Suns have to show up to shine

Posted by Fran Blinebury

PHOENIX – While everyone in the Pacific Northwest was still thrilled over the unexpected addition of Brandon Roy to the Blazers’ lineup in Game 4, all that mattered to the Suns was what they didn’t bring — energy and effort.

“We didn’t play with energy,” said coach Alvin Gentry.  “If you don’t, you struggle against.”

Not only did the Suns struggle, but they had their lowest offensive output of the entire season in the 96-87 loss.

“We just didn’t bring it,” said Amar’e Stoudemire.  “We didn’t bring the effort that we needed.  We didn’t rebound.  We didn’t attack.

“But having said that, those are all obvious things that are in our control and we’ve proven already twice in this series that if we bring the right energy and the right attitude, we’ll be fine.  We still have the home-court advantage in the series and we have re-establish that in Game 5.

“In the next game, we have to make sure to bring the effort and make sure we collectively play hard, box out, rebound and do all the things we have to do to win.  We’ve got to play scrappy.  We’ve got to get after it.”

Grant Hill said the Suns are brightest when the situation looks dark.

“We’re pretty good when our backs are against the wall,” he said. “But we haven’t done a good job of handling our success.  Now we’re desperate and I hope it shows on Monday night.”

Hello Turkish Friend… PHX has been good in the begining of the regular season and become dull and then very aggressive towards the end of the regular season…

Always year after year, you can say that the PHX SUNS are Consitently Inconsistent… I keep my fingers crosses in the PalyOff Season too..

suns are gonna kill the blazers on monday!!

  3. Triny says:

I agree and I believe the Suns will be just fine. Phoenix is more than capable of taking this series and I have faith in them that they’ll do it. They’ll take this series.

  4. Norberto Felix says:

The Phoenix have the right name attached to its team. The whole situation is starting to boil over, and it will be a matter of who gives up first. “Grant Hill said the Suns are brightest when the situation looks dark.” I couldn’t agree more. Phoenix Suns will win the series 4-2, in my book. GO SUNS!

  5. jesus says:

suns are going to beat the blazers in 6 if j rich plays well

  6. johnny says:

I think the suns have to play with more effort. Amare is the best player in the nba so they need to get him involved early

  7. ejay! says:

    yeaaaa! go suns!

    • will says:

as long as the suns win their home games, they will win the series. however game 7 has the most pressure in a series, so lets hope they take it in 6 games

Amare sucks he is not the best player on the nba and the suns SUCK we are going to win 4-2 GO BLAZERS!

  10. SK says:

Before you guys get too excited, remember that Portland beat Phoenix 2-1 in the regular season and is now 2-2 with them here. The Blazers’ problems in Games 2 and 3 were all in their head – now that Aldridge got re-established and Roy’s back, the only thing missing (besides health, but Portland’s done fine without that so far) is Rudy Fernandez. Even with that not working well, the Blazers won Game 4, so I think this series isn’t a done deal yet.

    • Brydon says:

All of those 3 games that they played against each other were before Christmas, so that’s irrelevant. In this series, Phoenix has won by 29 and 19, and Portland has won by 5 and 9. Phoenix just played absolutely terrible in game 1 and 4. I think they’ll wake up now, and they’ll advance.

    SOLAR ECLIPSE:

The thing about a solar eclipse is that, you can almost look directly at the sun in it’s ‘weakened’ state. It doesn’t give off the glare and absolute power of the most destructive/creative orb of the heavenly bodies (at least located in our galaxy). Much like the Run&Gun Suns of the 2010 season, where their destructive force on the NBA hardwood was eclipsed at various times through the regular season – lapses on defense, a bench looking for their own identity and at one point the distraction brought about by contract/free agent talk added to this – Not alot of this is new to the Phoenix Suns as they, return to a winning formula for themselves and ultimately have themselves back into a mode of operation that suits their organisation. Steve Kerr stopped tinkering, Steve Nash stopped aging and Grant Hill stopped getting hurt. It’s working and it’s and enjoyable to watch.
Amar’e wants to be the top dog, but ultimately remains a ‘finesse player’, albeit one who dunks with ferocity. Defense with ferocity would look great too.
But we enjoy what we see. The orchestration of the offense. The energy off the bench. It will remain to be seen how far this team can go. If their determination and desire will result, rolling up the proverbial sleeves or, to return to our earlier illustration; to move out from behind the clouded elipse. A full, shining sun whilst providing warmth and a decent dose of vitamin D, drawing us outdoors is a drawcard for many. But too, a full shining sun can be destructive and unbearable at times. Perhaps we might see a little more of that force during this playoff run…

  12. Suns Fanatic says:

All the suns need to do is put mroe effort in and rebound. They have home court advantage as well. J Rich just need to get back in rythmn and Nash and Stoudemire ned to help. Also the bench need to bring more energy and defense just like in Games 2 and 3. Anyways I say Suns in 6. 4-2

  13. blazers says:

    blazers in 6 broy

  14. virus says:

Blazers are back on track. Suns don’t stand a chance now. Blazers will win this series 4-2.

  15. Mike says:

BLAZERS IN SIX BABY! The Suns are overconfident, we are gonna walk in there and stun them one more time in their house then seal it in six.

Everyone overlooks the Blazers, but that’s the way we like it!

  16. BlazerBeliever says:

Unreal, no one ever gives Portland the respect they deserve. Charles Barkley is a pompous homer who needs to shut his mouth and stop sucking off the Suns every chance he gets Phoenix is over-rated. This is a tough series for both teams, if either team plays their game, it usually equals a win. When J-Rich scores 25 or more, its very hard for Portland to win. But one thing about this series, is Portland hasn’t really had a great game yet, game 4 was pretty good, but the Blazers can play alot better than that, and the guy who said that when Portland beat Phoenix 2 times in the regular season that they were ‘out of their performance’ is wrong, its called defense. Portland can dictate a game a with their defense, and as long as Camby plays well, Aldridge will feed of it, Camby is a game-changer and Phoenix just cant match the level of defense that Portland brings. And most of all, Alvin Gentry is not on the same level as Nate McMillan. Blazers in 6.

    • Brydon says:

What? Barkley is alllllllways beating up on the Suns for not playing D! I think I heard him praise them pretty recently, but that was because they actually started playing D, so they deserve that. Regardless, who cares what Barkley says haha.

  17. Pedalpowered Papa says:

Suns are going to kill? Amare, best player in the NBA?? The sound of people who have no idea…

W/ Broy in the lineup again, the Blazers will shock you all.

  18. chris says:

Blazers in 6 – Roy absolutely dominates J Richardson and the Blazers will win it!

  19. mike says:

The Blazers are gonna kick phoenixes arse,go Roy!

  20. BlazerBeliever says:

And Amar’e is the best player in the NBA?????? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA – Are you joking? He wouldn’t even make the top 10.
    Best Players:
    1. Lebron James
    2. Kobe Bryant
    3. Dwight Howard
    4. Dirk Nowitzki
    5. Carmelo Anthony
    6. Deron Williams
    7. Brandon Roy
    8. Kevin Durant
    9. Steve Nash
    10. Dwayne Wade
    11. Amare Stoudemire

  21. Amare says:

did u just say that amare is the best player in the nba? by the way portland is the better team, pheonix is just lucky portland is missing their number one pick starting center and a fully healthy brandon roy. watch as portland takes this one hard from pheonix.

  22. Josh says:

Amare best player in the NBA….. Do you watch any other games??? lol

  23. Michael says:

Amare the best player? What about a certain guy in Cleveland…King James?

  24. mo says:

Amare Staudamier is Definitly not the best player in the NBA. Maybe top 15. However The road for Phoenix Suns has just gotten tougher. Brandon Roy is back and even with a bum leg, he is the X factory. Roy is arguably in the top 10 or 5 players in the league.

  25. AJ says:

The Blazers will win in 6 or 7 games if Roy gets back in his rhythm. No one on Phoenix has an answer for him.

  26. Michael says:

If you lived here in Portland, you would know what Brandon Roy means to this city and this team. His presence could be too much for the Suns to overcome. You lost because Nash had to play DEFENSE. We found that if you make Nash play D…you have a very good chance of beating this Suns team.

  27. Vince says:

I think that the Blazers in game 2-3 didnt bring energy ether so I feel that if both teams bring energy that we could have a very good series. If the Suns continue to play like they have been the Blazers might be in trouble, at the same time the Blazers have showed that they can slow the Suns. It could go ether way. GO BLAZERS!

  28. kevin says:

i think suns suck and blazers are gonna win in game 6 b roy is back and that all we need baby rip city !!!!!!!!!!

  29. Andrew says:

The only x-factor is if BRoy plays well. If he is effective the suns wont have the effective defence they thought they had coming into this series. Unless Amar’e shows once again that he would like to injure portland again, like the first 2 dead ball hits on Batum… if he takes out roy or gets aggressive in anyway there should be no mercy. I hope he straightens up his act. he was outta line. Blazers in 7 with roy on his game. Phoenix in 6 if hes not.

  30. Blazer Fan says:

So obviously I’m a Blazer fan but I think it is likely that the Suns will probably win this series. What I don’t understand though is how Portland can beat Phoenix 2 of 3 durning the regular seaon and 2 of 4 so far this series and be given so little credit.

All I hear about from the Phoenix players and fans is how they just didn’t play well on the games they lost. Sure, and Portland didn’t play well in the games THEY lost. Whatever.

Phoesnix just didn’t get out and run enough and get enough fast break? Maybe because Portland is #2 is limiting turn overs and doesn’t take a ton of 3 pointers (19th in 3PA) which provide long rebounds. They are the anti Phoenix.

Phoenix is a good team and it has been a good series but man, someone please give just a little credit to Portland.

  31. rickfromPtown says:

    GO BLAZERS!

  32. Ruben says:

The Suns are starting to choke, they saw Brandon Roy and pissed them self’s. Guess what?? I smell 50 points from roy coming up!

  33. jack says:

The blazers will kill the suns… know brandon roy is back and they know have more confidence

  34. David Ng says:

I am a big fan of Nash, Amare & JR. They will crush the portland guys on Monday !!!

  35. brett says:

Im going to be the sore thumb. Blazers took game 1 at your court with 2 36 year old veterans for our centers. Without our best player and 2 7′ centers. We just held you to your season low. Roy only had ten points in 26 minutes. You guys r going to lose the series 4-3 by a guy who had surgery 9 days ago, some old guys, and some rookies.

  36. Anar says:

Sorry kids, but, Portland Blazers are gonna take this series. Just think how dumb all of you will look.

  37. Seriously? says:

“We just didn’t bring it,” said Amar’e Stoudemire. “We didn’t bring the effort that we needed. We didn’t rebound. We didn’t attack.” didn’t attack? attacked Nicolas Batum’s injured shoulder with an intentional elbow bump during a dead ball.. that’s what the suns have to resort to? hmm we’ll see.. Go Blazers.

  38. Miguel says:

The suns are gonna win the series and are goin to have homecourt advantage vs. The Gayass Spurs… GO SUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  39. jon says:

Think about this question: Every game Brandon Roy has played in this season against J Rich what type of performances has J Rich had? The Suns were only playing good on defense because they were able to double team Aldrige and he had no one to kick it to. You seen it late in the game Brandon Roy’s late 3 pointer. I can promise more than 26 min. from Roy in game 5 which means an average of 22 point performance and a player who takes the game over late. I like the Sun’s and believe they have a great offensive game but I believe the outcome will be the same outcome the regular season was.

  40. coal train says:

Amare Stoudemire is NOT the best player in the nba, probably not even top 10. Johnny, you’re high. Suns better hope they’re “pretty good” with their backs against the wall, cause if they loose tomorrow they loose this series. And I have a feeling Brandon Roy is going to put on a clinic. J RIch is in for a looong night.

  41. Ryan says:

The Suns will be lost in game four, J Rich has no clue how to defend Roy, The Suns will not be able to affectivly double team Lamarcus or Miller with Roy on the Floor, The Suns will lose this Series.

  42. ken says:

Phoenix will win that in 4 – 2 they just need to give their 200% not just 100% PHOENIX RULES

  43. Leonard says:

If you saw how Amare, Frye, Hill and Nash responded in the last minute of play when it got chippy, you could tell that they were going to bring the heat. They didn’t bring the heat all game but from about 3 minutes left in the fourth you could tell that portland pushed them over the edge. I think Game 5 will be no mercy and Amare, Fry and Richardson will be hitting boards hard giving Portland no second chance points. Thats the difference in these games.

  44. Jordan says:

Apparently the Suns fans have crowded this posting. If you’re wondering where all of the Blazers fans are then check out the comments after this Trail Blazer’s blog at http://mikebarrettsblog.blogspot.com/
That being said, when the Blazers show up to play (like in games 1 and 4), they have consistently won the competitive games against Phoenix and in games when the score is relatively close. As a Suns fan you have to be concerned because the Suns lost the regular season series to the Blazers and you had to take the Blazers out early in the first quarter because you’ve lost almost every game in this series and in the regular season when the score is not a blowout. As a Trail Blazers fan you have to be concerned because you didn’t show up to play at all in games 2 and 3.
Personally, I lean towards the Trail Blazers when it comes to my preference of who I would like to see win and I was very satisfied when the Suns stole that third place position in the West to face the Blazers because the other two potential match-ups were Denver and Utah, who are the only Western Playoff Teams that the Blazers have struggled with and lost the season series to in the regular season. Plus, the Blazers pace is very damaging to the Sun’s offense. With Brandon Roy’s unexpected return, LaMarcus Aldridge is now able to throw up 31 points against a Suns defense that has to focus on double teaming Roy instead of LaMarcus. The injured Roy may not put up 30 points but the Suns will continue to pressure him with two or more defenders because he’s a constant threat. Not positive who will win the series mostly because Portland hasn’t even been present for half of this series. That being said, Portland hasn’t even shown up for half of the series and still have the series tied and you have to feel pretty good about Portland’s chances when that is the case.

  45. Truelli says:

It’s all about energy, and everyone has to be hungry. Hey i sleep and eat with the phoenix suns all the way, i know their weak points as well as their strong. Alvin gentry needs to make good use of his piece ( players ) during crunch time, play the most hungry, because sometimes though steve nash has had is reputatation , we could easily get blinded by pass achievements, I mean play goran dragic if you see energy in him rather than steve nash trying to dribble too much before making a pass. If you take a look at the last four (4) Minutes of game 4, steve nash really slowed the tempo of the game, he is the one to be blamed for the loss of game 4, he controls the pace of the game, he should realise that he only trie to attack the paint if and only if is team mates are struggling.
Alvin gentry please activate earl clark, you can use him better with faster and younger legs against portland than you using collins. Earl clark wake up! and never be caught sleeping.
    Go Suns! GO!

  46. Ripcityfan4life says:

Blazers in 7. Suns will win game 5, Blazers will win 6 at home, and final in Phoenix to shut them Suns up for good. The sun will go down on the Suns. Amare and his dirty play are pathetic and I hope to send him packing. LMA and Roy, plus the seasoned Miller, with a “I don’t wanna quit attitude despite the pain” Batum, nad finally the bad assery in Camby, plus a loaded bench? Cmon Phoenix, the Blazers lost focus in 2 & 3. But look how they played them 1 & 4! RIP CITY BABY! GO BLAZERS!

  47. Chris says:

are u serious? the phoenix suns are done! they have no defense and now with roy there is no one to guard him its not just roy with the clutch scoring for the fourth quarter but his presence brings a bunch of energy to the team and able to play the pace they want to play rather than phoenix’s very own run and gun offense….Portland is gonna take this in 6

  48. Peter says:

I think Chris Paul should´ve cracked top ten. In accordance to this list:

    1. Lebron James
    2. Kobe Bryant
    3. Dwight Howard
    4. Dirk Nowitzki
    5. Carmelo Anthony
    6. Deron Williams
    7. Brandon Roy
    8. Kevin Durant
    9. Steve Nash
    10. Dwayne Wade
    11. Amare Stoudemire

oh i think Dwayne Wade is a better player than Steve Nash and Brandon Roy? Don’t you agree? Is this list even official and legit….it does seem opinionated….thus it’s biased. whoever made this list needs to focus in details in the NBA players more precisely…..

On PHX Suns, they will go as far as second round I will guess 4-3 win for Suns. But if they lose focus and composure in semifinals, they will be murdered by Spurs or Mavs. And I don’t think they will make it out of Western Finals, Kobe and Lakers will take it all the way again…even if PHX is my fave team to watch, but not the fave to win it all.

Kobe —> Best currect Closer in the NBA!

  49. Peter says:

Also adding on, even if those who wish for PHX to lose, it’s just not possible that SUNS will lose nxt two games straight, this does seem like a 7-game series rather than six…I don’t know what you Blazers’ fans are thinking…SUNS don’t SUCK that much….teams who make it to playoffs are good…..duh…..

Truelli….tell me more about the weak points of SUNS to fully plead your case……which is at lost because you seem to dis the SUNS and yet say “GO SUNS” Goran will never get more minutes than Steve Nash, never. He cannot pass the ball like Nash.

I honestly thought PHX would truly dominate first round because of how they played in last two regular season games. Wrong. Blazers did spectacular on guarding Nash-STAT pick n’ roll real well. I have to say this thought lol, It was frustrating to see Steve Nash make ill plays to TOs down the last few minutes. B-Roy is a good player nonetheless.

I just want the PHX to defeat the Spurs because they always stop the Suns from advancing in this decade.

    • ella says:

you want phx to beat the spurs?!

      1. you might wanna see more basketballl in his game and less football…. this is the NBA not FIFA… i know he loves football very much and, as an italian, i can relate to that… but introducing football “gimmicks” into his game does not always work…

      2. everytime the suns make it into the playoffs, nash is more about “I” and less about “the team”… steve, stop being a diva… it did not help your pal from dallas, either… saw what happened in s.a. last night ??

unfortunately the suns don’t have a cohesive team, and the only thing that can make them competitive, at this point, is to make sure that their best players (nash, a’mare) clean-up their act.

      see ya in round 2!!

      ella

      GO SPURS!

      • Peter says:

it would be nice to see PHX defeat SA Spurs. Spurs are a good team no doubt.

i never touched nothin’ on football or FIFA….wtf are you getting at there Ella? you are gettin’ NBA and NFL mixed up?? what….

Yea PHX destoryed Blazers tonite. whoops for Portland…

      • ella says:

        hi, peter!

i was still writing when i accidentally submitted the comment. i was talking about nash at point (1). his love for football (soccer – as u call it here) is well known and he is quite good at it, too. i saw him play. BUT in certain instances he likes to apply football strategy on basketball courts; which make for very dramatic and flashy plays but not too efective on the scoreboard…and that tendecy increases during playoffs games. sometimes i feel like he has already closed the chapter on the nba… he behaves like a starlet diva chasing a reality show… and this attitude does not help the team. ultimately, it’s what’s on the scoreboards that wins a championship ring.

        that’s my point of view…

        as i said, i’m looking forward to a spurs-suns round 2.

        see ya!

        ella

      • Peter says:

        hey Ella,

Oh you were referring to football = soccer. I was thinking how does american football and basketball tie up…haha.

I respect your point of view much. Nash is flashy but that makes the Suns enjoyable to watch. I personally think Suns won’t win and they aren’t my fave to win, I just enjoy watching them run and gun style of play very much.
Spurs and Suns second round is definitely worth watching. Best of luck to Both teams.

You live outside the United States Ella?

  50. boh says:

No matter what you say SUNS will win this series and throw the blazers to the trash can….so you blazers fans ,start accepting the fact now!!!!!!

  51. chopsui says:

    sorry, B Roy is back….bye bye suns…..

  52. just think! says:

WTF is wrong with all this portland fans , F.Y.I. brandon roy is just one HUMAN guy who came from freaking SURGERY NINE DAYS AGO!!!! I`m sure his not yet a 100% cause he is not a superman. He cant take the suns alone, he has no support, unlike the suns they have 2 great veterans in hill and nash, a dominant power forward in amare , dont forget jrich and frye, and of course a way better bench. so look do you really think you will win games 5 and 6 in a team with a great home record, forget about game1 and game4 it was only a lucky win nothing more nothing less. suns will take this in 4-2

(and by the way i`m a fan of orlando and i just got pissed off by the comments of some portland guys)

    • Seriously? says:

No Support? Well, Blazers have THREE great veterans to back up Roy.. Miller, Howard and Camby, (and also Aldridge who isn’t a vet) run circles around the Suns…Oh yeah, Didnt you hear? Brandon Roy is TOTALLY Superman.

most of the statements about us winning because Brandon Roy is back are based on observation of game play… if you knew ANYTHING about the Blazers, you would see that this team is dynamically different with BRoy.. we play BETTER with him in the game. doesnt matter if he isnt 100 percent. the team Morale is boosted 150 percent with his energy.

So.. sorry Mr Orlando fan.. Just think! Blazers are going to win this series!!

  53. jermiah ramos says:

im glad 2 see a lot of suns fans with confident statements,,, but they wont be so confident about there suns when blazers win another in phoneix plus who’s gonna guard roy even in limted mins roy is a problem speicially for them old ass suns basically it blazers sereies i dnt kno if its in 6 or 7 all i kno is that the suns cannot hang with portland point blank period…. how confident do u think i am lets just say im confident enough 2 make two bets with seperate companys in amouts of 5,000 dollars each and i aint jokin… GO BLAZERS!!!!!!!!!

    • Peter says:

lol son you are making a mistake with those bets….have fun

Roy will not be the star he once was yet. His legs aren’t giving him the lift hes due. Too bad. Old ass Suns but much more experienced SUNS. whoops also plz don’t make fun of another team just because you like the other one more.

  54. Kent says:

Suns in 6! I bet Roy’s shoulder is gonna hurt again in Game 5 and leave the game. Watch the Suns destroy Blazers!

  55. Brandon Roy says:

Hi this is Brandon..yea u may find it hard to believe but i get on her im human like u guys too lol…and i enjoy the fans side of the series..but i just wanna say im doin fine and where gonna try are best to get this over with in 6games cuz no1 plans for a game 7….thanks and keep up the support blazer fans

  56. Young says:

guys you are so funny…. first off all amar’e way much better than Brandon Roy or Deron Williams whoever made that stupid list…… and ofcourse PHX gonna win this one!

    • Peter says:

I agree. the list i recopied from a super unreliable sources needs to study the NBA and its players more thoroughly and precisely and accurately and the list goes on….

  57. blaze it up says:

its really hard to say who will win. both teams are good. im a blazer fan and i think we have a good chance to win this but then again phoenix is a really good team too. so its hard to say….my guess is that they will play all 7 games. if portland gets one win in phoenix then im pretty sure that blazers gonna win this. but in the nba anything can happen.

  58. Christian says:

I’m a Phoenix Fan..but please, don’t under estimate both teams..this could be a great series though..but when you talk about the season, it’s different..in playoffs, there will be more intensity, fouls, dirty plays, and more..just don’t compare the seasons to the playoffs..phoenix really don’t need to win at the road..just take care of their home court advantage..

  59. TAGOK says:

im from the philippines.. an avid fan of the suns.. go suns..

  60. Suns Fan says:

You guys really gotta be kidding me right????? Portlands gonna win in 6 r u insane Phoenix has only lost 3 in a row once this whole entire season so unlikely to lose in 6 if you look at the numbers…. Also Amare since the all-star break has been the best player in the whole entire NBA he does his role on the team to absolute perfection and lead them since the all star break to 3rd seed in the west from the 8th or 9th seed because hes been getting to the line and contributing with points and rebounds the suns went on that 10 game winning streak in the last month of the season because of amare either way you’re all clowns Phoenix in 6 they only lost 9 games at home out of 41 all season what really makes you guys think that portland can win 2 out of 7 in the home of planet orange not a chance kids…. Figure It Out!!!!!!!

  61. da fox says:

Brandon Roy easily dropped 52 points on the same suns team (minus matt barns). With Roy feeling healthy, the suns will have a hard time stopping him and will most likely end up doubling him, that will mean an open look for a shot, Portland, being a shooting team, has the advantage in that situation.

    • Peter says:

unfortunately Brandon Roy isn’t feeling is old self yet. His legs just aren’t doing their jobs yet. He better step up if Blazers really wanna win. otherwise its go home for them. That’s reality.

PHX is also a shooting team. A better percentaged one I might add. Your arguments aren’t doing a very good job.

  62. Robin Lopez says:

The Blazers are lucky I am not in the series, or else those offensive rebounds wouldn’t happen, we will win this series, then I will come back to guard Duncan and we will beat the Spurs….ORANGE PLANET

  63. da fox says:

Brandon Roy, lol i doubt its you, but im a huge fan of roy. I have like 5 roy t shirts and the theme R.O.Y for Roy will always be a headliner for good things too come! I can’t believe its been like 4 years already.

  64. Greg Oden says:

I don’t know why our Portland fans say I am good, I am the next Sam Bowie, I’ve had 2 knee injury seasons and I will have more I am sure, Ohio State was my pride and joy, i think we have a good team but we are not better then Phoenix, I don’t see us beating them in this series but maybe we might, either way we will lose to Dallas or San Antonio next round so Portland fans see you next year.

  65. suns fan says:

blazers fans shouldnt worry about getting little credit. you should worry about your star risking getting hurt or ruining his career in a series your gonna lose.
    GO SUNS!!!!!

  66. quick hit says:

    hey just think

comments don’t count coming from teams who have never won a championship.
Btw luck had nothing to do with it. it’s called d something phoenix knows little about.
and orlando will have fun losing to lebron this year so don’t tell me one man has no power to elevate his team to another level.

p.s. kent i have no doubt phoenix will target roy since he is an injured player. They did it with batum (Video evidence) and now i realize what kind of team the suns really are.
(except channing, wish him the best)

  67. nicholas Lyon says:

First, if Portland were truly healthy with Oden and Prizbilla, they would mop defensless Poenix up. That said, Portland with Roy back, will not have it easy, but if they hit their shots and keep Phoenix under 95 points, they should win. Phoenix has bad D. They don’t always show up either. So which Phoenix will the Blazers face during game 5 & 6? Portland is mightily underestimated. Batum is a rising star, Roy is getting healthier every hour, and Portland are a team of scrappers who throughout the season have beat the odds.

    PORTLAND in 7

    • Peter says:

I like your argument there. one of the best in all the comments i’ve read thus far. well done Sir. But unfortunately Oden or Prizbilla (spelling) is not here to dominate the SUNS bigs. And Roy is feeling healthier at a rather too slow of a pace you think? PHX doesn’t have a bad D. It’s just not better. Yes, Portland defense on SUNS’ pick n’ roll is very nice.

  68. Alex_661_Bakersfield says:

Suns will win the next two games. Its ok that the suns lost the last previous game. Its going to be tough for portland to win another game in Phoenix. The crowd is going to be wild and the environment in the arena will be hostile for the Blazers to succeed. Suns play very tough at home, especially when they need a big win. I doubt the blazers will be able to manage the energy and effort the next two games against the Suns. Remember the suns have veterans who’ve played in big games in the playoffs and have young guys that dont have experience in these next big games. Suns shoot a higher percentage at home, especially the three ball. Look for Phoenix to push the ball the first quarter, pound it in, and then spread the court for the three ball. They’re going to exploit Brandon Roy’s knee, which when he’ll be in, they’ll attack him and make him play defense. Suns all they way. Wouldnt it be exciting to see another Suns Vs San Antonio again?

  69. Keith says:

Amare is the best what in the league? Top 20 yes, but definitely not the best player in the league keep dreaming. Kenyon Martin would give him a run for his money. BLAZERS are taking this series if not 4-2, then definitely 4-3, Roy is back & that means Mr. Fourth Quarter is at Mc Millans rescue. Once Nash plays defense & J-Rich definitely have to play D now also, the Blazers will cruise through the Desert in Phx. We’ll all know by the end of this week & as far as Mr. Barkley goes, you only speak highly of the Suns because you was on the team, maybe if you were on the team right now you wouldnt talk because Roy would make you work on Defense !

  70. TOP 15 PLAYERS says:

    Here’s mine:

    1. Lebron obviously
    2/3. Kobe or Dwade
    4. Dwight Howard
    5. Carmelo Anthony
    6. Dirk Nowitzki
    7. Kevin Durant
    8. Brandon Roy
    9. Chris Paul
    10. Deron Williams
    11. Steve Nash
    12. Amare Stoudemire
    13. Joe Johnson
    14. Rajon Rondo
    15. Josh Smith/Paul Pierce?

Idk those are just off the top of my head, add to it.

As for the series I say Blazers in 7 not because im from portland but because of Roy, Aldridge, and Miller. Roy showed yesterday that he can still hit big time shots even after being out for a week. Aldridge stepped it up big time yesterday, and miller has proven to be a big time player in big time situations. He’s a clutch free throw shooter, can create his own shots, score 30 one night and dish out 15 assist another. You can’t double team aldridge and then leave roy or miller open and vise versa. Also our “role players” like bayless, batum, and webster have played well this series coming off the bench (besides batum, he starts). Also Rudy has hit his last 5 three point tries so i think he’s out of his slump (hopefully). J RIch played poorly on both ends last game, Nash can’t play D, and Amare well although he played good he’s a dirty player which may bring some tanasity to the blazers. Idk if that’s a good thing or not but who cares. I think its good.

BUT if Pheonix can get into their rhythm like in games 2/3 then we’re screwed. Nash will just keep feeding his guys; amare, Richardson, even hill. the blazers can’t let the suns run the floor and get easy buckets in transition. Everything will for the blazers has to start on the defensive end. When we play defense it feeds our offense.

    Game 5: PHX wins 110- 101
    Game 6: Blazers win 99-95
    Game 7: Blazers win 93-87

    • Peter says:

Game 7 is at PHX. most likely home team wins. You gotta consider that.

for 15. pierce is way better than Josh Smith. Pierce is a better clutch and all-around player than Josh Smith…..
Also Kobe is better than D-Wade. KB24 is a better closer that is why he’s better than D-Wade. Simply, Amar’e is better than Deron Williams.

  71. tbag says:

suns suck. period. amare is garbage so he has to make up for it with his goggles and elbows. what a tool.

  72. Portland Fans believe. They don’t leave games at the Rose Garden down 6 with 2 minutes left like PHX fan did in game 1.
Portland Players Believe. Roy’s presence means the world to all our players. He is our leader, and even at 80% gives more to this team than Rudy did the first 3 games. It translate to no longer doubling Aldridge because you have a weapon that can beat you when you do. And he creates his own shots. I promise you the more time he gets the more his legs get back to conditioned. Blazers in 6!

  73. Voice of reason says:

The suns are gonna win the series and are goin to have homecourt advantage vs. The Gayass Spurs… GO SUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Are you serious?! You have your hands full with Portland right now and you think you are going to beat the Spurs?! Wow, man, one step at a time here! You better focus on trying to beat Portland first, which I woulnd’t be surprised if Portland took the series!
Do you see what San Antonio is doing to the #2 ranked team in the west?! They are manhandling them just fine. Your suns, if advancing to round two, would be dismantled and embarrassed by the Spurs!

My only wish is that you were seeded to face the Jazz in round two. It would not be the same as the last game of the season! The suns are either hot or cold. Twice they lost double digit leads to Utah in the fourth quarter! They are streaky at best! The suns have picked a bad time to be streaky. Any team on top of their game right now can beat the Suns. They are just too fickle!

    • Peter says:

you may be right. but PHX on top of their game can beat any team. Any team at the top of their game has a chance to beat any other team. It’s the same for all 20 or so teams in the NBA.

  74. sammy says:

pheonix, atlanta, la,, cant perform on the road
    pheonix is gonna loose 4-3
    atlanta 4-2
    la 4-2

  75. Nico Rocha says:

    screw that, Go Magic!

  76. Gmockey says:

It takes a Blazers fan to look at a 2-2 series where:

Portland won 2 very close games

    and

Phoenix won 2 complete blowout games that made Portland look like little girls

… and somehow decide that “Portland is a better team” and “Portland is going to win in 6″ and bla bla bla bla.

I am not a fan of either team. I just happen NOT to be an idiot. Phoenix is a much better team than Portland. If you disagree, you’re an idiot. Phoenix will probably win the series … since better teams usually win. End of analysis. Does anyone need me to explain basic addition and subtraction now?

    • Seriously? says:

The point of being able to agree or disagree with such a loaded statement such as “Phoenix is a much better team than Portland” is that you’ve based this on opinion.. and to say “If you disagree, you’re an idiot”.. well.. then that just makes you ignorant.

Portland was blown out without Brandon Roy. and with the addition of Brandon Roy Phoenix had a tough time of it and LOST. So doesn’t that mean B.Roy evens out the score quite a bit?.. So wouldnt that make Phoenix and Portland nearly equal? Don’t get me wrong.. I wouldnt put money on either team to win the series because it’s THAT close now with Roy back.. but being that I am a Portland fan, and have seen some incredible things happen at the hands of Roy and the rest of our team, I believe that Portland can win this.

      • Peter says:

Mr. Seriously good comeback with him calling ppl ignorant about ppl disagreeing, you’re an idiot deal. mr. Gmockey, don’t ever call some an idiot just because some1 disagrees. WE have our rights. you have yours.

  77. Roy over-rated by Portland fanboy's says:

Whoever the idiot was who said Roy was within the top ten above Stoudemire, quit fooling yourself. Even if Stoudemire isn’t in the top ten, he still is above Roy. It’s oblivious that you Portland fanboy’s put Roy above great players like Wade and Nash. Stoudemire would posterize Roy anyday, as would many better players in the NBA.

  78. Blazerbobby09 says:

okay here it is the NBA official top 16 players list…i threw in the number 16 just for good measure so let the arguments end here and now B Roy is a better player than Amar’e Stoudemire, Nash and J Rich…just sayin’

Blazers in 7 though, I’ll give PHX the credit due…they are tough, just not defensive minded enough, they dont have the answers for the natural when he is on the floor…you have to respect that he can cause issues for you which opens up the game for everyone else..

  79. Emily says:

I mean no disrespect to any Suns fans. They are a great team judging by stats, but after watching game 3 and 4 against the Blazers, I believe that Amar’e needs to grow a pair, or play in the WNBA. I understand that they needed to score, but have some respect, Amar’e, REALLY. Watch your elbows, and don’t back up like a little girl!!!

  80. Roy says:

GO BLAZERS!! Steve Nash is great but I agree with Emily. Amar’e, play ball like a big boy.

  81. JSIZZ says:

You fans are bias…..facts are this……BRANDON ROY is not a TOP 10 Player, Steve Nash has back to back MVP and Amare is the best player in the league since February 20, 2010. FACTS!!! Lebron, Kobe, & Wade ELITE stars, then Dirk, Durant, Granger, Melo, ROSE, & DWILL are game changers. Nash is the best player in the series, SUNS lost game 4 by 9 pts, Nash had 6 TOs, & suns only scored 4 Fastbreak points. Granted Portland has excuses if we had this, if we had that, if we had nuts! QUIT complaining. FACT: If Robert Horry didnt closeline STEVE NASH in 2007 SUNS would be 2007 champions. Brandon scored 52 points in 2009 verse SUNS. WOW! JRICh scored 42 points this week! Marcus Camby is the best thing going for Portland. Batum is OVERRATED, & Portland is not underrated, & series can go either way, the only upset in the west would be Thunder over Lakers. I am a NBA fan, SUNS are my team, DWADE is my favorite player, but I am far from bias. If Suns take care of the ball, they will win. Need I remind you before the playoffs Suns won a low scoring game against this same team. Batum needs to grow a pair as well, crying because Amare put his glasses on and his elbow touched the little girl. Amare will dunk on every player in the series & their moms if he has to, stop hating…AS of now the best players in this series are Jason Richardson, & Andre Miller.

  82. RipCityDarren says:

The TrailBlazers are the most underrated team in the Nba and will soon prove everyone wrong. Blazers in 6

  83. RipCityDarren says:

oh, and all these people talking about B.Roy,
Year One: Rookie Of The Year
    Year Two: All Star
    Year Three:All Star
and you can bet thats Not ganna change

    • Peter says:

      Amare Stoudemire
Year 1: Rookie of the Year. Also Rookie Challenge MVP.
Year 2: and onward. More All Star appearances. on US Olympics basketball team.

Really looks like STAT has better yearly appearances success. Each player are good in their own ways. Roy is good. STAT is good too.

  84. Roy over-rated by Portland fanboy's says:

This is the playoff’s dummies! Play hard or go home pansies! Yes, I’m talking about you Portland fans, Yapping about how Amare is dirty. It’s called playoff intensity, are you blinded by your fantasies about Roy.

    • Peter says:

and it does look like Roy during this series isn’t himself. So you all talkin’ stuff that Roy went beat the crap out of the Suns, it didn’t seem like that in the last game. Perhaps Bayless did more damage than Roy thru out the series you know.
