HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS — Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar Odom showed up late, joining Pau Gasol at the first day of Lakers’ training camp.

Both were casualties of Thursday night’s nixed three-team deal for Chris Paul. Odom indicated last night that he was not sure if he would report with his teammates today. He didn’t initially and did not actually practice.

Ramona Shelburne of ESPNLosAngeles.com just tweeted that Lamar Odom rolled into the parking lot at the Lakers’ practice facility 90 minutes late, but he did show up for the first day of camp.

Odom reportedly showed up to speak with Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak but did not participate and left shortly after that meeting.

  1. daniel says:

i dont like this,… lamar odom is the spark for our bench, without him idk know where we be in the standings

  2. Lakers R Us says:

Just wanna see basketball again! And Kobe! Whether they get Paul or not! And Gary made a good comment! Thx for that Gary! would love to see Kobe, Paul, and Howard; play in the finals against the Heat big 3! Now that would be amazing!

  3. Lakers R Us says:

I don’t like the Lakers giving up Odom and Gasol both! The only way this is a good trade for them is if they acquire Howard from Orlando! Otherwise they’re giving up, not only size, but two outstanding ballplayers! Even though Paul is, arguably the best point guard in the NBA. You don’t give up that much size. Especially from two players of this calibre! Stern says that New Orleans needs to get MORE!!!!! LOL!!! What does he want? Half the Laker team; and all their draft picks! LMAO!!!!!

  4. Toxic says:

javi dueñas,,the posts are only talking about Lamar Odon ’cause for the US people Pau Gasol is only a foreigner, a spaniard, a player from Europe that is playing almost as a guest in NBA,,,and forget that Pau Gasol maybe is the most talented player that played for Lakers since Magic Johnson, i wish the next olympics games Spain beats the US muscle-team,,the game needs more talent and skill than muscle…

  5. Kevin i says:

Did Lakers ever mentioned that they are including kardashians with a deal. i think this would be the missing piece.

  6. javi dueñas says:

Por lo que veo en los posts sólo se habla de Lamar Odom, pero hasta que no llegó Pau Gasol a LA ni finales, ni campeonatos. Gasol hace mejores a sus compañeros.

  7. Jason Sample says:

No one complained when Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Gary Payton, and Shaq were all on the same team. If anything, that is probably the greatest wealth of talent put together on one team.

  9. Stan says:

Who is going to guard Dirk with no Odom or Gasol?

    • Gary says:

That’s not a question they need to worry about. Other teams would be worried about how to contain Paul and stop Bryant. If Howard comes on board (which he will) then it will be the ultimate triple threat. Would love to see if even though I’m a Miami fan.

  10. Stan says:

Bynum, Gasol, Odom, Peace are the best frontcourt in the League……….

  11. Stan says:

the only advantage the Lakers have is their great frontcourt and now they want to trade that away for a point guard makes no sense. The size of the Lakers is why they win so many championships. Don’t trade your great frontcourt for a ponit guard that are a dime a dozen.

  12. Eskimo33 says:

I understand everyone being pissed off I think it was dumb for the league to Veto this trade, everyone now knows who was involved and disrespected the players, being lakers fan I actually didn’t like the trade, but still think the league shutting it down for “basketball reasons” was dumb, saying that shipping there star would effect that, we all saw what the hornets would have got them made away like bandits, Kevin Martin, Scola, Odom, and 2 draft picks, and if they keep him they get nothing bc he will walk at free agentcy, bad on the league.

  13. Allan says:

If Lamar gets traded, Khloe will divorce him.

  14. Marcel R says:

What the hell is Lamar Odom crying about? Last time I checked didn’t make his first playoff appearance when he was traded to Miami and win 2 NBA Finals win he was traded to L.A. Go cry me a river dude seriously

  15. Mystery Clu? says:

Incredibly disappointing that this happened. I feel horrible for Lamar but at the same time it is a business. On the other hand though, he has been traded before….But then again on the other, other hand LA has become his home & his family.

Now he has to stay with LA after all of this,,..smh. Will he play with 10% focus & deliberately not play well on defense, or will he play with a watermelon smile & suck it up. The drama is building like a bad soap opera on NBC.

  16. chosen one says:

As much as I dislike Odom and Gasol, I do feel terrible for them.
The only good I could’ve seen coming from this deal would have been getting Odom\s reality show cancelled.

  17. chris says:

wrong! Odom just showed up at the Lakers facility.

  18. 6nba5 says:

and i can clearly see that baseit rasheed is a tab bit slow, the difference between bosh and lebron they were free agents chris paul isnt, ths was a trade, not players who are free to do what they please and go to what ever team they want

  19. 6nba5 says:

yo know what i can almost feel for lamar, i mean its a business and all, but how do u expect me to come to camp and put my best foot foward when i was traded last night, how do i continue to put my heart into the team who was willing to drop me like a bad habit, but at the same time, you been traded b4, u should expect the unexpected. ur still getting paid and ur still playing ball. His problem was he was on a sure fire winning team and all he had to do was be the 6th man, but just suck it up realize its just the nature of the business, laugh at the team and show them why u deserve to be there for the long haul. so wipe them tears because we heard u crying in that interview, lol dam shame, and get to playing ball

  20. what now? says:

    Lakers should trade with Jazz
Trade Odom for Devin Harris and Kanter!

    • LakersWillWin says:

You are out of your mind.
Odom is a hell of a lot more valueable than that.
People look at him because of his reality show and wife and lose respect for him as a person. Well, the person is not always what matters it’s his game.
LO is such an awesome dude I’ve had the chance to hang out with him a few times, but his game is just unreal. I really hope the Lakers get in touch with him and apologize or something. He is so valueable to the Laker organization.

    • Gary says:

Oh yeah that will help them get another chamionship…

  21. basit rasheed says:

its unfair that lakers cant get chris paul the nba allowed chris bosh and lebron james to go to heat why not chris paul to lakers!

    • LakersWillWin says:

      All about money.
New Orleans is owned by the NBA, and it is my belief that they are trying to sell 10K season tickets and trading away their star will make sure that does not happen.
Correct me if I am wrong.

      • RK says:

Yeah, but they already sold the 10K. Plus, they’re new roster would be a legitimate playoff team in the Western Conf. Everyone got screwed by this.

    • David says:

We Heat fans need protection. All the other team have 1 or 2 stars, and we have three, and it will stay that way.

    • RealTalk says:

chris bosh and lebron were free agents!!!!!!!they could go where they choose

    • mike jones says:

      they were free agents duh!
