LAS VEGAS — Devin Ebanks knows nothing is given in the NBA.
So when the Lakers’ 43rd pick in the 2010 Draft talks about the team that drafted him, he still talks about them in the third person.

“I’m not on the team right now,” Ebanks said Saturday after his second impressive performance in Las Vegas. “But it feels good to play for the World Champions.”
If Ebanks continues playing like he has through two games, he should find himself becoming a contributor on the Lakers as they seek a threepeat. Ebanks scored 21 points in his debut Friday, then followed that with a 24-point performance Saturday in a 92-74 loss to Denver. In the two games he’s 17-for-33 from the field while knocking down three of his six 3-point attempts.
“It keeps me motivated, knowing nothing’s set in stone,” Ebanks said. “I’ve still got a lot of work to do.”
Ebanks, the West Virginia swingman who says he’s mistaken for Rockets guard (and former Lakers) Trevor Ariza about “100 times just today,” is focusing on his shooting, knowing that could be an area he can contribute right away.
“Everyone knows I can play defense and rebound, so I’m just trying to improve my offense,” Ebanks said. “Coming from a great program like West Virginia, I’m used to winning, so I just hope to continue that.”

Awesome job by the Lakers two 2nd rounders so far. Mitch is a genius.
I’m a HUGE WVU fan and a HUGE lakers fan. Congratulations on you’re first 2 great games Devin!! Keep it up and keep working hard because it will pay off!
I think this guys is a great steal for the Lakers!!! Finally Kobe can take day-offs and the Lakers can still win as if her never left.
well this is what ive been expecting has a laker fan: something coming out of the blue, an unexpected factor and a bit of luck actually and him and caracter are pretty strong right now, i think maybe both of them may get a place on the roster but caracter needs to bring more points up on the board but hes a big reboundig force so this hidden talents may show their way up in the food chain especially with guys like mbenga leaving and it seems that these guys can give a bit more deepness to the lakers bench suporting young guys like vujacic brown and farmar (if they come back) it looks like this 2nd round picks are going to be bigger than expected on a team that needs guys like these. keep the hustle an the good numbers and i can see you on the bench next season
mitch the genius
I’m a huge lakers fan I hope we hold to Devin Ebank and Derrick Carracter. We need to think about 3 years from now when Kobe, Artest and Odom are looking at retirement. Ebanks and Carracter will be developing as nice players. both of these guys will be in this league with the Lakers or some else.
BLH BLAH STILL MIAMI WILL WIN IT ALL THIS YEAR
Oh boy a miami bandwagon hopper! Guess you think Lebron is still some sort of king too! AAAAHAHAHAHA, yea right.
Miami sucks. It takes two superstars to team up to win a ring. Tells you a lot about wade and queen james. Bosh is ok, i think anyone would want to leave Toronto!
i doubt it lol
Hopefully he makes the roster. Looks like he has potential. As a laker fan i hope to see him in a lakers uniform.
ebanks=ariza………………………..
Best of luck Ebanks. Keep pressing and believing in your game. Trevor was a significant part of the Lakers if you can provide energy as he used to do then the Lakers should be fine. Your faces are alike hopefully the game would be just the same Hustle, energy, FT shooting, slashing to the bucket and knocking down wide open 3s off of Kobe & Gasol’s double teams. Keep believing…..
Great fit. “Will replace Adam Morrison.” I will see him first hand in Las Vegas on Tuesday July 13. Lakers can easily sign him if not D-Leauge.
He looks a lot like Durant, but that’s probably wishful thinking. Seems that he is a shoe-in for a spot on LA.

Well right nowit looks like MitchK did his home work again. I hope Carated and Ebanks lok like goodpicks with the selection that the Lakers had. Also hats off for the Blake signng. Those snakes Miami ars trying to sign DFisher. They do not have enough money or class for Fish to jump.
Miami would win in 2010-2011 season? Are you kidding me? You should not count the chicks until the eggs have hatched. What makes you so sure that the chemistry of this so called superstars will be good. Teaming up might be a good thing or a bad thing, who knows so don’t be so sure!!! Heat would be better this season, that is given but to say they are going to win it, no not really!
The draft picks we picked up are great, but I am concerned on why it is taking so long to sign Derek Fisher….the Lakers NEED to sign D Fish and not let him go to the heat…D Fish is clutch no matter how old he is!

u guys acting like the lakers have a bench, if these guys keep playing like this they not only goin 2 make the team they goin 2 get good minutes
Come on…even if these two guys were awful (and they are not) they could easily replace DJ Mbenga, Adam Morrison, Josh Powell. Those guys played almost ZERO minutes in the playoffs combined. These 2 alone can replace ALL three and still upgrade the bench. Imagine Steve Blake, Lamar Odom, Ebanks, Caracter, Luke, Sasha, as the bench squad. They’ll bang in the paint all over clowns. Ebanks looks phenomenal. Caracter is putting up double doubles. That’s even MORE rebounds for the lakers. Rebounds = Wins. This team just got taller/bigger. And didn’t have to pull off miracles like the Heat.
These two guys were steals late in the second round. Ebanks favors Ariza alot. His whole game is like Ariza. I can see him earning a spot easy behind ron artest. Thats not a bad example to look up to (court wise). Artest is a lock down defender and is very tough. I think he could teach Ebanks some things even though I think Ebanks is a very good defender with his length. I do think Ebanks should work on his handle a little more. He is tall and long and it looks like he isnt very tight with his handle. Nevertheless, I would like to see him get signed asap. If he continues to work on his shot, he could be just like Ariza, but instead coming off the bench to help the bench mob. Think of how good this bench could be with Blake (if Fisher resigns), Vujacic, Ebanks, Odom, and Caracter.
Caracter is a very special player too. With all the comparisons with Ebanks to Ariza, it overshadows Caracter’s comparisons. I think his game is similar to Big Baby Davis from Boston. They both can finish around the rim and they both have a decent mid-range once squared up. I think Caracter can be one of those energy guys off the bench jus like Davis is in Boston. One negative i would say of him, is that his post moves are a little bit too slow. Its nice to have patience in the post, but he needs to speed up the move just a little bit. Other people might say that he needs to catch the ball better, but i think thats just from being nervous and excited at the same time. But once u saw him get comfortable, you saw his potential. If these two picks get signed and fisher gets resigned, i dont see no way the Lakers dont 3-peat.
go lakers!!
u just said ever thing i was thinking good comment he is a big baby davis player which the lakers need an athletic bench player with energy
Quit HATING on the Lakers.
BROOOOOOOOOOOKYLN! E BANKS WENT 2 HIGH SCHOOL AT MY OLD HIGH SCHOOL BISHOP LOUGHLIN! E BANKS & LANCE STEPHENSON REPRESENTIN 4 NYC! BROOOOOOOOKLYN!
Now signing Kurt Thomas & maybe a veteran sf/sg would make a lot of sense now… PS, I REALLLLY THINK KURT THOMAS IS A AWESOME PLAYER:)
And a GREAT fit for this team….Re-signing DJ “MBENG MBENG!” Mbenga, D-Fi$h & Shannon Brown…Signing Kurt Thomas & The 2 Rooks & a sf/sg that can shoot the 3 & play some d, GUARANTEED 3PEAT!!! No matter who that team i n south florida decides to sign!!!

these two could be the steals of the draft, Ebanks especially. finally a good draft pick!
Great Picks by Lakers – EBanks and Caracter are currenly #1 and #2 in Rookie Ladder. That is a great achievements for these two guys. I wish them good luck with their next league games.
I am 100% sure Lakers are gonna pick both of’ ‘em.

Will never doubt Mitch again. He won me over with the Adrew Bynum pick and keeps impressing me each year. Best GM in the league.
