Marion, Mavs Hungry For The Finals

DALLAS – Shawn Marion doesn’t need any help getting amped up for The Finals. It is, after all, his first trip to the NBA’s big show after getting as close as the Western Conference finals previously.

Just don’t talk to him about LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh or the rest of the Miami Heat. Because he’s not interested in waxing poetic about the Dallas Mavericks’ opponent. Instead, he’s focused solely on the Mavericks and their journey to the final days of this season.

“It’s not really about them or anything they are doing,” Marion said after fielding repeated questions about the Heat after practice Friday at American Airlines Center. “It’s about the Dallas Mavericks right now and what we’re going to play for and what we’re about to do.”

When asked if the Heat might be the model for the new NBA, where players get together and form their own firms on certain teams to restructure the league, Marion made clear that his concerns right now are not necessarily with the sea changes going on around the league.

“I don’t know which way it’s going,” he said. “Right now we’re going to the NBA Finals. I can’t speak on the whole league. We’re in the NBA Finals right now and that’s what we need to be talking about. We’re about to go to [it]. We start Tuesday. Y’all start Tuesday. We all start Tuesday. So get y’all’s [expletives] there. I don’t know what time, but Tuesday we start The Finals.”

Despite being the likely underdog for the third time, out of four, in this postseason, the Mavericks’ colorful swingman is decidedly upbeat about where his team stands going into the series.

“They’re a very athletic team now, but we’re very crafty and we have some athleticism over here, too,” Marion said. “At the same time, that’s not always going to be enough. We’ve got some things to guard against. But  we’re poised, we’re hungry and I’m ready to eat,” Marion said. “My stomach is three-fourths full and I need four more wins to fill that [expletive] up.”

Like we said, there are no artificial energy boosters needed for the Matrix.

I hate Dallas Mavs. But their individual players, are much more deserving of rings than Lebron and the heat. Disagree with me all you want, but im sticking to it.

Jason Kidd- one of the greatest pure point guards and perhaps THE best all around point guard next to Oscar…Deserves a ring.

Dirk especially…doing all that he has done for the mavs franchise but has no ring to show for it.

    • DK says:

John Stockton was better than Kidd.

      • Paschal says:

So why do you hate them?

      • Gibbs says:

I hate Mavz but hate Lebron and the Heat more. Had respect for Bron at the Cavs but he is a sellout!

Mavs should win, they have the depth. Miami’s rotation is so disgaceful and unsportsman like. J Howard has barely seen a minute, Big Z has seen nothing. These guys are good players that have had their confidence pulled out from under them. I would never be on that roster even if it meant the team would win a ring.

GOD i hate everything about the Heat. Shaq and Wade era on the other hand was good to watch.

      • albert_consulta says:

Maybe, but Stockton was a dirty player and a bigot. Sorry, but I have no respect for him.

      • Mark R says:

This series is going to create a great story whatever the outcome. Either Dirk and Jason Kidd get the rings their glittering careers deserve, or LeBron James gets the first Championship in what will be the start of his name entering the conversation as one of the greatest players of all time. Its going to be a fantastic Finals, which will be a lot closer than many people think. Miami has the edge on paper, but Dallas may just surprise on the hardwood…

      • media head says:

and magic was better than any of them… by far, oh and i would take isaiah thomas over stockton and kidd all day too.

    • HeatWave says:

Unless your David Stern you have no say in who deserves a ring.

    • Navel says:

“their individual players, are much more deserving of rings than Lebron and the heat.”

You mean if Heat become the champs, they don’t deserve the ring?

The only ones deserving the ring are the champions. Skills, hard work and patience are common to all impressive players but whether they deserve the ring or not does not depend on those traits alone. You have to defeat your oponent, you have got to be the champion to deserve it.

      • G W says:

very true, it is not us (the fans) place to judge. we arent the ones who experience it. we are just relatively unathletic people who worship for better or worse our physical superiors. and trash them just as readily when they dont live up to our ridiculous moral standards. standards we seem to only hold for all those who have been gifted beyond what we have been in areas we wish we had mastered but never will.
I hate to wax deep in a column about the NBA but…
I take that back. I love waxing deep
honestly, people who trash lebron and the Heat need to seriously ask themselves, if put in Lebron”s situation, and having the near limitless power of choice he has (which we give him by the way by our mindless athlete worship, viewing them as better than the rest of us and therefore expected to live by a higher moral standard, when, in reality they are better only physically and in a certain skill set, This having probably been acquired to an extent by their own effort as well as natural and or God given ability.) anyway, the question is, if you where Lebron, if you where as talented as he and wanted an NBA title more than anything in the world, would you have stayed in Cleveland? really, would you? if yes consider yourself a littlle, scratch that, a lot more noble and loyal than the general population of humanity. but not better than Lebron cuz you probably arent morally. and God knows hes better than you at basketball. and for you atheists out there, who probably worship basketball players (or some other imperfect public figure)without wanting to admit it, Lebron knows hes better than you at basketball to.
point of this ridiculously long shpiel:
stop expecting athletes to be Gods, stop expecting them to be role models. they are talented people who play a fun to watch sport. just sit back and enjoy them dunk on each other whilst probably thinking, if not uttering loudly while grabbing their groin, words you most likely dont want your children to here . admit it, them being bad is at least half the fun anyway.

    • Kobleed says:

All of them worked hard to get in the finals.n All of them deserve to win and get a ring. Its just may the best team wins.

    • QuestionMark says:

Agreed, Dirk in the Playoffs this season is showing how determined and focused he is to winning a title, he deserves it. Many of you may disagree, but Lebron deserves it too, he has been scoring non-stop in the 4th and he is showing how clutch he can be, not just Lebron, but Wade and Bosh are also playing well, I would still point my head towards the Mavs to win it, Dirk still deserves it much more than Lebron, and I don’t think Kidd wants to be the next all-time great without a ring, niether does Dirk.

    • mabuhay says:

I agree with you, hope this is MAVS time to get a ring. Not sure though why you hated Dallas Mavs?

  2. Danger says:

I’m a Celtics fan so I’m hoping the Mavs win this series as the Heat knocked out the boys in green. Plus any team that clean sweeps the Lakers is ok by me! Dallas is an exciting team with a lot of depth and experience. They’ve worked hard and deserve their success. Good luck Dallas!

    • Mr. eleven says:

LOL ALL BOSTON AND BULLS FAN ARE NOW ROOTING ON DALLAS TEAM, SUCH A LOOSER…
GO HEAT BURN THE MAVERICKS :D

    • Johnny says:

Your a Celtics fan yet don’t want the team that beat you to win? Not only does it make you look like a bad sport but it also downgrades your team’s viability as a contender even more as the lost to the Heat only for the Heat to lose to someone else. It makes the Celtics look even worse and shows they would have had that much less of a chance of winning this year.

    • Sore looser! It is all about the new generation in Miami (Lebron, D-Wade, Bosh, Haslem, Anthony, Miller, Bibby and Chalmers etc…)

      • @ says:

        Not a respectable generation.

      • G W says:

I love the HEAT. simply because everybody else outside of Miami seems to hate them. haha
granted i’m from Washington State and now I have to root for OKC cuz the Sonics are dead. which sucks.

    • ron says:

dallas are again the underdog in this series, they need all the good lucks from us (dallas fans) and to non-dallas who wish them to win it all…thanks guys….

      • BostonF says:

I’m a Boston Fan…..Im rooting for no one. But I would love to watch this Finals as it is a good rematch between Dallas and Miami. Since both of these teams show big games in clutch time during the post season I’m excited how this Final series would end. I bet we’ll have a couple of Overtime games. Hell Yeah! NBA FINALS!!!!

    • syetemeja says:

Perfect ! Dallas is more complete and orchestrate well at both ends, the beating of the real new generation team like OKC not to mention sweeping the defending champs only proves them as the best in the NBA… Heat destined to melt and have no chance against the mavs. Even if all games be played in Miami..

      • Usuck says:

        in your dreams Dallas fan…
wake up! wake up! .. hahaha

      • pmichael says:

I agree 100%. Heat’s list is just Lebron-wade-lebron-bosh-lebron (he literally covers three positions!)+filler. Compared to the Mavs who have an all-star pg and a solid centre, there’s no way they’ll be able to keep up. There’s a reason Mavs have beaten the heat every game since 06 (that’s 10-0, a hell of a record), they’re deeper, smarter and tougher. Mavs in 6

      • Tenki says:

Mavs would have no chance if they were to play all games in AAA. Miami is the only unbeaten team in their home, where the Heat is loved and respected, unlike anywhere else in the league. I feel sorry for the Heat because if things fall into place, they would be celebrating in Dallas’ home court.

      • Gary says:

Heat have no chance agianst Boston – Fail
Heat have no chance agianst Chicago – Fail
Heat have no chance against Dallas – soon to fail

    • To Danger says:

You shoul want the heat to win, BECAUSE they knock out your team and that would make your team not that bad, If being knock out by the team that won the title.

      I wont Dalles to win.

  3. HeatWave says:

Marion you used to play for Miami so when we need you throw in a monkey wrench, mums the word.

  4. toaSTEEZ says:

Peja, Dirk, Kidd, and Marion all veterans deserve a ring before retiring. i want the Heat to win but if they lose so what they’ve made it to the Finals in their 1st season together which says a lot! the big 3 certainly have time on their side to achieve a championship as to the Mav’s veterans don’t. but either way it’ll be a very exciting series. u got 2 of the best players in the league and an unstoppable fadeaway shooter in dirk facing off in the Finals. hope the refs dont ruin it like they did in 2002 and 2006

    • EmJay23 says:

Agreed. Whoever takes it the trophy will be in good hands.
      Let’s enjoy this incredible series.

  5. asamesau says:

Dallas will give a good fight but heat will win the series and grab their second championship look at this http://sportales.com/sports/miami-heat-the-2011-nba-champions/ wew that is for sure having lebron in the team who is one of the best players ever look at this http://sportales.com/basketball/top-five-nba-players-in-all-time/… we all know that Lebron improved a lot this season and ready to take his first championship ring http://sportales.com/basketball/heat-versus-maverickswill-history-repeat-itself/ .. lets all enjot the game guys.. no haters please

  6. AHMAD says:

Yea always hated Dallas…but they do deserv to win this one..again in the other hand just for all the Hate that came Heat’s way this season they deserv it too….let the finals beginsssssss!!!!

    i love this game

    • mabuhay says:

any particular reason why you hated Dallas Mavs? we are good loving people you know! :-)
Mavs in 6! Yeah! go MAVS!

  7. Hagen Archer says:

Make no mistake, Dallas is going to win this series. I’m not just saying that as a ticked off Bulls fan, I promise. I just think that Dirk is a man fixated on one single goal right now. The last time a player had focus like that from start to finish in the playoffs, Michael Jordan walked away in June with his 6th championship.

I also think there are some Mavs players that the title will mean more to. Jason Kidd is a season or two away from retirement, Marion’s got a lot to prove (especially since he was traded from Miami two years ago), Jason Terry has felt loss as much as Dirk, with the two of them being the only remaining members o\f the team that lost in ’06. Peja isn’t getting any younger … the list goes on.

    Anyway … Dallas in FIVE!

On a side note, I wonder how much Pat Riley came out of pocket to get the benefit of the calls in the Bulls series? Miami goes to the line less often, Bulls are in the finals. And before you attack me, go check the numbers.

    Peace.

    • LloydAngelo says:

as Joakim Noah said, the Heat are Hollywood as hell… hehehe… you gotta respect and give credit where is due my friend. Calls are part of the game… if goes the other way around you will not be here talking about it… Live with it…

      • HeatWave says:

Noah needs to learns how to shoot properly before he criticizes the refs. I don’t see how anyone that didn’t follow the technique on how to shoot can even tell someone else how to call fouls.

    • Poyser says:

Mavs in 5? You have got to be joking. This series is matched up almost perfectly, it should go 6 at least. And Riley didn’t buy off the refs for calls, that’s being a sore loser. D-Rose is the only Bulls player who can get to the rim to draw fouls, Miami has 3 players who do that on a regular basis. That’s why they shoot more free throws. I don’t see you complaining that Dirk shot 61 free throws by himself in the Thunder series. Seriously, everyone needs to quit hating on the Heat because they trampled over their favorite team or because they are in the Finals by joining 3 superstars together. Just enjoy watching the series because it should be a great one, and it will probably get ugly.

      • mabuhay says:

MAVS in 6! Heat is over rated since signing Lebron and Bosh. We beat them twice in regular games think about that! Sure, final is another level but Mavs are more focused than in 2006.

    • Tenki says:

You don’t sound like a ticked off Bulls fan, you sound like a bitter Bulls fan who can’t get over with your loss against Miami. The Heat attempted more free throws because the Bulls were more like startled chickens, biting on each fake Miami pulled out. They are more aggressive than Chicago. And they played better defense than Chicago (i.e. less fouls, more shot blocks). It’s not Miami’s fault if Chicago can’t knock down shots given to them by the Heat. On the other hand, the shots Wade and James pulled off in the final three minutes in Game 5 were very much the same Chicago has on the other end. The only difference is that Miami’s shot cam through when it mattered most.

Dallas in five? Not happening, considering the fact that Miami is the only unbeaten team at home. The only way for Dallas to win this championship is when they steal Game 1 from AAA. I have to admit that both teams are virtually impossible to beat two times in a row. I would give this to Miami in six.

    • OldSchoolHeatFan says:

How about you tell Noah to score more than 13 points in the last 3 games…and tell Boozer to actually show up for more than 5 minutes per game…THAT’S WHY YOU LOST!

  8. Michael Wade says:

I say To all the Celtics Fan Better Luck next year I love the Lakers & I love Miami Heat! LET”S GO HEAT.
I Hope the MAV’s Choke again!

    • Paschal says:

So I guess by saying choke you’re kind of capitulating that they were better than the Heat. I think you’re right. And also D Wade got a LOT of help from the zebras. He very rarely actually put the ball in the net during live play in that series. A truckload of whistles went his way, I think we both know that don’t we?

      • kardo says:

Crank up the excuse machine even before the series starts! More so, champions wont choke, unless you are the Mavs.

    • To Michael Wade says:

      YES you,

I’m calling you out! You the love the Lakers &I love Miami Heat. You know why? That’s because you CAN NOT STAND TO LOSS, So you just pick the two teams that all ways or will all ways win games, That’s why. They can win games, but not the title games. Heat will win only 2 games. Dalles only loss one game at home, so Miami will lost a home this round.

      • To Michael Wade says:

        YES you,

I’m calling you out! You love the Lakers & love Miami Heat. You know why? That’s because you CAN NOT STAND TO LOSS, So you just pick the two teams that all most ways or will all most ways win games, That’s why. They can win games, but not the title games. Heat will win only 2 games. Dalles only loss one game at home, so Miami will lost a home this round.

    • QuestionMark says:

Your a Lakers fan, thats why your hating on the Mavs, right? They swept your team by 40 pts WITHOUT choking and they can beat the Heat without choking, if they choked they would have lost to OKC because atleast 3 of the games went down to clutch performances, if they choked then Dirk would have missed all of the shots in that 15 pt comeback in Game 4, and would have missed the clutch 3 in Game 5, and also Marion and Kidd wouldn’t have been able to make clutch defensive plays. I’m an OKC fan, they got beat by the Mavs and no matter how amazing the Heat are, Im still rooting for Dallas. Dirk deserves a ring, especially the way he has been playing so far.

  9. Mavs4Life says:

I’ve been an objective observer of these Mavs this year, trying not to get my hopes up too much due to the past failures, but I’ve always known this team had enough pieces to make a champion, they just had to handle the pressure. Even with Butler out, these Mavs are deep, experienced, and determined; and even the Hollywood Heat (thanks Noah) is going to have a hard time containing everybody, especially Dirk. He may be playing the best basketball of his career, and it just seems so poetic that the first real shot at redemption for the Mavs, comes against the ones who took it away the first time, and I think they’ll do it.
    Mavs in 6

  10. James23 says:

    Let’s GO MAVSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!

  11. Stan says:

The Mavs will crush the Heat. The bench will light it up. I respect the Heat and the run they’re having but they about to face the hugriest NBA team. GO MAVS

    • Gary says:

Don’t expect any more perfect shooting games from Peja, Terry’s good for a performance but when the D is on Peja will choke.

  12. Rich says:

How about winner takes both 2006 and 2011 trophies, since Heat’s 2006 win was almost meaningless and questionable ?

This is going to be a great series – LET’S GO MAVS !

    • Suck My Dirk41 says:

Dallas has this one.. if they win the first one in Miami it’ll be done in 5. Everything has lined up perfect for them to take it this year. they battled the refs in the WCF in games 3-4 and still ended up ripping out the hearts of the thunder. The heat dont have much heart if u ask me… it took an epic collapse by the bulls last night for miami to win that game.. Lebron aint getting looks like that against the dirty D in the finals… I agree mark Cuban should go get the 06 trophy if we win in less than 6 games lol.

      • ron says:

since dallas is a pretty solid road team, i hope they will win games 1 and 2….

      • Tenki says:

Now you are questioning the heart of a champion in Wade and Haslem. Tell me, Dallas got heart? If they want a championship trophy, just ink it like the way Terry did, and it will be forever theirs. Don’t talk about heart, Dirk may have the hottest hands in the league, but doesn’t have the heart of a champion because he isn’t one.

Miami won against Chicago because they wanted it more. Wade was off for the most of the night, but when the sense of urgency got the better of him, he didn’t miss when it mattered. It was infectious, as James became unconscious. He should be in jail now for ripping the hearts of the Bulls and their fans who are rooting for Dallas now for the sake of vengeance.

Dallas is not used to the hostility Miami has faced throughout the season. Doc Rivers knew what Miami will become if the hostility towards them won’t stop, and this monster that evolved from hate are proving everybody wrong. Critics said Miami can’t beat elite teams, Big Three can’t play as one, no support from other players, doesn’t know how to close games, needs a good coach, won’t get past the first round, will get swept by Boston, get swept by Chicago, and now Dallas in five. What’s next? The end of the world is near?

    • @ says:

LOL!!!! That will be the heats most meaningful championship. From here on out whatever rings they get will be meaningless.

      • Tenki says:

Yes, they will win meaningless championships, and the rest of the league will play meaningless careers. LMAO, you don’t know anything about the Heat.

      • Gary says:

Thank you for acknowledging the win(s) in advance. We appreciate it.

  13. mandela says:

Miami Heat Lebron dominates both the offensive and defensive ends
    Miami Heat In 5 Games

    • Paschal says:

Doubt that, picking them to win makes sense, but in 5? Highly doubt that.

      • cb says:

You doubt Miami in 5? Hey, how many thought Miami would defeat the Bulls in 5?!! Anything is possible and my tip is that Miami’s defence will be too much for the Mavs.

      • greg says:

I agree with Paschal, Mavs are a much better offensive team than Bulls, After all, it is their inability to score tha basketball that lead to their downfall, Bulls got their own stops, but when it mattered most, there was no one to score the ball once Spolstra figured out a way to shut down Rose. First of all, Dirk is a 7-footer, who can spread the floor and can kick out to the open man. Second of all, Mavs are a much better 3-point shooting team. Peja single handedly downed the Lakers. Jason Kidd has become a premier 3-point shooter. Jason Terry/Barea can knock it down if left open. The bulls didn’t have success making their attempts. Kyle Korver didn’t play enough minutes, because he is a defensive lyability.
Also do not forget that Tyson Chandler is capable of dropping 14-15 points, to go along with 10-12 boards, a night if the ball goes through him. Heat has no one that can guard him. Their centers are not that young anymore. Unless Wade and Lebron play to their strengths, which is getting to the line, and knocking down their three-throws it will be weighted in Dallas’s favor. So each team has their own strengths and weaknesses. This is definately not going to be a 5 game series, I’m leaning towards more of a game 7 possibility than any team in 5…

      • FFT says:

        Deal with it

  14. will says:

to all LAKERS MAVS CELTICS BULLS fans out there and BIGGEST LOSER, SHUT UP and watch the game… the HEAT deserve to win the ECF title and they REALLY DESERVE it… LOL

  15. Zer0Mar0 says:

Mavs are not Bulls. They excel at the bench. They will way outscore the Heats bench and that will be the factor. Mavs in 6

    • HeatWave says:

Lol Bulls had arguably the best bench in the league. At least that’s what all the experts said.

      • ron says:

but they have relative small line-up…dallas bench is way way better than bulls bench….

      • Law064 says:

@Heatwave yeah the best bench for D but scoring no way in hell. Some experts are just regular people like us making predictions. I went to a few games and I always wondered how the Bulls were playing so well without real scorers on the bench. Boozer should be traded big loser put up a whopping 5 points in a elimination game GTFOH bum. I can’t wait til Tuesday hopefully this is not the last we see, please no lockout!!!

      • HeatWave says:

@ Law064, if it was the best bench on D then they should have stopped Miami don’t you think? Also the whole lack of scoring thing kind of irritates me now. After game one people were prasing the Bulls bench for coming up big. Then Miami shuts them down and it becomes “Bulls have no scorers besides Rose”. The fact is that they did but just couldn’t use them how they wanted against Miami. IDK why credit just can’t be given to Miami for doing what people said they couldn’t.

    • Usuck says:

Ok Dallas has the best bench..
      tell whatever you want
Dallas is the best offensive and defensive team
      tell me more
      LOL

  16. islandjoe says:

This is an interesting match-up. Heat in 6.

  17. Random Fan #2 says:

People need to calm down a bit. It doesnt matter who deserves it more, or who is hungrier. Those who made it to this stage of the playoff all want to win.

It’s going to be who can execute. Bull and Celtics both have great pieces, but neither of them were able to close off a game and execute down the stretch. It’s out of character for the Celtics; the Bulls are still young and improving.

I am Heat fan who did not want LeBron to come over. But, what the hey, he’s here. He plays hard make become pretty damn clutch. LeBron+Wade+Bosh will be quite difficult to match up against for Mavs. Same for Dirk+Kidd+Centers, not sure if anyone on Heat can match up against them that well.

It’ll be a fun series to watch. Let’s get ready to rumble.

    • ron says:

yap, im a dallas fan…everybody down played the mavs this season, specially in the playoffs but they made a remarkable run.

mavs dont have big 3 but have better bench, dirk will give heat problems defensively, while james will also be giving loads of problems to the mavs….

i dont believe that NBA is scripted and refs will make teams win or lose…they are humans and can also make mistakes..after all its the players who puts the ball to the ring not the refs and david stern and company…

this will be a good series, lets sit back and enjoy the last remaining games this season…and hope no lock out next season

    • HeatWave says:

Very true. This has nothing to do with who deserves it more. The team that plays the best will win. But I do have to say that if the Big 3 all show up it will be a short series.

  18. seewhatyouwanttosee says:

Miami Heat D WADE proves it was not a fluke watch the tape haters and i puled for mavs back then but when saw d wade i change to individual i still would like to see nash get a ring….let nash come to the heat pllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllzzzzzzzzzz

    • Paschal says:

Watch the tape??? Are you serious? I HAVE watched the tapes, some of the games were over three hours long because the Heat got more free throws than any other team in finals history! WATCH THE TAPES? Get that crap out of here! Wade spent almost 10 minutes at the line BY HIMSELF in game 6! That comment took some serious nerve. Good teams put the ball in the net, not scream everytime they jump and wait for a whistle.

      • Law064 says:

I agree what tapes? Wade did go to the line so much. It was like Stern said let’s give him Kobe Powers LMAO. I liked Wade before that when he was a rookie he was under the radar because of Lebon & Melo but in the playoffs that year wade got a lot of recognition because he played well in that playoff run. This series can go either way no stopping Dirk Wade or Lebron should be a great series and like someone else said hopefully this will not be the last.

      • Gary says:

Not a single game went over 3 hours. Game four however was 3 hours exact but did you forget that it was an overtime game? Also game six? What series would that be seeing as how none have went past five?

I’m a mavs fan but…….no that’s probably not gonna happen, wishfull thinking. They should definitely plug up the middle with a zone though and minimize the damage. But no, nobody can shut him down.

  20. Jayson says:

Mavs in 5. the big depth in the bench will carry the Mavs unlike the Heat they are only relying to their Big 3.

  21. best nba season says:

the heat been gettin lucky..they beat the celtics because the celtics were injured and they beat the bulls because the bulls only have one player in derrick rose..heat dont stand a chance against the mavs..mavs too deep and hungry..mavs in 5

    • cb says:

Someone once said; “you make your own luck”!

    • Kobleed says:

Then Dallas got lucky also. Facing the number 4 seed in the WCF. and Defeating the Lakers with their retiring coach and Pau aging overnight . And Brandon Roy being injured and has limited minutes

  22. JoJo20 says:

mavs are going to shut down the heat. they have way better all around players. look at the heats bench. their bench scores like 17 points a game while the mavs bench scores like 30

  23. wenggers says:

    FACT:
the heat never defeated the mavs this season, not in dallas, not in miami….
so go figure…. go kidd… .. go mavs

    • MiamiVSdallas says:

interesting match to watch. underdog team in west against the most hated team in east.

    • MH4L says:

Um heat never beat the bulls either…but we did in finals….we only beat boston once yet we beat them in finals…finals are a whole different ball game just because in the season we didn’t beat them doesn’t mean heat can’t now. i think that has been proven…Heat in 6

    • @ says:

The bulls swept the heat this year, and you see where the bulls are. So the fact that the heat didnt beat the mavs at all this year, means nothing. ANd this is coming from someone who hates the heat.

    • Kobleed says:

ok, i’ll figure that one out for you..

      season:
      boston 1-3
      bulls 0-3
      mavs 0-2

      playoffs

      boston 1-4
      bulls 1-4
      so…
      mavs 1-4

      are you happy now?haha

    • Tenki says:

FACT: all teams who beat the Heat in the regular season went fishing in South Beach.

    • HeatWave says:

Mavs beat LA 4-0 after going 1-3 in regular season. We all know what Miami did against Boston and Chicago. Do you really think that those TWO games that they beat Miami in the regular season mean anything? Actually let me take that back beacuse Dallas won twice with Butler and only by two points the 2nd time and Miami had a recovering Mike Miller and was without Haslem. Miami in six is all I have to say.

  24. Joseph says:

    Go Mavs…let’s go…!

  25. I would send Howard to guard Tyson Chandler…

  26. Claudia ca. says:

Magloire would be better to guard Tyson Chandler

    • @ says:

The only player on the heat team that would bother Chandler is lebron. Other than that, the heat have no one that guard or stop Chandler. And hes not even a beast.

      • The Big Tree says:

nope, it’s either Bosh or Anthony can take Chandler and James with Nowitzki… I’m a heat fan but ths Dallas team is more dangerous than Heat… but whatever happens i’m still support Miami…

This is the Final series to prove who is best clutch team, you must to beat your opponent to deserve for the Ring… I would say ,the ball is round… so goodluck to Miami and Dallas, Only the Strong Team Survive…

  27. Karam says:

No matter what guys, as a mavs fan everything is against the mavs at this point. The mavs will have to play perfect to win, their defense must be perfect, offence must be perfect, and we must play with poise. Do I think the Mavs will win i pray to god they do, this would mean more to us Maverick fans than anyone. This will solidify dirks legacy.Yet again we are in a huge odds, heat play good defense, 3 super stars. Can one superstar and a supporting cast take on 3 superstars. I hope

If he mavs lose I will be devestated and crushed, but it will just show no matter what,it was not ment to be. And no one will blame Dirk this time, becuase this time regardless the odds against him and the mavs

    Lets go mavs.

    • @ says:

I would disagree. And the Mavs have been playing perfect since the playoffs started. Portland 4-2, Lakers 4-0, OKC 4-1. Looking pretty darn good to me.

    • DIRK'S REVENGE!!! says:

The way I see it both teams have a good shot, it just comes down to how all the role players step up for both sides.
      That should make the difference.

I just hope the “Superstars” don’t get too much charity from the refs and ruin the series.

That is really the worst case to worry about for all NBA fans.

  28. mike says:

for those who thinks kidd and Dirk and other veterans of Dallas that they deserve to win, well i say this they should play hard with heart and importantly they should win 4 games that is the only time they deserve to have a ring and because that they are 1 of the best player who played in the NBA. same with miami! goodluck DALLAS and MIAMI.

  29. Paschal says:

Mavs should play a LOT of zone. I was surprised Chicago didn’t do it that much, I guess when your man to man stuff is as good as theirs they didn’t think they needed to, but the Heat are taylor made for a zone defense. No point guard, weak shooting, and not much height, they’re begging to be zoned. Come on Carlisle, hit’em with a steady diet of box zone and see if they can shoot. On offense, feed Dirk in the midpost all day with Chandler cutting and flashing to the low post a lot, don’t overdo the pick and roll, the Heat are athletic enough to guard that well. Use your advantages Mavs, size, shooting, and bench. Don’t play their game.

    • The Big Tree says:

yeah your right, Dallas has the advantage, size and long ranged shots… i think miami is underdog here coz they don’t enough PG and C… I would say Dallas can finish the game and execute well the ball down the stretch, just don’t play the pick n’ rolls coz this is the specialty of James and D-Wade…
So goodluck this both teams… congrats for reaching the Finals…

    • Tenki says:

Zone? Good luck with your analysis. Last time Miami lost in a zone defense was ages ago. A simple cut from the weak side or the baseline, it’s all done. How can you guard a 6’8, 280-pound cutter in LeBron? Sorry, not happening.

  30. lebron is going to shut dirk down just like he did all the other bums he played against. heat in 5. lebron finals mvp. his first of many rings. all u haters will still come up with excuses for the mavs like they missed their shots or it was the refs. heat kill the mavs. i cant stand u hatin punks. bulls and boston freaks

    • Paschal says:

Oh we’re definitely gonna see about that loudmouth, we’re definitely gonna see.

    • renba says:

I think Lebron will be the cause of Miami to breakdown this time. It will be marked on NBA history.

    • @ says:

AAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA dude , lebron sucks. Its unbelieveable how people like you still brag about this guy. I cant understand how you can look up to someone who spent 7 season with a team, didnt win one ring. Then runs to another superstars team to chase one. Amazing.

      • The Big Tree says:

hey hey watch out, be careful what u are saying, whatever LBJ did in the past just give him credit and some respect, he’s only human and made mistakes… Respect to him of what he did in Cavs for those 7 seven years… He leaves Cavs coz he wants a Title that’s all folks, and it’s all about business… u have to used your brain buddy, respect to him of what he done on his career and accomplishment… so, continue hating on LBJ and he will continue also giving u a worst nightmare, and by the way, I don’t know if u can do of what he can… so shut your mouth dude…
        Goodluck to Dallas and Miami…

    • DIRK'S REVENGE!!! says:

Lebron can’t and won’t shut Dirk down. NOBODY can shut Dirk down!

I hope the Heat are foolish enough to put Lebron on Dirk and he’ll be in foul trouble on the bench!

Just wait and see … 48 points off 12 for 15 … Lebron can’t do that!

Stop worshipping your Superfriends and get real!

    • Law064 says:

@Lebron the next Jordan your name is so stupid 1st off. Lebron is the next Lebron won’t be another like him just like Mike there will never be another like him. Your comment is so ridiculous Lebron will shut down Dirk? You must’ve hit your head like Scottie Pippen when he made his comments. You can’t be serious nobody has shut Dirk down this post season he avraged 40 vs OKC. Ibaka a great defender couldn’t stop him Durant(6’11 and long) couldn’t stop him. I highly doubt Lebron can stop a 7′ shooter like Dirk. That’s like me saying Shawn Marion can shut down Lebron it’s not going to happen. They might can stop them for a few possesions but for a entire game it’s not possible.@Lebron the next Jordan your the greatest bandwagoner I’ve seen on nba.com

  31. Chris says:

How can anyone “hate” the mavericks? I don’t get it.. They are the epitome of success/humility. Dirk is just sick to watch (the good kind of sick). Why hate the mavericks? Cause they have more white players then the average team? (Yes, for those that hate the mavericks, that’s probably why you do)

    • Paschal says:

That’s been the elephant in the room for several years now. Dirk’s about as humble and likeable as it gets, Kidd is mellow and never has anything bad to say about anyone, Barrea is a hero to short dudes everywhere, but unfortunately in this league skin tone has a lot to do with public opinion unfortunately. Lebron wins the east for the second time and people are ready to say he’s better than Jordan, Dirk wins the west for the second time and most scoffed at Carlisle’s top ten comment. Go figure that one out.

  32. Carlo says:

i dont like people who abandoned their mother teams it so sad they are worst than scum…………….

    • ron says:

if its dumb for you to chance teams, so be it, others have different opinions…so let them be….we are all free to choose whether its our city/town or not who is playing…..

      • Carlo says:

but the way they did in toronto and cleveland not acceptable for me…….. thats my opinion though :)

      • Usuck says:

then you better try out in the NBA maybe you have a chance to play…..

  33. zackky says:

Mavs in 5??? If they lose Game 1, they’ll have to win 4 straight, a feat the heat has already done.

    • Zeradius says:

A feat also accomplished by Dallas or were you not paying attention when they beat the TWO TIME DEFENDING CHAMPIONS 4 straight without dropping a single game? I’ll forgive you, you probably weren’t. Oh yeah, in case no one has realized, Dallas has won FIVE STRAIGHT GAMES ON THE ROAD!!!!! Inclusive of winning 10 of their last 11 overall.

  34. b-rad says:

I’d love to see the Mavs win but if the heat find a way to slow Dirk down it could be problematic. Without Caron Butler the Mavs really don’t have a consistent scorer who can create his own shot. Butler would have been a good matchup defensively for wade as well. If Dirk is doubled but can find JJ, Peja and Terry for open looks that could put them over the top if the shots go in. Should be a fun series to watch.

    • ron says:

dallas bench is one of the best compared to heats mediocre bench….dirk will always get alot of help…..barea, terry, stevenson….

      • HeatWave says:

Dallas’s bench is good. I wouldn’t hype them up too much seeing as how they played the Heat earlier in the season without chemistry and without the additon of Mike Bibby, without Haslem and a recovering Mike Miller. Just a thought.

  35. AusRob says:

@ LeBron the Next Jordan – that’s a pretty theory and all except LeBron probably won’t even guard Dirk. Not unless Miami want to see their star player in foul trouble, which Dirk has a knack for doing. No, Dirk will be the duty of Chris Bosh. You know, the same guy who felt uneasy guarding the geriatric Kevin Garnett?

The Mavs are going to go to town in the paint, they have no real answer to Dirk and Chandler. If Terry, Dirk and Peja can light it up from three consider the Heat gone.

  36. Beffie says:

Everybody knows the Heat are going to take it… it was meant to be since last summer, or before in fact…

  37. LakerFan says:

The Dallas Mavericks will win the 2010-2011 NBA Championship with Dirk Nowitzki being the Finals MVP. I know the Mavs beat my team, no let me rephrase it sweep and dominated my team, but that just prove that they were the better team so in my case after them beating the 2time champs, they are now the best team in the league and a championship would just make a more sense to me. MAVS in 5! GO DIRK! GO MAVS!

    • ron says:

i actually believe most lakers fans will cheer for the mavs……not because mavs beat lakers, its more about james and what happened last summer….so come on guys lets push the mavs to play even better….

      LETS GO MAVS…..

  38. BrianZ says:

I’m Lakers fan but I’m also basketball fan. I rooted for the Lakers 3-peat but they played suck this season so they got only 2-peat. I don’t hate any team or any player. I just hate fans who don’t know basketball and just blindly worship their own team. I want the Dallas team wns this year but if I had to put my bet, I’ll select the Heat. The Dallas is hot with Dirk but the Heat has 3 super stars and Lebron doesn’t quit his game like previous years yet. The Heat also has size to guard Dirk, not like the Thunder. Game 1 is a must for me to watch. Have fun to watch those 2 good teams fans.

    • Nada says:

Nobody of the Heat can guard Dirk period!!! Collison is probably one of the few who can slow him down. Nobody on the Heat team can guard Tyson Chandler too! Heat has favor in quickness but not sizes.

      • Tenki says:

And who would care to guard Chandler? He can’t even shoot free throws like his life depended on it.

  39. filipinoheat4 says:

Nanananana!,you always hate heat…LOZERS!hahaha!,FEEL the heat kid`s!,all the best team`s in the league was destroyed by the heat this playoff`s.talk and talk babies. You`ll cry again!hahaha!can u play defense mav`s?.OLD Hopefuls!,hahaha…………in 2006 your line-up was much better than today…you lose!,we only got d`wade and shaq that time…com on!,HATERs!,,,…bunches of loser`s fan!hahahaha!

Sorry about this comment Paschal, just ignored it… I think he was High..
I’m a Heat fan but I’ll a give a credit to Dallas to win this Final Series, Big Respect to Dallas..
the great Nowitzki, the wonder kid point guard jason kidd, the jet Terry and The Matrix Marion deserve a ring…
goodluck to both teams Mavs and Heat…

  40. shaun says:

    heat in 4 sweep

    • Paschal says:

Did you get highlights in your hair to match your pom-poms?

    • BostonF says:

SWEEP? I dont think it’s gonna happen to any of them. Worse would be 4-1 or 4-2 either it be Miami or Dallas.

  41. Chitaunvkts says:

    Step by step oh baby
    .
Step 1: send the flagrant foul
    Step2: use the elbows
Step3: yell all the time in the side line
Step4: lost your voice and sweat in your underpants
Step5: Comb your hair with gel like a fairytale.

    LOL

  42. kramnayr26 says:

fact: miami never won a game against dallas (10-0)since they got the o’brien trophy…

it will be a great series..revenge time..

dallas in 6..if heat take game 6..heat in 7

  43. wangsio says:

Nobody from the heat can stop dirk….. Hahahaha.. Mavs in 6

  44. LovesNBA says:

Regular season wins do not affect the outcome of the playoffs, just ask the Celtics and Bulls……..

  45. LloydAngelo says:

Go HEAT!!! Wade made the Mavs fall on their knees on ’06… history repeats itself… Wade the experienced version has two buddies with him that will help get him another Championship ring… and congrats to Coach Spo you deserve this…

  46. tom says:

    Barea will demolish the Heat

  47. ShawnXMatrixMarionXfan says:

that’s right matrix tell them this ant about the heat its about the dallas mavs i have a feeling zshawn gonna be a good matchupis sp against lebron in this series

  48. MFFL says:

Funny everyone keeps saying the HEAT has 3 stars……GUESS how many stars the MAVS have that can each score 20 easy…..Dirk, Kid, Terry, Marion, JJ, Chandler……I could go on. Heat are talented and they didnt get to the finals by just walking through the door. But MAVS take it. They are so focus that winning the west didnt faze them. It means nothing. They want the big one!

  49. MFFL says:

Also the Heat and Mav team that played in 06 are not the same. So get that out your head. Shaq isnt on your team anymore. DUH in my Charlie Sheen voice. 5 years has past, I believe we have grown since then. CMON MAN!

  50. Stranghero says:

NBA Finals Today Makes me shaken.. A Great Team(HEAT) vs a Hungry Team(DALLAS)….I can’t believe Dallas would make it through the Finals.. and we expect that Heat would win this series bec, of the Great line up(JAMES, WADE, BOSH). Either HEAT or DALLAS would win in the Finals.. we cannot deny the fact that NBA today were great.. they give us lot of excitement and happiness..

  51. 3D FO LIFE says:

yo gibbs you said dat u hate the Mavs and da Heat den why u watch plays all yall kept on talking n hating bout lebron sayin he a sell out but yall have to understand that the man made his decision to come to miami.he was a free agent if that were i would do the same..the man is a great player n have a great talents so what if yall hatin right now the man thinking bout his ring hes going to win…i wish the best to Cavs next year n remember that pple always needs help no matter how full ur bank account is you cant do all by urself…………………………………….so stop hating and thats why da heat rubbing it i a yall haters face……too bad so sad……..yall teams didnt even made it to da final…..later haterz

  52. Rhajen says:

sheez all you heat haters are dumb,,, live with it heat on the finals not your east team.. dallas on the other hand will be a tough team to beat for miami.. but im quite sure that dallas will have a tougher time to beat lebron and wade 4x especially lebron is playing great basketball and wade is still wade gonna find ways to help heat on their 2nd championship in franchise history goo heat all the way..

by the way.. HATERS GONNA HATE..lulz

  53. timberwolves says:

This series can go either way. Been a fan off j.kidd since the net days and p.stovakovic since the kings days. Dallas has a deep bench and many weapons. However, the team that plays the better defense and that hustles the most will take the series. I predict some overtimes, some ejections, some pushing and grabbing, some fragrant fouls… but in the end miami in 7.

  54. Magic Fan says:

Look people, i think we all know this series is gonna go. Mavs play well, Heatles moan and winge to refs and spend 4 hours at the free throw line, Heat win the series… This will be a crap series that will agrivate everyone bar Heat fans. I’m sorry but you know its truth

  55. NBA down under says:

How is Lebron a sellout for leaving the cavs? He played his heart out through 7 seasons and two contracts and with a player that Scottie Pippen today argued was better than Jordan, the cavs were still unable to win a championship. He didnt let them down, they let him down as we saw in game 5 against the celtics last year. He owes them nothing. Hate him, rate him or just appreciate him, the man deserves a ring. Heat in 7

  56. Sp says:

The look on Dirk Nowitzki’s face, during the entire play-offs has been one of a stone-cold killer. He has that same look in his eye permanently that Blake Griffin has when he posterizes someone, the same look that Glen Rice and Ray Allen get when their three pointers just won’t miss, the same look that Joakim Noah desperately wishes he could contort his goofy face into. Watching Lebron James guard Dirk will be a truly amazing thing to see. If Dirk doesn’t waver; if he stays the course and shoots the lights out, then Miami don’t really stand a chance. And I am saying that entirely aware that they have two of the best three players in the league on their team. Guess what, the other top three player is 7 feet tall, as manic and full of icy blood as I have ever seen anyone ever be, and he is about to drop the hammer on the Heat like a strong man at a carnival. If Dirk gets the back-up he deserves from Barea and Marion, then they can punish the Heat and their big three completely. JJ Barea is wayyyyy too fast for Wade or Bibby, Chandler will murder Bosh, and Peja and Kidd will need to be on their game with their 3′s. If so, we are going to be left with Dirk and Lebron battling for the title of the best player in the world right now. Bring it on. Mavs in 5.

    • tech says:

although i really like joakim and his game… i just love that comment… …. lol…

    • Heat Fan says:

Dude your an idiot. JJ Barea is waaay too fast for Wade? Yea because Wade didnt just guard D Rose the MVP and fastest pg in the league and help hold him to really bad numbers. Yea Barea is just SO much better than Rose now.

Please, where do you guys come up with this so called “insight”?…..WOW

    • Tenki says:

What does Wade look like to you? 7’9 and 600 pounds? Barea too fast? I’ll tell you what: Wade won’t guard Barea while kneeling. Stay off the drugs dude.

    • Zohan says:

Wade has a 50-inch vertical leap, not a 50-inch waist.

  57. !!! says:

Mavs are hungry and, damn right, they’re gonna get served in the finals :D

    lol

  58. King K.A says:

@ Heatwave your comments make a lot of sense lol

  59. greg says:

Honestly, the best team is going to win. Every team believes that they could win. No one knows what is going to happen. Chances are, Heat are going to be at the line more, because of their athelticism, not the calls. Dirk is going to be Dirk. As apposed to the other players in Dallas, they could score 30 one game and be 3-17 the next game, that will be the X factor. Heat has a way of figuring out how to shut people down. Look at Rose’s field-goal percentage. Carlos Boozer was ineffective. He is a star, no? Atleast he was back in Utah. Yes, Dallas has size, but at the same time, Only 1 7 footer can spread the floor, can Tyson Chandler make 15-17 foot jumpers? The answer is no. Can Haywood make them? Again, the answer is no. Both Both and Big Z can spread the floor, Actually I expect Z to see more playing time, he is 7’2″ after all, and I think they’ve been saving him for the Finals. He has long range abilities too, I’ve seen numerous times him making open 3′s. I believe the major factor would be 3-point shooting. If Mike Miller can get out of his slump, if Jones is getting playing times and dropping 25 points from the bench anything can happen. If the series goes to 7 games, it’ll be Miami. Heat needs to win both at home, and if they take 1 game in Dallas than its going to be Miami’s win, because they have Homecourt. We can debate all we want about who deserves it, or who wants it “more.” I believe that every player on each of those teams want’s the Trophy. LeBron has a heart, he is a human being, and I believe he has more heart than he’s willing to show, after all he left Cleaveland to get that ring. Its going to be a fight till the end, no one is going to give in and hand over the trophy. They all want it.

    • HEAT631 says:

Finally!! An unbias comment!! Hats off sir!!

      • greg says:

Thank you, it gets pretty annoying to read “hater’s” comments, I thought this is a discussion board on who is going to win, an analysis of sort, but I guess I was wrong, most of the time its rants about how “amazing” someone’s team is, as if they were a part of it…I guess if they have nothing intelligent to put down they put something “offensive” down. Whatever works :) . There’re some intelligent answers and prognosis on here from time to time. It’ll be what it’ll be. No one expected the Phoenix Sun’s in WCF last year. And everyone expected the Spurs to make it out of the first round. Some of the NBA analyst even picked Spurs to win…This is the NBA…Where Amazing Happens.

  60. nanan says:

    Ok ok ok
this is an equal chance for both team. I say this y? cuz mavs have a center and depth and their bench. For example mavs bench’s point in Game 4 against lakers were 86 and lakers score 86!!!!!

MAvs are suppose to win but lebron is in the way, cuz he is in the illuminati and sold his soul so he will be really good.
so idk… but in the end god’s power will beat the devils
    SOOOO GOOOO MAVSS

    Dallas people stand up!!!!

  61. renz_garnett says:

i hope that DALLAS MAVERICKS will win 2010-2011 nba championship.. because i think that this is the right time for dirk to get his ring as well as jason kidd..

  62. Ice Pogi says:

So That make the MAVS heroes??? I’ll take MIAMI as a Villain role…. Nothing is more dangerous than HEAT… Every game they’re getting BETTER…. MAVS is a complete team… and the HEAT have a lot of flaws….Their weakness is their main weapon…. Most of the heat opponents focus on the BIG 3… How about our weak bench??? It’s our weak bench that help the HEAT to win the ECF… That makes them more dangerous…Co’z you don’t see where and when it’s coming….Mavs on the other hand is the most Complete team I’ve seen… from 1st five to the 2nd five… Question is How do you expect to upgrade something when it is already fully LOADED??? Their margin for error is very thin… While the HEAT lives through their errors… What i’m saying is Championship belongs to the team who wins it…. May it be Dallas or MIAMI…. They made it this far…. May the BEST TEAM WIN…

    • DIRK'S REVENGE!!! says:

The Heat live through their errors?

You mean like all those turnovers from Wade? Hehehe …

      • HeatWave says:

Yeah cause when you have that many turnovers(which is rare), and the win, that means you’re dangerous.

  63. Jason says:

LeBron deserves a ring more than anyone on the Mavs and the Heat. He’s gone through a lot in his 7 years with the Cavs. He deserves it. He wants it. He will get it!

    • Law064 says:

@Jason Dirk deserves it just as much as Lebron. They both deserve it, they both lost in the finals 1 time and they both want it. The series will prove who wanted it the most. I’m a Celtic’s fan and live in Chicago. I saw the heat take down 2 teams that I like. So if the heat win it all I said it before that they deserve it. Dallas who I said would most likely be the team to get upset has poved me very wrong they beat Portland then swept the Lake show so if they win they deserve it as well. Good luck Miami and Dallas or Dallas & Miami. I know 1 thing the champs will be Mavs or Heat.

  64. miami sucks says:

wow! why does everyone think dallas is the underdog in the series? r u kidding me? they beat a more talented blazers, they sweep the defending champs, they beat the more athletic thunder than they were.. now how come they are the underdog in the series..

  65. Tom says:

its amazing how many fans miami has since lebron and bosh joined the team.

im not a fan of either team but id pick dallas in 6.

    • Heat Fan says:

Yea its called being a PLAYER fan..you should look it up. Its perfectly LEGAL by sports morals, and far removed from bandwagoning.

MAVERICKS and HEAT in the Finals???
The 2 teams that beat the Lakers and the Celtics.. WOW!
No one is the underdog in the series, dallas and heat are both 12-3 in the playoffs!
    So,, Hmmmmmmm. GO MAVS!

  69. abulidef says:

mavs is a good team but heat is a very good team..mavs must work hard even we know that they cant afford to depeat heat..we must acept the riality that heat is strong team you must combine jordan and brayant with rose…vs. the heater men….ok good luck marvs

  70. Winklor says:

Dallas’ depth could have won them the championship, if they were healthy. But with Caron Butler and Beaubois injured I have to give the advantage to Miami. With those two they could have played with really athletic line-ups and also with a pure finesse line-up creating not just match-up problems but also adjustment problems. If the line-up changes the teams need to adjust. But by the time the defense does adjust the other team will have already made 6 easy points. And Dallas because of the experience is the best at adapting. But that advantage is gone now.
I also think that “only a ring makes great” is total non-sense. Because it totally denies that Basketball is a team sport. There aren’t enough rings to go around. No superstar won without a great supporting cast. Kobe, Wade, Shaq, Kidd, Lebron, Rose, Dirk, Iverson, Dwight Howard all proved that. When they were without a superstar in their prime on their team, they didn’t win. The only ones who did it more or less was Duncan with the not fully developed Ginobili and Parker and Jordan with the young Pippen.
I find this very unfortunate for Kidd and Dirk. Please prove me wrong.

  71. mavs fan says:

    GO MAVS!!!
u can do it. underdogs again.
    beat the heat!

i hope the 2006 finals would pump up the JET to finish the heat this time…

    GO dirk and mavs!!

  72. Nets Fan says:

Heat at one point tore thru the NBA @ 22 -2
Make a wild guess who both losses were against?

    Lebron is a princess!!

  73. I’m torn on this years finals. It will suck for the Heat if they make it this far and lose. On the other hand Dirk and the Mavs have been grinding for years to get one and they look more ready than ever to get it. I guess i will sit back and just enjoy this one without any bias

  74. DDS says:

The Dallas Mavericks will be the new NBA Champions! They are more hungry and more deserving than the heat. Miami is an exciting team but they will be beaten by the simple, teamwork plays of the Dallas Mavericks! What a sweet revenge that will be!

  75. Martin from Austria says:

Go Heat! We are 4 wins away from accomplishing our goal!

  76. Edward says:

for me, dallas is not the underdog. it is a clear equal team. Miami was beaten by the dallas 14 times dating back from the 2006-2007 season. the mavs have always dominated the heat in all games in this season. why on earth should they be the underdog. surely lebron+wade+bosh will be hard to stop. and surely dirk+terry+tyson will also be a big problem. great series to come. surely we will see great battle of clutch players from SUPER dirk and the jet and KING lebron with the flash. hope you guys wont hate the heat because they have faced too many criticisms. instead cheer for your team. make the NBA reach another golden era like in the past.

  77. mo says:

no team deserved to win the finals, because no team win the games before without the help from the grey mouses.so many big mistakes from them to help both teams.so what.ask stern you will win the finals or crawford etc maybe you get the right answer ;-)

  78. cris says:

mavs in 5!!!LBJ is a GAY!!he deserves no ring!!!!scottie your a LOSER!!!for comparing m.j. to an effin GAY!!!!

  79. Chris-dallas or even miami says:

OK people lets start the talk.. nobody should hate both of this team. Y? they are at the top, the only question remaining is who will be higher than the other. the question will then be answered after this series..

PEOPLE, stop hating LeBron. he might not live up with your expectations but, its his own life, own destiny, own DECISIONS.its not about what people want him to be, its what what LEBRON JAMES wants himself to be. im not a fan of Lebron, not even a hater of him. the guy deserves what he deserves depending on how he will execute his plays on the finals.

To those who didnt believe that the MAVS wouldnt go this far,and hating them because they swept the defending champs, well you guys might want to open your eyes now. they are not the loudest team out there because of the fact that some of these guys are one of the most humble players out their, but its their play that stands out.

both of these team did their very best to be into the finals, MAVS learned from their mistake of losing a 23-point lead, MAVS swept the Lakers, MAVS hold their ground and kept their composure behind the surge of the OKC to defeat them. HEAT proving to the 76ers that they are much more dominant, HEAT shows the CELTS that the new era of big three is now on the rise, HEAT adjusted to the way the BULLS gives them and beat them at 5. so whoever team wins the trophy, the deserved it,

LASTLY, its too early to predict MAVS IN 5, HEAT IN 5 or in 6..you all cant see the future and its all or nothing now for both of these teams. :)

  80. HeatLovesCritics says:

..dOnt forget that “Defense wins championship”..Heat faces and knock-out two of the best defensive team in the NBA.Dallas shows nO “D” in their series.Lakers are not that gOod defensive squad and remember that OKC can easily score a 100+ points in their WCF series.Should give credit to the Heat although i love Jason Kidd to have a ring cause he deserves that way better than Dirk..Heat turns good defense to offense..History will repeat itself.i hoPe those Heat-haters are still on this forum making excuses after the Heat already raising the Larry O’Brien throphy..HEAT in 6

    • HeatWave says:

This is why I think Miami will win is their D and ability to score late in the game. For all the people talking about this season’s losses of Miami to Dallas, consider also that Chicago beat Dallas twice and limited them to 85 one game 77 the other.

  81. russel says:

Ei Shawn go home and let mommy prepare a food for u.. Coz u will nver get a ring baby………… Go Heat!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its not how good u at d point or watever position its the way u play d game and i think dwade and LBJ will go for the kill..

  82. HeatLovesCritics says:

@miami sucks..they beat a team that dont play good and though defense..thats it..Bulls and Heat ECF series made a record for highest rating on national television because of the beauty it showed on how to play good defense and being clutch at the time it needed most.comm’n check their scores.dallas beats a team that plays on your backyard who knows nothing but to score score score..of course Lakers are a quite good defensive squad but not tough.asked their management why they hire Coach Mike Brown?!..you will be a fool if you think for offense cause its for the “D”..Heat in Six..

  83. russel says:

HEY SEKOU MY MAN.. DONT WASTE UR ARTCLE FOR THIS DALLAS WHOS??????? GET SOME STORY ABOUT THE HEAT MEN THEY ARE D REAL DEAL NOT THIS DALLAS WHOOOOSERSSS????????

  84. azybaby says:

you dont deserve rings you earn em. if dallas outplay the heat then you have to take your hat off to them but if the heat win then you gotta respect them even tho you might not like them. GO HEAT!!!

  85. HeatWins. says:

Lebron will overwhelm both sides of the court. Heat in 6

  86. watcher says:

Dallas are hungry. Philly 82/83 hungry. So LBJ has gone 7 years with no ring. Big woop. Dirk, Jet, Marion, Kidd, Peja have about 245 years worth of falling short to make up for. And now is the time. I think they grasp that better than the self-proclaimed dynasty in Miami that has the mindset of being able to win a bag of Larry O’B's in the next 7-8 years.

    Mavs will win this series.

  87. sth says:

the only thing lebron deserves is to be brought back to reality.his arrogance is out of this world.
look at dirk, he´s so down to earth.he did some so incredible things all years long and is still a simple nice guy with the confidence to beat everyone.and he does…whole defense collapsin on dirk and he´s still owns everyone even durant who i thought could have been a good matchup for him.
if lebron could be concentrated on like this he wouldn´t be in the finals and all that thanks to wade.
wade is the one to who should get the credits in this team not the so called KING…HAHA

hope the nba will not give too much superstar bonus for better marketing.
its all about the game so the better team should win!!!!

  88. LeQuitter James says:

    mavs in 4 period.

  89. newklear says:

are you guys kidding me? talking that heat dont deserve the championship? have you SEEN their hustle and desire in the bulls series??? i mean, obviously they wanted it more, the mavs are a great team, but their stigma as a loser team will bury them in the end. + i would never say the heat would won the championship a month ago. but now, after seeing what lebron is capable of in the clutch,,,wow, no more reason to call him lechoke. at least not until he chokes again :)
just gotta say i LOVE reading the comments here on nba.com, different opinions of course, but nobody talks crap about religion, politics and other non basketball stuff. much love from croatia guys :)

  90. Cha says:

Mavs swept my Lakers. They better win it all – at least that way I could somehow say that they were beat by the champs and deserves to lose. But Miami, it’s just crazy, if you don’t stop Wade and LeBron, you’re pretty much in trouble. And if you do, you’re sacrificing the 4 spot, and Bosh could easily explode with 40.

  91. gunsllinger1987 says:

i would say dallas in 6. but wait how the officiating is going this time. it could be very profitable to have miami as champion. dont get me wrong but in the bulls-heat series were a lot of non calls that wade or james just get. want to point out im a bulls fan. but really dont get me wrong. the heat deserved to win. no doubt! but nobody can´t deny that it could be hard for nba if there flagship is going down. btw i watched the 94´finals during the timeouts of game 5 of the heat-bulls series. either james, wade, bosh or rose would get in trouble if you the league would put back the rules to that standard (real men´s sport). way much different to score

well. i hope miami isnt going to be a model for the new nba! cause after these last 5-8poser years i really love that grounded hard working new generation and it could be much more fun watching these durants rose and westbrooks in the future. and as jordan said best athletes in sports should compete against each other and not sticking together to win. i´m sure if things go right this time, the mavs are the better team and our kid from germany will save and keep the great game of basketball in the right direction.

that brings me to this other discussion. james is playing is first playoffs like a winner after 2 mvp year , after 7 years in the nba at a time when gets wade and bosh as sidekicks. sorry but after his “decision” it doesnt cares how much title he will win with this team. with his decision he clearly decided to win a lot of championships but not going to prove to deserve to compete with the 2 or 3 best players all time. todays people are really fast to make legends and this stuff. btw legends are not made they are born. he´s a great player. no doubt! but i´m wondering if it was just the emotions of pip after the bulls loss to say sth like that.

well in my opinion dirk is the best player in the nba right now but i´m from germany so how objective can that be. hope i´m wrong and money is not the big deal for the nba today. than we have a great comparison between james and dirk!

    Go MAVS! grĂ¼ĂŸe aus wĂ¼rzburg

  92. bigboy11 says:

great article@TENKI 1 Boston was not old when they swept the kincks when they lost to the heat they got old 2 Chicago was the best team with the best bench when they beat Atlanta, when they lost the heat we hear that they need more shooters . ray Allen is a better shooter than Jason terry he got shut down, Kevin Garnett, is a better player than the matrix and chandler he got shut down too, d rose and rondo, are better guards than barera and kidd and they got shut down too seems like all these star players are hav ing bad games against the heat.DALLAS dont play defense like Chicago wade and lebron is going to have great #, dirk is going to get his but how are they gonna stop wade and lebron,if OKC could have played a little defense they would have won 2 of them games against dallas

  93. gunsllinger1987 says:

ah btw in my opionion james wasn´t lechoke in the past because he missed a lot of crucial shots its more because watch some crucial games. he made just bad basketball decisions a lot of times and had fundamental errors. so it takes a lot mor to prove for james before getting away of this image. at least if he really wants to deserve to compete with mj, redmption shouldn´t make to easy for him. DON`T APPLY DOUBLE STANDARDS!!!!!!!!!

    mavs will sweep the heat

  98. Chicago faaaaaaan1 says:

This is gonna be an amazing finals series i am personally rooting for Dallas not because the Heat beat my bulls no we simply lost to a better team. I do think some fouls were pretty weird. But in the end we didn’t perform and we only had one persistent player Boozer disappointed a whole load. I really liked watching deng but he wasn’t consistent. Heat simply knew how to handle Rose. And the problem with the Bulls needing another scorer was known al season long thats why we got Boozer and Heat beat us at our biggest strenght defense and that simply proved Heat were a better team. I really hate the fact that Haslem and Miller came back from injuries not because i hate them and not because they played bad(cause they frankly didn’t) i hate it because our bench was our strenght and the big three were already to big a handfull. And now they ame and crushed us from the bench and took ur dreams away( way too evil). The Heat were simply better.

Now that the mavs got this far i’ve been thinking why did nobody including me think that they wouldn’t make it this far. I had three reason first of all everybody knows how good Phil Jakcson is t getting threepeats never underestimate that. Second nobody thought that they could recover from the traumatizing 06 finals. Off course new team but two of the biggest stars the jet and dirk had experienced it. This finals is to me the best imaginable even though i’m gonna get really happy to see finals between the bulls an OKC in the future i think they both learned ad the bulls need more players okc have more stars Westbrook, Durant and Harden a terrifying trio( hopefully a new big three, just joking but not a bad idea right).

These two teams( mavs and heat) both have advantages and i would love it to become a seven game series. Much respect for BRON BRON he just wanna win he is no moral role model or anything he just wanna be remembered and you get remembered for championships. Not disrespecting Stockton or Barekeley or anything they sure are remembered. But i stille want the mavs to win none of them have a ring not even the coachs won.

And to all those people who keep talking about one of these teams sweeping the other or even trying to guess the results i only say u dont decide the outcome the players do on the court. And last to all of those people who say Lebron should be the MVP surely dont uderstand what MVP stands for . He deserved the award in cleveland not anymore because he’s on a team thats too good for that he has so many other players that hes gotta play like crazy to get the award. But he arguably the best player right now.

  99. tama-na says:

Interesting series… I am rooting for MAVs on this one, but i think Miami has the advantage.

MAVS are known for offense, but Miamican match it with their defense. I wonder how Dirk will react to LBJ (probably Anthony’s or Z’s) defense. If you look the other way around, I’m hoping Matrix can somehow stop LBJ, or Jkidd can stop Dwade.

Anyway, for one-on-one match-up, I’d give it to Miami (simply because of Wade & Lebron). For team match-up, I’d give it to Dallas (simply because of Jkidd, Matrix & Barrea).

If all stars are aligned, expect good games from:
    – Dirk, Jkidd & Marion
    – Bosh, Wade & Lebron

    Xfactors:
    – Barrea, Chandler & Peja
    – Chandler, Haslem, Anthony & Jones or Z (if he’s playing)

  100. Chad says:

    Dallas in 5!

Miami can only win if they can limit Dallas to below 90 points.. or if they get at least one not-James/Wade/Bosh guy scores more than 10 points.

Miami’s ball game really sucks! With the lineup they got, they should be averaging at least 15 points above their opponents had they only make good use of their players!

  101. L.Webb says:

I personally say ,and seriously think that the MAVS,can SWEEP the heat. All you have to do is look at what they did to those world champion lakers. The Mavs are fully capable. Am I delusional!!! ,
    A MAVS FAN

  102. ShaSha says:

Miami big adventage is speed. The Mavs are old and slow and all the heat players can “burn” the floor.
Mavs only chance is playing the half court game.
Miami should play like the 80′s Lakers, where LBJ playing Magic,Wade plays Worty, and Miller plays Kupper.
    Run and run heat.

  103. MAVS REVENGE says:

As much as I like the heat I can’t help but say the Mavs will win. They deserve it more than Miami. They’ve been practicing for FIVE Years and then James and Bosh just come up and say “We’ll Win”

    • Mr. eleven says:

IT’S LIKE ALL TEAM BESIDE YOUR MAVERICKS ARE NOT PRACTICING AFTER ALL…LOL YO KID, HERE DRINK SOME MORE MILK…

  104. pacman says:

if not for owner of the mavs, i would love to win the Mavericks! a nos of their players deserves to win a title,,, kid, nowitzki, marion….. but since the mavs is owned by cuban! go heat! win the championship!

  105. lilh35 says:

after watching all the heat series it is clear to me that the nba wants the heat to win look at all the cheap foul calls and freethrows. no other teams get the calls when they play the heat and lebron if wins a ring now with the heat he still can’t compare to jordan or kobe. he is just d-wades sidekick. d-wade is even a step above lebron.

  106. Rafael says:

And the Miami DREAMERS are everywhere. You may have 3 superstars but we have our Dirk Nowitzki who did not give up on the Dallas Mavericks. The 2011 finals is a rematch of 2006 but NOT A REPEAT of it. MAVS in 4! GO MAVS GO!

    • Tenki says:

Wow. It’s as if you have three Dirks in Dallas to go against the Big Three.

    • Usuck says:

I think the excuse of this Dallas fans if Miami wins this series is
Because Dallas have only 1 scorer blah blah blah
      or only 1 superstar??? lol

  107. bonikLBJ. says:

there are many reason why the MAVS should win but the HEAT, 5 reasons only.

    1. LBJ and coach ESpo has something to prove.
    2. Heat’s DEFENSE
    3. PRIDE of the HEAT’s BENCH.
    4. DWade and LBJ’s will to win.
    5. MIAMI HEAT fans!

every series that the HEAT goes into feels like against all odds.. even though they already had proven something esp. LBJ, yet he is critized. stop it HATERS, you are all just scared of miami so you are putting so much excuses.

  108. Can't take theHEAT says:

The heat are the 2011 NBA champions. Why? Well they are the most confident team in the NBA. They projected 5 titles this summer. They had a rough start and turned the switch on asap. They failed to close in so many games and finished with the 2 seed. They shutdown the 76ers 4-1 with 1 loss coming with failure of closing, again. Then they shutdown the Celtics 4-1 with successful closings and the one loss was a mental breakdown. Then they took on the bulls without home court and had a mental breakdown. then they won 2 grind out fourth quarter games and the next 2 last possession games all succeeding in the clutch. Now the finals. No one thought they would be in the finals. No one thought they would be clutch. No one thought they couldn’t do it without a good bench. no one thought LBJ and D-Wade could play together. No one thought they could get pasted the bulls or Celtics. No one thought it would be Heat vs Mavs. These two teams in the season, well its been all Mavs since ’04. But in ’06 the heat took that aside and won the Finals in comeback fashion. Are the heat ready to prove the skeptics? Yes. They’ve done it before and they’ll do it again.

    • Mr. eleven says:

      100% AGREE. GO HEAT!!!

    • HeatWave says:

Agree but let me add that the Heat will win becasue they already know Dallas’s game. Not to mention take out Butler who was present for their two wins regular season, add in Bibby, Haslem and Miller for Miami who were not and well you can do the math to see who’ll have the upper hand.

  109. Patrick says:

Marion is funny to watch, there is only one shawn marion’style in all N.B.A…His special execution at free throw, nobody can shoot this way, except Nowistski may be in a very critical situation, but Marion is an amazing player, he helps the team, and sometimes more than helping. I hope he will find the bucket over 60%.

  110. rose says:

GO Mavs go sweep the Heat. 4-0 i want to see heat cry again. hahaha, cry baby

    • Mr. eleven says:

YEAH JUST LIKE AS WE HEAT FAN WANTED TO SEE YOU CRY IF YOU LOSE THE SERIES. OPS HERES MY TISSUE DARLING, JUST IN CASE.

    • Usuck says:

@rose you were the One crying after the BULLS Lost
      just CRY LOSER.. lol

  111. bull4ever says:

hmm…the only x-factor is mr. stern…..just ask peja stojakovic….remember the conference finals kings vs. lakers in 2002?
and i think DiNo, Kidd are deserving the ring.
the heat, bulls, thunder etc. are going to battle the next years for the ring.

  112. Mavs 2011 says:

well,Im a fan of the mavs , is true that Dirk,Kidd and Terry deserves a ring but i won t be easy.THAT ONE GO TO THE HEAT FANS ,YOU DON´T HAVE A TEAM YOU HAVE ONLY THREE PEOPLE AND THATS NO ENOUGH.

    • Mr. eleven says:

YEAH JUST LIKE WHAT THE BOSTON AND BULLS FAN, LEBRON-WADE-BOSH IS NOT ENOUGH TO BEAT THEM? SO WHAT HAPPENED??? LOL DONT JUST WATCH YOUR STUPID MAVS IN NBA, WATCH THE HEAT AS THEY DOMINATE THE BOSTON AND BULLS AND AS THEY WILL DOMINATE YOUR DALLAS TEAM. IT WILL BE FUNNY IF THE HEAT CELEBRATE IT IN YOUR HOMECOURT, WATCH IT! GO HEAT BURN ALL THE HEAT TEAM AND FANS!

    • HeatWave says:

      Lebron 2x MVP check
Wade – Champion and finals MVP check
Bosh – 3rd all star on roster check
Haslem – hype man and solid rebounder Champion check
Miller – three point threat, solid rebounder check
      Bibby – veteran guard check
Chalmers – solid backup guard check
Joel Anthony – best shot blocker in this series check
James Jones – three point champion check
Big Z – Seven footer who can shot mid range check

Looks like a pretty damn good team to me.

    • Tenki says:

Miami fans only have three people against your team? If that’s what you call it, witness how three people demolish your team in six games then.

  113. TORTULGA says:

MIAMI HEAT 4 VS DALLAS MAVERICKS 3 I THINK

  114. Kobleed says:

So the MAVS are hungrier? So why Lebron and Bosh teamed with Wade? To get a RING right? So the Mavs beat the Heat last season 0-2? So they’ll gonna win this series also? Good point, that’s what the Bulls and Celtics thought so too. So the Mavs are the best cause they defeated the Lakers? The Heat are 2-0 against the Lakers last season. So the Heat doesn’t have the height advantage? Just ask the Lakers how they were beaten by the Heat 2-0 without that so called “height advantage.” So Marion will guard James. Can he keep up with him and not commit fouls? So who’ll guard Lebron next? Cuban? So Kidd/Barrea will score more than Chalmers/Bibby? Well,ok! So Jones ain’t that good 3 pointer like Peja/Terry? Well, I guess that’s not Jones who won the 3 point shoot out, it must be Ray Allen I guess. So Chandler can out rebound Miller/Haslem or How about James/Wade??? Well MAY BE. So Dirk will be scoring 40+ points a game cause he did that twice in the Mavs-OKC matchup? So its safe to say Bosh will score 30+ points per game, he did that also twice in the Bulls-Heat matchup. So the Mavs are a better road team? Well they should be! They got beaten by OKC in game 2 but that’s not the point. The sad part is the Heat are undefeated at home. So the Mavs bench scores 30+ pts than the Heat’s bench with just 17pts per game? So why the Mavs wins aren’t blown up games? If their bench is scoring like that combined with their starters, it should be. Which means they really need that push from their bench, right? Unlike Miami, they are living with it.. it can be 17pts , 15, 14pts..a good point ey?

For me here are the key factors in this series. If the Mavs wins one game of the first two games (either game 1 or game 2) most likely, they’ll win it in whatever game it will be, what’s important is being the winner right? But if the Heat wins the first two games and going to Dallas 2-0, then its a wrap. Heat will win this series. That’s it folks.
    Good Luck Miami. God Bless.

  115. Mavsfan#3000000 says:

Mavs 10-0 Heat in last 5 years, 2-0 this season and heat think they stand a chance to win a game? Mavs will cut them down to size. Write it down:
    Mavs in 4.
Game 1: Mavs 101-95 Heat (Dirk 43, Barea 23, Kidd tripple double)
Game 2: Mavs 113-95 Heat (James fouled out in 4th quarter)
    Game 3: Heat 82-98 Mavs (Dirk 31, Marion 24, Terry 5-5 3pt FT)
Game 4: Heat 105-109 Mavs (In OT….. Dirk, Kidd, Terry and LeBron James all cry except James looks like a chimp)

    • Tenki says:

Miami never won against Dallas because this will make it all the more sweeter. Dallas can’t win when it matters most.

By the way, did your Dallas team earn a championship after all those wins you posted? Whatever you got there, maybe it’s good stuff. Share it please.

      • HeatWave says:

Tenki this guy didn’t even deserve a response. But I guess you have a heart for the mentally challenged.

    • Usuck says:

hey Mavsfan#3000000 maybe that’s the effect of the DOPES your taking.. LOL

  116. Moe Heat 4 Ya says:

I really have to quote this line from Fast and the Furious 1 by Dom (Vin Diesel) “It doesn’t matter if you win by an inch or a mile… winning is winning” and from an Olympic game commercial where the weightlifting athlete only placed second, “You do not win silver but you loose the gold.” Players are fueled by their motivation, point towards a direction that will lead them to their destination that they have envisioned… Heat in 5! Scorching Hot Season!

  117. Femi Adesina says:

u know what im yet to understand is why do pple think that lebron is going to enter the conversation with the likes of jordan. do u think jordan had as much help as lebron has right now. lets analyze this real quick. bosh can give u 20+, wade can give u 20+. now mike millerr who is very underated if given decent amount of possessions can get u close to 20. the dude is a dead lock on shooter. like u know its almost as if everyone refuses to see what im looking at here. he teamed up with 2 prolific scorers in the nba, one of the best defensive guards in the game. like is he really deserving of all the compliments hes getting. steve kerr said something really interesting in game 4 of the bulls heat series. he said “earlier in lebrons career he couldn’t hit that shot and I think he can hit it now because he know he has wade and bosh to have his back so theres not as much pressure” some how we’ve managed to label him so clutch bcuz he’s hitting shots because he has help. and not the regular i have wing players that can knock down shots, we’re talkin about 2 players who cud probably fit in to top 10 in scoring in any season. I am definitely not trying to knock lebron. I think honestly he has the potential to be the second best player ever. he cudve probably reached a jordan status but the ultra team hes formed will diminish his statistics in comparison to jordan and i still believe jordan was literally the best scorer and player ever. at this moment he is the best player in the nba. (dont shoot me kobe fans). What im just really upset about is that when people hype up a guy as lebron has been since he’s entered, when they start to succeed the hype overexaggerates the strides and leave obvious things out.

  118. Dweezler says:

I agree with the Matrix. He’s had his head in the right place throughout the playoffs, and it looks like he still has the right mindset. We’ll see On Tuesday!

  119. L337 says:

Mavs is a humble team. I have so much respect for them. When did u see Dirk bragging about something?

  120. Nada says:

I don’t know why people keep saying this person, that person, this team, that team deserve this, deserve that…etc. So if the player are old and close to retirement then he’s deserving more!! Nonsense!! To win a ring you have to earn it through sacrifice and hardwork (and maybe a little luck). There are many teams and players who work hard and want to win. It’s a lot of hard work and effort. This year final is extremely fun to watch! may the best team win..

  121. Bertox says:

I hope nobody on either team gets hurt. I’m a long-suffering Mavericks fan, but I have big-time respect for the Heat. To say this is an exciting match-up is a gross understatement. I can’t wait for Tuesday! BEAT THE HEAT! GO MAVS GO!!!

  122. Martin from Austria says:

To all those who are saying the Mavs will sweep the Heat: You make those two regular season wins against Miami out larger than they were, the first one was back in November when the Heat were getting used to each other. The other one in December was decided by the Mavs with just 2 points of difference. So that is the reason you think Dallas will make a sweep?
Don’t forget that this is the playoffs, where defense is most important and the regular season doesn’t matter except for positioning. You remember that the Heat also were 3-1 against the Celtics and 3-0 against the Bulls in the regular season and yet they knocked off both teams?

I am a Heatfan, but I respect both teams, and I think none of the players in these finals would not deserve a ring. But it’s insulting by Mavsfan to say that this will be an easy road for Dallas, say what you want about your team but please also respect the competitvness of the other team you are facing. Both teams went through a lot, so both are tough teams. I think this will be a hard series for both teams and I hope we, as fans, can enjoy a good series.

    • Tenki says:

Don’t worry about that guy who ticked you off, he was just playing NBA 2K11 in rookie difficulty and posted his insights here.

    • HeatWave says:

Add in the fact on those two wins that Butler was present, Bibby and Haslem weren’t, Miller was recovering. Yeah Mav fans are getting ahead of themselves.

  123. biebs says:

folks the reason why people are loving the dallas mavericks is their attitude and what they have been through to get to the finals. they worked hard for their chance at the trophy. they traded players in order to get players.
miami on the other hand is a disgrace. lebron is a disgrace. what he pulled in cleveland is just not acceptable. he left that town with nothing but his crap. him and bosh signing in the miami heat demonstrates selfishness. they are young they have a lot of time left in the league.
to people who compared miami with boston’s framework, i will tell you that yes, they have the same framework but the path they took to get there is quite different. garnett was traded and allen was also traded. and you have to give them the chance to win together cause they are old.

  124. w/o Butler No title says:

Without a Caron Butler I as much as I want to see the Mavs winning, I think its an unrealistic goal. Lebron,Wade will wear out the seasoned Mavericks. Nowitizki will have to average 35-40 ppg. But where do the Mavs go when Nowitzki is played well and shut down? Terry? Marion? Kidd? I don’t thinks so neither one of them can create there own shot against the stellar Miami defence lately. Miami shut Rose down and the bulls fell down with him. The Mavs are no different in that regard without Butler who can create his own shot. I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think I will be.

    • Tenki says:

Finally someone whose insight is most meaningful! Man, I tell you it’s not going Dallas’ way. It’s true that Miami doesn’t have a point guard and a center against Chandler and Kidd, but once the Riley Five (Wade, James, Miller, Haslem, Bosh) is together at the same time (with James as a 6’8, 280-pound shooting guard), it’s all about versatility and sheer firepower. This unit is both heaven and hell in both ends of the floor.

    • HeatWave says:

Haha glad someone else sees this. Miami was beaten by Dallas with Butler and without Haslem, Miller(essentially) and Bibby in the lineup. It’s still anyone’s series but the Mav fans are saying it’s just the Miami 3 vs Dallas as a team with no hope against Dirk. Well believe what you all want but Bulls said the same thing.

  125. karibkween says:

Here’s hoping he is more defensive minded than he was when he played for the Heat. His stint with the Heat was short lived because he was defensively challenged. The Miami Heat since Riley arrived has been a defense first organization.
Those who point to the sweep of the Lakers, I say the Hornets were a “D.West’s offense” short of doing the same thing in the first round, and very well could have been the WCC, but a large part of an NBA season is luck.

I also cannot understand why the so called experts are calling Dirk the best player in the playoffs, nor will I ever understand the Bird comparison; Larry Bird worked and hustled his a$$ off on BOTH ENDS of the basketball court. Before we go on about Dirk’s offense lets figure out how he’s going to stop Bosh. Bosh has already proven he has enough defense to contain Dirk, can Dirk do the same?

The Heat’s defense is relentless, both Lebron and Wade are on All NBA defensive teams, it’s why they’re winning, and its why all the greats have won championships, they play both ends of the court.

  126. timmy jim says:

oh yeah!!!!!!!!!! Dirk is gonna get his first ring!!
what an easy series for the mavs and cuban ;)
    better luck next year miami

  127. Johnku says:

It will be an exciting series. I hope MAVS win. ( I know they can) They’ve worked for it for more that 5 years. And now they prove it defeating defending champ LAKERS. It’s time for them to shine. GO MAVS!beat HEAT! I can say.. they can now be the new RIVALS!!

  128. Victor says:

I want Dirk and Mavs to win the ring vs heat this year I think they got what it takes to get revenge on Miami Heat and take home the NBA title.

  129. TREBLIG says:

I WANT KIDD AND DIRK A RING, BUT I WANT MIAMI TO WIN TO SHUT DOWN CHARLES BARKLEY, THE NUMBER ONE WHO INSULT MIAMI TEAM, MOSTLY IN LEBRON……………..

  130. tommie says:

D-Wade and King James S*CKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wish Mavs could repeat what they’ve done to Kobe and the Lakers (4-0)

  131. bonikLBJ. says:

why does everybody think that the MAVS will sweep the HEAT? even you say they swept the lakers and dominate the thunder, yet there are weaknesses, i think the reason why the MAVS bench is doing good, is because there starters are not, except DIRK and KIDD, analyze that. so look at the lineup of the MAVS in the fourth, DIRK with the bench. plus kidd, sometimes marion when he is too lucky! haha. LOL!

  132. bonikLBJ. says:

underestimate miami HEAT, this will kill your MAVS, PRIDE and OVER-CONFIDENCE, i promise.

  133. bonikLBJ. says:

BOOZER is not a good defender, but over DIRK, boozer is much better, i think the XFACTOR is Bosh, he is out to prove something, and im glad its against dirk. analyze it mavs.

  134. Martin from Austria says:

    Let’s go Miami Heat

  135. Matt says:

I just think Dallas is a little too deep for the Heat. I dislike the Heat, sure, and its not cause the lebron thing, i never liked the heat. but anyways. i wish dirk would get a ring.

  136. LA AC says:

Whoever wins the Terry-Peja-Miller-James Jones 3-point shootout will win this series.

  137. BIG 3 MIAMI says:

    GO HEATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

  138. Christopher Taylor says:

People don’t realize Nowiiski can drop 35 a game and the mavs still lose. The only way I see the Mavs winning this series is if they light it up from 3 point land otherwise it’s just not gonna happen. The big 3 are in the game for all but 6 minutes and the other players that share the court with them may not be stars but all contribute to the team when they’re on the court Bibby, Chalmers, Miller draw the defense away from the basket with their 3 pt potential while Haslem and Anthony grab boards and play D.

  139. George says:

I just hope the referees don’t play a big part in the series, for either side. I just want to see two skilled teams go at it, and hopefully the best team will win.

  140. best nba season says:

first off the only reason the heat reached the nba finals is because the eastern conference weak..they played philli in the first round while dallas played Portland and , they played the celtics who were injured while the mavs played the full healthy defending champs..miami then beat the bulls who only have one star in derrick rose he defending them wasnt that hard..while the mavs hadd to play against two athletic young stars..yall stop kiddin your selves im a lebron fan..but its the mavs in 5!

  141. Ken says:

Dallas in four!! Hands down!! If you put good D on the Miami 3, they can’t sCore. They will cry and pout like children and take the as_kicking they have coming.

  142. Truthbetold says:

Heard everything about critics and fans before.. From the Big 3 will not work, Lebron chokes, Miami wont win any playoffs game, they will be swept by celtics chicago blah blah blah. Now Dallas will sweep Miami in 4. haha! Miami winning the finals will be so much sweeter coz many are against them. Bosh will play great coz he has something to prove. Heck James will play fantastic because out of the big three he has the greatest burden of carrying this team because of his decision. Wade?? he plays great all the time. They say who will guard Nowtizki. well there is Haslem, Bosh or Anthony. even lebron james. But who will guard wade and james?? terry? kidd? marion? stevenson? I can see chandler as a threat but who else??? Also Dallas having greater bench? lets see barea, stojakovich, haywood. against miller haslem chalmers jones. who has the greater bench again??
Dallas in four. seriously if you are a basketball fan who plays basketball as well knows matchups and defense. who has great defense normally wins the game. To say Dallas will sweep miami is ignorant as well as miami will sweep dallas. I say Miami in 6.

  143. Bersem79 says:

Guys you can think and write what you want … I’m not a great fan of the Mavs as I’m certainly not a fan of the Heat…
    But…
I’m a huge fan of Jason Kidd, who’s probably one of the best PG of the NBA history (if not the best one !) : some of you could say there’s also Stockton … but without Malone Stockton was just a really good player … The Nets (!) reached twice the Finals with Kidd… According to me, Kidd deserves the most a ring for his entire carreer, both with Dirk and Shawn Marion…and don’t forget Peja !
They wil face a huge squad and they’ll have to stop big (and young) stars… Chandler will have to stay quiet cool in defense (not in foul trouble in fact) if the Mavs want to stay effective in defense… in the paint ! Because at the wings I can’t say how it will be… Who will (try to) contain Wade and James ? Kidd on Wade + Stevenson and Terry ? Marion on James (why not ? Marion is quiet a good defender but King James is … King James) Who else ? Peja ?
Just want the Mavs being champs for the indivual careers of their players… and I’m sure those guys are more hungry than the Heat !
Go Kidd ! Go Dirk ! Go Shawn ! Go Peja ! And don’t forget Jason, Tyson, JJ, Brendan, Deshawn and the other guys !

    Greetings from Belgium

    Bertrand

  144. sellva says:

yes, Marion is really hungry as well kidd!

all the best for Dallas Mav.

  145. Ice Pogi says:

Let’s Just Wait until someone raise that trophy up…

What ever happens … Still a HEAT FAN….

  146. kevin garnett21 says:

The Bulls would have won if they had played Brian Scalibrine. He was the real Mvp.

  147. MFFL says:

Like Barkley said, “the stuff that worked for miami against the bulls isn’t gonna work against the mavs. Miami is not facing a team that is offensively challenged anymore. Dallas is gonna score.” The mavs have the best bench in the NBA. Everyone is saying the Heat have 3 superstars…..well the mavs 4th, 5th and 6th best players can easily score 20pts or more. Dirk has been ridirkulous, and is capable of 40 pts a game. Dirk is playing his best, Kidd is playing amazing, Marion, JET, Chandler, JJ. the list goes on… THE ONLY WAY HISTORY WILL REPEAT ITSELF IS IF THE REFS ARE JUST AS GOD AWFUL. miami fans talk crap, but really go back and look how close the games were, calls were being made on dirk fouling Wade, when you see the replays you realize dirk wasn’t even touching him. Refs aside, 2006 was a different year. The Mavs are a better Team now. They are more experienced, more mature in their game. Mavs are gonna beat the Heat in 6 at home. Revenge is only a few days away.

    • GMan says:

Why do you sound so bitter , Fans choose to support their team , so “Maimi fans talk crap” .. I feel pity when you use the Ref’s to make excuse.
I live in the Caribbean and have been a Heat fan apox 10 yrs now , and travel from Trinidad (caribbean), to Maimi,
at lease twice a yr to watch Heat games , so I am proud to say I AM A HEAT FAN

  148. Egatangan says:

Hey guys! Have you seen the record since Dallas lost in 2006 Finals.

    Heat is 0-10 record! Win-loss

The record shows that Dallas want this team(Heat) burn in the kitchen.

Dallas is really unstoppable to win this series!

Dallas in 4. Sweep the Heat!

    gogogogogo

  149. querke-29 says:

mavs & heat deserves a ring;only those who have the best tactics deserves a ring.May the best team win…God bless all you Guys.

  150. querke-29 says:

    God bless you all Guys..

  151. bigboy11 says:

back with the same excuses, blame the refs in 2006 Dallas was up 2-0 no one was blaming the refs but as soon as you all got run over by Wade it’s the refs
