Artest Wants Out?

HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS — An already strange season for the Los Angeles Lakers shifted into crazy mode today with the news that Ron Artest is hoping to be traded by the team he helped win a championship eight months ago.

Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak indicated that the Lakers would be open to dealing someone in order to energize things.  ESPN.com’s Marc Stein has “a source” that indicate Artest is hoping he is the man that is moved:

I’m told that there’s at least one prominent Laker who hopes he’s the guy who gets shipped out in the next 20-odd days.

One source close to the situation insists that Ron Artest wants out.

Asked to react to that, Artest’s agent David Bauman declined comment.

This is where I’m obligated to remind you that no one in the NBA can change his mind faster than the famously fickle Ron-Ron. Another pertinent disclaimer: Artest’s play has been sufficiently sluggish in the second season of a five-year deal that whatever he wants is bound to be greeted by shrugs and scoffs, no matter how much he gave the Lakers in the epic final game of last season.

I’ve nonetheless been assured this week that Artest — though he hasn’t outright demanded a trade and is likely to publicly deny it — is serious about wanting to be dealt somewhere “he can have fun again” less than a year removed from the pivotal role he played in that ring-clinching Game 7 with Boston that the Lakers so nearly squandered.

One can only imagine how this news will go over in the locker room with Kobe Bryant and the rest of the Lakers, not to mention Lakers coach Phil Jackson.

UPDATE (3:40 p.m. ET via the LA Times): Artest’s agent refuted the claim that his client wants to be traded. “Ron is not looking for a trade,” Bauman said. “The frustration is there among everyone on the team. But Ron is a Laker, and he just wants to win. Ron is frustrated with the losing, as everybody is.”

Rather than waiting around for their responses, which will surely be as entertaining as they are biting, we’ve decided to put this matter to a vote.

Does Artest stay or go? You decide.

Don’t trade Ron! He is the only guy who is willing to do the dirty work. I still think he is the core player for Lakers’ defence!!!

  2. Kobe B. says:

Ron is not getting traded. We are lovers and I cant play without my backcourt man!

  3. Are u serious ? says:

    Ron for AI?
    Ron for j-smoove?
    Ron for melo?

    i also notice blake griffin..

    u see..
    its not gonna happen..

    its LA
    its HOLLYWOOD…

its just some scenario to keep LA in the spotlight…

    geez…

  4. Kyle says:

I think the lakers should trade ron artest, luke walton, steve blake, and andrew bynum and put michael jordan, magic johnson, kareem abdul jabbar, and larry bird in a machine that’ll make them young again and put them on the lakers so we can win some more ships.. thats just about how dumb all of these comments sound. If artest wants out, trade him. He’s not gonna do anything productive if he stays. I’d take just about any other small forward in the league than him as long as they’re younger. THEN trade that no good luke walton. I really don’t know why we hold on to him. Oh and steve blake. What a let down. With those 3 gone, pick up a couple of good hard-working european players and maybe a young point guard to replace d-fish who should STAY in LA since he is the captain and so we can put him in for a situation where theres 0.4 seconds left. haha

  5. gerry says:

TRADE KOBE BRYANT. REMOVED HIM FROM L.A. GET CARMELO AND HOWARD AND CHRIS PAUL.

  6. dsmspyder says:

Trade him. I never really cared for him. His stats are getting lower as well as his enthusiasim. Nuggets seem to be rebuilding and moving peices this year. I say trade ron A for JR Smith. We’ll get Matt Barnes back soon enough, and JR will help rekindle the “lost” spark… I think a trade will do the Lakers a lot more good than most think. Lakers need something to get them playing effectively together… As much I’d love to see G Wallace get traded to LA, that dosen’t seem realistic… Maybe LA will get the ass end of this trade, but I honestly think that is what is going to rejuvinate and give the Lakers a new motivation.

  7. y says:

love the LAKERS ! LOVE RON!

  8. they should trade RON FOR TURKOLU

  9. pack noh! says:

trade fcking Bynum he sux and weak!! and walton is a fcking useless just for sho faggot! cmon! stop wasting money on those noobs even i can play better than those weak ass pussies. cmon be smart laker manager use ur money wisely!! fckin idiots!! lmao

  10. well kobe is a beast and he can make things happen but i would love to see cp3 and he would fit in because when kobe have a bad night he cp3 to back him up and trevor needs to be back in a laker jersey because he brought great talent to the squad but this is how it need to be…(PG)chris paul backup (blake) (SG) kobe backup (brown) (SF) artest backup (trevor) (PF) gasol back up (Lamar) (C) bynum…. and look at that what the lakers need is a big man so gosal can rest with bynum in case of a come back 4th quarter so the lakers need to go get (trevor ariza, chris paul, and a big man) Derrick fisher i have no problem with you i want you to stay and help chris out because you was thier first and i dont expect you to give up you spot but all im sayin is i wanna see chris paul and kobe work together then chris paul and kobe could relax because they would have somebody they can work with and they wouldnt have to do all the work… LAL your the best in my eyes (Richard Shipman Jr) Kobe your number 1 and will always be but you got to get some help!!!!!!! so get your team fixed up…for example look at the celtics while LAL was winning championships they was getting they bench together and look at them a well developed team but LAL is still better but thats how i want the team to be and Artest i need you to stay because you are the best defensive player and Lebron has nuthin on you….

    • laker fans dont worry bout da lakers game right now …..come playoff time..kobe, gasol and odom are going to handle it like champs do and light it up. by june kobe will have that 6th title.

  11. steve says:

No panic in LAKERS nation we trust they know what they do.
Reporters don’t start things up we ain’t panic.

  12. steve says:

L.A. CP3 doesn’t fit in this offense.CP3 has to have the ball for 20 seconds in his hands to do something. He wouldn’t survive in the triangle he would be frustrated or Phil would be.
And yes Marcell I agree Ariza was meant for the Lakers but should of stayed in the bench with lamar Shannon Matt barnes and Steve Blake. That is an awesome second team for the lakers.A fast team coming off the bench.Besides not every team has seven footers in center and the ones that do just aren’t that good.
We good.Hope to see Trevor in a Laker jersey again soon.Don’t forget Ron and Fish are O.K. they fit perfect. It’s not the roster what ever you guys are worried about it’s not them.
    See you all in June.

  13. steve says:

Keep on dreaming Heats fans we don’t trade to the Heats, they got nothing we want. The heats are to cheap to build a dynasty, they want every player to sacrifice to play with Lebron. They tell them they’ve got the winning pieces when even they know they won’t even get out of the east.
Sorry guys but you guys have ways to go to build dynasties like the Lakers. The Lakers will rebuild faster when Kobe retires in five years than the the Heat will.

Come on Jones and Arroyo for Ron,you must be kidding. For the players that the Heats have for trade, they would have to give up most of them for Ron.Between all the reserve that the Heats have put together don’t play the defense that Ron plays. He does what he is meant to do.Doesn’t have to explain why he plays the way he does to any reporter,He is a part of the team.He is part of L.A. mixed with a whole lot of queens.Which is all good for us.

  14. skeebz says:

try to look of what R.A did for LAL …

  15. LA says:

its not all about artest! arterst is fine being in the lakers! All they need is a new point guard that will replace derek fisher because fisher is old and slow now and cant keep up no more. The lakers need a player like chris paul, rondo, or deron williams.
the lakers are still doing good. they just need to get their act together and get their game back..the lakers are to cocky and thats how they lose! but still look what happened last year, they were bad last season but still came up with champion trophy.
we’ll see whats up when the playoffs start!!

  16. steve says:

What is all this?!A real laker fan trusts what the team does not what the media says.If you don’t have your trust in them dude just look for another team.Especially Kobe,Fish,Ron,Pau,Lamar and the crew are O.K..
They know what they do been there done that for them. They know what they can do.Phil knows what he has to do and that is what there doing at this point. You can hear it in every interview.
The guys know what they do.
It’s not just any other team and couch your talking about.
Those of you that think fish should be gone, your just plain old stupid.Fish is made for this system. There might be faster point guards but not smarter. The guy know what he can do.The triangle doesn’t get started by a point guard most of the time.In the triangle you don’t need a Nash or Chris Paul. You need a fisher or a Deron Williams that know when they are needed, when it’s their time.If you need someone to be moving the ball like CP3 that’s why we have Kobe that demands double, triple and even a whole opponents team to stop him.

I trust in there strategy maybe some games haven’t gone the way they wanted too,but no team is perfect.
Lots of love to the Lakers organization for giving us the fans some great teams and moments that have been part of our lives and thanks Kobe for coming to L.A. and become the top player of this era and maybe of all time.I feel Jordan discovered this way of playing but Kobe perfected the game.

  17. Marcell says:

Okay, I HONESTLY THINK THAT WE SHOULD HAVE NEVER TRADED ARIZA TO GET ARTEST.. I UNDERTSTAND THAT ARTEST HAS MORE EXPERIENCE.. BUT ARIZA WAS YOUNG & UPCOMMING.. HE FIT GOOD INTO THE LAKERS OFFENSE & DEFENSE.. WITH HIM BEING YOUNG WAS HELPING THE OTHER LAKERS ACTIVE TOO.. GASOL RAN THE FLOOR MORE.. BYNUM STILL WORKING HIS WAY BACK FROM BEING HURT… BUT I REALLY THINK WE NEED TO FISH FOR ANOTHER STARTING FOWARD WHO IS GONNA BRING ENERGY & LEADERSHIP TO THE TEAM.. KOBE IS GETTING OLD NOW.. ITS GETTING READY TO BE THAT TIME WHERE KOBE SHIFTS TO POINT GUARD & TO BRING SOME NEW GUYS THAT WANNA PLAY & WIN JUST AS BAD AS KOBE.. GASOL IS TOO SOFT.. BYNUM IS TOO BIG TO PLAY THE WAY HE PLAYS.. & I DONT THINK WE HAVE A TRUE POINT GUARD.. WE NEED TO MAKE SOME TRADES ASAP!

  18. fairytail says:

trade fcking weakass bynum and useless walton for someones better .. blake griffin or somethin!! cmon!! fckin idiots!

  19. 1 says:

  20. Black_Mamba (GER) says:

Matt Barnes will replace Artest well

get a young defensive PG from an bad rebuilding Team (Pistons,Cavs,Nets,Raptors,Sixers) for Artest + Ebanks

  21. Ao1 says:

    Trade Mitch Kupchak

  22. Manila Boy says:

Trade Ron Artest and Steve Blake for Gerald Wallace.

  23. Whatshouldhappen says:

Ron artest should be traded for james jones and carlos arroyo… I think that would be the perfect peice for the heat. ron can lock down almost anyone and with him in the puzzle the heat would be unstoppable defensely. IT DOSNT MATTER IF RON ARTEST AND BRON DONT GET ALONG!!!! Kobe and ron hated each other. now look at em.. its not really hate its the type of game ron plays.. he gets in your head.. Mario chalmers, D. Wade, Mike Miller, LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Ron Artest, Big Z, Eddie house…..Im thinkin dynasty

  24. CrazyMan says:

Maybe trading artest, fisher and maybe a round pick for shane battier and aaron brooks would work.

  25. This is bogus says:

    Sekou, your “source” is bogus.

  26. Tanay says:

The Lakers got rid of a much more consistant Trevor Ariza for Ron ? ummmm did anyone forget the game changing steal ariza pulled on melo in the west conf finals ? yeh . Nuff said. All the Lakers need to do is to ditch baggage like they did with Mbenga, Farmar, Morrison, etc. and Upgrade. Like they did with Barnes and Blake and extending Brown’s contract. Find a rookie or sophmore that u can polish and make great. cuz who was Brown before the lakers ? nobody. who was ariza before the lakers ? nobody. I think its time we found another nobody and prove to the rest of the hating world that the LA LAKERS ARE GONNA THREE PEAT BABY !!

  27. james says:

why RON artest? how about luke walton..DAMN.. because of his father??? .also joe smith and theo R. this 3 players is useless

  28. john says:

all who vote to trade artest is a fan of other team because they want to beat the 2 time champion and #2 seed in the west and still a championship contender and intimidating lakers if they trade artest now i think 3peat wont happen

  29. jc says:

trade ron artest for carmelo anthony

  30. alex p says:

come on guys…the trade wont happen at all…come april Lakers will be well tune for their 3peat…

  31. Nate River says:

Why not trade Fisher to PHX and Nash to LA… it would be a great team if they have a good passing PG..

  32. lakerfan says:

trade carmelo anthony for ron artest and luke walton!!

  33. kb2410 says:

trade ron artest for carmelo anthony! :))

  34. LA LA LAND says:

This is bussines not a few guys that gadered arround to play a game of hoops, if some one is not satisfied let him go if he is not producing as much as he should MAKE HIM GO. Someone mentioned Tony Allen man would that trade be nice because you are all talking about James, Durrant, Melo but you forget that Lakers can not guard any playmaker in the leauge not speaking about Westbrook, Rose, Rondo, Williams, Parker, Paul, but almost any playmaker can score against Blake and Fisher so getting id of Blake and someone for Tony Allen would be a good thing so that old Kobe who can’t defend the likes of Wade sholdnt have to. Even Battie is agood pick. If Ron doesnt want to leave he should be given an ultimatum or a private trainer to get him fit if he still wants to play. Kobe is criticizing Gasol because he is playin SOFT he has his moments when he is aggressive but most of the time he isnt , and you talk about Kobe scoring EVERY GAME OF THE LAST TEN HE HAD OVER 50% AND 5 ASSISTS SO YOU CAN”T SAY THAT HE WAS TAKING TOO MANY SHOTS AND BALLHOG THE PROBLEM IS THAT EVERYBODY IS SAYING HE IS SCORING GET HIM THE BALL AND NOT SCORING THEMSELVES… LAKERS NEED A POINTGARD OR A GUARD WHO CAN DEFEND POINTGUARDS.

  35. LakerFan4Life says:

Take Ron Artest off of the meds!!! He has gone soft!!!

  36. thevizualizer says:

Ron is a very prideful guy. Kobe is a VERY VERY prideful guy and the leader of the Lakers Kobe in my thoughts is probably just in Artest ear to much and its annoying him. I HATE LA with a passion they are the Basketball Yankees. When things go wrong theres always an excuse, instead of just saying they arent performing.someone made a post earlier about them being tired. BS what are the Celtics then? and that team is old as well with exception of Rondo. Lakers dont need to drop Artest unless they can get a for sure fit the system guy. What the Lakers do need is a PG to get the ball out of Kobe hands and stop making there offense so perdictable. Can you say TJ Ford?

  37. melly mel says:

I really think the knicks would be a great for for Ron, he is from queens, and the lakers could get someone young and tough in return.

  38. luweee says:

trade artest to the spurs! they need a defensive player like bowen! spurs won a lot of championships because bowen stopped the stars! that would be greaat! fear the spurs if they got artest!

  39. DerikD says:

all u people are suggesting unrealistic trades…why would other teams give up there superstars to the lakers for ron artest lmao

  40. BRING RUDY GAY TO DA LAKERS

  41. Dom says:

This is dumb…when the team lose it aint just one person’s fault
everyone need to step up and be physical….they not playing defs…they even had trouble with the rockets without yao ming in the roster cmon now….scola just f**king nutting on them with bang shots and jumpers….they have def in side at all!
as a lakers fan! i hate to say this…..seems like the 3-peat is slipping away…this team need to gather up play defense
pass the ball and KOBE! dunt cant have that many isolation…they need to go to pau and kobe and pau again…isnt that what they best at!
and they need to those assists up when they had ariza that one year…they were team leading with assists in the league…they had extremely good teamwork….need to move the ball…and do more of triangle!

  42. DerikD says:

trade ron artest for oj mayo

  43. Robert Michael Mandall-Perez says:

Are you guys serious? We need Artest to win a championship. He’s got the best D I’ve ever seen plus he’s aggressive and can hit a 3 pointer well. If you guys are talking about trading anyone, trade: Devin Ebanks, Derrick Character, and Theo Ratliff, for a really good player. But seriously, I hate to see Ron go and I especially hate to hear him say he wants to go, I wonder what’s really going on. If it’s money, then I think he should get more because I don’t think he’s the problem. Anyways, go Lakers! Kobe needs one more to tie Jordan and Phil needs one more to give him four three-peats.

  44. Damo says:

I would have to say if they are going to trade him trade him for tayshaun Prince or ( I know this one is unrealistic ) Danny Granger

  45. they should trade ron for rudy gay or ron and joe smith for josh smith and marvin williams that would bring up da team

  46. tradeorkeep says:

or ron artest 1st round pick for j r smith of denver .. or
d fisher and artest 1st round pick for calderon derozan and use devin ebankss as starter
or keep artest and use steve blake as starter………. or get stepen jackson dor fisher artest and future picks

  47. tradeorkeep says:

trade ron artest derek fisher 1st round pick for stephen jackson of bobcats…..
or ron artest 1st round pick for j r smith of denver .. or

  50. Butchie Reveche says:

    Trade him for Melo.

    What do you think Sekou?

  51. chris says:

    blake griffin and kobe combination

  52. aus mike says:

this lakers issue has been nuilt up too much by the media. their second seed in the west, 3 games back from boston who lead the east. what a joke to suggest that the team is in dire struggles. this artest issue should be sorted out in due corse. I hate to say it, coz im by no means a lakers fan, but this organisation knows how to do business, and everything they do or attempt works out for the benefit of the organisation. if artest is traded, its for the best. if they keep him and manage to keep him cool, then im sure the lakers will get over their seemingly soft performnces, and continue to reep havoc in april

  53. Aimar says:

FIRST OF ALL RON ARTEST MAKES DA LAKERS HARD….HES SA ONLY ONE DAT WILL LAY BROTHERS OUT AND BRINGS TOUGHNESS TO THE TEAM

SECONDLY AND FINALLY IF TRADE HAS TO HAPPEN

  54. the heat is on says:

what if they trade bynum, blake and artest for billups and melo?

  55. richuncle says:

Ron Ron is the best defender on the Laker team, they know he can play at a higher level when the playoffs start. If not for Ron Ron the Lakers would not win Championship in 2010, he is an important part of the Laker team and the players and coaches know he shows up to play and hopes to win every night. I wish Phil would play Ron the minutes he deserves and not keep him out of close games in the final 6 minutes. Once Ron knows his role and minutes then he will be more comfortable instead of feeling left out of the offense and close games.

  56. basketball is my life says:

FIRST OV THE PANIC IN LA IS SO STUPID , YUR 2ND SEED IN THE WEST THINGS CAN B A LOT WORSE , DIS IS A PROBLEM DAT CAN B FIXED , DEY AINT PLAYING TO THE LEVEL DEY SHUD B NUTHIN WRONG WITH THE PLAYERS IT IS THERE FOCUS , BEING TWO TIME CHAMPS DOES MAKE EM COMPLACENT THEY R ARROGANT AND SUMTYMES MAKE IT HARDER ON THEMSELVES WERE THEY SHOULD WIN GAMES THEY TRY WINNING THE HARD WAY , THEY WIN NOT TRADE ARTEST TO MIAMI U RETARDS DEY WOULD NEVA CONSIDER GIVING A PLAYER TO TEAM THAT POSES EM A THREAT FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP THEY MAY TRADE EM 2 A TEAM WHO ARE TRYING TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS OR A 6TH , 7TH , 8TH SEED , giving artest to them artest has played with the lakers knows there offence and could giv miami info that could aid there cause , HOWEVER DIS IS STUPID NO PROBLEM IN LA , ONCE DEY START WINNING AGAIN THEY DO DIS EVERY YEAR AND IM SIKK OF IT JUST TO CAUSE SUM DRAMA , THEY DO IT ON PURPOSE TRYING TO CREATE ADVERSITY THAT IS NOT THERE .

  57. infinite says:

you gotta be kidding about McGrady and Carter… There washed up, and I don’t think they would fit into the system. If Artest wants to go, then let him go. I’ve never felt comfortable with him on the team as you never know what your going to expect. Variety is the spice in life, but in this case it’s not true. He’s to inconsistent, to mentally unstable, and made to many questionable decisions at times. Even during game 7, I did not trust him with the ball. Although he did well, I attributed his performance based on luck. Lakers were just lucky that Ron clicked that game. I’m harsh on Ron but I tell it how it is from my perspective. Anyways back on topic, Artest hasn’t been doing well as of late (and prior), and he seems like he can’t take constructive criticism from Phil. Trade him for someone more athletic and energetic. I don’t know who’s on the market but trade Ron! If he WANTS to leave, then let him leave and get someone worthwhile in return. He does bring a physical presence but his defense isn’t what it used to be before. I remember vaguely during the playoffs Ron getting burned by Pierce every time. btw, I am a lakers fan.

    @ Sekou
Just wanted to point out that I think your the best writer on this site. Keep it up!

  58. alphaeng says:

The Championship series last year is different from this season. Last year, Artest was a very big factor for the Lakers in winning their title. However, it’s all different today. As we all can see, Artest is non-factor for the Lakers this season. He is not contributing. The defensive skill that he is known for is simply not there; the hustling is absent. There is a simple rule in the NBA: Shape up or ship out. Simple as that.

  59. NEALOVESKOBE! says:

TRADE RON ARTEST AND STEVE BLAKE! FOR BLAKE GRIFFIN!

  60. BigZo says:

Artest was very very lucky to be traded to the lakers. He wasnt picked up for his personality thats for sure! It was for his defense. He was there coz LA feared LBJ. He has been a drama on every team he played for. He thinks he is underutilised, coz his ego is bigger than his ability. LA will have trouble trying to find someone who will take him coz he is and always will be a very unstable individual.

  61. jake13 says:

TRADE ARTEST.. he’s not playing well unlike last season. he wants to be traded, so be it.

  62. rokz says:

just heard MELO will be wearing Purple and Gold in exchange with Artest-Walton combo!!!!!…….Great! GO LAKERS

  63. Rob says:

You can tell who are Lakers fans on here when they come up with ridiculous trades.

The Lakers will have to trade down if they want to get rid of Ron-Ron. They’re the two-time defending champions, a team which is permanently targeted by 29 other teams in the League. Why then would any of those 29 teams desire to make the rich any richer? In other words, don’t make up ANY trade which involves Artest for any team’s #1 guy. If you want a #1 guy, other teams don’t want to see any offers which don’t include the names “Bryant” or “Gasol”.

So, with that in mind I do like the trade to Orlando to make a punishing inside-outside defense. But it’s got to be a process where Phil Jackson and co. sit down, take a look at some viable sixth-men around the league, see who could benefit in their system and execute a trade which on the outside looks like a steal for the other team but in the long run turns out to be a good investment for the Lakers.

  64. johnjay says:

Lakers & the media need to shutup, RON RON will shine in the playoffs, lakers will need him then

  65. wi says:

i think the reason why ron-ron wants out is because he wants the laker to win threepeat even without him, he just want to make sacrifice for the team, beacuse he knows he’s game are low, maybe thats the way he wants to show his love for the team, get rudy gay instead, shooter, dunker, shot blocker can shoot 3 ‘s better match up with lebron,he’s the only player can play a face up game with lebron ive seen it on one of the grizzlies-miami game,

  66. NBACIENTIFIC says:

i guess the lakers have to trade ron cuz he has a bad season is not compare the same numbers of the last season i think this is the worst season for him

the lakers need a consisten 3point player like kile korber or other consistent 3 point shooter player

  67. K-MAC says:

    RON-RON & JOE SMITH

    vs

    TAYSHAWN PRINCE & RIP HAMILTON

  68. Joe says:

    Stay put.

    Lakers are fine.

Playoff bring out higher energy level and Ron works in Lakers favor within this atomsphere of play.

Opponents are kept a bay and their key player has all he can deal with when Ron is on his trail.

  69. unknown. says:

i know what’s the lakers are doing….the trade that they wanted was ron getting traded to the nuggets with a few guys like bynum or draft picks and cash considerations for Anthony…. And Melo wants to be traded to title contender..

  70. SAn says:

how about carmelo for ron artest than nobody can beat lakers and its a possible trade…..they play same position too

  71. RealTalk says:

STOP WITH THESE STUPID TRADES! steve blake for nash? ron artest for melo? Joe Smith & bynum for josh smith? igudala? come on now you guys are talking FANTASY TRADES. the realest one ive seen is artest for duhon & q. richardson, which would actually be a good idea. but seriously guys, come on now. be smart….

  72. KB24 says:

I just suggest that Trevor Ariza and Ron Artest to trade

  73. kemar says:

They just need to pass the ball and play denfense

  74. Mark says:

Sekou, what about getting Steve Nash for Steve Blake and Luke Walton and maybe some future draft picks. i mean Suns need to rebuild their team. Suns got their future PG. and that is Dragic. they could use Steve and Luke to boost the bench.
Fisher in the other hand can help off bench behind Nash. Lakers need some veteran who can drop three’s and stretch the offense. He’s a great leader too.

    or Artest/Walton/Blake for Andre Igoudala.

  75. John says:

I think trading Artest and walton/blake for Melo and someone else would be really cool. Not saying it’s gonna happen but sounds like an awesome trade.
I know Kobe and Melo play alike but if Melo wants to win, he will certainly cooperate. Plus I think Melo is a much better defender to place on LeBron rather than Artest. I love Artest but if this is what he really wants, then this is what I think should happen. Remember there is another rumor that Dwight Howard or CP3 might possibly join the Lakers. How awesome would it be to have Dwight/CP3, Gasol, Kobe, and Melo on one team? Like i said this is just an opinion. The trade rumors come as is.

  76. Kobe Six says:

you guys watch out, who knows where Kupchak will work his magic again.

just like the Pau Gasol trade, who would’ve thought. haha

  77. LAKER says:

lets leave it up all to coach phil.. he has better thinking WAY FAR from ours.. he knows how to use players.. he knows how to use ron-ron.. so lets just relax and wait for the playoffs..

  83. ericko says:

Ron trade to Grant Hill much better

  84. Kid Creole says:

The only reason they won last year was that THE REFS as always got involved by calling some bad calls. Sunday was just proof that all that acting/flopping crap Fisher, Gasol and Kobe pull is out of date. (REFS stay out the game and CELTS were champs) simple as that. Truth is out, hate on the CELTS all you want but we doing it!!!!!!!!!!!

  85. Hunter says:

THIS TALK IS ALL NONSENSE….Forget about trevor ariza already, we already just won a championship without him. And forget about getting Melo. Getting Melo means that Kobe and Melo would be on the same team, and im sure they both woudn’t share the ball. Both of them are their own stars, and getting Melo would mean less points for him and Kobe. Not trading Ron would be a smart move, and trading him would also be a smart move. Ron is the best defender on the Lakers, he’s a clutch performer, and is athletic. Few seasons ago, when he was on the rockets, he was a beast. He has already fitted into the offense (not well) and understands the triangle offense, and is also a part that what makes the Lakers so intimidating. He will always be capable of showing his true potential on the Lakers, so why trade him? But if you do trade him for anyone, it always depends. Trading Ron will lose some more confidence for the lakers, and they will be worse defensively. BUT, trading ron artest will mean minutes for SHANNON. He has stepped up greatly this season and has potential to be a starter which will never happen. Although, this will get the Lakers offense better. Sooo, it all depends.

  86. iCeChucK says:

trade artest & bynum for melo… that should be interesting…

  87. Trade ron artest for Brian Scalabrine! YEEEEEEE. >;D

  88. josephus says:

if you lose artest you never win in the boston celtics…. artest is the greats deffender in your team.. and he can stop all the star player.. leki kobe bryant… so artest is still on the team.. im your # 1 fun. god bless lakers..

  89. SA,GO says:

maybe the best deal in there is James posey. very tough guy, can play 3 or 4, good spot-up shooter and lesser salary plus short contract. this is if they are not looking on the long run and posey’s team is willing to handle a time bomb. but for the long run prince is the best possible option out there if the psitons are willing to take his sizable contract. mba-amute (from the bucks if i get the spelling rigth) or even marion can be a good deal. what can you say sekou?

  90. josephus says:

  91. king says:

give respect to ron ron his in the league for a while,, i think ron deserves to be traded if he wants because if the lakers win kobe get credited and if lakers loss they blame the teamates or particularly to ron ron that sucks its not fair,,, remember the game winner against the suns in west finals and a big time 3 point shot in the finals.. kobe just took free throws after free throws,,, but ron ron hit the big shot,,, and in the huddle phil said dont give the ball to ron ron in the west finals,, thats pure dis respecting ron ron but it turn out to be in ron rons way ron ron go and get traded have some fun and be yourself,, go back to the rockets where you and shane battier is the primary defender ,, or just retired and continue your singing i mean rapppppppp!

  92. Bean says:

    Artest for Melo…..

  93. getreal says:

    TRADE KOBE BRYANT!
This is the perfect opportunity to pick up a the most for him.
He is weighing this team down, and is ruining the morality of the team!
This is the way to save the season, whether the kobe-lovers like it or not.
I bet anything that Phil agrees, too.

If Artest is guna get traded trade him for Carmelo that would get the chances for 3 peat a lot higher…

  95. kyle says:

    trade artest for ariza

  96. Femi Adesina says:

Sekou I definitely agree with you on the panic button. Like as unpleased as I am with the Lakers play (and I’m not even a fan just like to see good basketball), the truth is this panic button is excessive. The first thing people forget is that if the Lakers aren’t significantly slower this year than they were last year. Remember they did pick up Steve Blake and Matt Barnes who are still guys who hustle and make fast break plays. And yes Kobe has slowed down but the truth is that Kobe will get his someway or another. The Lakers main problem is simply a lack of consistent play which is something that is common to the organization. But just when people start thinking that all the Laker hype is out of respect, they decimate teams in the playoffs. They are a well coached organization. No organization has such volatile and skilled players at the same time. Gasol plays soft every season no matter how many times he has been told to be a man. Bynum’s injuries has always been an issue but the truth is the Lakers dont need Bynum at a 100 percent to win. Kobe is going to keep getting you points. And all these Ron Artest talks. Leave the dude alone. When Robert Horry was non existent for a whole season for the Spurs and he hits a big shot randomly that helps the Spurs advance noone mentions that. I think people are just so used to picking on the usual victims they simply disregard basketball. Everything will fall together.

  97. LBJ6-WAD3 says:

WHO CARES….LOL….BUT I HIGHLY DOUBT IF HE GETS TRADED…

  98. Ron artrash says:

DUDE FREAKN TRADE HIM FOR TREVOR ARIZA FKING way better than that peice of trash

  99. Fernando says:

The Lakers should propose a trade with the Phoenix Suns sending Artest, Fisher, and Joe Smith for Dudley and Dragic. just sayin’…

  100. artest barnes blake to prince stucky…

  101. saysay21 says:

i think BOSTON WOULD DEFINITELY TAKE HIM, boston lost their best perimeter defender in Tony Allen, so yea, why not trade him? ARTEST CAN REPLACE HIM. But LOS ANGELES WOULD LOSE A VERY GOOD DEFENDER.

  102. Balla says:

DO NOT TRADE RON ARTEST unless you get a superstar like Melo. OMG DO NOT DO IT! Small Forward is the most versatile spot in the game and it carries the best players in the game, Lebron, Melo and Durant. Artest is one of the few in the league that don’t need double teams to stop those monsters. If you let go of Artest, Lakers will be even worse on the defensive end.

  103. Ferdis says:

    trade him for Blake Griffin

  104. bigbaby says:

Artest is not the problem so why trade him. the problem is coaching and the so called leader!

  105. Lurid says:

Artest and Joe Smith for SHAQ and…uh…maybe von wafer…or maybe shaq is good enough 😛

…I just think it’d be hilarious to see Shaq and Kobe back together…see how that “motivates” them!

  106. Darren says:

Read This, no they are not better when playing exclusively through Pau or Bynum. they play better when Kobe is the main facilitator on the offensive end. When he’s making a lot of great passes on top of his stellar offensive skills, the Lakers are tough to beat. But, I do agree they play better when Kobe doesn’t take almost every shot by himself, that’s when the Lakers struggle as a team. I like watching Kobe destroy defenses and score a lot of points as much as anybody, but I’d rather see him score 25-30 points and the Lakers win rather than watching him score 40 plus and lose.

  107. kobe sucks says:

i think kobe should be the one to be traded because he sucks he always wants to be the hero in every game he is a self centered as____

  108. rcbrice says:

Most of the ‘potential’ trades that arose from this discussion are far fetched at best; Artest simply doesn’t carry the same value that go-to players such as Mela carry. Artest’s role as a Laker is/was a defensive one and his purpose to come to LA was to fit that role (which is why I find it so ridiculous when people criticize Artest whenever his offensive gave doesn’t show up.) The reality is that Artest is a piece player; you add him to a team to compliment other pieces already in place including key piece players such as Kobe. Why would any rational GM give up a key player (Melo, AI) for a piece player?

Now assuming that these rumors ARE true (which I still regard as the simple drama accustomed to Laker-wood), the only reasonable trade would be one that would match Artest’s value as solid perimeter defender. The Lakers have no need for the likes of another scorer (Melo) as they have Kobe who is more than willing to have the ball in his hands with the clock running down. The void that Artest’s leave would be one that can be easily ripped apart by teams that specialize in a perimeter-style offensive (Boston) or simply have dynamic scorers (Miami). As much of a fan I am of Barnes’ defensive mindset, I don’t believe hes at the same lockdown level that Artest has proven himself as.

Ariza MAY be a plausible choice (assuming the Hornet’s see benefit in signing Artest). Let’s not forget he was initially signed by the Lakers because of his originally DEFENSIVE mindset. Given his current situation as a CP3 wingman, I don’t think Ariza has been given much opportunity to develop his D-game but I still believe its there somewhere. Battier (from the Rockets) would also be a good choice for perimeter defense for the Lakers (with his hand-in-your face style of play).

    Any thoughts Sekou?

  109. pmarkedward says:

where stil playing regular season game its not playoff yet.they shoud trade artest for trivor ariza

  110. ron says:

Last year’s championship was Ron’s… he has been the catalyst upon beating the Celtics.

Trade him and might as well say byebye to your championship this year.

  111. Todd01 says:

I think personally, u should trade Ron Artest because if he wants to leave then u should let him. Artest has bee a great defensive leader to this point to the Lakers nd the organization, but sometimes u have to move on. Kobe is still a threat as it is but i wouldn’t be the same if he left. We’ll see as the week goes on.

  112. alphaeng says:

Trading Artest for Rashad Lewis is not a good idea. Lewis is moody player, meaning he’s terrible wen he does not feel like playing, and he’s mmmmm fairly good when he likes to play. He’s inconsistent. He’s more a liability than asset. What the Lakes need right now are three players: 1. another big man because Bynum is injured again (what’s new?), 2. a scorer that can back Bryant, and 3. a genuinely gutsy player that can match and put a gag on the mouth of the arrogant Black Mamba.

  113. Unknown says:

well, thats will be bad decision to trade ron…its a big lost to lakers……

  114. Dwight Howard says:

If they’re gonna trade Ron Artest, they should also add Andrew Bynum and another Laker to the Magic for Dwight Howard.

  115. Ginebra says:

    MELO FOR ARTEST

  116. dong says:

    trade him…..artest sucks!!!!!……

  117. beastmode melo! says:

i think Ron Artest and Steve Blake should get traded. lakers need to be a fast break team again. I also think Sebastian Telfair would fit perfect with Shanon Brown as far as second team. they have to make up for wat they lost with Farmar. and lakers should trade artest for Rashad Lewis. they need a real perimeter threat. it would open up the floor for the bigs and even kobe!

  118. Lakerzzz says:

    RON = MELO

  119. alphaeng says:

Trade him. Ron Artest is not an asset to a team; he is a liability. He can’t shoot, he can’t dribble well, his rebounds are awfully few for a player his size ( D-Rose has more than he), his defense is on and off –more off than on– and he often looks confused/rattled on the court. If there is something that he’s good at, it’s committing blunders and hard fouls and technicals on the court. He pales compared to Rodman who can rebound well, can defend well and, more importantly, can intimidate opponents. Ho-hum.. ok, trade Artest now. If the Lakers want to defend the title successfully, they should eliminate all liabilities and pick someone who is genuinely gutsy to match the arrogance of the so-called Black Mamba.

  120. Martin says:

Mitch please bring Melo to the team it will be greates laker team

  121. Ginebra says:

    LAKERS NUGGETS

    MELO ARTEST
    LUKE
    JOE SMITH
    CARACTER

  122. tjlaughs says:

Artest is too important defensively to trade. He may be a weirdo and not (who can blame him) like Jackson’s motivational techniques, or his playing time, or the fact that Matt Barnes is a more efficient version of Ron Artest…but who do you trade him for without hurting the team’s chances of winning in April through June? That’s all the Lakers care about.

  123. ben says:

trade RON RON, i wish ron artest go to miami heat so that he can add a defensive play.. =)

  124. en says:

the lakers dont need to trade fisher just fisher needs to accept a role of playing much less minutes and coming off the bench. the way shaq does in boston.

    • en says:

but the guys on the lakers roster to fill fishers spot are good but not good enough to win a championship with them as a starter.

  125. Joseph says:

maybe Artest was affected by Mitch kupchak comments about a possible trade. he might feel that his name might be included in a Deal.

  126. Don Bibo says:

Tayshaun Prince!!! That guy is so underrated and he can play anywhere and doesn’t have a superstar mentallity. Perfect for any team.

  127. GENOCYDE says:

Trade him to boston celtics..so that boston will win over Lakers

  128. Mamba dance says:

Artest prime has gone and now the lakers are left with only a defender that lately hasn’t even done that. His scoring is mediocre and if he seriously said that he should be traded then the lakers should trade him for someone with more skills on defense and scoring. The truth is any laker fan would love to see Carmelo in L.A. but that isn’t going to happen and if it did I would offer Shannon Brown, Theo Rattlif, Steve Blake and Artest just to get Melo which would be a huge diference for L.A. In this kind of deal both the lakers and the nuggets would get something in return because the lakers get another high power and high scoring guy in Melo matching the big three of Miami and Boston and the nuggets get a young highflier and scoring guy in Brown get a veteran pointguard to back up Billups in Blake, a veteran center in Rattlif to cover Nene’s multiple injuries and they get Artest whcih may be useful to defend the perimeter in which denver has had trouble. Finally this trade would make Melo happy because he would be a tittle contender and would inherit the franchise when kobe retires and Denver would get rid of an unhappy superstar and would get four hrd working and necesarry guys in return.

What do you think Sekou? Is this a Dream?

  129. jason foreman says:

Lakers need a point guard and the problem will be solved, someone quicker who can defend these young point guards that are killing them with penittation into the paint-Westbrook schooled the Lakers point guard in their last meeting and so did every other point guard. Jason Kidd who averages 8.8 points per game goes for 20 plus points against the Lakers point guards (Unheard of and embarrassing). Please ,Please Lakers GM trade for a point guard. Luke should still be worth something along with D-Fish to get a baller at the point position.
    TRUE LONG TIME LAKER FAN

  130. phooey says:

The Lakers wanted Artest primarily for his defense, although they would now have to be dissappointed with his ever declining all round game. They now have a great defensive stopper in Matt Barnes, it makes great sense to try and trade Artest, perhaps for a big for insurance on Bynum. Artest for Marc Gasol/Ibaka/Dalambert?…gives them flexibility to play Barnes or Odom at the 3.

  131. hateurlakes says:

Kobe is starting to cry and whine, like he did when he asked to be traded. Everybody is looking at the Spurs,Bulls, Heat, Magic, Thunder, Clippers and the Celtics.. Even Espen, who is so in love with him is not talking about him every 30 seconds when he play like they use to do. What he is going to do is run to his daddy David Stern and whine and cry to him. Next thing you see the Lakers makeing lots of trades. Ron Arrest is ready to go somehere, anywhere to be a basketball player again. Now Kobe calls out Gasol to play harder, what the ? Times have changed I want the NBA to start show caseing some of the new and up and coming youg players..David Sterin look at the Super Bowl, two so called small tetvison teams are playing for it all. I’m one person who haven’t looked at the NBA since Shag left the Lakers. I’m a Buck fan, butthey don’t get on tv. Untill this year when I have seen some good basketball om TBS, ABC, NBA.com and I have even seen the Bucks. Enogh of Kobe , please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  132. KYLE SHABY says:

NO i think Ron Artest should not be traded. Lakers have no defense and Ron Artest is their best defensive threat to other teams. In other words I think he shouldn’t be traded also because it not like his make the Laker lose. Pau Gasol is doing a terrable job and playing basketball and Kobe Bryant I love you mane but pass the ball. Please Please Ron Artest, Mr. Artest, Beast, and defensive players of the year don’t leave L.A.

  133. Edwin A says:

for this moment i guess they don’t need a trade.,they just have to play the way they played against boston last yr..But if they want a tarde.,gerald wallace will be a good replacement of artest. He can play good defense and offense at same time.

  134. AMIR says:

TRADE ARTEST TO UTAH JAZZ FOR ANDREY KIRILENKO”’

  135. L.T. says:

Obviously Ron doesn’t care about winning another ring, he auctioned off his first one, and if you actually read the article, he wants to play for a FUN team. Laker’s are too serious about being the best for him i guess.

  136. en says:

the lakers should trade blake barnes and artest aswell.. the lakers should trade them three and get a real good powerforward or center. after all height is something it seems the lakers lost overall this season.

  137. The Lakers are still champion until someone else come and win.And Artest had worked hard to make sure that the championship didn’t go to Boston. So, because of everything that he did during the Playoffs and particularly in Game seven of the finals, i will not trade him and i will not even think about that even if i have to bring ARIZA. He is the all best defensive player in critical moments.I am one hundred percent sure he will repeat what he did last year this year.Just give him some time.

  139. oliver says:

time for luke walton to bounce the lakers weakness right now is not ron it’s having a backup big man

  140. KOBE THE TRUE KING says:

Some of the comments I’ve read are really ridiculous. 🙂 Generally, I think if Ron wants out you let him go. Trade him for someone, and here I urge you all to be as realistic as possible… Don’t think the Lakers would be able to trade him for Melo, Nash, Igoudala or even Ariza. That’s just not gonna happen. He is not that good of a player and he is aging and getting slower… Also I think any comparison of Ron with Rodman is inadequate because Rodman was the best at what he did – REBOUNDING. And I can’t see Ron excelling in what’s supposedly his thing – perimeter defending. Take for example the Boston game from just the other day, or the Sacramento game two days earlier. From what I saw I wasn’t convinced in his first-class defending abilities, and it’s not just these two games, but the whole season. Maybe he has some psychological problems, but that’s another issue…
So, my suggestion would be to trade him together with another of the two LA bigs, preferably Bynum. Why?!? I know lot of you would disagree. I’m sorry guys, but just how much longer should we wait for him to reach his supposed potential!?! And that World Cup move, that was just stupid and selfish. Pau is not playing great as well, he is very inconsistent, his energy level is plummeting most of the time and his defense sucks. If they give away Ron with one of the two bigs (Bynum), maybe they can get one younger and better player in return and one average role player to fill the void. And here I stress that Melo is not an option, cause he’s just not right to be Kobe’s teammate. Ideally I think it should be Bynum and Ron for Okafor and Ariza from the NOH. If happens, LAL will certainly be much stronger in terms of energy, speed and defense and ready for a THREEPEAT!!! Maybe even 4 in a row… Why not!
    Go Lakers!

    • thesmooth001 says:

I like the way you think,
however that would be a huge mistake to trade them together to a team in the Western Conference,
that could come back to bite you in the rear, especially with Chris Paul on the Hornets.

  141. en says:

i think a trade would be good for lakers. how about bynum and artest for kevin durant. pau durant and odom front line is insane.

  142. Ozan says:

sekou i dont know what we need and what we get with trading ron. what can motivate lakers i know it’s hard to motivate after two rings but we want three peat for Kobe for Phil for fans and i think he will perform better in post season

  143. Afgun Baller says:

Yo i don’t know why you guys are dumb. Artest and walton should be traded for melo and forbes allong with draft picks and cash considerings. Denver wants flexibility if melo were to go and future development. artest will play better on Denver with a bigger role. Look at other teams like beasly how he played for miami along with dwayne wade and how he plays with wolves now. Artest will play better with the role as he suits with billups cause billups likes to shoot alt and denvers problem is defense. Melo wil play better with lakers as he will match whatever pierce, lebron and durant puts up and to help kobe with offense and besides the lakers issue right now is offense not defense. melo is a star so he will still have decent defense no matter waht and phil will make him realize his defense potential as a good coach and a good defensive team and if not match up in offense. Lakers need this cause all other teams have two real good stars that are not bigs like miami, boston, thunder and magic with spurs and dallas so think about it

  144. Juan Betancourt says:

That should change is Derek Fisher because doesn’t have nothing

  145. M.B. says:

Forgot about Ron-Ron, he’ll be fine. Trade Bynum!

  146. Edo Gafuri says:

The best move that can be done in the moment is to get Melo! trade Artest,Bynum,Walton and even future drafts for Anthony and any crap center just to fulfill a place in a roster.Kobe,Gasol and Melo vs. LBJ,Wade and Bosh makes sense. With this team the Lakers doesnt have much weapons in the offense and can not compete against Heat,Spurs,Celtics … so in my opinion this the most logical trade.Im sure Melo would like to play in Hollywood and also to take over when Kobe retires. LA all the Way …

  147. Anonymous says:

Ron Artest the number one best defender past and this season, so Lakers team dont need to trade him because he helps alot specially in the finals… if Lakers team trade him Kpbe cant score that much because Ronron will defend him tight. sorry for my bad english…

  148. Alex says:

I think this would be a big problems for the Lakers if he leaves. 8(

  149. iamBryan says:

The Lakers should trade Ron Artest, Andrew Bynum and Steve Blake for Hawks’ Josh Smith, Zaza Pachulia, Jeff Teague and Marvin Williams/Mo Evans.

  150. the.nelle says:

    – Lakers should concentrate how to bring back the impact of Ron Artest have when he got first in a Laker uniform.
    – Lakers should concentrate how to get a reliable frontcourt & freshleg backcourt into their team.

  151. Lakersfansince91 says:

This is just drama. I don’t think Artest will be going anywhere. If anyone should be traded it should be Bynum. What’s the use of having a big body with “potential” when he’s injured all the time? Ol’ Glass Knees’ interior defense is overrated and he’s a black hole. The offense was flowing much better before he started playing. I doubt there will be any major trade, little Jimmy Buss is too attched to Bynum. Once Matt Barnes comes back I think the Lakers will be fine. The 2nd unit has been killing the lakers becuase they really miss the energy Matt brings. LO should start. He plays much better as a starter.

  152. Nick says:

IF YOU GONNA TRADE HIM GET CARMELO ANTHONY IN THAT WOULD BE A GREAT ADDITION .. AND ALSO SHAKE UP THE NBA .. MIAMI BIG THREE PSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH… LAAAAA LAAAAAAA LAAAAAAAA THREE PEAT

  153. Olalakers says:

This is what I’ve observer during LA’s run if you can analyze the situation, The time Andrew Bynum was back on the line-up they lost more games than Andrew is not around If you ask me who needs to be traded its gonna be Andrew Bynum trade him to Grizzles and get Marc Gasol so they have the Gasol brother up front it will be a more effective than Bynum.

  154. Ginebra says:

If i am Mitch Kupchak I’ll trade Ron Artest to Nuggets for Carmelo.
Is it possible??? FYI Mr. Melo wants to play to the lakers.

  155. Heat Fan says:

Lakers is dying and will be dead next season since jakson is leaving, and am sure that kope will be crying to be traded, because he had done it before, and they shut him up by getting pau gasol.

    • thesmooth001 says:

      Hey Heat Fan,

Wasn’t D-Wade talking about walking last year if they did not get him more help.
Don’t forget recent history so fast and just be a hater just for the sake of hating ; )

  156. Elliot says:

Can’t believe the majority of people think that Artest and a draft pick will get Melo……….are you serious? what a joke.

  157. thesmooth001 says:

    Sekou,

What do you think of Artest to Cleveland for Mo Williams, Jamario Moon, Daniel Gibson or a combination of players?

I think Cleveland could absord the remaining 3 years on his contract, plus they could use his toughness. It would give them some potential leadership on the floor which they are clearly lacking, and it would free Artest up from the triangle, which does not appear to be working out for him.

I think this type of move would give Artest some of the flexibility that he appears to need, but he would have to understand that he would definitely not be winning nearly as much. I’d bet Byron Scott would be willing to take the chance about right now if he had the option, anything has to be better than the path that they are currently on.

Plus, I think the Lakers would benefit by getting any or a combination of the players above: Mo Williams can make 3’s and run the offense, Gibson makes big shots & plays D, and Moon could possibly feel that role that Trevor used to fill.

    What do you think?

  158. hector D says:

Bynum, Artest for paul And Ariza

  159. DEANO says:

I will trade walton, artest and bynum for melo. bynum is always hurt, walton gives little contribution and artest is aging.

  160. BullsFan22 says:

But now they won’t have a clutch rebounder and the the offensive thret ‘decoy’ at their disposal! I guess that was that for Artest. Win a ring as fast as you can and then just play out the rest of your days wherever they will pay you the most and you’ll be one of the leaders. I guess it’s not a bad move by him, all things considered.

  161. hawkins says:

I believe Lakers definitely need a trade. The best basketball that ever played the game still needs 4 others with who he can play with – and want the more titles as much as he does. And Kobe will have 7 before he retires.
If you compare Lakers for example from last year you can see that they were clearly the underdog when it comes to player names (contracts).
    Who should they trade?
    All of these easily:
ANDREW BYNUM – the future of LAL? Yes if he was made of solid body structure and not glass!
STEVE BLAKE – Man that’s the worst thing they have brought this season. He should help Fisher save the energy for the final minutes but (he can’t defend anyone in the league).
RON ARTEST(he is a decent defender (in PJ case he looks on him like DR kind of type of guy), but he moves like a boxer – rather than basketball payer) And for people who think RA saved LA last year (he wouldn’t have had to – if he didn’t screw it up). If he didn’t do – we would be talking about all the stupid (D-grade basketball mistakes)
LUKE WALTON – he should start running on his free time again (and start eating something else than junk food). He had potentiality to be a good player (now looks like he’s 50)
These can just retire (and they will after this season):
    Theo Ratliff, Joe Smith,
For the rookies I can’t really judge them (haven’t played much). But based on body structure of DC (he needs a dietary trainer as well as start running).
Next post will be on who should they bring! In 10 minutes 🙂

  162. moemoe says:

Hey Sekou if the Lakers do decide to trade Artest who do you think they should trade for him?

  163. kambam says:

Trading Artest for Melo is not gonna happen man..

  164. kambam says:

I don’t think this trade is required..

  165. Michael S says:

no screw all this artest trade talk, SAS should just trade chris quinn for blake griffin and larry owens & bonner for durant & westbrook lol are use guys actually serious, cause Denver is just gonna trade their franchise for an old perimeter defender & a bunch of even older add-ons lol

  166. Wushu says:

I Think if the lakers want to trade Artest..they should trade him for tayshaun prince.. nba champ + a lot of postseason experience.. and prince can be used on a small ball as a 4 on lakers ..as he can play wth the triangle offence well..

  167. kjkk says:

wow now i know for sure the lakers are gonna steal melo

  168. Slum Slemy Slem says:

Trade Artest to the Nuggets for Melo!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Peter M. Arel says:

KEEP ARTEST ON THE MOVE ALL THE TIME. IT’S BETTER TO MOVE A MALCONTENT AROUND THAN TO KEEP HIM. IF YOU KEEP HIM OTHER PLAYERS WILL ALSO ASK TO BE TRADED SO IT’S BETTER TO TRADE ARTEST THAN LOSE THE OTHER PLAYERS ON THE TEAM.

  169. asdf says:

i must add, if the lakers are to trade artest, after crash, there are still better players mentioned above, like tayshaun prince (heck of addition as well) or andre iguodala

  170. pedro24 says:

    artest for melo!

  171. asdf says:

crash to LA? wow if kupchack can pull that one out, he’ll be my hero. Lakers would absolutely win a three-peat with Gerald Wallace on the SF. maannn but i think we don’t have enough good things that jordan would like… but still it would be good if it happens, try kupchak! Crash to LAL!

  172. JOHN says:

ron isn’t even good thats all, that was a pure luck game in game 7 whatup.

  173. Chris O says:

Artest denies reports of him wanting a trade and he should stay. Even though his defense is declining, it’s still much better than half of the other players around the league. As for offense, it could be better but the Lakers have Bryant, Gasol, Odom, Bynum, and even Barnes (when healthy) as scoring options before him. Carmelo Anthony is a great player, yes, but his defense is mediocre and its arguable as to whether or not he would fit in the triangle offense. All the Lakers need is a point guard who can stay in front of the quicker guards and spot up at a high percentage. I think many are over reacting to the Lakers’ woes. Everyone seems to be forgetting the fact that the “too old” Celtics took the Lakers to a Game 7 as the 4 seed in the East and 9 seed overall.

  174. ron artest bynum and luke walton for carmelo anthony denver would do it because it gives them big time potential with bynum and toughness with artest plus artest can return to the post like he likes to play in. this gives jr and billups more offensive looks pus they still have kenyon and ne ne. The lakers need to understand they will not win this year the way the team is currenty contructed. kobe has clearly lost a step if you dont admit this you arent real Kobe is getting shut down by defenders that have no business shutting him down his dunks are down almost 70% his knees are shot imagine having carmelo over there to pick up the slack plus him and kobe are close. the lakers would win another title then you have a great shot at signing carmelo his wife’s name is lala isnt it (LA LA)

  175. Marc says:

I totally agree, if he wants to leave let him, he wont be playing with the pasion we need him to if he doesnt want to be there. what is wrong with Kobe mello, bring a new flavour to the Lakers, give a bit more of a front court presence. would love to see anthony & kobe together!!

  176. rapido ratrat says:

save artest for now he can be used in a trade for dwight howard in 2012…artest,bynum and walton for howard

  177. MambaVenum says:

Artest for another rocket Shane Battier, he can knock down the corner three, is more athletic, hes an intelligent player so he can learn the triangle quickly, and can defend maybe not as well as ron but close. And blake for nash i love that idea.

  178. diamond1985 says:

i think this is all being blown way out of proportion. ron artest came to the lakers to not just become a world champion but to also grow as an nba player. there is absolutely no way that he is asking for a trade in my opinion. the lakers are going through a tough time this season and everyone is a bit annoyed, so therefore the critics have to make a ruckus about any little thing in order to shake things up. in a way it might be helpful for the lakers, maybe they can wake up and push that spring time “on button” a little earlier this year. all in all, ron artest is still playing well, by looking at his stats anyone can see that even though he has lost 6 min. of pt from last year his numbers still are solid. he’s a player that impacts the game no matter what the numbers are. he’s a new age anthony mason or charles oakley, the enforcer with a skill to score.

  179. char says:

Lakers should go after T-mac trade away Ron Artest

  180. Oula says:

Ron was huge in game 7 of the 2010 finals but this season he seems to be lost. The guys he is guarding have been taking it to him. Rudy Gay (28 easy points), LeBron multiple wide open 3s, and Paul Pierce was having a field day last sunday and many others…. People deserve a second chance for redemption, I think Ron, Luke Walton and Steve Blake need to take a good look at themselves in the mirror improve on some aspect(s) of their game. I am not worried about Fisher since he shows up in the playoffs.

Gasol has to play better!!!!!!!!!!! I have seen him play SOFT on many times. Sometimes when Phil takes Kobe out of the game for rest purposes, he (Pau) still gets the ball deep in the paint and either turns it over or passes it to another player for a low %age 3-point shot. The guy needs to play as the a 2nd option guy on the team.

Great Job this year by Odom, Kobe, Shannon, Bynum and Matt.

    Good luck LAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  181. miami says:

look they can trade anyone they want but they have to keep gasol ..odom and brown ofcourse kobe still gonna be there, cause i think lakers wont win without odom help kobe can have 30 poitn and gasol 20 if lamar is not playin u can forget the lakers, and if they trade artest who gonna guard lebron if u put kobe on wade. come one now i just think lakers dont have to trade no one they just have to play hard there last 3 game there playin like they dont want it bad enaugh

  182. LANDIM says:

    GERALD WALLACEEEEEEEEEEE

  183. Sheed says:

Doesnt make a difference if they trade him or not. The Lakers aint winning no more titles.

  184. Wrong Artest says:

I think I’d rather trade Luke Walton, whose so good in sitting on the bench and giving hi-fives or chest bumps! He’s got good hands in clapping too! He looks good in suit than in wearing a Laker jersey. Bring in Battier or West.

  185. Ao1 says:

Trade Gasol because he can’t play “D.” He’s too soft. Wouldn’t even challenge a guard’s lay-up in front of him.!! Just joking. Don’t trade him. Not even Ron either. They just need to focus on their “D.” Lakers struggling with their “D” and being consistent.

  186. Lakerzzz says:

    Ron = MELO/ARIZA

  187. duuma says:

it doesn’t matter whether ron gets traded or not, it won’t make much of a difference. He’s one little problem to the whole big problem. Laker fans need to start realizing that the reason the lakers are not as good as last year is NOT because they don’t have the motivation, but it’s because many of their key veteran players are getting older, which equals lower productivity. Kobe’s game, as expected, is on the downward path of his career; fischer is no longer the same defender for the last 2 seasons, and gasol is not as good as people thinks he is (ie. sunday game vs boston). Lakers would be lucky to be ranked #3 at the end of the season since it’s the first half of the season have been mostly against weaker teams, and we all know they have bad records against the better teams in the league. I doubt that they had no motivation against the spurs, the heat, and the celtics. They are just older and slower, plain and simple.

  188. Just an Idea says:

Hey Sekou, could you answer me this Q:

What do you think about a trade, sending RonRon to the Pistons and getting RIP Hamilton instead…?

I mean, Ron dude, I love you as a player, but rumors like that do not come from somewhere…you seem to have said some bs somewhere and now people are again all about you….I am a psychologist myself, you if you need help 😀 jk man, though I really am a Psychologist 😉

What about this trade? Makes sense for lala?

  189. andrea says:

I think that Mitch is just scaring the Lakers and by doing so, the Lakers will be motivated again. Do you guys really think that Ron Artest will be out of L.A. anytime soon? I mean, come on! He is the best defender the Lakers has! (though he is kind of bad in offense with the triangle)

  190. Chicky says:

I think it’s mainly a media-circus but every history has its truth – even a little bit.

The Lakers shouldn’t force a trade … but if there’s a chance for a good trade to bring new energy to the team, they should prove the possibility. But don’t do something just to do anything. It must make sense! If there isn’t such a deal possible keep Artest and push him back to the limit … there’s still enough fuel in the tank for another championship in anyone of the Lakers.

Even if I don’t want to see the Lakers celebrate again.

  191. rkv says:

trade him for deron williams. lakers need a third scorer and a better pg already

  192. BIG VIC says:

IM A HUGE ARTEST FAN, LAKES REALLY NEED TO THINK ABOUT IT. THEY NEED TO GET HIM MORE INVOLVED IN THE OFFICE, DRAW PLAYS FOR HIM. YOU ALL SEE HOW GREAT HE PLAYED AGAINS DENVER, HES A MONSTER IN THE POST. EVEN THOUGHT THE LAKERS PLAY THE TRIANGLE OFFENSE, ARTEST IS NOT A CUTTER NOR SLASHER. THEY NEED TO GET HIM IN THE POST & RUN THE OFFENSE THRU HIM SOMETIMES.

  193. ShowTime says:

The best trade possible to make the lakers even better than wat they already are is give away artest he dont want in wit the lakers ne nore so how is that suppose to workout? give out artest, walton, fisher n draft picks for melo its a win win for everyone i mean the nuggets are gonna loose melo either might as well get something than nothing not only that but melo would love to come to LA his wife lives here & this is LA every1 wants to be here! melo is lookin for a ring come to the lakers 1st yr u’ll get ur ring just ask artest…byeeee artest helloooo melooooo!!!!!

  194. Caolan says:

Trade Artest he too cocky his best days are behind him and they were in kings association i would to see him gone to either 76ers or Knicks reason why 76ers try to get Young and New york maybe try to get Gallinari But it not up to me it up to Lakers Association But i really hope they can move it before deadline because dont want him to ruined the spirit for the others
members for team and dont forget this one hopefully for PHIL.
    Peace out

  195. ian says:

ICE POGI i’m from the philippines also.:D You’re tight that MJ didn’t blame Rodman but look at there difference. Rodman is a great rebounder! It’s ok for Artest not to score but atleast he should avreage more than 5 rebounds and more than 2 steals. Lakers got him becuase of his defense but look at what he’s doing now. Cannot even get the boards. Rodman is a Smart player, he will not take shots if he’s not sure that it will get in. He always passes the ball and Rodman is not spotting up. He always do the screen job for Pippen and MJ. Unlike Artest that for the whole offense that he will be standing behing the 3pt line and not do anything but wait for the ball. Come on man! You’re numbers and FG% are down. ATLEAST DO SOMETHING TO BE USEFUL TO YOUR TEAM! Rodman knew that it doesn’t matter if he can’t score and help his team on the rebounding are. Look at Artest now. He’s not doing any good. I;m doubtful that he’s doing his best. If Artest is at his best Pierce couldn’t score 30+ pts. He’s sensitive and it’s affecting his game. Rember what Kobe after the Game 7? “My shots wouldn’t go in, so I need to do everything to contribute to the team” He did everything on that game that’s why he notched 15 REBOUNDS! and he’s only a guard. Watch the Game 7 again. You’re going to see Kobe throwing his body just to grab a rebound. Unlike Artest that he’s not doing anything as of now. My advice to Artest is to be his old self again. Don’t be so sensitive stay focus on the court and do everything that you can to help your team. GRAB REBOUNDS!! STEAL SOME ROCKS!!

  196. bla bla says:

i think lakers are not going to win this year and they should trade artest TO THE MIAMI HEAt

  197. LALALAL says:

If the goal for Melo is wining he would go to the Lakers for a nicle in a hearbeat but do you think that Kobe and Melo could function, i mean Lakers do need a phisical player but Kobe needs the ball to be Kobe or he is just another player (no one wants to pay Kobe to be a 20 points 4 assist guy). LAKERS NEED A PLAYMAKER at this point any will do because Fisher an Blake arent producing but do you think that Lakers will function without their true leader in and out of the courtroom (didnt think so) an Wallton whitch they cept injured so you dont have many options for trade unless they involve the 100 + centers that they have brought, the youngsters , Ron-Ron and last and definitely least Blake. Whith all thing considered they could get nash for Blake ant Ebanks And Carracter (if the Suns are to trade Nash and they would do that for him because that will be his shot for the title) but are the Lakers willing to give up their future when Kobe, Pau and Odom leave because.. I’m not an analist but i dont see the trade here but next year most definitely.

  198. ricardo says:

    trade Artest 4 CARMELO ANTHONY

  199. GFUS says:

Lakers should get back Trevor Ariza and get rid of Ron Ron!!!

  200. ian says:

Me again. 😀 peace guys.. not a laker lover here but a basketball lover. Trade Bynum for someone. This Big Fella has a Big Ego. Trade Bynum for Oden. Oden, has bad luck but I think he can contribute to the Lakers Club more than bynum. Bynum doesn’t have the defense like Oden and Bynum can easily score and that’s becuase of Pau and Kobe. Bynum is not the Main foucs of the defense but he oftenly injured his knee. I think if Oden is going to be traded to the Lakers he will not have any injury the same as he was in Portland since, he’s almost doing everything there unlike in Lakers land that he’s going to have all the help he needs. PAU,ODOM,RATLIFF AND BARNES. Bynum is just OVERRATED!!

  201. BLACK MAMBA #1 says:

it would be so nice to get steve nash!

  202. OKCchampsOKC says:

    Gerald Wallace
    A.I
    Ariza
    Josh Smith
    Nicolas Batum
    Shane Battier

    Lebron wouldnt be bad either

  203. ian says:

Artest is a great guy, a great player but if the Lakers wants to win a championship they should trade him. Main reason: He can’t contribute because his mind is not on the game. His mind is always floating. He’s so sensitive !!! I would love to trade Ron-Ron for Caron Buttler.. That will be possible cause they’re almost the same age and Mavs might want him since they need to have defensive stopper like Ron-Ron and Caron will be best fir in LA since he’s the best budd of Kobe. Come to think of this Both teams will benefit on this trade. Tyson Chandler needs help and Artest is the best guy for the Mavs since the mavs doesn’t have a defensive stopper, and Caron will be better in LA. Lakers will surely miss Artest because Caron doesn’t have the level of Artest’s defense but Butler will be more than useful for Lakers. He can be a spot up shooter and he can also play physical (not like artest) but Kobe is a defensive stopper too and barnes is also a great defender. Mavs might consider this since they have alot of fire power, I mean they have alot of scorers on their team. Stevenson,Terry,Marion,PEJA STOJAKOVIC (He’s old but he’s a threat on the 3pt line),Barea(Small but can score anytime if he wants too) Especially Dirk. This Mavs team has been a great offensive player for a decade but their defense is poor, so this is their chance if they really want to go all the way. This will be a fair trade. I would love to see Ariza on that purple and gold Uniform again but there’s no chance that NOH will trade him. Also trade blake for vujacic. It was a big mistake for the Lakers to trade The Machine. OR trade BLAKE+RON to CARON+BAREA. or trade blake to young PG that has confidence. Blake is a great point guard but he’s attitude is not a Laker one. He doesn’t have the guts to take shots becuase he’s afraid that the blame will be on him. That’s the true.

    • Peter M. Arel says:

The Lakers WILL, INDEED, BE AN EVEN BETTER TEAM WITHOUT METTA WORLD WAR!THE LAKERS NEED PLAYERS
WHO REALLY ARE TEAM PLAYERS AND THEY NEED RULES AND PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION OF THOSE RULES
THAT WILL KEEP SHOWBOATING CELEBRATIONS BY METTA WORLD WAR TO A MINIMUM! SHOWBOATING ON THE
FOOTBALL FIELD SHOULD ALSO RESULT IN THE OFFENDING PLAYER BEING KICKED OFF THE TEAM NO
      QUESTIONS ASKED!

  204. justin says:

unless the Lakers can get D.Howard for Artest+Bynum, it’s better not to trade any key players.
Although there are some reports that Howard wants to come to LA sometime in the future, I doubt it and MAGIC wouldn’t be that dumb to trade the best center in the league for Bynum+Artest package.
Just get Hinrich from Washington for Sasha Trade exception+filler.

  205. kobe24 says:

lakers are doing fine…they just need more aggressiveness and motivation. I still believe on the LAKERS…i will not blame anyone on the team or saying that artest should be traded…we must believe on them coz in the end of the day LAKERS will still be the champ!! 🙂

  206. andy says:

trade ron ron for rashard lewis

  207. jay says:

yo if LA trades Ron Artest they wont win another championship plain and simple…

  208. LuisjaPR says:

    Meeloooooo! Meeelooooo!

  209. Lebron James says:

Ron is a valuable player but he will not work effectively in Miami…still he will limit his time there. He should play to New York Knicks and he will help Amare very well.

  210. Rookie98 says:

I think the Lakers have taken nights yes! I do not thnk it is any one players fault or any one player should be held responsible. If a trade or has Mitch calls them an oppourtunity to get a player , do be it . Do not just trade to shake up the team. The team is way to expeirence for that. I looked at what the other teams had we needed and what we had they needed ,”not good” We are really just wating until Bynum and Barnes heal. The one trade we did make Sasha for old end of the bench Joe Smith did not help us at all!

  211. Ollie says:

I’ve never been a huge fan of Artest myself, i think the best option is trade. His game doesnt fit with the finesses of Kobe and Pau, regardless of his defensive ability is it really worth the endless technicals and pointless arguing? Trade him somewhere he may fit in better and bring in a man that can compliment and facilitate Kobe, Pau and Drew. I was against the the trade that brought Artest over anyway because he plays the game like a brute whereas Ariza is a much more skillful and intellegent player. Try and find another guy like him and let Kobe and Phill go to work. In my personal opinion Ron thought i’ll pop out to L.A for a season, grab a ring and then go back to being my usual argumentative self. Thats not a real Laker, and neither is Ron!

    • Blah says:

@ Ollie, how can you say that his game doesnt fit with the finesses of kobe and pau..didn’t they just win a ring last year…I think your overreacting to the situation. And stop with this bring Ariza back..he’s not coming back to the Lakers, why would the Hornets trade with the Lakers so that they can become a better team.At this point no team wants to trade with the Lakers and help them win a 3rd ring. And whats with this “Ron is not a real Laker cause he is argumentative.” Kobe argues all the time with the refs. That comment doesnt make sense.

And why would denver trade melo for artest..ppl need to look at a trade from the other teams perspective..cause denver would never go for that deal..besides melo does not play defense as well as artest and thats what LA would need if they trade artest..someone who could play D while able to extend the court hitting the 3-point shot.

    • stumpanotta says:

TRADE RON ARTEST AND BYNUM FOR KEVIN LOVE, AND A PLAYER TO BE NAME LATER, PERFER A BIG MAN.THAT WOULD MOVE GASOL TO CENTER, WITH KEVIN LOVE PLAYING POWER FORWARD IT’S MAKES THEM BETTER, BYNUM IS MY MAN BUT HE NEEDSTO BE ON ATEAM WERE HE IS THE GO TO GUY

  213. fagabag says:

while you’re at it trade Ratliff for Griffin
    Caracter for Durant
    Ebanks for Rose
    Luke Walton for his dad
and Joe Smith for a piece of pretzel or a prosthetic knee for Bynum

  214. Mr.LOVAMON SHABBAAA!! says:

Yall are dumb , some of yall sound like yall dont even watch basketball , Damn idiots talking about trading Ron for Igoudala or Carmelo , Who the hell is giving up their superstar to 2 TIME CHAMPIONS for Ron Artest ????????? And I bet no team wants to see them 3 peat , JERKS

  215. Classick says:

Ron Artest will be better if hes not playing next to Kobe. Hes gonna be more confident and aggressive. I liked him out in houston when they pushed the lakers to a long series in the playoffs. Once they face him after trading him Rons one off those guys you will wish was on your side.

  216. Funky_Axl says:

If Ron Artest wants a trade then trade him,if not then trade ebanks,Bynum ,caracter and a draft pick for Melo.
I think it’s a good deal for Denver at this moment.

Also it would be a good idea to trade Derek Fisher who’s time has come after this season, so why wastin’ precious time?

Trade Fisher – Walton and a draft pick for Devin Harris.

Also it would be a good deal to get Gerald Wallace for Ron Artest

    Sekou what do you think?

A Laker fan fan from Greece.

  217. Nick says:

    Mgrady with lakers.

  218. The Real says:

Wow you people talk as if you heard yourself from his own mouth that he wanted a trade and then through a bunch of dumb Idea’s out there like it’s the best move for the team. I mean they’re in second place in the west, if they were 6th or 7th then I would understand. They will figure it out I mean they are the two time defending champions and when it’s playoff time I’m sure they will be focus and ready to win. I’ve been a Laker fan for along time and I’m not worried one bit or do I questioned there ability to win another championship with the players they have!!!

  219. KM says:

    aging malcontent = trade

  220. Jack says:

ARIZA is the man. Lakers wishin they never made the trade and paid the man what he was due. oh well now live and learn. How about those CLIPPERS!!

    • Wait a minute says:

Dude they won a championship, and they’re second in the west, i’m pretty sure they’re doing fine. Clippers are the most exciting team in the NBA to watch, but are going no where if they can’t stay healthy and bring in at least one more good veteran like Hamilton.

      • Peter M. Arel says:

Can somebody please tell me if the LAKERS ARE DONE FOR THE SEASON? Because if they are
they have the perfect excuse to rid themselves of METTA WORLD WAR, NO MATTER HOW MUCH
TIME HE STILL HAS LEFT ON HIS CONTRACT! I HOPE THAT THE NEXT TEAM STUPID ENOUGH
TO SIGN METTA WORLD WAR IS SMART ENOUGH TO PROTECT ITSELF AGAINST METTA WORLD WAR
BY SIGNING HIM TO A CONTRACT FOR NEXT TO NOTHING WITH ENOUGH STRINGS ATTACHED
TO MAKE HIM BAIL ON THE TEAM WITHOUT EVEN SIGNING THE CONTRACT!

  221. Zane Angelo says:

Anybody think of Melo-mania? Why is it such a crime for anyone to consider a Kobe/Melo team. The Lakers arent getting younger, and if Kobe really wants another two rings he’s going to need some young allstar help (Gasol is also not getting younger). Melo would not only create a new group of Superfriends on the west coast he would be the extrapoints/umph the Lakers need to push out teams that have been beating them recently. Like Miami and Boston. Plus, if Kobe doesnt mind sharing some points, do you really think Melo wouldnt like the sound or idea of being a Laker?

  222. awesomeman says:

It seems some Lakers fans are airheads to be honest. But they have an imagination.

The greatest trade ever would be Artest for Carmelo?

Yeah, in the Lakers fan’s point of view. Those salaries dont even match up, and keep in mind most teams want at least 13 players at all time. Denver WILL NOT trade to a team in the West. Carmelo would have to sign with them.

And who the heck is saying Steve Blake for Nash would happen? Suns would NOT do that to Nash, and Blake is merely an aging roleplayer, not a pointguard-of-the-future player. Only place Nash might get traded to is Atlanta, perhaps maybe even Charlotte. However that could lead to Mike Bibby going to LA, which he certainly is mediocre, but better than Blake.

  223. Ice Pogi says:

First of all Artest is defender not a scorer… They give up Ariza for a better Defender… That’s Artest JOB. Shooting the ball was KOBE’s job… That’s why they get Artest so that KOBE can concentrate of offense and loosen up on his D. Putting defensive pressure on other team’s scorer… That was his primary objective… SOME people blame Artest co’z he sucks on 3’s
They should blame KOBE… co’z that his duty… to score…

Did MJ blame RODMAN for not scoring???? No co’z MJ knew that rebounding was RODMAN’s first objective… Same as Artest… He’s a defender not a scorer…

When Kobe have a bad shooting day he blames his teammates … GASOL, ARTEST ODOM wow what kind of leader was that….

when MIAMI lose a game they blame no one but themselves..they regroup….and move on……

  224. Carlo says:

Also ariza is a player trying to “find” himself and i think he’s doing dat wit the hornets…and as long as chris paul and david west lead them i don’t think he’s leaving.

  225. Kobe Bryant says:

    Ron is not getting traded.

  226. BEEFLA says:

KEEP HIM. HES GOOD DOWN THE STRETCH. HES JUST WAITING FOR THE PLAYOFFS. GOOD PLAYERS DO THAT. HE MAKES ODOM BETTER TOO. IF THEY TRADE HIM THEY BETTER GET SOME BAD ASS DIFFERENCE. AGE DOESNT MATTER. LOOK AT SHAQ.

    • Peter M. Arel says:

  227. Carlo says:

I think ron should stay…HE JUST HAS TO WORK ON HIS GAME SOME MORE(TRIANGLE OFFENSE).I think he just needs to trust in himself and earn the trust of his teammates back…also people should stop bringing up walton, ebanks and character’s names.those players were made for the triangle offense.what do you think sekou?

  228. 8675309 says:

NOT POSSIBLE!!! but good for the lakers if the celtics are dumb enough

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=4gqjoxf

  229. Funny guy says:

artest , blake , shannon for steve nash !!!!!!!

  230. Valery says:

This is all so interesting to watch, I don`t think Melo could be acquired that easy as many of you believes.
They want too much for Melo and they want some one not too old, considering this Ron not the one.
I want this trade but this is a dream for me.
Second you cant hold Ron if his mind want out so trade must be done, but who who is equal hard to guess.

  231. MIKE says:

WELL, NOT TO BE RUDE BUT WHATEVER WORKS OUT BEST FOR THE LAKERS I WILL GO WITH. IN ALL HONESTY RON HAS BEEN VERY INCONSISTENT ALTHOUGH I APPLAUD HIS EFFORTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS FROM LAST SEASON. WE ALL CAN’T BLAME RON FOR EVERYTHING THAT ARE WRONG WITH THE LAKERS THIS SEASON. EXCLUDING ODOM, KOBE AND TO A LESSER EXTENT PAUL, THE LAKERS HAS BEEN UNDER-ACHIEVING IN MY OPINION. JUST IMAGINE IF THEY WERE NOT LOSING GAMES TO INFERIOR TEAMS THAT THEY SHOULD BE BEATING EASILY.
IF RON DECIDES TO LEAVE OR MITCH DECIDES TO PULL THE PLUG ON RON AS WELL AS OTHER PLAYERS, I GREATLY HOPE IT IS FOR THE BEST FOR THE LAKERS AND ITS FANS. WHO WILL BE BEST FIT? YOUNG LEGS, TALENTED OFFENSIVELY+DEFENSIVELY AND TEAM PLAYER. WHOSOEVER FITS WITHIN THIS CATEGORY IS MY BEST PICK. DO THIS QUICKLY MITCH BECAUSE THE NEW PLAYER WILL NEED TO GRASP THE TRIANGLE OFFENSIVE, DEFENSE AND MOST IMPORTANT DEVELOP THE COHESIVENESS WITH THE OTHER PLAYERS.

  232. CARTER71185 says:

yo sekou do u think Andre Iguadola would be a perfect fit for the lakers ?

  233. sheldon says:

how about Ron Artest Andrew Bynum Luke Walton for Rudy Gay Marc Gasol

  234. Michael Burgos says:

He’s going no where… He’s fatter and slower than previous years, and his defenses is not even close to what it was. LA shouldn’t swap Ariza for Artest, Ariza was a better fit for the slow and old Lakers. The lakers can use a SF like, Melo, Prince, Kirilenko or Ariza but they have nothing to offer to get those players, no expiring contracts and nobody they want to trade for them is worthy……. But let’s dream a little bit, Ebanks, Artest, Walton and a second roud pick for Melo migth be just perfect for the lakers….. jajajaja

  235. Tj_V7 says:

trade Ron…… it would be easier for boston and OKC to pwn them

  236. Andre says:

You guys need to get back on earth.

You are suggesting every single team will be willing to give away their stars to get back old players or tier 3 players.

Who would give Iguodala, J-Smoove, Melo? To get Blake, Artest, Walton. Come on.

  237. Tim Donaghyhelps la says:

sorry la fakers bandwagon fans but there is no Tim Donaghy to bail you out. blaiming ron ha ha he is the only reason you guys won last year.

  238. Dwayne Wade says:

i think they should trade artest and shannon brown for steve nash! Sekou?

  239. KrushGroovin says:

As a die-hard Laker fan, I must say that Ron Ron ain’t going nowhere!!! Besides the fact that right now his trade value is lower than mine,(and i play in a 30 and up league on Tuesdays…..hamstrings permitting) he’s not going to leave LA…and go where to do what? Everybody’s a little frustrated in Laker Land, but this team has yet to operate at 100% this season…when everyone gets healthy and Kobe starts to get hungry again, all will be fine…Can you say 3peat?….But on another note, a trade that needs to be made in my opinion is between Denver and Miami. If I were the Heat, I would look to move Bosh, thats right, Bosh…and Arroyo or Chalmers to Denver for Chauncy Billups. The Heat need a clear floor general to control the unorganized chaos that they call an offense. Nuggets are going to lose Melo eventually, so they might as well start re-tooling now. Im just saying……..

  240. Kevin says:

If anything I dont want a trade. Artest hasnt proven to me he has deserved a trade. I think hes capable to average at least 15 ppg. He gets touches, he just doesnt capitalize on his oppurtunities. But if a trade has to happen, some options i suggest are:
Artest for a guy like troy murphy in NJ maybe
Artest for Tayshaun Prince or Rip Hamilton
Artest/ bynum or gasol for carmelo and maybe nene (dont know how the numbers would play out, might have to throw a theo ratliff in there maybe)

  241. IDONTCARE says:

why dont you trade (KOBE),(RON)and(?) for (LEBRON) and (DWAINE)..much better..waaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  242. […] This post was mentioned on Twitter by André Concer Silva, Nana Yaw Apea-Kubi. Nana Yaw Apea-Kubi said: http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2011/02/02/artest-wants-out/?ls=iref:nbahpt1 .. THANK God they are talking about this enough is enough […]

  243. kobez says:

    I find this hilarious….

He can’t take the LOSING? Players on teams like Cleveland(L21 in a row) and Toronto(L12) should complain about losing….

Im sorry, I am a Lakers fan, and I do not like losing, but at 34-15, i dont think they should be hitting any panic button….

  244. DANITO ZANZABAR says:

trade artest for igudala or for tayshuan prince , they can give defense but they are better offensive players than artest.

  245. shey says:

Sekou, i’d like your opinion on this. artest hasn’t gv the lakers much this season and yes championship fatigue is real . what about a trade of atest and walton for Tayshawn Prince , a long athletic defender type will make the lakers really long Tay can guard a pierce he is left handed as well can guard a ginobil he is also from LA and that infusion could galvanize this squad and also i feel we need an athletic back up point guard we need FARMAR back .. he is far more athletiic than blake.

  246. LAKERS says:

    OK
    ARTEST FOR LAMARCUS ALDRIDGE!!
    wat do u think sekou?
then blake and walton for nash with draft pick

  247. Jeb says:

Melo’ and Chauncey to L.A. along with another player such as Harrington for Artest, Barnes, Ebanks or Character, and maybe Fisher or Blake

    • Pete says:

“Melo’ and Chauncey to L.A. along with another player such as Harrington for Artest, Barnes, Ebanks or Character, and maybe Fisher or Blake”

Or how about you just trade:
      – Luke Walton for Carmello
      – Blake for Chris Paul
      – Joe Smith for Amare Stoudemire
      – Ron Artest for Dwight Howard
      – Draft pick for Dwayne Wade

This way you can have an All Star team in LA, and can bring Kobe and Gasol off the bench!!

Seriously, some of th esuggestions coming out in this thread are absolutely rediculous…

      Chauncey Billups for Derek Fisher??
      Carmello for Artest??
      Stevfe Blake for Steve Nash???

Do you guys not realise how absolutely rediculous these trade suggestions actually are?

  248. JD says:

Trade him to the Pistons for Hamilton. The day has come when is more fun to watch the clippers… Please trade Fisher too, the hole is in the back court defense… it suck…

  249. lukasoln says:

man, i like him alot but if he really wants to leave let him go.. we can get some good players in x-change for him.
maybe lakers can get ariza back , that would be good or maybe Andre Iguadola..i dont know.. i just want lakers to win another championschip xD
and i belive they can do it WITH or WITHOUT Artest

  250. Sam says:

Why on earth would Denver take Artest, Walton etc for their franchise player? Especially considering Artest has 4 years left on a pretty sizeable contract, and the tendency for Ron to just go missing on offense, makes no sense for Denver at all. LA will not get Carmelo, get it out of your head.

Plus it wouldn’t be that good for LA either, Ron is still one of the best perimiter defenders in the league, Melo doesn’t play D. Also, Melo is another, high usage, alpha-dog type scorer, not exactly going to sit well in the confines of the offense with him and Kobe is it?

Artest will be staying in LA, no one is going to want that contract.

  251. LAKERS says:

TRADE ARTEST FOR MELO with draft pick offer
and blake and walton for nash
    those two offers!
    what do u think Sekou?

    • Sekou Smith says:

No way I’m trading him in the West if I’m the Lakers. And if I’m Denver, Ron-Ron and that stuff won’t get it for Melo!

      • alessandroempire says:

i dont get it sekou, why not?

its not that bad of a trade. carmelo wants to be in a championship team: thats the lakers. from my point of view artest is not having a good season. and if carmelo can assume a secondary role, i am sure he could help the lakers.

i am sure the lakers and denver could work something out.

  252. CARTER71185 says:

LMAO!! smh did this guy say josj powell really ? smh

  253. Ray says:

they should trade artest, and Bynum, for Mello and a draft pick

  254. beber says:

Well well well … Less than 10 points an 3 boards a game … Artest collects 8 pts and less than 3 boards in almost 27 minutes while Matt Barnes had almost 8 points an 5 boards in 20 minutes before getting injured …
Not sure Artest si still a pittbull in defense as I’m almost sure he’s no more motivated to play for the Lakers since he has a champion ring …
Trading him ? Where ? Who would like to get a player like him ? Perhaps the Mavericks, (for who ?) why not the Bobcats (Boris Diaw or Gerald Wallace?) the Pistons (Prince) or the Jazz (Kirilenko) … or Nash in a multi-trade player (not sure but … lol)

The perfect deal for the lakers could be Kirilenko : a great defensive player with a good ball handling / passing

Quite dissapointing season for Artest …

  255. The English based Laker says:

We all know what Ron-Ron can do, on his day he can be one of the best defensive players in the NBA….FACT! But in my opinion there seems to be a trust issue with allowing Ron to have the ball, and trusting him to make ‘big’ shots.
Lets rewind to the Play-off’s 2010 against The Suns is a perfect reminder with 21seconds left on the clock and Ron goes for the three, misses giving The Suns the all important possession (apologies if I don’t talk ‘american basketball talk’, I’m English who simply loves the game, but confess that I know little about the game compared to others) Had he had hit the three it would of been another story and the shot would be folklore. As it is he won the game for The Lakers in a emotional 0.2SECS on the clock rebound shot.

Lets fast forward to this season. Ron has been a shadow of the former self of 2009-2010, and has cut a lonely shadow at times. We know he can be a enigmatic character but to me he seems alone…..

Some question if he’s yet to grasped the triangle offensive? The Lakers are a tight nit team and place alot of trust upon one another.

For me The lakers have missed Trevor Ariza, and to cut along story short maybe Artest should move on and one day become a journey man of many clubs.

Thanks for reading my first ever post.

  256. Lebron James says:

Ron-Ron is becoming the scapegoat for this team. He was a heavy asset to the Lakers and clinch game 7 does that count for something?

    • QuestionMark says:

Actually he was just an asset in Game 7, no where else. Artest just jacked up shots last Playoffs, like against Pheonix, a few seconds left, he jacks up a 3 when he was struggling. If Gasol hadnt tipped that miss by Kobe in, they were done for. I think trading him for a decent defender and a consistent scorer will be a better help in the Playoffs then Artest.

    • Peter M. Arel says:

And I would say that METTA WORLD WAR IS GETTING THE PUNISHMENT HE DESERVES! HE SHOULD BE SCAPE-
GOATED UNTIL HE CAN NO LONGER PLAY EFFECTIVE BASKETBALL! HIS ELBOW WAS USED AS A LETHAL
WEAPON TO GIVE JAMES HARDEN A CONCUSSION!NOTHING JUSTIFIES WHAT METTA WORLD WAR DID TO
JAMES HARDEN!METTA WORLD WAR IS A MENACE AND THE SOONER HE IS “AMNESTIED” OFF THE TEAM
      THE BETTER!

    • Peter M. Arel says:

IT COUNTS FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BECAUSE METTA WORLD WAR IS TOO MUCH OF A HOTHEAD
TO BE OF ANY USE TO ANY TEAM IN THE NBA! I’VE SEEN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND COLLEGE PLAYERS
PLAY WITH MORE RESTRAINT. WATCHING HIGH SCHOOL AND/OR COLLEGE BASKETBALL IS THE ONLY
WAY TO TELL COMMISSIONER DAVID STERN AND THE OTHER TEAM OWNERS THAT ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

  257. JJJ says:

MELO MELO MELO MELO to LAAAAAA!!!!!!!

  258. lets get melo` says:

let’s get into the trade for melo! i would dish out walton, blake, artest and smith! lets push for melo! knowing the lakers GM he has something up his sleeve!

    • Pete says:

Yep, because denver are going to give up a guy who is arguably the best scorer in the NBA right now for a grumpy has-been and three bench warmers…sure.

Funilly enough, the only place I could see Artest actually working is in Boston. Doc Rivers has proven his ability to deal with complex personalities better then anyone in the NBA – just look at what he did with Marbury, Shaq, Nate Robinson.

Also, Celtics as a team are all about defense and toughness above all else – as long as players go out on the floor and play their role, Doc will reward them.

Finally, Celtics have never been a team to shy away from more *ahem* ‘experienced’ guys. They are a team looking to win a title right now, and are less concerned with the future ‘post big 3’.

The downside here is that there really isn’t anyone else on the Lakers team who Boston would be even remotely interested in outside of Fisher, Odom and Shannon Brown … all of whom are probably untouchable as far as trades go.

Likewise, there is no one I can think of that boston could/would actually give up to get these guys. Nate Robinson, Big Baby, Marquis Daniels, Shaq…these guys are keys to this team and not likely to be given trade consideration.

Jermaine Oneal and Delonte West are injured, so cant trade them.

That leaves Semih Erden, Luke Harangody, Avery Bradely, Von Wafer – and even out of these guys, Doc loves Erden, Wafer and Harangody.

Needless to say, The Boston starting 5 (Rondo, Allen, Pierce, Garnett, Perkins) would be absolutely off limits.
All you have is Semih urden, Je

I’m a Celtics fan, and to be honest I cant stand Artest…but as much as I hate to admit it it does make a lot of sense.

  259. John says:

    They should bring Ariza back.

  260. Anthony says:

Oh man, I’ve been dreaming for a trade that would get Carmelo to LA. Just trade Ron plus anybody except Kobe, Pau or Lamar for him, lol. No, seriously, Ron is a great guy, but with al the weird shots he’s taking, it’s tough to see them win it again this year. And Kobe’s been frustrated with the the team’s effort for a long time now, I bet Ron is a big part of his frustration.
And let’s face it. They need someone who can score on a consistent basis, because they’ve all had their ups and downs. They’re also getting a little bit older and when Phil leaves at the end of the season, they might lose their edge. Getting a superstar like Carmelo would solve all those problems 😀 Go for it Mister GM!

  261. step 2 says:

MELOO MELOO it would be the greatest trade ever.

  262. Lakers Fan says:

Keep Artest Trade Joe Smith & Derrick Carracter for Josh Powell

  263. Bonnefil fils divers says:

the only player they need to trade is Blake because he doesnt show up at all as a back up point as we all can see Derek fisher getting old.we need some one who can score at least 8 10 points behind Derek.

  264. Ron Artest has never really been a “perfect fit” kinda guy, so trade talks aren’t that suprising, they have followed him his whole career. But none the less he is a crucial part of the lakers (last year game 7 vs Boston) and without Matt Barness in the lineup his importance is ever more relevant. If Kupchak does decide to make a deal i don’t see ron artest getting moved, perhaps instead a deal could be made to ship Derrick Character or Devin Ebanks for some more depth at the wing spots and defence to handle Boston’s much deeper bench.

    Any thoughts Sekou?

    • Sekou Smith says:

After watching Ron save the Lakers in Game 7 of the Finals, it’s hard for me to dismiss him as casually as some others might. I thought this trade talk from Kupchack was more of a scare tactic than anything. But if they are serious, Ron would be the logical guy to put on the block. His value is much greater than those other guys you mention.

      • I agree, i have a difficult time putting him on the trading block aswell, and he does seem like the obvious choice of someone to deal. However, Ron’s contributions in the playoffs in potentially gaurding key players like Durant, Anthony, Richard Jefferson and possibly pierce are enormous, especially with the health of Barnes and the Lakers minimal depth at those positions.

Maybe he should take some time off just to work on his music?

        Any other thoughts?

      • Pete says:

Everyone keeps saying Ron is untouchable because of his performance in game 7 of the finals.

        So what?

He had one good game in what happened to be the critical, pivotal champtionship game.

He also played pretty damn poorly in the games before that, and if he had have played better to begin with maybe the Lakers wouldn’t have needed 7 games to win it.

You can’t guage a players value from their performance in one game…guys like Kobe and Gasol are untouchable because in the Finals they played solid-to-fantastic in almost every game.

Hell, Eddie House played phenomenally well in some big time playoff games for the Celtics too, but it didn’t stop them sending him away.

    • Peter M. Arel says:

TRADE ARTEST IMMEDIATELY! THE NBA SHOULD KEEP THIS MALCONTENT CONSTANTLY ON THE MOVE, WITH NO STAYING POWER ANYWHERE IN THE NBA! AND THEY SHOULD KEEP TRADING HIM UNTIL IT’S TIME FOR “METTA WORLD PEACE” TO RETIRE FROM THE NBA AND GIVE ALL OF US SOME PEACE! THE NBA SHOULD SEND THE MESSAGE THAT NOBODY IS BIGGER THAN THE NBA. AND TRADING AWAY GUYS LIKE ARTEST IS THE WAY TO DO IT!

  265. modi says:

Ron stay trady walton draft pick for melo

  266. MT_Native says:

    Carmelo, Carmelo, Carmelo!!

  267. QuestionMark says:

Trading Artest will just result in Pierce, Lebron, Durant, and every other superstar SF to go crazy on the Lakers asses LOL. Truthfully I dont think Barnes will be able to guard those 3, and that being said the Lakers will have a hole left in their defense.

  268. kdub says:

trade Artest, Walton, Ratliff, Joe Smith and a draft pick possibly involving in a two team deal (not sure which teams) in order for the lakers to be efficient and motivated. Obviously the concern is the aging of the team, so trading 4 veterans for maybe some young guns in return isnt a bad idea. Barnes can fill in Artests presence on defense, having the same aggressiveness on D and in my opinion more efficient on offense than Artest..

    • Peter M. Arel says:

THE LAKERS SHOULD GET RID OF ARTEST. IF THAT DOESN’T HAPPEN BOYCOTT THE NBA AND TELL
COMMISSIONER DAVID STERN THAT FROM NOW ON YOU’LL WATCH HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE BASKETBALL
UNTIL HE’S REPLACED BY A COMMISSIONER WHO WILL NOT TOLERATE “SHOWBOATING” BEHAVIOR ON THE
HARDWOOD BY ANYBODY IN THE NBA-AND BACK THAT STANCE UP WITH ACTION!

  269. Rasar says:

You want to be traded somewhere where you can “have fun again?” If Artest really said that, what the heck are you, a teenager? get a grip man. Grow the heck up and become a professional instead of a permanently damaged, perrenially unhappy journeyman who already give his only championship ring away for the sake “mental health”. If you can’t grow up in a championship with a supporting cast like you have got you’ll never grow up.

    • Peter M. Arel says:

Get rid of Metta World War BEFORE his next meltdown, NOT after the horse has been stolen! EVEN IF IT MEANS RELEASING HIM UNCONDITIONALLY AS HE NEARS THE END OF HIS CONTRACT. I DON’T KNOW ANY TEAM THAT WILL WANT HIM. If I owned a team like the Los Angeles Lakers or the Sacramento Kings I WOULD WANT METTA WORLD WAR GONE, TOO! RELEASING METTA WORLD WAR MAY BE THE ONLY WAY FOR THE LAKERS TO RID THEMSELVES OF THIS ALBATROSS!

  270. lakerfan says:

ummmm sorry but i just read this is all rubbish, its just been released in the LA times from Artests agent he doesnt want to leave lakerland.

    • thesmooth001 says:

It’s not really up to him though, unless he starts to show it and play like it on the floor.

I hope we keep him though, after all we basically let Trevor go in order to get him,
he just needs to play harder & more effectively.

  271. LAKERS says:

THEN TRY TO MAKE A DEAL WITH STEVE BLAKE FOR STEVE NASH!!
LAKERS NEED GOOD OFFERS TO PURSUEY THERE TRADES!!
    ARTEST FOR MELO
    BLAKE FOR NASH
MAKE GOOD OFFERS!! DATS DA KEY THING!!

    • uoykcuf says:

really? blake for nash? nobody for 2 time mvp?

    • Turk says:

      seriously?

    • Pete says:

“THEN TRY TO MAKE A DEAL WITH STEVE BLAKE FOR STEVE NASH!!
LAKERS NEED GOOD OFFERS TO PURSUEY THERE TRADES!!
      ARTEST FOR MELO
      BLAKE FOR NASH
MAKE GOOD OFFERS!! DATS DA KEY THING!!”

So basically by “make good offers” you are basically saying make rediculously biased offers that no team on earth outside of the Lakers would agree too…yep, that’s going to work.

  272. Nik says:

I think Ron should stay. They should give him a chance,he is a great player. He can do more than this, remember game 7 of 2010 NBA Finals,he was one of the best player on that game.

  273. Black Mamaba says:

In my opinion, if artest wants out let him out, we dont want anybody in LA that doesn’t want to be here..He is still a great defender when he is ready, but we need someone who’s head is always in the game. I believe the lakers should try to go out and get gerald wallace, A.I, or even danny granger is he is available…..

    • Black Mamba says:

      Mispselled “Black Mamba

      • Eric says:

ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL Um you sure about that? A few years back a so called Laker wanted out, would you let this Laker go to? O btw, it was Kobe so dont say if any laker wants out let em go please learn the game of Basketball and realize that Artest is a gem in this league

      • uoykcuf says:

“we dont want anybody in LA that doesn’t want to be here” I remebered a few years ago when kobe wants out so bad before the lakers got Gasol. Did you want kobe out as well at that time?

      • Pete says:

“gerald wallace, A.I, or even danny granger is he is available…..”

Are you guys crazy?? There is no chance in hell.

All three of these guys are the NUMBER ONE guy on their respective teams. There is no hope in hell these teams would even contemplate trading Wallace, Granger or AI for an old guy like artest who has no upside, and who’s distrating personlaity creates more problems then his play solves.

Not unless they throw in some SERIOUS incentives (I’m talking Paul Gasol, Bynum or Odom) and you can bet your ass neither Gasol nor Odom will be on the trading block for LA

In fact, you can jot down Kobe, Gasol, Odom and Fisher as the four guys who are pretty much untouchable when it comes trade time.

It they can work out a deal with Bynum, Artest and Shannon Brown then they can get some serious start power in return, and even Artest and Shannon Brown might get them a very solid player..but Artest on his own won’t get them much. It’ll be like dangling a piece of lettuce in front of a hungry dog – no matter how hungry the dog is, he ain’t biting on that green stuff!

    • Peter M. Arel says:

The Lakers can only GET RID OF METTA WORLD WAR WHEN HE REACHES THE END OF HIS CONTRACT. THE NEXT CONTRACT HE SIGNS SHOULD HAVE SO MANY STRINGS ATTACHED-IN THE FORM OF GOOD BEHAVIOR
CLAUSES-THAT WILL BE ENFORCED IN SUCH A WAY AS TO MAKE HIM THINK A BUNCH OF DESPOTS TOOK
OVER THE NBA! YES THE NBA SHOULD GET RID OF ARTEST BUT THEY SHOULD ONLY GET RID OF HIM
AS HE NEARS THE END OF HIS CONTRACT.

  274. BEST TRADE says:

The best trade would be to trade Ron Artest for Chris Duhon and Quinton Richardson. The magics have Dwight Howard best interior defender and Ron artest Arguably the best perimeter defender..Orlando Magics are rank probably number 2 or 3 in offense in the nba so to add the two best defenders would be a plus….Quinton richardson and duhon can both shoot the 3 ball….and play Very good defense…keep in my the Lakers are in the luxury tax they need huge role players that are good playmakers duhon probably wont do this but Richardson can..thats my idea and i think its the best move for both teams.

    • KOBEPAUANDME says:

Wow didnt think of it. This actually makes a whole lot of sense.

    • thesmooth001 says:

I like, but then that means the Lakers could wind up meeting Orlando/Artest in the finals, and I don’t think that would be a good thing.

    • KillIARFiC says:

MAYBE A GOOD MOVE BUT PLEASE UNDERSTAND RON RON AND NEAR THE BEST PERIMETER PLAYERS IN THE NBA. DWADE AND LBJ ARE BETTER THAN HIM. SO IS ARIZA. IGUODALA IS AS WELL. I SAW RUDY GAY PLAY SOME GOOD DEFENSE THIS PAST SUMMER (QUICKER AND LONGER THAN ARTEST)… THERES ALOT OF GUYS OUT THERE THAT ARE BECOMMING BETTER THAN HIM AND HE KNOWS IT. HE DONT CONSIDER HIMSELF THE BEST PERIMETER DEFENDER NOMORE… BUUTTT IF HE WERE TO GO TO HOUSTON ID BE THE BIGGEST ARTEST FAN AGAIN…LOL

  275. LAKERS says:

    TRADE ARTEST FOR MELO!!!
TRY TO MAKE A BETTER OFFER DEN WAT DA NETS DID, ND BEFORE DA KNICKS END UP GETTING HIM!

  276. BringArizaBack says:

I LOVE RON, BUT IF HE WANTS OUT…LET HIM GO. IF ONLY THAT MEANS WE COULD GET TREVOR ARIZA BACK!

    • thesmooth001 says:

I agree, but it appears the Hornets recognize the asset they have in Ariza, while the Lakers let him go and he signed for the same exact money as Artest when he could have gotten more from Cleveland at the time.

The Lakers took the risk for the short term instead of the long term, now they need exactly what Trevor gave them before, they got their back to back rings, now will they get their third in a row? That is the question at hand.

  277. CARTER71185 says:

are u crazy dont get jr smith his iq on the court is whack and he jacks up 3s when u dont need 3s smh bad trade if they do this i hope they dont like i said trade ron for andre iguadala

    • Pete says:

AI is Philadelphia’s franchise player…and you honestly thing they are going to trade him for an underperforming old ‘has been’ defensive guy with a wreckless personality?

      I think not…

  278. soso says:

trade and trade i dont care.. spurs will still go out to finals lol..ooops sorry.lol

  279. Vlad says:

only trade him if you can get something of equal or almost equal value…they do have matt barnes now even though hes injured right now. However if they trade artest their toughness goes down cuz barnes is nowhere near artests level and i dont care what you all say. and now they might win a higher percent of their games but chances are they get knocked outta the playoffs by OKC and even the heat and forget about boston.

p.s. YO RON RON COME TO THE KNICKS…were gonna love that swag in new york

    • thesmooth001 says:

How about Ron-Ron for Wilson Chandler straight-up? I’d take that and throw in a Luke Walton, (he is awful and should not be getting any playing time, I don’t even think he could play in the D-league, but Phil keeps putting him in games anyway.)

Go Knicks, please take Walton and his contract off our team.

      • SpursFan says:

Knicks wouldnt give up Chandler for Melo, wut makes u think they wuld do it for Artest -____-

      • KillIARFiC says:

WILSON CHANDLER FOR RON RON?? CMON MAN… MAYBE RON RON AND BYNUM. WILSON CHANDLER IS A FREAK OF NATURE. SLOWLY HES BECOME ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLAYERS TO WATCH. MAYBE HE COULD COME OFF THE BENCH IN N.Y BUT GALANARI AND W CHANDLER ARE BETTER AND YOUNGER THAN RON RON.

      • yo walton is a great passer, the best passer on da team

  280. Oldschool says:

Seeing how Artest has difficulties this year, it’s indeed not so surprising. I still think Lakers should try to make him comfortable again though… And as virgilioantonionacar said, the guy can shoot. He just looks like he doesn’t dare anymore (I already spotted Kobe twice asking him to shoot it instead of passing it to him).

  281. Ronell Marzett says:

J smoove is the only guy I can see coming in and filling that role. Young legs is what the Lakers need, but instead they trade a first round draft pick for JOE SMITH….lol

    • leggomymelo says:

i think Iguadala would be awesome for the lakers. think how exciting that would be? but J-Smoove would be more than awesome. do you think hed be able to fit in though? and what would the lakers have to give up with artest to get him? if hey could pull that off without giving up bynum (i like bynum as a laker to much) then i think the three peat would be theirs.

  282. CARTER71185 says:

i think they should trade ron and luke and some draft picks for Andre iguadala he would be right for the lakers he has good physical defence and he can knock down 3s when he got to i mean lakers are not gonna be able to get melo because thre gonna have to give away half of there team so its better for them to just get A.i. and they would be good to go

    • IDONTCARE says:

hahaha are you crazy do you think sixers trade igoudala for ron..not gonna happen..their not dumb to trade for old player..lol

    • thesmooth001 says:

I like that potential trade, but I don’t think Philly would go for that. If they did trade A.I., they could probably get more in return and they need more.

    • KillIARFiC says:

THE SIXERS WOULD NEVER DO THAT. THAT WOULD GO DOWN AS THE WORST GM MOVE IN A LOOOONNNG TIME. PROBABLY SINCE DARKO GOT DRAFTED BEFORE MELO, BOSH WADE, KAMAN, HINRICH,TJ FORD, PIETRUS, DAVID WEST, KENDRICK PERKINS, BARBOSA, JOSH HOWARD ETC…. COME ON, THINK BEFORE YOU TYPE PLEASE

  283. SAS says:

trade ron artest back to the rockets for maybe chase budinger and maybe change the rockets misfortunes lol maybe the rockets can trade for a big center too 🙂

  284. Realist says:

For the Lakers sake, I hope he goes. Guy just is too much to handle and doesn’t produce enough to keep dealing with him. Get another physical defender if you can and ship him out if he wants out.

    • KOBEPAUANDME says:

      Gerald Wallace!!!

    • Peter M. Arel says:

IF METTA WORLD WAR IS TOO MUCH TO HANDLE THE LAKERS’ FRONT OFFICE PEOPLE SHOULD GET RID OF HIM IN THE OFF-SEASON WHETHER HE IS TRADED OR GETS HIS WALKING PAPERS VIA AN UNCONDITIONAL RELEASE. He’S NO GOOD FOR THE LAKERS AND ANY OTHER TEAM THAT SIGNS HIM HAD BETTER HAVE A MEANS TO GET RID OF HIM EITHER BY MEANS OF A TRADE OR UNCONDITIONAL RELEASE!

  285. Aldstar says:

Trade him!!! He has been playing like crap, his defense isn’t what it used to be, oh man those 3pt shots he takes? The Lakers could let anybody in the audience take those shots and the percentage will be the same. Lakers made a hugeeee mistake by ”swapping” Ariza for Artest, Ariza is knocking in treys with the Hornets, energizing them AND playing solid defense. 3 things I have been missing with Artest out there. Look what Ariza did for us in the playoffs! Just trade Artest. Bring in JR Smith or even try to bring Ariza back. I don’t think Artest NEEDS to be traded in order for us to win a chip, but IF Kupchak will make a trade, trade Artest 😉

    • Bonnefil fils divers says:

      what are you talking about

    • Andre says:

Agree here. Ariza is WAY better. Ariza play good defense, is younger, better 3pt shooter, better all-around scorer, good caracther. And both were signed through mid-level exception.

In 2 years Artest will be old enough to play defense and Ariza will still be a terrific role player for any team.

Anyway, losing Artest now is bad for Lakers, unless they can find someone stupid enough to make a trade similar to Gasol’s one. They will suffer a lot to beat strong frontcourts.

    • LakersWillWin says:

Want to k now why Ron’s 3’s don’t fall? Notice how in the beginning of the game he shoots a high %?
Have you played a lot of basketball? When you play hard on the defensive end, you are a tad fatigued and your ability to shoot the ball gets flawed. I understand they are stars and that’s why they get paid millions, but Ron’s role is defensive stopper.

    • na8 says:

      Trade ron ron for melo

    • thesmooth001 says:

I agree with everything you just said, except that I think that Ron can play and should stay, but he has to determine that he is going to play hard and embrace other ways that he can help the team. In his interview after Sundays game with Lisa Leslie, he just came across as he could really care less, and his play on the floor is reflecting just that.

If he determines that he is going to continue to not care or play hard, then they should seriously consider moving him or at the very least, play Ebanks more at the 3, his game is very similar to Trevor’s, less experienced but very athletic & active.

    • KillIARFiC says:

TREVOR ARIZA IS BETTER DEFENDER THAN RON RON IS NO DOUBT. ARTESTS FEET HAVE SLOWED DOWN ALOT. HE DEF ISNT BETTER THAN ARIZA DEFENSE. CHRISTMAS GAME WOULD HAVE BEEN ALOT DIFFERENT IF RON RON COULD HAVE GUARDED D.WADE OR LBJ

    • raymond morales says:

no way trading him…just so eARly to panic…i know that ron will do what he does best when playoff comes…lakers still needs him…fatigue factor just affect them…just see when playoff comes…curve it on stone…believe me…

    • Peter M. Arel says:

AND WHAT ABOUT METTA WORLD WAR’S ATTACK ON JAMES HARDEN?THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS SHOULD GIVE METTA WORLD WAR HIS UNCONDITIONAL RELEASE IN THE OFF-SEASON AND REPLACE HIM WITH SOMEBODY
WHO’S MORE OF A “TEAM PLAYER.” FANS WHO THINK THERE IS TOO MUCH HOOLIGANISM IN THE NBA SHOULD BOYCOTT THE NBA AND WATCH HIGH SCHOOL AND/OR COLLEGE BASKETBALL.

  286. authentic354 says:

hey lebron was ron-ron there when they beat the magic? and they didnt beat the c’s because of ron-ron!!

  287. authentic354 says:

make it happen ron-ron,bum knee bynum, walton, draft pick for melo………………

    • Andre says:

It’s so bad. Ron is probably the best perimeter defender in the game. Bynum is very Big. Melo plays no defense.

You will lost the only guy in Lakers team that can defend inside, the best perimeter defender, and put a finisher that, as Kobe, can’t share the ball.

      • NAJ says:

Kobe just had a double digit assist game. You’re an idiot…. Kobe shares the ball a lot in the 1st quarter and watches Pau, Ron and Fisher brick shot after shot and then has to start doing it all because they have been poor this season. I wouldn’t trust Lamar as far as i could throw him either. Someone needs to get Pau and Lamar to play defence and we will be ok

  288. virgilioantonionacar says:

I just like Ron Artest for his defense and anyway he s not a good shooter but he can shoot too as well

    • thesmooth001 says:

I love Ron as a player too, but now it is time for him to get his head back into the game. Even if he doesn’t score, he still needs to do what he does best, which is play hard along with his lock down defense.

It appears that the Triangle Offense is hurting his game and relegating him to a set-shot jump shooter, for which he is not currently all that good at, (Unfortunately the role he is being asked to play was perfect for Trevor, who just made things happen on the offensive end.) However, that does not stop him from getting rebounds & put backs like he did against Phoenix in the playoffs.

The Lakers have the Ultimate offensive player, along with multiple other options, so Ron needs to do other things that can help the team and himself. He is too good & too tough to just be setting up out behind the
3-point line, not cutting and not rebounding.

  289. 24 !! says:

if they have to trade artest who will they bring on the team cuz he was the only guy on the team that loved being physical ets just not the way lakers play but they need someone for the finals to be physicall at times and why did they had to trade sasha iam still furious for that trade,,,,

    • Bonnefil fils divers says:

they might get ariza ,but we dont have to trade him watch what going to be happen when the playoffs start he will steps up just like he did last year

      • Bunbury says:

Ron is no playing well. but he is not the only laker. Gasol had a good start, but has slowed down recently. Kobe should shoot the ball less, that makes him more efficient (better field goal %) and it gets everyone more involved.

      • Peter M. Arel says:

THE NBA SHOULD PROMPLTLY RID ITSELF OF A PLAYER WHO BEHAVES AS THOUGH HIS MISSION
IS NOT TO PLAY BASKETBALL BUT TO INFLICT SERIOUS AND DEBILITATING INJURY TO HIS OPPONENTS!
METTA WORLD WAR IS NOT WORTH THE GAMBLE TO ANY NBA TEAM!

    • 8675309 says:

saha who? pavlovic? he was traded for shannon brown which was good for the lakers. sasha isnt very good

    • LakersWillWin says:

I’m pissed they traded she-she (Sasha) too. But it’s nice to see him getting minutes and using his potential in NJ than sitting on the bench. LA must not want a 3peat trying to get rid of guys who have been there.

    • Me says:

I agree…Artest is the only Laker who is not afraid to get in the opponent’s face and be physical on defense, I love the Lakers, but the are playing terribly soft this year. I don’t care, as a champion there is no such thing as being tired from previous championships. That should be their drive and there should be no mercy when they’re out there on the court.

      • Peter M. Arel says:

METTA WORLD WAR IS A MENACE TO ANY PLAYER OR REFEREE WITH WHOM HE COMES INTO CONTACT!
I WOULDN’T WANT TO BE A TEAMMATE OR AN OPPONENT OF HIS!TO BE AN OPPONENT OF HIS IS SCARY
ENOUGH! I WOULDN’T EVEN WANT TO IMAGINE HOW SCARY IT WOULD BE TO BE ON THE SAME TEAM WITH
        HIM!

  290. Lebron James says:

This is a healthy decision for Ron Artest..he’s an asset to any other team if want;’s out. Sad to say Lakers never give attention to Ron. They should give him the trust as this man saves them from defeat against Boston Celtics in game game 7 of 2010 NBA Finals. If not for him…Lakers is a non exist for that game.

    • chris says:

He should be traded to miami so he can back up lbj and dwade. he would also give them more depth

      • 8675309 says:

for who?? not jones and not miller. id like to see him traded for arroyo and maybe dexter pittman. even draft picks or money if we have to

      • Quincy says:

That wouldn’t work. Ron artest doesn’t get along with lebron. plus they couldn’t get him anyway.

      • BEEFLA says:

HE CAN GO WITH THE NETS

      • killaRiFiC says:

if your miami, trading dRAFT PICKS FOR SOMEONE IN THEIR 30’S IS A HORRIBLE I IDEA. I WOULDNT MIND THEM TRADING MIKE MILLER (CONTRACTS ARE ABOUT THE SAME I BELIEVE) FOR RON RON. BEING A ROCKETS FAN I THOUGHT HE WORKED WELL IN HTOWN. THE THUNDER PLAY SMALL, WHY NOT PUT HIM AT PF OVER JEFF GREEN. THE THUNDER HAD BEEN SAYING SINCE BEFORE THE SEASON THAT JEFF GREEN WAS GONNA BE THE 1 OF THE 3 (DURANT, WESTBROOK, GREEN) THAT THEY DONT RESIGN FOR BIG BUCKS. RON ARTEST HAS MATURED AND I THINK HE COULD HELP ANY TEAM THATS A LITTLE WEAK AT THE SG/SF POSITION. THERES ALOT OF TEAMS THAT CAN USE HIM TO PUT THEM OVER THE HUMP TO BEING A DECENT PLAYOFF TEAM.(TIMBERWOLVES, CLIPPERS, ROCKETS, BUCKS, PACERS ECT.. ) HE WANTS TO BE MORE THAN JUST A ROLE PLAYER. IN HOUSTON HE HAD THE GREEN LIGHT TO SHOOT JUST LIKE HE DID IN INDIANAPOLIS. THATS WHAT HE NEEDS. IF HE HAS THAT, ITS TRICKLE DOWN TO HIS DEFENSE AND SO ON TO HIS TEAMATES JUST LIKE IT DID IN HOUSTON(LAKERS ARE SOO LUCKY YAO GOT HURT THAT YEAR IN THE 2ND ROUND).

      • Read this!!! says:

do you really think the lakers would even consider trading anybody to another championship contender? those kinds of things just don’t happen.

      • 8675309 says:

how do you know they dont like eachother quincy? have you ever gotten them in a room together for more than 48 minutes? didnt think so. lots of people talk trash to each other. that doesnt make them enemies. you obviously need to learn what joking is.

      • Heat says:

        @Quincy

Why wouldn’t it work. They said the same thing about Ron getting along with Kobe and it worked out. Then they said the same thing about Barnes getting along with Kobe and it worked out. So I’m pretty sure Ron can get along with LeBron if he can get along with Kobe.

    • LakersWillWin says:

If Ron gets traded the Lakers chances of threepeating is definately going to be a lot less than if he was on the team. I hope this is just exaggeration in Laker town to “light a fire under him” if you will to play harder.
I mean, why would he want to leave? He auctioned off his 1st ring, doesn’t he want to at least have ONE?

      • Ray Leighton says:

Well, yes, that’s the point — he wants to win another one, and he’s realized that it isn’t going to be with the Lakers this year. The Lakers have had the softest schedule of any of the elite teams — more games at home and very few games against playoff-quality teams — and yet they have the worst record by far against those playoff-quality teams compared to any of the other elites. Second half of the season includes almost 30 games against playoff quality teams with the majority of them on the road. The Lakers probably won’t even be the two-seed in the West. And yes, you can point to injuries, but those injuries don’t ever entirely go away — look at Bynum. Gasol is totally exhausted. The Lakers don’t have the frontcourt depth. If Kobe or Gasol gets hurt, the Lakers are done for. They are trying to do what the Celtics did last year and coast until the playoffs, just try to get healthy, except last year, it was obvious that the Celtics were great prior to the injuries — 23-5 — they didn’t just get old in one week; whereas this year’s Lakers have simply not put up any quality wins. They’ve looked worse than Boston, Miami, and San Antonio all season, even though Boston is simulating a MASH unit. There’s something wrong in LA that rest will not fix. If the Spurs pound LA again on Thursday, then the Lakers need to do something. If Ron wants out, then he is only going to be a liability to the team until they trade him. Time to pull the trigger. The question is what they can get back because many teams will be shy of Ron-Ron’s contract and his reputation. They certainly are not going to get an all-star player.

      • boston bench mob says:

Well the only way he’s gonna get another one this year is for him to get traded to the Celtics….

    • thesmooth001 says:

I guess they should have kept & praiise Sasha Vujacic also, (if he had not made those free throws the Lakers would have lost ; )

Don’t they get paid millions of dollars to perform on the floor, particularly in the big games?

They do not deserve special praise or credit for one big game or moment, at least do it numerous times over a prolonged period like Derek Fisher has, before expecting special credit.

      • Free throws win championships says:

        @thesmooth001.
That is awesome you mention that! Sasha’s free throws! I actually ran into him in the mall while he was out shopping with his mom and sister right after the finals last year and told him “great free throws!”. He smiled, laughed hit me in the shoulder and said… ” haha thanks.”. Then I realized how lucky the Lakers were…. Hahahaha!

  291. 24 !! says:

@ sekou i wana hear your opinion on this one firstly they are @ # 2 in the west n 3 games short to celtics is the media not taking this on a high note i mean entering playoffs as seed # 2 wont be bad they’l have somethin to fight for atleast and yes artest and gasol were soft on sunday and 25th also but lakers are dealing with injuries too i would still wait till round1 of playoffs ….

    • Sekou Smith says:

I think the panic in Laker land is way premature. There are several new faces around that are still getting comfortable. And let’s be honest, they’re a bit fatigued from three straight trips to the NBA Finals. That said, I don’t think things can last long with Artest, because he grates on the team and a coach like Phil will grate on him. So it makes sense that his name pops up in the trade talks. Still think this is panic for not reason, though.

      • IDONTCARE says:

why dont you trade (KOBE) and (RON) and (?) for (LEBRON) and (DWAINE)..much better…waaaaaaaaaaaa

      • thesmooth001 says:

        that’s just stupid!

      • Bunbury says:

I think they got a 3-4 month vacation?

      • Read this!!! says:

“they are fatigued. they are bored” that’s all I hear from laker fans and reporters in general… come on now there are just teams playing at a higher level that’s the truth behind all of this. pau gasol started the season as an MVP candidate, where is he now? is it really that difficult to get him the ball in the paint like they did at the beginning of the season? is it too difficult to get kobe not to take over games from start to finish? those are the real questions here… the lakers are a better team when they play through gasol, bynum, and odom and when they let kobe close out games.

      • Peter M. Arel says:

I BEG TO DIFFER, SEKOU SMITH! A PLAYER WHO ACTS AS THOUGH HIS MISSION IS NOT TO PLAY BASKETBALL BUT TO KNOCK HIS OPPONENT OUT OF EVERY GAME IS NOT WORTH THE AGGRAVATION
TO ANY NBA TEAM! THIS IS A VERY APT TIME TO PANIC! THE NBA ITSELF SHOULD GO DOWN THE TUBES
IF THE TEAMS THE PLAYERS PLAY BASKETBALL FOR CANNOT CONTROL THE PLAYERS’ ACTIONS ON THE
HARDWOOD! FANS WHO WANT TO SEE THE MAYHEM STOPPED SHOULD WATCH HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE
BASKETBALL-AND TURN AWAY IN DROVES FROM THE NBA!

      • Peter M. Arel says:

THIS IS A VERY APT TIME FOR PANIC! WHEN THE LAKERS HAVE A MADMAN ON THEIR TEAM
WHO WON’T KEEP HIS ELBOWS TO HIMSELF YOU’VE GOT A VERY INTENSE SCARY SITUATION
ON THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS! THE CHEMISTRY ON THAT TEAM WOULD BE 100% BETTER WITHOUT
        METTA WORLD WAR!

    • qman528 says:

      trade him for gerald wallace

    • gRiM says:

RON ARTEST HASNT DONE ENOUGH THIS YEAR…WHY NOT TRADE HIM 4 A GOOD YOUNG DEFENSIVE PLAYER THAT CAN ACTUALLY PUT UP SOME POINTS AND NOT RU HIS MOUTH AND ACTUALLY STEP UP FOR THE LAKERS…IF HE DOESNT WANT TO WIN IT ALL LET HIM GO PLAIN AND SIMPLE LAKERS DONT NEED HIM

      • Spoiled says:

Just because of a few losses it seems as though the media and the fair-weather Lakers fans wanna quit…
This is ridiculous! I guess having too many checks in the win column can hurt, but to question a team that has won so many games and championships is silly! The Lakers are like spoiled children, when a few things go wrong then somebody has to be blamed… At least they aren’t the Cavs! There are still plenty of games to play! I’m actually not even a Lakers fan. Quite honestly I’m glad that they are facing some adversity, but it seems like there’s alway some drama in Hollywood that needs to happen to keep things interesting… I think Fisher has been clutch the last five years but it may be time for him to go. With so many good young point guards out there it’s almost foolish not to seek and destroy. Yes they have S. Brown, a young talent but he’s really only worth a few highlight clips at most… It is Kobe’s team right now but how many more years do his knees (near bone on bone) and wrecked fingers last in the most competitive league? The Lakers need to plan for the future if they want to continue checking off the win column. They need a true point guard that can take on the role as mover. Somebody that can make space and create shots. (I hear S Curry is tradeable)… The thing that keeps the wheels turning in Boston is that young whipper snapper Rondo, who is playing with guys almost twice his age (exaggerated)… Since this discussion is mostly about Artest well, yes he should be traded off if he really wants to go. Package him and Fisher for some primissing talent then maybe the Laker will have a future and a now. If threepeating is so important good ol Phil should have kept his mouth shut about retirement. He should have kept his Zen state of mind to find the glue to keep the team together and play together like a happy family… Then again spoiled children seldom listen…

    • Alexzo48 says:

I love ron-ron..but u gotta admit he can be a distraction to any team. Phil’s been there, done that with dennis & the bulls.. But then again i’m not sure the zen master has enough gas in the tank to deal with this kind of bleep. Ron’s like a kobe in a sense that u either love him or hate him. He loves the spotlight. He’s a perfect fit for the bright lights of hollywood if only he can get his act straight. Otherwise he is a wildman. He can be a tarzan & go to the bronx & the the jungles of the new york. After all,it’s a place where he’s at home.

      • Alexzo48 says:

It’s a toss-up…LA can either ride it out with ronron & deal with the pros & cons o having him in the team.. Or ship him somewhere & cut the drama & focus back on defending their title. Matt Barnes is a highly capable replacement for Artest. He is feisty & brings the same attitude & defensive mentality on the table…at a very low cost. I love ronron but i say ship him out & while we’re at it take bynum with him. I love andrew as well but i’m beginning to doubt if his gimpy knees will ever hold up to his potential. In the meantime here’s a shoutout to mitch… GO GET BLAKE GRIFFIN! inthe next year or two, Shannon Brown would come out of the Shadows of Kobe. He & Blake would be nice pieces for LA keep continuity & kepp the lakers relevant. Go for broke Mitch!
