Hang Time Podcast (No. 4)

HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS — From rookies to the Hall of Fame, the Hang Time Podcast has it all for you this week.

The conversation was so good we delivered a two-part show this time:

NBA.com rookie guru Drew Packham joined us to talk rookies and we did a retro-redraft of the lottery picks from 2009 armed with what we know now. Also, NBA TV analyst Steve Smith joined us from Indianapolis, site of the Final Four and NCAA Tournament title game and the Hall of Fame announcements.

Part 1:

Part 2:

My partner, Vince Thomas, is currently on location in his hometown of Buffalo, so his phone situation remains a bit sketchy (there is apparently spotty cell reception in his neighborhood).

But we welcome your feedback, as always. Follow the Hang Time Podcast on Twitter and you can also follow both Vince and myself.

  1. alex says:

tyreke evans made like 6 game winning shots!he just got 20-5-5 yesterday which is amazing.really hard to have 20+ points,5+ rebounds and 5+ assists!!Tyreke Evans ROY:)

  2. Aviatar says:

Casspi is the first Israeli-born, not the first Jewish. And he is my boy!

  3. evansfan says:

Stephen Curry is certainly making a case for rookie of the year but I think tyreke evans should win it..consistent all year..can hit the big shots..take over games during crunch time..you cant teach that..its like chris paul vs. deron williams all over again.. there’ll definitely be many battles between steph in reke to look forward to..

  4. LAKERFAN says:

Uhhh No. I think Brandon Jennings the ROY. He’s the only one of the three who has helped his team get to the playoffs in a long time. Curry may be good, but Warriors suck. Evans may be good, but Kings suck. I think Brandon Jennings, though he may have a poor shooting average, has brought something to the Bucks organization which has improved the team overall. You should take into consideration of the Teams performance as well.

  5. preet says:

as if marcus thornton isnt better than terrence williams!! this is blasphemy!

  6. Eddie Torres says:

Dejuan Blair was an absolute steal for the Spurs. Knowing what we know now there’s no way he drops to the SECOND ROUND! And that kid is still improving. He truly is “The Beast”. I mean come on! He got 21 points and 22 rebounds in the rookie challenge! I still can’t figure out how he wasn’t the MVP of the game!

  7. Alan says:

Brandon Jennings is not rookie of the year if hes shooting at like 38 percent Tyreke Evans is not rookie of the year because
hes barley improving at all but i do think evans is an amazing player Stephen Curry Rookie of the year because hes been improvingall year and will probally keep improvingevery year also he has 5 30 point 10 assist games the only other players to do that are Oscar Robinson And MIcheal Jordan and look where there are now. Stephen Curry For Rookie the year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Cuz'n Deer says:

As long as he didn’t go number ten. If he did, Bogut would not have had the year that he had because Tyreke can’t stretch the defense. Brandon and Steph are good three point shooters. Plus it seems that Tyreke is stealing all of D Wade moves like Kobe did Michael. I would like Tyreke more if he had his own game. People compare Brandon and Steph to ther players but they play like themselves. Brandon Jennings; Rookie of the Year!!!!!!
