. You should see the results in American Football due to the strike. Lots of injurys. I have watched Reggie since he came to the Warriors. Reggie is a solid player offensively who will give a tream his 100%. When the guy is hot, he can bomb threes. Yes, he can be streaky, However, he is good bench player to have on your team.

    • Ballin' D says:

Hey Javier Rubio. The coach with Caja Laboral was a moron. He scores an NBA player for $1.5 m and doesn’t give him playing time. Boring Spanish basketball! The only thing “FAKE’ was BASKONIA’S ABILITY TO MANAGE A GREAT PLAYER. Glad he’s home!

  6. John says:

Reggie is a killer 3pointer shooter, too bad warriors couldnt sign him. He will spark any teams bench.

  7. Chance says:

If the Miami Heat or the NY Knicks are smart they’d go after Virginia’s own Reggie Williams..this man can play the 2 or the 3 and can shoot the lights out!!! Lefty too!!!
