Miami’s New York State Of Mind

HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS – Let the record show that on Sunday night, Feb. 27 in the year 2011, a rivalry was renewed, thanks to LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire and especially Chauncey Billups.

The Knicks and Heat could be the NBA blood feud many of us have been waiting for since … the Knicks and Heat of yesteryear. And believe me folks, that is a good thing.

If you don’t think the Knicks are on the minds of Heat fans today, you obviously didn’t watch the playoff preview game they played Sunday night in Miami. For all of the superlative performances on display, most notably the defensive effort by Anthony and Stoudemire (above), the work Billups did during clutch time is what really stood out to us here at the hideout.

He didn’t earn the name “Mr. Big Shot” without merit.

His go-ahead 3-pointer from South Beach with a minute to play was the icing on a brilliant night for Billups, who scored just 16 points but seemed to do get them at all the right times.

“The bigger the game, the bigger the stage, the bigger they play,” Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni said after the game.

But who knew the Knicks’ defense would be the clincher?

They are not supposed to be a defensive-minded bunch. Yet there they were, both Anthony and Stoudemire, combining on the stop of James with the game on the line late. If this is what we have to look forward to in a potential playoff series (this season or beyond) from these two teams, we’ll take it.

As far as a clear-cut advantage, we disagree that the Heat will have one come playoff time. Sure, they’ve been playing together for months while the new-look Knicks have only been together for an extended weekend. And the Heat’s Big 3 are certainly younger and more explosive, as a group, than the Knicks’ Big 3.

When it comes to down to winning time, though, would you really bet against Billups or Anthony or even Stoudemire? They’ve all guided, or at least co-piloted, teams deep into the playoffs. All three have taken teams to the conference finals and Billups has a championship and Finals MVP in his trophy case, just like Wade.

If anything, Bosh is the odd man out when it comes to the playoff experience factor that will be so crucial in the postseason. And that confidence the Heat have used to demolish lesser opponents this season, the Knicks’ Big 3 possess that quality as well.

“We’ve got some really clutch players on this team,” Billups told reporters after Sunday’s game. “If it comes down to the last two, three minutes, we feel like we have the advantage.”

He will get no argument here!

It was nice to see Chauncey play a huge role for NY after the media disrespected him while covering the “Melo trade”.

Young fans, Heat – Knicks is a rivalry. Van Gundy hanging on Alonzo’s leg. Youtube it. Nuff’ said.

    • yeah what exactly what that all about. When i first read about the trade i thought billups wasnt included. i mean all resoect to Gali, Chandler an RayF, but Melo is franchise player. everybody is talking about the Perkins trade as the most valuable and i do agree it is long-term, but short-term the Knicks struck gold. they improved at two positions and know have a trio, that in my opnion can match Miami because 1. they lack at pointguard and 2. Amare is gonna tear Big Z and Anthony a new one if they clash in the playoffs.

LBJ is MORE clutch than Kobe, sorry haters.

      • LBJwillHaveAriNgwHenKOBEretires says:

What??? Have you lost your mind??? c’mon now.. LeBRICK? more clutch than Kobe? In the first place LBJ has been known to be the self proclaimed “King with NO RING’ is because he can’t take make big shots, usually he passes it or turns it over .. Last game against the Knicks? 3 point shot? “BRICK” So better used your brain sometimes OK…

  2. Rein says:

to heat, a piece of advice.. stop letting lebrick have the ball and take the shot on clutch time. seriously he aint mr clutch.

    • LAKERS 2011 - 3PEAT says:

yea i didnt think his final shot for the tie was good at all….give it to wade plz!

      • LOL says:

Good at all?? yea ok…that was a FOUL on Melo ALL DAY lol..any IDIOT could see that YES he hit the ball FIRST, but like most other players they cant get the ball out of LBJ’s hands that way, it stayed there, and Melos arm come STRAIGHT across Brons arm the second time. ANYone could see that. RIDICULOUS no call. Sure you let em play on the last play, and if it was just the ball hit and a bump or a lil shove thats different, but you DONT let HACKS go.

But thats ok. EVERYone is forgetting that we get Haslem back soon. Thats good stuff. Haslem will make our team defense EVEN better than it already is, so yall will see whatsup at end of regular season and the playoffs. Either way it doesnt matter. Heat still proved they can play with the Knicks and beat them. Its a close game that could’ve EASILY went to the Heat, if at least for the bad no call on Melo. Also no Big Z playin. Oh well, no big deal. Life goes on and we know we got Haslem back in 3 to 5 weeks.

All these posts about LeBron not being clutch. Yes, he missed, but he was the 3rd best option on the floor. Miller & House were the 2 best options because of their amazing long range shooting ability. Not only has Dwyane Wade missed his share of last minute shots this season, but he’s a poor long range shooter. Always has been. Besides, Dwyane Wade had a bad game shooting the ball. LeBron was 10 for 19 before that 3 pt attempt. Wade? 5 for 15. He couldn’t buy a bucket on certain occasions. LeBron & Bosh kept the Heat in this game. When you’ve got 3 superstars on your team, you leave the last shot to the superstar that’s got the hot hand. James, Wade & Bosh are all capable of making the 3pt shot, although it isn’t a very high percentage shot. But LeBron has proven all year that he is the best long range shooter of the Big 3 (34%). I would have liked to see him draw the defense in & kick it out to one of the pure shooters. Unfortunately, he did try to go Jordan mode lol He isn’t “Mr. Clutch”, but he’s been the Heat’s best player all year. I say he’s earned the right to take that shot. Hopefully, he works on it a lot more. They might need some game winners with the schedule they’ve got coming up.

        @lol

1)It wasn’t a foul that would get called at that time in those circumstances by anyone. I’m not even convinced its a foul of any sort.
2)LBJ Isn’t clutch, has never been clutch, will never be clutch. He’s a good player but if you want someone to make a 3 pointer in the dying seconds look elsewhere.
3)The Heat got beaten by the Knicks. Thats what happened deal with it. When Miami won at Xmas it was a very different Knicks team. Right now the Knicks have shown they can keep it close and if it comes down to the final couple of minutes they have plenty of players who can make big shots at big times. So come the playoffs there could easily be an upset.
4)No one cares about Haslem. Not his teammates, and certainly not the Knicks he wouldn’t of made any difference at all to the result.
5)Please learn English, you sound like a 5 year old and its not helping your case any. Oh and just because you put something in caps doesn’t suddenly make it true, or even intelligent. When you type your, no doubt witty and insightful, response try something new like punctuating correctly and not feeling you have to shout every fifth word. You might want to buy this thing called a dictionary first though. It’s this big book full of words, it tells you what they mean and how they are spelt. You might find it quite enlightening (you’ll find that word under e probably between enlarger and enlist.)

@LOL: Men is LeBRICK, the KING WITH NO RINGS(that became a QUEEN of Dwayne) the only player you have ever seen your entire life? • DBBJ says:

I FEEL YOU MAN, LBJ IS MY MAN AND ALL, BUT HE AIN’T SUPPOSE TO TAKE THE LAST SHOT SPECIALLY IF IT IS A 3-POINTER, IF IS A DRIVE TO THE BASKET THEN GIVE HIM THE BALL, BUT NOT 3 POINT SHOT. BUT HONESTLY WADE GOTTA STEP UP AND TAKE RESPONSABILITY, HE SUPPOSE TO TELL LEBRON AND SPOELSTRA THAT HE IS THE ONE TO TAKE THAT SHOT, IF THEY CANT GET THE BALL TO HIM THEM LBJ WOULD BE THE 2ND OPTION.

      • hill324 says:

come on now…sometimes the other team just plays great defense

      • Gary says:

Yeah as a storng Lebron James fan I have to agree. He is a go to man for the drive or inside shot but not before Wade or one of the three shooters. Still Wade that game was not shooting well, but the three point attempt should have went to Miller. Lastly in defense of Lebron he has made game saving threes but still I feel what your saying.

      • Joey3 says:

I agree bro, Wade needs to step up and take that shot

      • Law064 says:

@GM I have to agree no foul just another choke up by Lechoke, WTF why don’t Wade shoot the last shot? @LBJwillhave…etc lol you krazy man. @lol man the heat with Haslim is not going to make a differance the Heat can’t beat Boston. The heat fans are bigger crybabies than the cav’s fans get over it and STFU a loss is a loss. Good game from Melo and the Knicks. @lol Lebron is far from clutch, he has skills and is a great player but he’s not a CLUTCH player so please stop sayin he is!! @Lakers 2011-3peat Wuz good with it fam I’m with you give the ball to Wade or even Mike Miller over Lebron come on dude is a Choker seriously. He’s no Kobe or No Wade in the final seconds Lechoke seems to freeze up down the stretch.

wade should take the last shot!

    • 718ufo says:

Are ya’ll being serious? Wade shoot a 3 pointer over LeBron? DWade is HORRIBLE with 3s especially compared to LeBron, plus LeBron isn’t clutch? Get off nba.com and never come back please.

      • QuestionMark says:

Wade isnt a good 3pt shooter but he is more clutch than Lebron, either Wade hits the winner, or Lebron and Wade use their passing to find House or Miller, if there is enough time.

      • FanOfTheLeague says:

I agree. If I was Spoelstra & my team was down by 2, James & Wade (either one, I don’t care) will have the ball in their hands. If we’re down by 3, they will still have the ball in their hands, but it will be to suck the defense in the lane & kick it out to one of the shooters. As for who’s better in the clutch from 3, everyone needs to get one thing straight, LeBron is better from 3-pt. land in ANY situation than Dwyane Wade. If it’s a 2 pt ball game, either player can make the play. But LeBron has hit plenty of game winners from long range & has proven to be a better shooter than Wade. Anyone that doesn’t think LeBron is clutch? Ask Kobe Bryant, Brandon Roy, Dwight Howard, Gilbert Arenas, the entire Pistons squad, the entire Golden State squad & whoever else he’s burned in the final seconds of a game whether or not that’s true. He’s sealed the deal with last second shots against the best of ‘em.

    • billy g says:

yea lebroom sucks give the ball 2 d wade he is the best player in the team. and he is deadly when it comes 2 clutch time. plus he is averaging 7 pts in the 4th quarter the best in the league. people need 2 stop believing that lbron is better the truth is d wade can do everthing lebron does better. the only reason lebron is averaging more points and assists is because he is holding the ball most of the time. the only person that might be better than d wade is kobe who is getting older pretty soon d wade will be the best player in the nba.

      • FanOfTheLeague says:

The fact that LeBron has the ball in his hands most of the time is not a coincedence. Wade is just as good a scorer as anybody in the league, but he is not the best overrall player on this year’s Heat team. & the logic that Wade doesn’t get the numbers LeBron gets because of how much LeBron has the ball isn’t a good argument anyway. LeBron has ALWAYS had better numbers than Wade. It hasn’t changed now that they’re on the same team & that isn’t too surprising. LeBron is just as good a scorer, better passer, better rebounder (although Wade is a great rebounder at the guard position) better outside shooter, better free-throw shooter (this season), and is the main reason why the Heat have won 43 games at this point in the season. The drastic changes in records (Miami, Cleveland) is no coincedence either. LeBron may have missed his last 2 clutch shot attempts, but he is the most effective player the Heat have. He’s also very consistent (one thing Wade has been lacking). I can recall a game this season where Wade scored just 3 points (1-13 FG) (1-5 FT) in 38 minutes. That right there is not gonna cut it. He’s had many games like that this season, this game included. Dwyane Wade destroys the under .500 teams, but struggles against the above .500 teams. Whereas LeBron puts up numbers against anybody, ESPECIALLY against the upper echelon teams. (26.5 against elite teams). Let’s not forget D. Wade got a chance to give the Heat some life as he took the final 3 point shot against the Bulls, right after LeBron missed. Dwyane Wade missed as well.

      • MikeFromOz says:

This probably wouldn’t have been a big issue if D-Wade was playing D-efnce!
Against the Bulls Bron had Rose covered and D-Wade left Deng wide open for the 3 ball and this game doesn’t matter how far Billups was behind the arc Wade should’ve been all over him I mean he is Mr Big shot

      • Joey3 says:

@FanOfTheLeague, I disagree with u, Wade has hit plenty of clutch 3 ptrs. at end of games…James has not, James can keep u in the game by helping lead from the start but Wade is the clutch performer on the heat

      • FanOfTheLeague says:

@Joey3 I never said Wade isn’t clutch. Wade has proven plenty of times that he can take over late in games, but he still is not the best overall player on the Heat roster & he’s definitely not the most consistent. & to say that LeBron hasn’t won his share of games whether it be a 3 pointer or a high percentage layup/dunk is just very ignorant, honestly. I have seen LeBron win time & time again in the final seconds in the past. Besides, LeBron deferred a whole lot to D. Wade earlier in the season & what happened? The Heat went 9-8. LeBron’s numbers are increasing with each passing month & so is the Heat’s record. So much talk on LeBron, yet Wade hasn’t been clutch the past few games either. He blew the game in Chicago before LeBron even took the shot. Derrick Rose is probably the hardest guy to keep in front of you, yet LeBron took on that challange & stuck with D. Rose. What did Wade do? He came over to give LeBron help that he didn’t need, knowing that D. Rose has incredible court vision & gave up an uncontested 3 to Luol Deng, who was already on fire in the 4th. I would be satisfied if Wade took the last shot, don’t get me wrong, but in this Knicks game’s case? from 3? not him, not LeBron, not Bosh. Miller (who was 3-5 from 3pt) would’ve been my pick for that last shot. Wade has made a number of key mistakes throughout the season. He wants to prove he’s still clutch? Forget clutch, how’s about he actually shows up against the top teams & stop being so inconsistent, so they wouldn’t be in this position in the 1st place. I know that those nagging injuries are affecting him, but he’s been able to play 7 seasons with these on-going injuries, he can’t just have bad games against teams they have to get through in the post-season. I’m just sayin’ if you’re going to criticize LeBron so much, please don’t be so biased, because if anything, LeBron had the best game of the 3 & he’s also having the best year of the 3.

lebron is as good or even better than wad ewhen it comes to 3 point shooting…besides….its just one game….. i doubt knicks are going ot get anywhere in the post season…..

  3. trix says:

When the knicks made this trade last year…i was one of those who didnt believe in them and thoguht they cant beat the elite like the heat. But then again i overlooked chauncey (i dont know how since im a lakers fan and he did a number on us during the 2004 finals). With chauncey in that line up, the knicks will be scary. He has the leadership to manage amare and melo and will stand his ground and will not get lost (that might have with felton if he was running the point). But the big plus is when it comes to pressure situation one can argue mr big shot is the right up there with any heat player and will be up for the challenge. This combined with the surprising the defensive ability both melo and amare showed the knicks might be pretty darn good.

      i dont know about that.

    • Gary says:

Seriously the best in the league? Maybe you havem’t watched the Bulls this year. I like the guy too but he had a good game FINALLY. I guess he must of not like Denver because it’s been a long time for me to see Billups playing with that kind of intensity. Who knows he’ll probably stay in NY.

      • MB says:

maybe you haven’t watched the nuggets this year. Cause he’s had sum big games this year believe me.

Best in the League? and im a knicks fan for years, but as far as best in the League?? this is my take.

I will not put them in order, because i can create a big mistake, but i will name the best in the league if im allowed.

        Derrick Rose
        R. Westbrook (#0 from Thunder)
        Deron Williams
        Rajon Rando
        Steve Nash
        Jason Kidd
        Chauncey Billups

        Just to name a few….

You forgot CP3 he is as good as Deron, Russell and Rose. I would say those 4 are very equal I would take any one of them.
        ROSE
        DERON
        WESTBROOK
CP3( if he could stat healthy he would be #1)
        Rondo
John Wall( may be in top 3 in a year or so)
Nash( would be higher if not on the back end of his career)
        Tony Parker
        Jason Kid
        Billups
Mo Williams( Nelson,Calderon, Curry on the same level as this guy)

The 7th time the cHEAT beat themselves against possible playoff rivals. 0-3 Boston, 0-2 Chicago, 2-2 NY. The cHEAT are soooo good that even when they lose it is because they beat themselves. So I guess they really are undefeated this year.

  6. Simday says:

The difference of the big three from the others is that they’re all offensive minded. And they’re defense is just getting worse.. Maybe 1 of them be focused on defense,, Or the others be focused on defense,, As they quote that DEFENSE is the BEST OFFENSE….

  7. Kobe Bryant says:

Well the Knicks have a great roster now, trying to acquire Chris Paul is least needed, if they should acquire players in free agency they should try good role players that will make a second unit and trust me, the Knicks would go farther than you would expect. Acquiring Chris Paul would be impractical and too expensive, they already have a perfect fit at PG with Chauncey, instead of using much money for CP3 they should go for role players.

    • LAKERS 2011 - 3PEAT says:

yea but thing about is with billups is AGE…thats why they would get CP3, becuase they will need a PG when billups decides to retire…what is he like 34 or 35 now? not much time left on him…

LeBron James may not be the best person to win the game from 3pt. land, but he’s hit many game clinching shots/layups throughout his career. He’s even nailed a jumpshot to seal the deal in Kobe’s face. To say that LeBron wasn’t the best selection to take the last shot against the Bulls & Knicks from long range is very understandable, but to say he’s not clutch is kind of ignorant lol He’s definitely not the best closer in the game (cough *Black Mamba* cough), but he’s had his share of heroics.

@Jake he has 2 lol the Orlando shot looked so lucky I mean even Lebron couldn’t believe he made the shot. He looked so shocked he mad that shot. That;s clutch? Man I’m far from a fan of Kobe but that’s clutch. someone mentioned Wade vs the pistons in 05 & 06 that was clutch. Give Wade the ball or draw the D and kick it to a open House or Miller or Jones. Lebron is Lechoke he freeze up in the final seconds

  12. mannie says:

MIAMI’s big 3 is a fluke… they can’t beat the best teams in the NBA, except for the Lakers, of course!!!

    • LakersWillWin says:

Just wait until we play Miami again… With the way we’re playing right now, they don’t have a chance. The Knicks are looking good, this was a good win for them. It proved they can hang with the big timers and will give them a lot of confidence. They have a long road ahead of them, and I will guess they can make it to the 2nd round. MAYBE. They still need time to get the chemistry right.

      • tata says:

Hopefully this was a preview of the 3-6 playoff seeds first round matchup. Hopefully the same result too.

      • LOL says:

ANYTHING can happen on ANY given night. GEE proof of this is the KNICKS JUST LOSING TO THE CAVS. LOL But sure who is gona say the Cavs are better than the Heat. UHHH NOone, thats who.

    • MikeFromOz says:

Cavs also beat the Lakers LMAO

  13. LebronJames says:

New York Knicks played well last and won but that doesn’t mean they can win a 7 game series against Miami or Boston. Miami is still # 2 in the East just 0.5 a game behind Boston. This is good for Miami they are getting a taste of whats coming at them so in the playoffs they know there opponent well enough to know where they can beat them. Lebron James, D Wade, Bosh & Miami Heat All Day Every Day!!!

    • DBBJ says:

I’MMA MIAMI FAN, BUT I REALLY GOTTA SEE THAT THEY CAN WIN IN THE PLAYOFF TO BELIEVE IT, HOPE THAT THEY REACH TO THE TOP OF THE MOUNTING BUT I GOTTA SEE IT TO BELIEVE CUZ WHAT I’VE SEEN BY NOW AIN’T ENOUGH TO BELIEVE IT.

      • LAKERS 2011 - 3PEAT says:

this is a real heat fan right here…not a damn bandwagoner who just hands them the trophy

i respect you and your comment…wish we had more ppl like you on these blogs…

      • DBBJ says:

        Thank you man!

  14. 123 says:

This was horrible game for me. I’m heat fan and last night i lost all the hope i had on the heat winning this year. Is one thing loosing to Boston or Chicago it is a completely different thing loosing a team that was put together literally last week. There is no point of denying it the heat will not win this year, they can’t bring themselves to beat the team they need to beat in the playoff.

    • Analysis says:

they just dont have the heart of winning, they are still young, they can still feel the pressure when it comes to those strong teams… They are strong and talented, but i think they cant win a championship.. because they dont have the heart.. Just like what MJ said, if u know all the basic in basketball, u still have one thing to master, “Your Heart” its the hardest one… Lebron knows how to dribble, pass and shoot, but he lack the most important one..

    • Danini says:

finally, a heat fan (non lebron-bandwagoner) with some sense

    • MikeFromOz says:

And you call yourself a Heat fan. A real Heat fan still has hope, still has faith that his or her team will rise up when the time comes. Instead your just gonna throw in towel and quit on your team. It’s way too early to give up!

  15. Zar The Knicks Fan says:

Woot! I told You Guys Weeks ago once melo back in town the rivalry or Knicks-Heat will revive again.
Yes I am One of knicks fan that didn’t like the trade. i still don’t like that trade cuz i think knicks gave up a lot
they should have kept the Center, Denver is chocking anyway they would have agree.
but i love billup in NYC. He’s great. A little Old But Great.

@vesper i love those moment but DA is not Jeff kinda coach so we won’t see those kinda moments again :( (jeff was crazy even camby had to chilled him out)

my best moment of the old rivalry was #8 knicks knocking out #1 heat. so i am hoping those kind of things happen again to NYC

    GO KNICKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. richie says:

just say what you all want to say…i bet MIAMI will change their game during POSTseason. Winning is so important were all up to that, but wins during season is not a safe when playoff comes…..GO MIAMI!!!!!

  17. Gary says:

NY beat Miami after losing to the CAVS, what does that really say besides they came in the game more fired up and hungery for the win. The Heat slacked off and lost. You can bet that it won’t happen the next time they meet.

    • LakersWillWin says:

NY beat the Heat before the trade..

      • Gary says:

And the Heat beat NY too before this at home…badly.

      • LOL says:

Really? And the Heat DESTROYED the Knicks before that LOL. We played without Big Z and Haslem. Funny how everyone forgets about him. Thats alright though his presence will be felt IMMEDIATELY when he returns in 3 to 5 weeks. LOL. Its like i said earlier too, ANYthing can happen on ANY given night, the proof is the fact that the Knicks LOST to the Cavs, the team considered easily by the majority of ANYone who knows ANYthing about the NBA to be the worst team in the league. SO yea, its funny how Heat haters always talk about their losses, but dont give em props for their wins. HOW is it people can COUNT a teams losses, but DIScount their wins? LOL A HATER thats who

ALL yall talkin on here are hatin the Heat, and you know it. Its funny how you same people say when its YOUR team losing that the regular season means nothing and playoffs are a whole new season, different ballgame, blah blah, BUT when its another team you dont like or hate, you suddenly make it so the regular season means EVERYTHING and each game you hyperanalyze and say they suck. LOL. What a JOKE of a fan most of you are.

        Pathetic.

      • Gary says:

And Miami did the same to NY but worse at Madison…

      • steve nash 4 mvp says:

why give th heat so much credit for their wins when in most of their really big games this season they have lost? thats all what people look at. why give props for beating the bobcats by 30? and then losing to the celtics?

      • MikeFromOz says:

That’s one of the problems this year for the Heat they’ve got a massive bulls-eye on they’re back. Their such a big threat that every team come’s out wanting to beat them more than any other team in the league, you can always tell how much more intensity the other team has when playing Miami than any other team. Miami need to find that intensity!

      • MikeFromOz says:

        To NASH4 MVP

If miami are beating the Bobcats, Losing to the Celtics and have only 2 losses more than the Celtics then who are the Celtics’ losing to? The Bobcats?

  18. charles says:

this ma first comment here and it comes on the heel of yesterdays beat down by the knicks. as two others before me commented the offense for miami need and must go thru D wade in clutch time. Hes very humble and wont complain until it gets pretty ugly. We have seen wade dominate and win a championship with a luckluster squad, remember 2006 finals. Now Lebron has been mvp last two yrs nobody is arguing about what a monster player he is but hes never clutch. Personally he does’nt belong in the first five when it comes to clutch time. Hes the reigning mvp but those last two years we all were looking to see lakers/kobe and cleveland/lbj matchup never happened. I have seen miami in the last two yrs go head to head against lakers with wade being the only noteable player in a heat jersey. I have read headlines like lebron is overshadowing D wade and that miami is lebrons team. It can be his like cleveland was but they not gonna win unless the last six minutes of a close game Wade becomes the facilitator and the the go to guy. LBJs numbers have always been good thats why he is mvp just like the other wkend( allstar game) but the east lost. Again lbj is a heck of a player but theres always some missing when it comes to a close game. GIVE THE BALL AND THE REIGNS TO D WADE AND HEAT WILL WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP. or keep loosing close games. Somebody needs to let them know their strengths and weaknesses and we go from there and just like theres no arguing about LBJs abilities, theres no arguing about DWADES heroics in close games. Again heats offense is better in D wades hands in any close game.

  19. A FAN says:

LOOK HERE! ALL YALL KNICK FANS ARE OVERREATING TO THIS VICTORY! THIS IS JUST ONE GAME! THE HEAT IS STILL IN THE RACE TO GET THE #1 SEED AND IF THEY LOCK THAT UP ITS A WHOLE OTHER BALL GAME BUDDY! THE HEAT ONLY HAVE ONY MAJOR CONCERN AND THATS EXECUTING IN TIGHT GAMES, ALL THESE LOSSES WILL ONLY PREPARE THEM FOR THE PLAYOFF RUN. THE HEAT ARE ONLY FOCUS ON GETTING BETTER AND WRAPPING UP HOME COURT. WHEN THE PLAYOFF COME, THEN TALK ABOUT WHO IS GOING TO WIN AND WHO CANT! DONT DOUBT THIS TEAM YET!

  20. Tom says:

people need to calm down i’m a HUGE knicks fan but saying the knicks are back because we beat the heat?…we also just lost to the cavs…not trying to hate just a reality check.

    • Tom says:

but i was still extremely happy haha just saying lets not get ahead of ourselves knicks fans…

    • Gary says:

Thank you. As a Heat fan I’m not down playing the win for the Nicks but I mentioned it also. They just lost to the Cavs so off course they were going to be fired up. Miami got cocky and lost. But the better team won and it does show that NY can contend, but I highly doubt they could beat Miami, Boston or Chicago in a series if they had to meet one of them to decided for the east.

  21. order144 says:

does anyone remember lebrons game winning layups in the playoffs or what he did to detroit, to say he isn’t clutch is ignorant, none of these cats hit every game winner, the heat have given wade those shots this yr also and he hasn’t delivered, heat haters better hope they dont figure that last shot part out, but trust, they will, if anything lebron at this point hasn’t mastered dealing with the hate, he could do no wrong for 7 yrs and now he is treated as tho he killed someone, when he gets truly comfortable its on…

  22. K says:

Disappointing, that’s all that can really be said about this Miami Heat team. As a fan to the NBA, let me be the first to say, I got caught up in all the hype of these three all-star players coming together to form this so-called superfriends team. However, after watching these players play their first sixty games together I can honesty say, this team is a very long way from being a championship caliber team. This team will continue to struggle to beat the quote, unquote; elite teams of the NBA, along as they continue to try an depend totally on their own individual skills. This team over the next two weeks will be completely exposed for how far they are from competing for an NBA chamionship. It wouldn’t be a surprise that after this next two weeks this team drops as far down as fourth in the NBA Eastern conference.

This team’s inability to hold a lead or over take a team with a lead late in a game can be traced back to the coaching staff’s inability to get LBJ and D-Wade to buy into a true half court offense. With 22 games left, this team continues to depend to heavily on LBJ or D-Wade being able to make some spectular play to pull out a victory. When this team gets a lead early in games, they get lackadaisical on both the offensive and defensive ends. On the offensive end they start playing one on one pick-up basketball. Last night the Heat gave up a 15 point lead because they went eight straight possesessions without scoring, while at the same time giving up 16 unanswered points on the defensive end. Bob McAdoo told a reporter that their team the (Heat) kept trying to dliever a knock out blow to the Knicks by continuing to bomb three point shots. The problem with that comment was that he acknowledged that the coaching staff knew what was going on and never did anything to correct it before giving up such a big lead that was capped off by Bill Walker, not Melo, Amar’e or Billups but Bill Walker hitting on a desperation shot at the buzzer to end the first half to give the Knicks the lead. This type of preformance seem to be a re-occurring theme for this Miami Heat team, when a role player or lesser player usually steps up and hits a critical shot or post a career game against Miami. These same players never have those types of games against the Bostons’, San Antonios’ or Lakers teams. Only Miami, which is further evidences that this team is not ready to compete for a championship.

    • Gary says:

You know what I’m a Heat fan and you sir…ARE ABSOLUTLY RIGHT! The coaching staff let them take about three or four straight three point attempts with the lead in hand. No attacking the basket or dribbiling in for a closer shot. As a fan I’m not going to count them out until it’s all said and done but what your saying is very true.

  23. B.B. says:

I like how the knicks stepped up and took this game in Miami. For them to win after only playing one (or two?) games together as a new team is amazing.
Billups is a great player, but if the Heat and Knicks meet in the playoffs all of my money is going on the Heat for three reasons. 1) Chauncy is great, but he can’t match up with Wade for the entire series (especially if it goes 6 or 7 games). 2) Lebron is much more consistent than Melo, since he doesn’t rely on the jumper as much. 3) Lebron seems to always have monster games in New York.
Also, I have some weird feeling that, come playoffs, Bosh is going to raise his game to the next level. Personally, I am not a fan of CB because he is too soft, but if he added some anger and toughness to his game there would be no stopping the Heat.

    • Justin says:

First off… Chauncey wouldn’t guard Wade for a full 7 game series! He’s a PG not a SG.. i’d expect the knicks to have Landry Fields guarding him before billups would. With that being said, MIAMI does not have the PG to match up against billups for a 7 game series. Correct me if im wrong but isnt Melo like 7-2 facing Lebron? And melo seems to step up his defence when playing against LBJ. Melo can score against Lebron with ease. Coming from Toronto I have seen first hand CB4′s abilities and while playing for the Raptors he was far from soft. Now he’s no KG but he definitely had some toughness and played aggressive while with the Raps. You don’t avg. 24 and 10 being the ONLY player teams need to double team on a squad like the Raptors if your “soft”. Bosh, for once, took a summer off to enjoy Miami! He came into this season looking as skinny as he had in his rookie season. Last year he looked muscular and it showed with some of the moves he would do in the post. This year he had to get in shape during the season which resulted in a poor start. Lebron more clutch then Melo…. Right! Lebron does not have killer instinct and would rather pass the ball for the final shot then take it himself. This is what separates good players from Great players! LEBRON CAN’T SHOOT! One serious injury that limits his athelticism and the King is no more… Just like McGrady!

      • DBBJ says:

LEBRON CAN’T SHOOT????? REALLY MAN??? HOW IN THE WORLD DO A PLAYER WINS THE MVP AWARD 2 STRAIGHT YRS, IS ONE OF THE BEST PLAYER IN THE NBA RIGHT NOW AND CA’NT SHOOT????? DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE TO YOU????
JUST CUZ HE AIN’T CLUTCH DOESN’T MEANS THAT HE CAN’T SHOOT

      • FanOfTheLeague says:

LeBron can’t shoot? lmfao Have you ever watched him play? If LeBron can’t shoot then Kobe Bryant is the worst closer in the NBA O_O He’s just so strong & fast at the same time that he gets himself high percentage shots (close to the rim). Have you ever watched a game where LeBron actually relied solely on his jumpshot? If they start to drop, he’ll be completely unguardable. Take the Christmas game against the Lakers for example, or that 51 point game earlier this season against Dwight & The Magic. He also completely torched the Knicks back in December. LeBron has shot a higher percentage than the “most skilled player in the NBA” (Black Mamba) from the floor & 3pt. land for the past 2-3 years. If you really believe that an injury will turn LeBron into T-Mac, you don’t watch enough basketball. LeBron does EVERYTHING. The only reason he doesn’t average 10+ assists is because he’s such a great scorer. If an injury were to affect his athleticism & ability to score, LeBron would easily become the next Magic. With Wade, Bosh & a team stacked with shooters, LeBron would focus less on scoring & average a double-double with at least 7 boards. This guy is too talented & physically gifted. Don’t let a couple of late game misses fool you lol As for him & Melo; LeBron surely can’t guard Melo one on one, but trust, that goes the same for Melo guarding Bron. Melo is 9-4 against Bron, but LeBron has put on a show everytime. Please don’t forget the 43 pt, 13 reb, 15 ast game Bron put up when Melo hit the game winner. Nobody in history has been able to put up numbers like that.

    • Rayo_Mortal says:

  26. BigShotFan says:

Knicks fan you can be sure that the best part of the trade was acquiring Billups and not Carmelo.
Melo is not a leader and never will be, while it is true he took the Nuggets for 7 consecutive years to the playoffs he was never able to make them advance the first round, until Mr. big shot came to town!
As a nuggets fan I’m happy for what we got in the deal, although we are all sad to see ‘Smooth” go to NY.
Wish you guys the best of luck this season and I hope Billups does not extend his contract with NY and come back to denver next season to end his career.

  28. FanOfTheLeague says:

Great game. I knew LeBron would get a lot of “heat” for not being able to close this one out, but the team understood that he had the hot hand & let him take the last shot. He’s been able to close out plenty of games in the past with Cleveland (against LA, Portland, Orlando, etc.), but not much success from 3pt. land in the final seconds this year. Look at the overall game, though. James, Anthony, Bosh & Amare had good performances shooting the ball, but D. Wade, yet again, struggled offensively as he’s done with other top teams, such as Boston (averaging just 12.3 pts in their 3 meetings). Last night he went 5-15, scoring only 12 points (although he did many other things; 7 rebs, 9 asts, 3 stls.). The Heat are obviously an elite team, but i’m beginning to see a pattern. If Wade doesn’t show up against above .500 teams, this squad will have lots to worry about come playoff time. The Eastern Conference postseason should be very exciting, no matter who matches up.

  29. THE NEW BIG 3 says:

The reason why New York will be better than Miami, is because there is NO clear way to defend Carmelo Anthony. What makes him deadlier than James is a)Unlimited Range b)He has a much quicker first step c)I think on the block he is stronger than Lebron. Lebron’s postgame interview he deferred more to Wade when being asked questions. He was absolutely embaressed last night by Carmelo both offensively and defensively. I am a devoted Lakers fan, but I must admit, the excitement in that game last night was the start of something big. Carmelo showed why he is one of the best leaders in the league from the minute he stepped on the court. He showed NO FEAR when attacking Lebron as if to say….ANYTHING YOU CAN DO….I CAN DO BETTER (except passing lol). Wade looked confused. Sure he had 9 assists, but so much was made of Wades 41 last game against…..THE WIZARDS….but clearly this wasnt Washington, and clearly Wade is NOT in the same category as Lebron Carmelo Durant and Kobe. Miami plays great team defense, but they are extremely bad individual defenders. Lebron has NO chance of guarding Melo, and in a 7 games series, Bosh will get chewed up by the likes of Amare because theres no way Lebron and Wade will accept being eaten up by Anthony and not try and comeback everytime….which leaves us to the same problem Miami faced in the begining of the season….NO BALL MOVEMENT. Nobody wants to see Carmelo and the Knicks in the first round….or any round. Carmelo is not Paul Pierce. And although Lebron knows that, last night was a clear cut reminder. Can you imagine if the Knicks had a 7 footer? Miami is fast which makes them lethal on the fast break. New York can also fast break, but they have pure scorers, Lebron can score, but thats not his main thing, and Wade cant shoot. Even if he goes crazy one or two games, he is a career 30% 3point shooter. CARMELO IS A BEAST….AND BECAUSE PEOPLE GET TO SEE HIM NOW BEFORE THE PLAYOFFS, THEY NOW REALISE IT. I understand now why the Carmelo saga was such a big deal.

    • FanOfTheLeague says:

The Knicks would be deadly with a 7 footer playing along side Amare. I think the Heat may have the upper hand once all of their players are healthy (Big Z, Haslem, etc). Wade has had a number of disappointing games against above .500 teams this season and struggled last night, but none of that mattered once the Heat drew up that last play. LeBron may have faked out Melo & got up a good shot, but if you’re trying to tie a game in the final seconds with Mike Miller & Eddie House (3pt. assassins) on the floor, there should be no reason why LeBron should have to put up the last shot from that far out. Earlier in the season LeBron gave up an open shot to Eddie House for an even better shot & that won the game for them. LeBron is doing pretty good from 3pt land overall this season, but he’s no Ray Allen. I’m sure this loss will bury itself in the minds of James & company since they blew 2 big leads at home in a game that seemed to be theirs for the taking. NY’s Big 3 certainly made a bold statement. But we’ll see who has the last laugh in the East come playoff time. The Knicks are good, but they’re stick lacking in the rebounding & defensive areas.

    • DBBJ says:

THAT`S NOT WHY THEY ARE BETTER THAN MIAMI, THEY ARE BETTER THAN MIAMI CUZ THEY HAVE A TRUE PG – BILLUPS, PLUS CHAUNCEY BARELY TURNS THE BALL OVER, THAT’S THE DIFFERENCE. IF THE HEAT HAD TO PLAY AGAISNT THE KNICKS IN PLAYOFF, THE HEAT PROBLEM WON’T BE MELO, IT’LL BE BILLUPS.

  30. Mykey Massacre says:

See, THIS is why I made sure not to overlook Billups in this whole trade! If anything I was MORE excited for him in this trade for moments like we witnessed last night! Big 3: Stoudemire, Anthony, and most certainly BILLUPS!

  31. K says:

In response to OLDER144′s comments, the last second shot was not the problem for the Heat last night or for any other game, the problem is these guys need to learn how to play championship basketball for 48 minutes. This team’s inability to hold a lead or over take a team late in a game can be contributed to several factors; with shot selection being at the top of the list along with turnovers and the inability to end a defensive possesesion by holding a team to one shot. All of those factors if corrected would have led to a blow out win for the Heat in last nights game against the Knicks. These where problems that this Heat team had early in the season and here it is 60 games into the season with 22 remaining and they still have these same problems.

It’s frustrating as a Heat fan to watch these guys game after game fall into the same pattern of getting off to this fantasy start just to watch them shoot themselves out of a victory due to poor shot selection, unforced turnovers and second chance points. Championship teams don’t beat themselves.

  32. JNT says:

I think they should trade Bosh for a good Center if they had a post present they would be really good or in the summer Lebron should go work out with The Dream and work on a post game. A post up up scorer would make so many things easier for the Heat .What do you guys think go or bad

  33. Jao says:

Heat has been losing many of their close games. that’s a bad sign going into the playoffs. but i still believe in Miami. something needs to happen down the stretch. another shoulder bump or something much worse.

    • Rayo_Mortal says:

seriously….what if the Heat lose in the first round?…..have you guys thought about that…
bosh is an actor and not a player…
james shooting bricks in crunch time…
and the leader of that team(Wade) where is he?……the playoffs are around the corner….
The point is you don’t put 2 Jordans on one team and no Pippens….

  34. Spike! says:

Ok the knicks are officially showing how much damage they can do to a great team because the Heat is a great team one of the top contenders for an NBA title this yr. I do believe melo will step up his game a couple notches just because he is where he has always wanted to be all you ever hear him saying is how he asked for this now he ready to step up to the plate which is great to see. It will be a tough playoff run and i know the team was just put together, however I do believe the knicks have the potential of playing in the 2011 Finals.

WHY IS IT WHEN LEBRON HAS BAD GAMES,HE ALWAYS HAS HIS HEAD DOWN IN THE PRESS CONFERENCE AND LETS WADE TAKE THE HEAT??????HE ALWAYS PLAYS DUMB..LEBRICK GROW A PAIR AND MAN UP

  37. Realist says:

All you Heat fans, and other fans too, need to stop panicking about the Heat. They will be fine come playoff time, and regardless of what other people might think, they are on the same level as Boston and Chicago after that Perkins trade. The Lakers have won 1 game against the “elite teams” in the NBA as well, but I see no one is panicking about them. The Heat are playing the same way, just waiting for the playoffs and getting wins against the easy teams to beat. Regular season games couldn’t matter less for a good road team like the Miami Heat.

Now, I’m not saying we should be or are the favorites in the East, but we’re on equal footing with the Celtics after the Perkins trade, and I would have to say the Bulls are just a step below, I don’t think they are there yet, they are too young and inexperienced for my liking. They might surprise come playoff time though, they at least have a shot at it.

Anyways, point is stop panicking. We knew going into the season that every single game, win or lose, would be analyzed and broken down again and again and again, this shouldn’t be a surprise for us. One game doesn’t a champion make.

Lastly, Knicks will take time to come together, this was but a flash of what is to come for them in the future. They will be a force in the East as well, but it will take time. I understand your excitement New York fans, but be patient and give it time, you can’t possibly win a championship if you go into the playoffs playing only like 26 games together. It simply doesn’t happen. The Heat have will have only played 70-some odd games together going into the playoffs so it won’t be a surprise if we don’t win it all either, though we have a better shot with more passing and defensive minded players than you do quite honestly.

This all doesn’t really matter, we know we are an elite team and I believe that will show come playoff time. Doesn’t mean we will win it all, but it means we have a great chance to make some serious noise in the playoffs.

Can’t wait for the playoffs when games start counting.

unlike Kobe Bryant in loses…he always talk about consistency…..and they are consistent right now…
2.- what is the logic of: in playoffs they are going to step up? why?
3.- The Lakers are looking for 4 straight NBA Finals and a 3peat, they know how!! that is why we don’t panic about them…………………………but i’m sorry the Heat is looking for what?……..

The Heat obviously don’t have what it takes to win right now; and I don’t know what it is. They are beating everyone they are supposed to (aside from LA) and losing to all of the team that they’re going to have to go through. If you can’t beat them in the regular season, then don’t expect to take them in the playoffs. They’ll be playing twice as hard as they are now.

    • Gary says:

No true. LA hasn’t beaten San Antonio or Dallas yet but are still considered the top team to beat for the west in the playoffs.

  40. luis says:

Good lord since when have you people been watching trhe nba? i can sit here ALL DAY and tell you stories of how many times good teams like the 98 bulls,2000 lakers,81 celtics loss twice, three, and sometimes 4 times to a rival and the regular season then to win in the playoffs. In Fact, every world champion since the founding of the nba (1946) have loss multiple times to a rival and it all changed in the playoffs. I dont know how many of you have seen ALL heat games, but i have and one things i noticed that disturbs be is that i NEVER see them play a FULL GAME. They show their full pontential for 1 or 2 qtrs then they stopped playing. Its like watching an air show, you see nice fast planes, good team work, nice moves, then boom there is a crash and the show is a disaster. thats how i describe the Heat. And another thing, when has LBJ been a late game closer? being a Heat fan i know what Wade can do during close games. Why isnt Wade closing out games? Wade is one of the best late game closers in the game and yet Spoelstra leaves it in the hands of James. Late in games Wade needs to step in and take charge and show the world that this is HIS TEAM. Wade needs to stop relyingon James so much and start playing like The Wade of old.

    • JNT says:

I agree Lebron is my favorite player and the best player on the team but he is not a closer. I think that is more on the coach he need to decide the peaking order it should go to Wade first then Lebron I watch and I be like please give the ball to Wade be no Lebron jacks up 3′s everytime. I love you Lebron be please give the ball to Wade you don’t have anything to prove you don’t have to close the games thats for Wade to do.

  41. Clijo says:

Last night’s game proved the Knicks can be a very good defensive team. If this team’s defense will improve to at least half of its offensive prowess, then they can be a nightmare in the playoffs to other teams. Not saying that they’re title contenders but they can pose serious problems to other teams. It is so amazing how ‘basketball analysts’ are slowly changing their opinions on this New York Knicks team.

The Knicks might just be a major upset in the playoffs. It’s not everybody’s favorite team but no one knows what might just happen~just sayin

  42. THE NEW BIG 3 says:

Im going out on a limb here, but people will remember me saying this. If New York can matchup with Chicago in the first round and win that series, I think they will win the East. It sounds crazy, but Boston shot themselves in the foot with the Perkins trade. I say that because Perk was the reason teams didnt want to drive on Boston. It was like running into a brick wall. Offensively you had Shaq and defensively you had Perk. Now Boston is vulnerable. New York on the other hand will be playing inspired Basketball this season, and last nights win should go to show you what can happen when a team is inspired….especially a team with the firepower of New York’s caliber. Im looking forward to a New York Los Angelas finals. Kobe 3rd straight MVP!! Oh….speaking of MVP, I wonder why people dont mention Lebron being 1-8 against top teams in the league?? I mean, what kind of MVP can NOT win in big games? Ill tell you what. Sports writers need to stop riding Lebron’s Coat-tail and realise that MVP means MOST VALUABLE PLAYER…..not MOST VALUABLE STATS. Lebron is a Stat monster, but when you are on a team that boasts the fire-power of Miami, how can you say he is a MVP? Sports writers are funny as hell…. In the summer it was “WOW, LEBRON CAN LEAD THE LEAGUE IN ASSISTS….WOW LEBRON MIGHT AVERAGE A TRIPLE DOUBLE….WOW LEBRON IS SO GREAT…” Now these same reporters are saying “WOW, LEBRON AVERAGES 25 7 AND 7…hes gotta be the MVP” Gimme a break. Stats are great, but I guess Kevin Love should be MVP. Lol…Okay not Love, but Dwight Howard who HAS TO PLAY 39 MINUTES A GAME!!! in order for his team to be successful should without a doubt SHOULD be MVP. Derrick Rose is up there, but in all fairness, Dwight Has NOOO BACKUP CENTER!! Take him away from Orlando, and they are no better than 8th.

  43. Paul Jr says:

I AGREE….LEBRON JAMES(IN MY OPINION) IS THE BEST PLAYER IN THE NBA BUT HE SHOULD NOT HAVE THE BALL IN THE FINAL SECONDS OF A GAME. HES MY FAVORITE PLAYER OF ALL TIME BUT HE IS NOT CLUTCH… IN THAT SITUATION I WOULD OF HAD CHALMERS, JONES, MILLER, LEBRON AND BOSH ON THE COURT…. USE LEBRON TO DRAW THE DEFENSE AND GIVE THE GUYS WHO CAN SHOOT A SHOT

    • Efosa says:

If you are the best player in the game, you should have the ball in your hands in the last minute.
lebron cant be the best, its kobe, chris paul, dwade, dwight or melo,

    • Efosa says:

      no dwade c’mon son.
Dwade has to get that ball, At least take off chris bosh, mario, or miller for dwade

  44. anonymous says:

What Miami Heat needs to do.
Waive carlos arroyo, enter mike bibby.
Get leon powe as soon as possible and remove jamal magloire.

No need to get Troy Murphy.

Let Chris Bosh be the clutch shooter in the last minute, it would completely surprise the opponents as they guard House, Miller, Lebron, and Wade. (I still can’t understand why Lebron didn’t pass the ball to Eddie House.0

    • Big Ups 2 Billups says:

I’m glad that the New York Media is finally given Mr. Big Shot his props!! I’ve been a Pistons fan from birth and I was straight up sick to my stomach watching the blatant disrespect that was being showed to Billups during this trade. Raymond Felton…Wilson Chandler.. Gallinari…Mozguv was too much to give up ..are you serious? Let me put it like this…The Pistons made it to 2 finals (2004 champions Big Ups MVP) and 6 consecutive Conference finals during Chauncey’s time here from 2002-2008. The Pistons finished the 2007-2008 season (Chauncey’s Last full season in Detroit) with a 59-23 and a trip to the conference finals eventually loosing in game 6 to the original Big 3 in Boston. We stupidly traded Chaucey 2 games into the 2008-2009 season for Allen Iverson and ended up having our first losing season 39-43 and losing to Lebron and the Cavs in the first round. Til this day we’re still been paying the price for trading Mr. Big Shot…All you have to do is look at the recent headlines of the ridiculous and embarrassing mutiny of our terrible coach. I’ve seen some dude on here post a list of guards that he thought were better then billups but only two of them (rondo/tony parker) have a ring. None of them have been named Finals MVP and probably never will. Because with all due respect to Melo and his talents yall really have to understand that he never even made it to the western conference finals until Chauncey arrived. If the people of New York were smart and really wanna win a Championship in the near future they would start showing Big Ups the respect that he’s due. If not..he’s gonna go back to Denver where people know his worth and make the bulls, celtics, magic and heat extremely happy!!! It’s kinda ironic that a former Detroit Pistons All Star guard and Finals MVP (Zeke) drove the Knicks organization into the ground …it’s only fitting that a former Detroit Pistons All Star guard and Finals MVP lift them back up!! Gotta love it!!

  45. Dan says:

Ba ba ba Billups! We miss you in the D Mr Big Shot! I hope the Knicks win it this year. Dumars made a big mistake and you should still be a Piston! Maybe not the top PG in the NBA, but definitely in the top 6, and I’d rather have him on my team right now than any of those above him. And I’d rather have the Knicks Big 3 over the Heat’s Big 3 any day! I’ll take Amare over Bosh any day! Chauncey is the key though!

  46. G says:

Well the Heat is not missing a clutch player or good defensive player. They seem imo to need some good coaching and positice psychology. So what if Bosh has been bad offensively and LeBron missed some important baskets??
In a REAL team, each player should be doing what he does best in conjuction with what his team need the most. The problem is these guys still have not found what they need to do e.g. Bosh if u cant score today just play a heck of a defense, cause really u can do that any day w/o fail. Let Wade be Wade, cant really find something bad to say about the guy, and LeBron, since u have so many able scorers in your team, play some strong defense, muscles arent just for tearing down opponent’s defense, but building your own too… Just to clear things up, im a Celts fan, and i consider Celtics to be a real team, in which each player has his role and is successful in it. Allthough NY were just together for 1 week, it seems their basketball insticts made them work better as a team than the Heat. In any case, whether its lack of coaching or simply lack of maturity, the Heat still dont play like a team…

  47. heat it up says:

whoa, are you guys blowing this up all over one loss???? c’mon, wade and lebron are just too much to handle. and we’ll have mike miller back and ready for the playoffs, meaning he’ll pay for those double teams. knicks wont make it past 2nd round in the playoffs. miami has a shot at the title

  48. somone says:

Heat are beating all the teams the should beat and having a struggle and just falling short against elite teams id rather that then have great games against good teams and bad games against crap teams at least the consistent defensive effort is there night in night out regardless of loss.. offense will catch up!

  49. Xaled says:

if Heat-Knicks meet in playoffs? would the Foul Rules would be removed again? beacuase that was how Knicks beat the Heat, and that’s why Heat fans still Hate New York Knicks to death

  50. Shawn says:

knicks beat bulls two times most likely they’re going to face them and they can beat them. Because if the bulls want to be a championship team they have to beat the knicks but guess waht my knicks are contenders and maybe might be going to the second round of the playoffs.

  51. RUBEN says:

IT LOOKED LIKE lechoke WANTED DISAPPEAR AND CRY AFTER THE GAME..LMAO I LOVED IT..SELF PROCLAIMED QUEEN

  52. BASKETBALLFAN says:

R U GUYS SERIOUS. THIS TEAM HAS A GOOD GAME AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN WHATCH OUT HERE COMES NEW YORK. LET’S TALK AGAIN IN A WEEK OR TWO AND WE WILL BE TAKING ABOUT HOW GOOD NEW YORK IS GOING TO BE NEXT YEAR. AND FOR ALL OF YOU MELO LOVERS. REMEMBER HE CAME FROM A WAY BETTER TEAM AND HE NEVER DELIVERED.

  53. Jason says:

Beyond the walls of intelligence life is defined
Nothing is the equivalent, to the New York State of Mind!

The Knicks have it all on offense to be honest and Stoudemire is improving defensively. This is obviously a very hard matchup for the Heat as they have a strong point guard and a strong inside presence. I believe this team will truly show the flaws of the Heat

  54. Tyler says:

New York Basketball is Back at last. I think that the Knicks could upset Chicago and Miami. Then again, we will wait till playoff time, but if they really put forth a defensive effort for the rest of the season, and come playoffs, they are on a roll, this team can, and will make some serious noise in the East. I think they could possibly even pass ATL in the Standings, but it is safest to wait and see. But this game has given me a lot of hope for this Knicks squad

  55. J says:

Billups is the one who’s gonna lead that team to the conference finals, they gonna pass over the Heat just like in 99, GOOOOOOOOOOOO KNICKS, 10 years waiting for a real team !!!!!!!

  56. CVE says:

i would just like to repeat everything that i heard on ESPN today because i am incapable of formulating my own opinions on what i seen last night. i’m sure many will find that you agree with me.

  57. gordon says:

Hmm..anyone else notice that Miami only wins games when they shouldn’t after they shoot more free throws..look back..close to even number of free throws against new york..miami loses..last friday an INCREDIBLE (happens quite often if you look at the stats) win over washington..washington shot 17 of 25 free throws..miami shot 34 OF 45?!?!?!..yet only won by 8..wait..miami and chicago were even for free throws..lost to chicago..wow..come playoffs..MIAMI will be HISTORY against a plus 500 team..ORRRRRRRRRRRRRR they are simply being “pushed” along to make them seem better than they actually are ;) that’s my guess

  58. im not sure says:

i feel like everyone forgets ecf 2007… lebron hit a ridiculous number of clutch shots. it seems like the heat are trying to facilitate everyone to learn to take pressure shots, even if they miss them in the regular season so that when playoff time comes around, they will have lots of options to go to at the buzzer. it sucks that lebron has missed 2 clutch 3′s. it also sucks that mike miller is blowing massively at the buzzer. eddie house is doing it right… and i think the team understands that dwade can do it too. i dont know, dont write the heat off just yet; they’ll be there and ready to play in may. cautions optimism haha. also, chauncey just put nyk on the map for real, now they’re a team not just two other superstars in a big city. and the spurs and mavs are scary good right now….

  59. gordon says:

sorry for everyone but..new york adding Dwight Howard alongside Melo Amare and a good point guard would equal a LOT of future championships..Miami has a lot of runners and gunners..a few big guys as walls to run into and they’ll be lost especially after a team fires up its proven scorers..

  60. Dan says:

Billups is the BRAIN on the court. Respect to him! He is A REAL DEAL.

  61. Kellyjelly says:

SMH! you guys are mad cause the Knicks won OH WELL. it’s life #LESGOOOKNICKS!

  62. Momo says:

I think everything has been said about this Heat team all above. But I just can’t help but add that this team is just not a championship caliber team, and there lacks will be exposed when comes playoffs time. As it is clear to everybody, the Heat don’t have any half court offense they basically rely on their exploviness and the points they can get through fast breaks. If they’re denied fast breaks they struggle big time to set up true offensive motion and end up giving the ball to Lbj for him to create; and that is exactly what got the Cavaliers (and Mike Brown) failing big time year after year in the playoffs. Lbj is a great player (even though he’s still not clutch) but it looks like the Miami staff are making the same mistakes of putting the ball in his hands for salvation. Only a team effort, and a real offensive groove can help this team be a pretender to a title. And by the way need to get a real interior presence (no offense to Dampier and Big Z) but we all know what good it does to have a strong interior powerhouse in the playoffs.
With that said I’m still looking up to what would this team do in the playoffs now that they seem to have “found” some kinda chemistry…

  63. Daniel says:

all i have to say is skill should not constitute who’s the best PG in the NBA (skills-wise, Chris Paul). It should be what they have done in their careers. Billups is a four-time all-star, and yet he is always overlooked even since he was the reason Detroit beat the Lakers in the NBA Finals. I mean, sure management got the best trade in Rasheed Wallace, but you cannot honestly tell me Detroit wins the chip without Chauncey. So personally, here are the best PG’s

    1)Rondo
    2)Billups
    3) Parker (Spurs)

    not the obviously freakish PGs

    1) Rose
    2) Westbrook
    3) D-Will
    4) C-P 3

    • MikeFromOz says:

Rondo NO.1? you’re kidding me right? he’s a great passer but that’s only because the guy’s around him can finish. Rondo can’t shoot and is near Rose as the best P.G. Rose is the ultimate leader he can do it all. He doesn’t just have a good head on his shoulder’s, he has the drive, the will and most importantly the desire and the heart not only to be the best point gaurd but the best player in the league.

  64. James says:

There is no such thing as a “best point guard”. But when its go time and you need someone that will manage a game and go to war with the other team, I’ll take chauncey over anyone hands down. Experience over youth anyday over the week. Especially when the experienced one is playing like hes 25.

  65. rfgb says:

All of the big three in miami hit HUGE shots on their old teams, so they could just go to whoeber is open too.

  66. Ac3 says:

Has anyone noticed how the top 5 scorers in the league are divided in only 3 teams!!! Any1 who faces the Heat or Knicks should be scared bcuz even though both teams are still building chemistry(which usually takes years) both these teams are starving championship!!! LeBron James the chosen one…. Im in Miami B!tch!!!! lol..

  67. SSD LAKERS FAN says:

KNICKS FANS THIS WAS A GOOD GAME, BUT REMEMBER THIS IS JUST ONE GAME. THROUGHOUT THE GAME MIAMI HAD A CHANCE TO TAKE OVER BUT DIDNT, EVEN THOUGH KNICKS WON – LOOKS LIKE MIAMI LOST THIS GAME MENTALLY, WHEN THEY SHOULD HAVE WON.

CHAUNCEY IS A KEY TO THIS KNICKS TEAM, HES NOT THE BEST POINT GAURD IN THE GAME BUT I WOULD TAKE MY CHANCES WITH HIM, HE HAS THE EXPERIENCE AND TOUGHNESS TO WIN PLAYOFF GAMES, WHEREAS THE YOUNGER BETTER GAURDS LACK IN EXPERIENCE AND BILLUPS CAN DEFEND ANY GAURD.

MELO SEEMS TO SCORE ON WILL AND HE MAY BE RIGHT THAT NOONE ON THIS PLANET CAN GAURD HIM, HOWEVER, TIME WILL TELL IF HE CAN DEFEND IN THE PLAYOFFS.

TOO SOON TO THINK NY KNICKS CAN BEAT MIAMI IN A SEVEN GAME SERIES – I DONT THINK LEBRON AND DWADE WOULD LET IT HAPPEN WITH THE KNICKS THIS YEAR. THEY ARE ALREADY LOOKING AHEAD TO A CONFERENCE FINAL WITH THE CELTICS.

  68. LB99 says:

The problem with the Heat is with Spolstra. I simply do not believe that he is deserving to coach this talent. Like . . . who is this guy? Really. . . I honestly believe that if Reily was the coach, the Heat would atleast have a winning record against teams with winning records, However, they currently have a loosing record against these teams. Their offensive scheme is as week as it was last year. The heat performed as well last year purely off of Wades talent. While I watched last years games, it look to me like Miami did not have an offensive plan, while the opposing team seamed to always have some type of offensive system in place.

Moreover, Lebron is a great player and leader. We must consider the character of the players on the Cavaliers; a team that lost over 20 games in a row this year. Who does that? If Lebron can reach the Easton Conference Finals and NBA Finals with that group, he should be able to do more with Wade and Bosh. And lets be real about this, which other player could have led that bunch as far as Lebron as often as he did. No one in my opinion. I do not believe that Wade could have. He was right to leave.

Look back at Jordan, his team went to the Easton Conference Finals after he retired. He had a much better supporting cast and played with 1 future and 1 current hall of fame players and a future hall of fame coach. The problem here is the coach. Yeah and this should be Lebron’s team because he is the alpha male on this squad; however, I do agree that Wade should be the first option in the last 2 minutes of the game.

  69. jero says:

im a heat fan, but when i saw the balll in the hands of lebron during crunch time,, i was like argggghhhhhhh , how the hell in the world will he win a 1 vs. 5 match up..

    • FanOfTheLeague says:

I agree. Not that I completely doubt LeBron’s ability to close games. I’ve seen him takeover plenty of games in the final minutes, but it’s never a good idea to go 1 on 5 (especially when the momentum has shifted in the opposite team’s favor). The 1st drive that got blocked was a fair attempt, I wasn’t too upset because he drove hard to the basket. The second attempt was pretty dissapointing. If you’re down by 3, why not give it to the best 3 point shooter? In this case, Miami is FULL of snipers. They should have drawn up a play where either Bron or D-Wade drew the defense in & kicked it out to either House or Miller. I mean, c’mon. Miller wide open from 3? That’s cash money just waiting to fall lol

  70. rpminc says:

I am happy for Billups , having such a great game against the Heat. He got so little respect during the melo-drama

    NY needs him big time.

  71. L o L says:

NY is going to be a great team when they get a legitimate center to back up Amare. I’m pretty sure they will make a big splash in the playoffs this year, but they aren’t going to beat the likes of boston, chicago, or miami in a 7 game series this year. They don’t have enough size to rebound.. which is key to winning playoffs.. like how boston got outrebounded after they lost Perkins to the lakers last year.. Anyway as for Miami.. i wouldn’t say .. this lost makes them a non contender.. i mean most teams in the east can’t match up with them in a 7 game series.. playoff is all about match ups. I think.. this years finals probably going to be Celtics and Miami or Celtics and Chicago.. they are clearly the best teams in the east this year

  72. rfgb says:

I agree with the lack of billups’ respect. How can this possibly be reffered to as the melo’ treade when an =other superstar named billups is in the mix?!

  73. Nathanael Joseph says:

    Best point guards :
Rajon Rondo 12 assists (sometimes is changes to 13)
    Steve Nash 11.3 assists
    Deron Williams 9.9 assists
    Chris Paul 9.6 assists

  74. D-Wade Country says:

stupid Lebrick it should have been wade taking those 2 last shots

    • MikeFromOz says:

Wade should’ve played better defence on Deng against the Bulls and contested that shoy against Billups!

  75. NYK47 says:

    MR. BIG SHOT.. it is..

Mr. Chauncey still the best Point guard as far as the game is on the line.. probably take the BIG SHOT…

And ohh!.. c’mon Lebron?? trying hard to be a clutch like MELO my man..hahaha! he aint gonna nailed that..

NEW YORK FANS.. are you going to argue with me.. MR. BIG SHOT is THE BEST???..
    down to the last min..??right???

    GO MELO… NICE BLOCK AMARE=)

  76. rfgb says:

What about WESTBROOK? He is never mentioned in the best point gaurd discussion

  77. CV says:

LOL i like how everyone is saying lebron shuldnt have taken the last shot…ok who was then? Wade is a worse three point shooter than lebron. And honestly people can say wade is more clutch than lebron but in the big games this yeaer wade has had bad shooting % and high turnovers. I find it funny how noone talked about how wade only had 12 points….was that not a factor in this lost?

    • jero says:

should have went to mike miller, his hot behind the arc that night his 3-5, beside that’s why guys like miller , house and jones(3 point champion) are their. lebron wants to be the hero or the highlight of the night. unfortunatley he does thou in a different way.(blocked a couple of shot and missed a 3 point). if jordan was in the game we would have not pass the ball to pippen(wade) but surley pass it on kerr or paxon.

    • FanOfTheLeague says:

HUGE factor. The Heat are not too successful against Elite teams. But just look at the box scores in all those games. LeBron hardly ever has a really bad game. Wade has had more than a handful of horrible shooting nights this season. Neither of the 2 have been able to successfully close out a game. All this talk just shows you who the most hated man in basketball is. In order to be hated this much, you’d have to be pretty good, otherwise, no one would care. IMO, the Heat shouldn’t have been in this position in the 1st place. D. Wade is one of the best players in the league & there’s no way he can keep on struggling against above .500 teams if the Heat want to win it all.

  78. sting___ says:

well.. its just 1 game… i’am a heat fan but i also questions James decision on that last 2 plays. Wade/Bosh not even had the chance to touch the ball after the inbound. I also question why Miller and House are there for? BUt we must give credit to the knicks on this win. There new roster really proves they can match up well against the best teams in the east.

    add ons..

Wade dont have a good game also. scoring just 12 points. its hard for the heat to win w/ bosh and wade are below there averages. Thats the flaws of the heat team. If bosh or wade are not on their A game… its going to be tough.

  79. ZBloom says:

wade’s expression after chauncey hit that three was priceless

  80. Iraelite says:

With the amount of Knicks fans in ATL, MIAMI and ORLANDO the Knicks would have a 7-game home stand against any one of these teams in the playoffs. You saw the crowd was probably 60%-40% pro-NY last nist night.

  81. Lefty247 says:

Wade was a no-show. Lebron was dishing but no one was hitting. Miss or make he made the right decision. Simple case of good offense great defense. Both teams are still missing a player or two from seriously contending for a title, but both will make the playoffs very interesting and push whomever they play. The rivalry returns (NY/ MIA). I’m loving it already.

  82. JR says:

I find it funny how Melo can play good defense only when facing another superstar.I remember him frustrating Kobe a couple of yrs ago when Denver played the Lakers in the playoffs.
Only thing is he’s not consistent defensively. If he can commit to D night in and out the rest of the team will follow and NY will be a legitimate contender. If not, they will be a good enough to reach the playoffs and thats it.
As much as i like LBJ,he’s definitely not a good closer. He needs to elevate his game to that level.I also think some of the blame can go to the coach.I have yet to see good designed-plays when the game is on the line. There seems to be a confusion as to who gets the ball when a basket is needed. They went with Bosh before turning to LBJ on the last plays

  83. Nino Miranda says:

LEBRON SUCKS!!!! Miami Sucks when the game is decided to 3points or fewer. 5-11???? AND NO. 6 IS NOT A WELL-KNOWN CLUTCH LIKE KOBE BRYANT. SPOELSTRA should have insisted that they give the ball to DWAYNE WADE. Now, i have a respect to that man because what he did with the DALLAS MAVERICKS!!! GO WADE!!!

  84. jared says:

Ok, and Dwyane wade and Lebron james are 2 reasons the Knicks should be worried come playoff time…

  85. lal says:

I can’t take this seriously when WESTBROOKE is in someones top 4. Westrbrooke needs to learn basketball abc. . Putting Westbrooke anywhere near to Chris Paul should be a crime. PG job is to run the offensse.

What’s with this guy dropping idiot bombs. Dude, what are you doing on this site. Everyone alive knows that Cleveland played San Antonio in the 2007 NBA finals. Where were you, under a rock. Do you even watch the NBA? I know, you just keep up with the games on ESPN. Additionally, you are right. You are missing something. . . “Knowledge of the NBA”, so do us all a favor and drop off this site. Thank you.

  87. christine says:

Just becausnew york gets two good players for once, they are all of the suddne contenders in the playoffs? All of these nba players like lebron and melo and billups are jokes. They dont have any ethics, they are offered a few billion dollarsand they get up and leave their teams that are reliant on them and shoot their fans the finger as they are leaving(metaphoraclly) They dont care about their fans or their teams only about the money.

    • MikeFromOz says:

Billups wanted to stay at home in Denver, Melo went home to NY and Lebron took considerably less money to leave home for a better shot at the title and you call yourself a fan. It’s a business, it’s work. If you don’t like where you work you leave and get a job at another company. If your company doesn’t think your good for the job then they’ll get rid of you. But I guess you’ve probably never got fired or left your job for more money or a better opportunity because of your ethics. There are 2 types of fans 1)Team fan-wants best for their team 2)Player fan-wants best for the player. I guess your a team fan probably Cleveland or Denver?
These guy’s come out every game try to win and put on a show for you a so called fan and calling them a joke is just disrespectful.

  88. idostats says:

wade should def get the ball in clutch time, but miller had hot hand and should’ve taken the shot if open…i didn’t see the game i do stats like LeBe

  89. Em_Sorum says:

Just think if Rip Ham would have been traded to Cleveland then bought out and went to New York after (which could have happened if he did not turn down the deal a few days ago)…then coming off the bench with his old championship team mate (Billups) ….they would have did some amazing things!!!

knicks and heat wnt make the finals…..boston vs los angeles again

  91. jero says:

if billusp stayed in detroit, the pistons would not be in this situation.

  92. jero says:

off all the stars billusp has the most playoffs exp. 6 straith conference finals(5 with detroit 2 trip to the finals 1 championship and 1 with denver), billusp is a winner , he might not have the speed of other point gaurd but he is effective in what his doing in every team he went to.

  94. Dave says:

Carmelo Anthony is not to be counted on night in and night out. yeah, he can pull out a performance like this but do you trust him series after the series in the playoffs? Cause I sure don’t. Maybe a game here or there where he decides to show off, but mentally he doesn’t have what it takes, the seriousness to compete at the upper levels. Carmelo’s had some great teams in Denver and they underachieved for the most part. LeBron on the other hand has had some pretty untalented teams and taken them further and more often in the playoffs than Carmelo. I’m not sure LeBron has enough determination to succeed at the very top either, but Carmelo definitely doesn’t. Carmelo wanted to make a statement game in Miami, okay he did that, now he’ll probably chill for a few weeks and do his reality show. Mission accomplished. LeBron isn’t looking to make a statement game in the regular season, he’s looking to win the whole thing. But compare this to guys who have gotten there – Kobe, Tim Duncan, KG – they have an intensity level and focus that these guys dont’ have. The knicks will get as far as Chauncey takes them – Amare and Melo are a pair of poseurs who just want to be on Sportscenter
The west finals will be Dallas vs. L.A. and the east will be Boston vs. Orlando anyway

    It s very good

  96. FanOfTheLeague says:

It’s so easy to blame someone that’s man enough to take the last shot & miss. Seriously, LeBron may have blown games in the past with not being able to be the closer, but he’s also won many games as well. Why would you give the ball to Dwyane Wade? Sure, he’s had his game winners, but EVERY elite player in the NBA has had their share of game winners. D. Wade did NOT show up in this game, the same way he didn’t show up against Boston in all 3 meetings. Anyone that’s shot 5 for 15 & is a career 30% 3 point shooter probably shouldn’t have the ball in his hands when the game is on the line & they need a 3 just to survive. LeBron has now missed 2 game deciding threes (CHI, NYK) but Dwyane Wade has done the same. He missed the final 3 against the Bulls (right after LeBron missed) & he missed a game deciding free-throw line jumper earlier in the season. I honestly didn’t want to see the ball in either of their hands. They have those 3 point snipers (Eddie House, Mike Miller, James Jones) for a reason. A rushed, contested 3 point shot is not a high percentage shot for neither LeBron or Dwyane. But LeBron had the hot hand and obviously the team agreed that he should take the last shot. You win some, you lose some, but let’s be realistic here, you don’t lose many games when LeBron is on your squad. I think the Heat will be just fine. Let’s not forget this team has yet to have their entire roster healthy & still have a great chance at being the number 1 seed in the East.

  97. Richman says:

well guys…i definitly agree to what the majority says, LBJ is the go to guy…in Cleveland…but in miami,,,its d wade.
it is really about accepting the fact that maimi’s roster is really clogged with star studded players. they are really having a hard time
with regards of the playing time..the spotlight the hard court presence, but about that shot why dont they try to give their 3 point king a chance, james jones is an excellent shooter right? he didnt beat paul and ray for no reason at all!!!

  98. pswy23 says:

men i heard last night that there are a lot of people chanting defense against the heat..

  99. MikeFromOz says:

it’s just one game! ya’ll really think the knicks could beat the heat in a 7 game series?

  100. WTF says:

    HEY no foul?

  101. B A T M A N says:

Chauncey Billups was the equalizer proving the Knicks the better team last night. as for Miami, they got a lot of probs to fix, mainly playing all quarters, attacking for the defensive rebound, less turn-overs, find a three-point shooter who ISN’T streaky AND look for a closer/clutch player!!

  102. cooljoeji says:

May the best TRIO in the NBA win! Although it takes 5 players to win the Championship!

  103. RUBEN says:

I DONT GET IT..WHEN THE HEAT LOSE HEAT FANS KILL COACH SPO…ITS NOT THE COAH ITS THE STUPID FADEAWAY 3′S LECHOKER SHOOTS..COME PLAYOFF TIME HEATS GONE IN THE 1ST ROUND.. P.S. 3 STOOGES U WONT GET PAST BOSTON OR CHICAGO. LAKERS ALL DAY EVERYDAY!

    • MikeFromOz says:

Are you kidding me?? out 1st round?? you don’t even know what your talking about!!

people got to start talking sense and stop writing stupid comments. Don’t worry about what the HEAT are doing buddy just worry about your own team last time I looked they were 3rd in the west and 6th in l the league.

Alright so Bron’s 3 wasn’t the best shot but so wasn’t Kobe’s fade away 3 last year, you guys were just lucky Ron Ron was there to catch the airball.

And finally Lechoker the 3 stoogers? didn’t your mother ever teach you if you don’t have anything nice or constructive to say then don’t say anything at all but I guess HATERS GONNA HATE right.

  104. victor says:

oh boy the knicks are coming back strong i`m glad Melo and Billups got traded to NYC can wait to see the playoff challenge the seasons to come, great team

  105. heat says:

knicks they cnt beat the heat in game 7 series….

  106. manu says:

miami heat used to be dwayne wade’s team. Not anymore. 2 shot attempt for lebron in their last 2 possessions. Coach eric didn’t even design the last play for wade. I believe wade is much better than lebron during clutch time. Everybody in Miami including Coach Erik forget how Wade made game winner shot last season including the one he made in 2OT win against Bulls if im not mistaken where Wade stand in the officials’ table afterward shouting to the fans “this is my house”. But sorry wade its not ur house anymore. The game deciding shot attempt is not for you to take anymore. If they give the ball to wade for the last possession in their last game vs Knicks, maybe they win it.

  107. K says:

In response to JNT’s February 28th (1:41 post); I agree with your assessment regarding LBJ needing to develop a post game; his lack of a post game has been exposed throughout the course of this year. However; I do belief that like any great player or competitor he’ll definitely use this off season to improve on that part of his game.

  108. Truth says:

Chauncey Billups won’t give 10 assists a night, like Rondo. Chauncey Billups won’t score 25 a night, like Rose. He could give you 20 pts and 8 assists a night though. What it is with Billups is leadership. No NBA point guard has it like this man. CP3, D-Will and Rondo will just give you assists and top plays and possibly a few points. WestBrook and Rose have a scoring mentality, That is why Chauncey Billups STANDS OUT and is UNDERRATED. Want a leader? Billups. Want to win it all? Billups. Want a clutch player? Billups. Yes, he is getting a little old, but the guy still has gas in him to see another title or two. He’s been through rough times in the NBA. Look at him now. Him, Melo, and Amar’e are Thee Big 3. Billups once said, “All the other guys got the helicopter ride to the top. Not me though, I had to climb on my own.”

  109. Ice Pogi says:

    @LakersWillWin
“Just wait until we play Miami again… With the way we’re playing right now, they don’t have a chance.”

WHAT??? Lakers dreaming of beating MAIMI??? the lakers even lose to the CAVS… the LOWEST of the LOW beat the poor lakers gals… the lakers don’t even have a chance of beating the CAVS… How’s that for real…..

KNICKS HEAT pretty good much up… BILLUPS ANTHONY STATS- WADE JAMES BOSH wait until playoffs

  110. K says:

Eric Spoelstra sometimes seems to be in over his head when it comes to making in game adjustments with this Heat team. His player rotation appears to be pre-determined which keeps him sometimes from being able to play against another teams weakness. His rotation pattern of playing D-Wade and Bosh along with LBJ for the first 6-71/2 minutes of the first quarter and then sitting D-Wade and Bosh for the remainder of the quarter could work; however, you can not bring in James Jones to play the four during that time. James Jones is a 3 period; when you bring him in to replace Bosh and now your line-up is made-up of three 3′s (LBJ, James Jones and Miller), your giving up entirely to much size. In some games you may need to play Bosh a few extra minutes in the first quarter to keep from losing so much size; especially since Haslem went down. You may even what to play Anthony at the four with IIgauskas or Dampier at the five during those minutes; but you can’t create such a disadvantage for your team by leaving the second team with only one true big on the floor.

Spoelstra has to get better at thinking quicker on his feet. Your superstar players are young, so don’t be afraid to play them some extra minutes if the game situation warrants it. When Haslem went down and since Miller hasn’t played anywhere near his capability, Spoelstra now has to adjust his rotation in such a way that James Jones or Miller isn’t force to play out of their natural position, which in turn will more the likely increase their effectivenesss as shooters. Neither of these guys are bangers so don’t continue to put them against the likes of “Big Baby” Davis, Kurt Thomas or Taj Gibson; their going to lose those match ups. Both Miller and James Jones should be out on the perimeter chasing the other team’s 3′s around screens not trying to bang with the other teams 4 or 5′s. One of the arts of coaching successfully is knowing how to create match up advantages for your team; not the other way around.

  111. Ryan D says:

Come on heat fans. Don’t you see what coach Spoelstra is trying to do with LeBron, Yes we all know that he is not cluth.. but what do we do if a guy struggles in crunch time, we teach them, we make them feel how it feels like to be in that moment. Coach SPOE is teaching LeBron to be clutch and that is not far from being possible, jus like KG said NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE. Yes Wade is clutch but imagine this, having 2 clutch guys in one team would be great. Let’s hope for the best! Miami heat all day!

  112. bigboy11 says:

until the heat gets a good point guard they are gonna lose to good teams

  113. Dave Posess says:

I am a Knick fan…die hard, but Wade should have taken that last shot. LeCon is a beast, but has nuts the size of chick peas. Look at his performance against the Celtics when he was with Cleveland. NYK have beaten Miami twice now, both times when they were less than “polished.” Last game, they beat Miami at its own game, in its own building, with the BIG THREE intact. Anyway, with the game on the line, I will take Wade any day. How many game winners does LeCon have??

  114. chad says:

hey guys, we know lebron and wade is better than melo and amare but i n d stat. but in team play i think the big three of knicks is more advantge of winning than miami 3. why? billups is the key to the knicks track. billups had a good resume a MVP finals a veteran who can make a clutch shots and melo also.. melo and billups are a clutch players.
MELO and JAMES = i think JAmes it advntge of his complete player but he is not a clutch than MELO.
WADE and BILLUPS = Wade is far advntge than chauncey but take on eye on him cauz u know the BIG SHOT’s cause he is a dagger and a defensive specialist can guard SPECIAL PLAYER. i think wade is more flashy and athletic but Billups is more Genius than WADE.
AMARE and BOSH = Wow Amare now is healthy and Strong he can put shot at the mid. he is now difficult to guard cause he added new arcenal. well bosh a versatile than amare but well he is not consistent at all. bosh is a fake though guy. like he did in raptors he left raptors cause he knew the front line of raptors is domanting than him…

Thats why i conclude than knicks bet miami

  115. MHPFW-MIAMI HEAT POWER-FORWARD WHISTLER says:

lets stop looking at the regular season and lets what for the playoffs before allot of people are downing the heat, i can recall the finals for Miami in 06 that the mavericks had are number for years in regular season to this date,if if i am rite i think we only beat them 1 time in the last 10 years in the regular season, but when it came to the finals the heat beat theme 4straight after loosing the first 2 game, and we still have that same MVP here in Miami.and everybody knows hes name, and lets net forget the extra talent Miami has this year, lets just wait and stop the criticizing. allot people hate us because talent wants to come here because this is the Caribbean in the states and they wish they had it like us. so allot of people hate us.

    • MHPFW-MIAMI HEAT POWER-FORWARD WHISTLER says:

and another problem we have here in south Florida is our fan support because we have allot of imports here from the snow birds, but i dont understand why they hate on our teams but they want to live here. so it must be better in florida then were there from ,but i no they want to hate on us because were there from it sucks, so they have to act like they have something better then us but they dont.
