D. Rose Needs To Dunk

HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS – We already have four contestants for next month’s Sprite Slam Dunk Contest during All-Star Weekend.

But why not add one more?

I wonder if anyone even bothered asking Derrick Rose if he’d like to participate?

Next time we bump into Chi-Town’s favorite son, we’re going to ask!

Omg JR Smith needs to be invent dunk contest. His dunks are too nice and he has alot of creativity

  2. Kaycee says:

Duuuuude, D. Rose is so sick! He ain’t scared!!! Have you guys forgotten that even though Nate Robinson won last years dunk contest, David Stern took the award away from him and and gave it to D. Rose for having the best dunk in the game vs. Atlanta…Scared? Really? SMH.

  3. Balla says:

Having guys that are 6’10″ and 7′+ in the dunk contest is a joke! Where is Shannon Brown? That kid has redic hops!

  4. Pheno isto says:

It is good that D. Rose focuses on winning.

  5. Zoe says:

LBJ & BLAKE GRIFFIN ARE OVERRATED, SO IS BRANDON “GET LOST” JENNINGS. I WANNA SEE D. ROSE VS WESTBROOK VS ERIC GORDON VS JR SMITH

    • Jake says:

Eric Gordon is like the fourth best dunker on his own team, and you can’t be overrated when you’re the best in the world.

  6. SEA PEA says:

Listen Haters, I’m right, and your wrong so stop tryin to argue. Your just mad cause I showed you up and every thing I’m saying is true. It’s whatever.

    • CelticsFan says:

u cant b rite if u have no idea wat ur talkin about

    • Jake says:

No you’re mad because everyone just pointed out that you’re an idiot. All-star does not automatically equate with “great dunker.” Chances are nobody asked D-Rose to be in the contest.

      • yolanda says:

yeah your an idiot so just stop!
you dont even know him to be saying hes scary, maybe your the scary one,
AND AINT NO ONE HATIN ON YOU BUT YOUR HATING ON D.ROSE!!!!

  7. chicago97 says:

SEA PEA, WHATEVER THAT MEANS???? PRETTY LAME!!!! WHY N WHERE IN THE WORLD DO YU GET THAT D.ROSE IS SCARY, I WOULD REALLY LOVE 4 YU TO SAY THT IN HIS FACE CHICAGO NATIVES ARE PPL YU DO NOT WANT TO MESS WITH SERIOUSLY, AND ITS THE LEAGUE THAT HAS TO OFFER YU THE POSITION, NOT THE PLAYER.. LEBRON N DWADE R THE ONLY ONES WHO HAS BEEN ASKED TO JOIN AND THEY SAID NO. THEY SAID NO BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO MUCH OF AN EGO TO LOSE, THEY’LL GO CRAZY IF THEY LOST.. SO PLEASE KNOW YOUR FACTS KID.!!
    GO BULLS!!

  8. Mystic says:

Sea Pea, you have absolutely no evidence to back up your claim that Derrick Rose is “scared”. If anything, this fits in perfectly with Rose’s personality. He is not I repeat NOT a limelight guy. The kid has shown repeatedly that he would much rather keep to himself than deal with the public aspect of the NBA. You and others wish that every baller was cut from the same cookie-cutter personality as media-fiends like Jordan and LeBron…but they’re not.

Dwight Howard by contrast had the PERFECT personality for the contest, affable yet not overly-egotistical, and the fans ate it up. People like yourself forget the showmanship aspect of the contest. That is why last year’s contestants e.g. Shannon Brown and Gerald Wallace put on such a poor showing. Their personalities weren’t made for the limelight. Derrick Rose would be just as shy.

Asking “why” LeBron never entered is either naive or needlessly rhetorical. LeBron is clearly concerned at his lack of creativity, as well he should. He has the personality for the contest but not the creative skills. Chris Paul and Tyreke Evans play below the rim. Mentioning them was just….DUMB. They are suited for the skills competition and — hey, lookie here, hasn’t . OJ Mayo just recently shined the worst possible light on himself and the NBA. They wouldn’t let him in the contest now if he begged. Beasley? Well, you asked for all-stars. Well guess what, Beasley, if you haven’t checked, is far from an All-Star lock. Wade and Durant have taken part in other All-Star Saturdays events multiple times, done well, and given them life. No one does multiple contests.

Hmm so who does that leave from your list? Oh, that’s right: no one!

Keep coming up with examples though.

    • Mystic says:

I didn’t finish a thought: hey, lookie here, hasn’t Chris Paul competed in the skills competition? Yes he has.

    • Superpunchout says:

Dwight Howard was affable until the contrived Hannah Storm/Superman ESPN commercial. Turned me off for some reason. THEN, he decides to laugh through an inadequate Derek Anderson impression – a la Jimmy Fallon -, ew….. Hey Dwight! How about we stop wasting talent and maybe practice a little mid-range jumper. Eh? Heard Olajuwon’s working with you. Hope it goes better than your stint with Ewing.

  9. Victor Manoel says:

Come on, the superstars need to take part in the DUNK CONTEST, of course! Where are they??? If Sprite offered a million dollars, or half-million dollars (or something like that), the stars surely would come. The winner could donate all that money and bring even more fans to basketball. For example, LeBron could use an opportunity like that to redeem himself, and be, again, the MLP (Most Loved Player) of NBA. Sekou thinks the same, he does.

    Thanks.

  10. Marvin says:

I think we should put rose and lebron out there i want to see them competing against super blake .

  11. Sea Pea says:

Rose ain’t doin it. He is just scared. Everybody is so “branded” now they don’t want to ruin their “image” by not being able to shine.

There used to be a time when all the new guys would dunk. Kobe, JR Rider, Jordan, Dominique, Drexler, Dee Brown, Steve Francis or whoever. These guys were rookies or 1st or 2nd year players and they were in the contest. Now the new players don’t even get in the contest except for Dwight Howard…..and his tall *bleep* should never have been in it anyways. LeBron never entered why? Wade never. Why?. Chris Paul why not?. Melo nope. Where’s Tyreke Evans, Kevin Durant, Mike Beasley, or OJ Mayo? Where are the young stars? This is still All-Star Saturday. How can you have non-Allstars in a All star dunk contest? Might as well just have the dunk contest during half-time at the Summer League championship. It’s so pathetic. Why don’t the legends lobby them or why can’t David Stern put the hammer down. It’s there obligation to entertain.
